Anna Stewart is lost. After barely surviving a car accident as a teenager, Anna is scared of settling. Flitting between jobs, boyfriends and homes whenever she gets bored, she has no idea what the future holds. Then her brother Brodie, minister of Glendale, suggests she moves to the beautiful Scottish village, lining up a housekeeper job for her at Glendale Hall.
Out of options, Anna agrees to take the job just for the summer. Once at the hall, her culinary skills impress everyone, and she agrees to give Hilltop Farm’s new manager, Cameron, cooking lessons. Sparks fly between Anna and the handsome Scot, but Cameron keeps pushing Anna away, and Anna definitely isn't looking for love. But it's wedding season at Glendale Hall, and Anna is about to discover that her new home has a way of working its magic on even the coldest of hearts.
Will she really be able to just walk away at the end of summer, or could Anna have finally found a place to belong?
It’s summertime so pack your bags and escape to beautiful Highlands village of Glendale with this gorgeously uplifting, romantic read. Fans of Milly Johnson, Heidi Swain and Holly Martin will love this charming romance.

Her new grumpy/sunshine spicy romance LONG STORY SHORT is out now.
From the moment that Anna arrives in Glendale, I felt as though I had returned home. A piece of my heart is certainly in Glendale with the rather lovely characters, and has been since the first book in the series.
So it was wonderful to catch up with the Glendale Hall gang, and as Anna is a newcomer to the Hall, she is introduced to everyone with a bit of background, which helps anyone who hasn't read the others in the series to get a good grounding too, in addition to a helpful reminder to people like me,
It is also good to get to know Brodie a bit better, Glendale's minister, and Anna's brother, and to learn more about their family dynamics.
Anna herself at times really got on my nerves, just with her indecision and lake of confidence, while at the same time was impressed to see how good she was cooking, and how her mindset was trying to change gradually throughout the story.
She's always been rather flighty in the past, has a habit of moving jobs and locations rather often, and has never really put down roots at all, which is understandable based on the initial introduction to her in a rather dramatic opening to the book.
I couldn't get enough of this latest book in the series and Victoria Walters really did come up trumps when she concocted Glendale and its various characters. Such a warm hug of a book that takes you through the wringer a bit, has me almost in tears at one point towards the end, and left me smiling and satisfied.
Thank you to Hera Books for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Oh my, my heart definitely belongs in Glendale Hall - it’s just like coming home. This fourth instalment in the Glendale Hall series is just brilliant. I love Victoria Walters’ writing - she captures the emotions of her characters brilliantly and the stories and backgrounds are wonderfully linked. Meeting up with old friends from previous books was amazing but I have to admit Anna and Cameron are my new favourites. Both flawed but with huge compassion, and their stories flowed so easily through the book. I challenge anyone not to become heavily invested in their stories - I know I needed to keep turning the page to find out how the ending would turnout.
I enjoyed this 4th book in the series. It was a delight to read how all the lives of the people in Glendale are moving forward and introducing us to Brodie’s sister, Anna and her boyfriend, Cameron. This romantic story was a lovely read!
First of all I’d like to say a massive thank you to the beautiful Vicky for sending me a copy of her book to read and review! Secondly I want to thank her for writing such a gorgeous book!!
I read this as a buddy read with my #bookstabestie Hannah and we had so much fun talking about the book and swooning over Cameron 😍
I am a huge fan of the Glendale Hall series and I was really looking forward to heading back there for a 4th time. This time we follow the story of fiery, free spirited Anna who is a tough cookie initially, but I soon warmed to her.
I love the way we revisit all of the characters again, and the sense of community that this book creates is absolutely heartwarming!
Cameron also is something of an enigma and I found myself racing through the book desperate to know his story. The character build up is exquisite and the writing is so descriptive! I have one favourite scene (which I won’t divulge) but it was so brilliantly written that I felt as though I was right there in the story!!
Pure perfection as always and I can’t wait for you all to read this when it’s published next month 💕
Victoria Walters if fast becoming one of my go to authors for feelgood fiction. Always and Forever is Book 4 in the Glendale Hall series and it's another read to sit back and enjoy.
Glendale Hall has been such a lovely series full of warmth, inspiration, community spirit, friendship and love. All this and set in the most idyllic village in the Scottish hills. The residents will welcome you with open arms and make you fall in love with a little bit of Scotland that will stay in your heart, always.
Each story in the series can be read as a standalone but I would highly recommend reading the books in order as the characters lives to progress and it's such a lovely collection of stories.
This is Anna's story. We met Anna briefly in the last story at Brodie and Emily's wedding. Anna is Brodie's younger sister who left home at 18 and has been running from job to job, bedsit to bedsit, fleeing from the demons in her past. She is a complication character; a risk taker, carefree, independent but she hides her vulnerability well with her vivacious personality. It's not until you get to know Anna that you learn she is alone fighting her own thoughts and she refuses to let anyone get close to her.
When her life takes another turn and she's jobless and homeless Anna feels she has no option but to take the temporary job offer in Glendale that her brother Brodie has mentioned to her. Anna thrives on city life so the country life in the Scottish hills does not appeal to her one bit.
Cameron has been working at Hilltop Farm in Glendale since returning back from university. He has his old friends in the village but he prefer his own company. Cameron is another complicated character with grief and guilt laying heavy on his mind. It's not until he meets Anna that he slowly removes the walls around his heart. But these walls are strong and some refuse to budge.
Can two tortured young people learn to let go of the past and help each other gain the strength to move on?
Victoria Walters has written another gorgeous instalment in this feelgood series. I liked Anna's character she was so multi-layered you couldn't help but love each side to her personality. Anna blended in well with the friends we've already met in Glendale and she brought a certain vibrancy and youthfulness to the group. Glendale has been such a wonderful series of stories that I hope one day the author will reunite us with the residents we have grown to love.
I have loved the first three books in the Glendale Hall series by Victoria Walters and could not wait to start reading book four, Always and Forever at Glendale Hall! It was great to be back with everyone at Glendale Hall, where family, love, friendship and community are at its heart. It was fantastic to read and learn all about Anna, Brodie's younger sister.
After a very serious car accident, Anna has, understandably, struggled immensely with her past and never ever settled or found anywhere she can call home ... until she arrives at Glendale Hall! It is not easy, but with the help of her family and friends, Anna moves forward with her future and works towards her dreams and goals. Our past is part of who we are and it is what makes us who we are today.
I loved Anna's passion for food, for cooking and I am sure there will be a new restaurant popping up in Glendale very soon! No one will ever go hungry at Glendale Hall while Anna works there!
Always and Forever has a wonderful storyline with fantastic old and new characters. I particularly loved the relationship between Anna and Izzy - two characters, one old and one new - their connection was very special. I loved Rory and Heather's wedding day and her Dad's speech was very special and very emotional. I am sure there will be another wedding on the cards soon when Brodie, Glendale Hall's minister, marries Anna and Cameron! They are the perfect couple! Two lost souls have met their perfect match and completed the missing pieces of their jigsaw. Together they will build their future and wonderful lives together.
Such an enjoyable read, full of warmth and love.
Thank you very much to Victoria Walters and Hera for my copy.
This is the 4th book in the Glendale series and I have loved every one of them. Glendale is a very special place, set in the highlands of Scotland it is off the beaten track as such but is a bustling, lively and welcoming community.
Even though this is part of a series it can easily be read as a stand-alone. Each one of the books focuses on a set of characters, there are links to other events that have happened in previous books. These connections are explained briefly, but in all honesty, if you have not read one yet then start from the beginning because you are missing out on some gorgeous heartwarming and lovely stories.
Anna suffered a traumatic event as a teen, it left her trying to find herself and not really sure of what she wanted or deserved in life. Out of options and in need of help she calls her brother as the last resort. There is a job as a housekeeper at Glendale Hall.
She is made to feel very welcome by everyone, well almost everyone. There is a certain local who is quiet, a loner and actually feels brooding and intimidating. He doesn't feel like he should fit in this well-knitted community, but he is respected and well thought of. So, what is Anna not seeing?
The author has once again written a gorgeous book that is full of community spirit and amazing friends. Giving Anna a chance to stop and look at life and decide what it is she could actually achieve. Rather than constantly on the move could she find a sense of home and finally settle.
This is one for those who love a warm, heartfelt story. It is a contemporary fiction that I would definitely recommend.
I absolutely loved the return to Glendale. This is the fourth book in the series and didn’t disappoint at all. Beautifully written. I fell in love with the old characters all over again. Victoria has a wonderful way of writing which brings the characters to life, their stories are believable, their love genuine and their pain heartbreaking. I want to be friends with Beth, Emily, Heather and Anna. (Brodie is as gorgeous as ever) I’ve genuinely loved these books so much. Thank you Victoria x
Den har allt jag älskar med en bok! Jag tror den hade varit ännu bättre (om det går) jag hade läst de tre första böckerna i och med att karaktärerna från dem är med i den här boken. Läs läs läs den här!
I actually love this book it’s so cute and emotional at the same time and let’s be real who doesn’t love and enemies to lovers/ grumpy sunshine type of book !
A big thank you to Vicky Walters for gifting me an early copy of ‘Always and Forever at Glendale Hall’ in exchange for a honest review. I am a huge fan of the Glendale series and reading them feels like coming home. This is the fourth book in the series but they can easily be read as standalones. Vicky has a fantastic way of filling in the gaps if you need it. But do go back to the start as they are beautiful cosy reads.
Anna is a new character to the series and little sister to Glendale’s minister Brodie, having been offered a job at Glendale Hall over the summer, Anna decides to do it but as soon as summer is over she’s on a plane to Ibiza, not sticking around for too long is kind of her thing!
I struggled to warm to Anna throughout the first few chapters, Anna is gutsy and perhaps a little flaky, reading on you soon realise that it’s all a front, being feisty keeps her barriers firmly in place, being flaky helps her to not settle in one place for too long or get close to anyone. Anna has her reasons though, I never disliked her, I felt sorry for her but knew the wonderful Glendale community would take her under their wing.
I loved this from start to finish, focusing on Anna’s journey and as always Vicky’s writing is superb, descriptions on point, relatable loveable characters. The scenes and chemistry between Anna and Cameron were my favourite, the ‘will they, won’t they’ kept me hooked.. Loved it! It’s always a pleasure to read Vicky’s books and it’s been brilliant catching up with the gang.
I stumbled across this series when looking for a new author to try and since then have jumped at the chance to read the books in this series. I loved revisiting Glendale Hall and all of its wonderful inhabitants.
Set in a picture perfect village, I love the dynamics of those who make up the Glendale Hall gang and it was great to have a new character greeted into the fold in this story as we met the fearless Anna.
We have spent time with Brodie & Emily in previous stories and this time we got to know Brodie's sister as he welcomes her to Glendale Hall for summer and works on rebuilding their relationship which was left fragmented following a car accident in their teens.
A wonderful story with a complex and emotional story at the core that inspires hope and happiness. I really hope this wasn't our last visit to Glendale Hall as I'm not ready to say goodbye to these wonderful characters.
I have been a fan of Victoria’s work for a while now. I especially love her best selling series featuring ‘Glendale Hall’. ‘Always & Forever At Glendale Hall’ is the fourth book in the series and it is another corker. I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Always & Forever At Glendale Hall’ but more about that in a bit. I actually liked the character of Anna Stewart and I warmed to her from the start. In fact I began to think of her more as a friend than a character in a book. She sounds like she would be a real hoot on a night out. From fairly early on in the story it becomes clear that something happened in Anna’s past which still affects her greatly to this day. Anna doesn’t stay for very long in any one area and she doesn’t seem to make many friends which I think has a lot to do with fact that she thinks that she may potentially open herself up to being hurt again. It’s as though Anna has built a brick wall around herself and she will not lower her defences. Anna is a lovely young lass and I kept everything crossed that she would get her ‘happy ever after’ ending. What happens? Well for the answers to that question and so much more you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you. Within the first five minutes of reading this book, I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to put the book down- at all. To say that reading ‘Always & Forever At Glendale Hall’ became addictive is a huge understatement. My Kindle wasn’t exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I just couldn’t bear to miss a single second of the story. I had to keep reading to see if Anna got her ‘happy ever after’ ending and I had to discover what happened in the lives of the other characters. The pages turned at a fair old rate as I made my way through the story. Then all too quickly I reached the end of the book and I had to bid farewell to Glendale Hall and everybody in it or associated with it. I found ‘Always & Forever At Glendale Hall’ to be a charming and delightful read, which gripped me from start to finish. ‘Always & Forever At Glendale Hall’ is extremely well written with realistic characters. I love the way in which Victoria grabs your attention and then reels you into the story. I love the way in which the author makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story themselves and at the heart of all the action. That’s how I feel at any rate. In fact Victoria made Glendale Hall seem so realistic that I wish that I could go and stay there. This book is perfect escapist reading with a story that has drama, life, love and humour at the heart of it. In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Always & Forever At Glendale Hall’ and I would definitely recommend this delightful book and series to other readers. I will most certainly be reading more of Victoria’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.
I was introduced to the lovely village of Glendale and its unforgettable characters in New Beginnings At Glendale Hall. Imagine my delight when I got to visit again while following the story of the feisty and stubborn Anna Stewart, sister to Brodie, the local minister. She’s an independent, unruly city girl in a remote Highland village. What could go wrong?
Anna was given a second chance at living after a car accident twelve years ago. A second chance she felt guilty about as she distanced herself from her family. After losing another job due to her recklessness, her brother convinces her to get a summer job at Glendale Hall. Reluctantly, she accepts the offer and slowly falls in love with the place, the people, and a quiet farmer named Cameron. She eventually finds her purpose and peace while cooking meals for the friendly residents and the longer she stays the more her family and friends want her to stay, but she needs to do it on her own terms and not because her new friends and family think it’s best for her. Is Glendale the answer to her happiness?
Anna is a free spirit. A loner who is honest, fearless, and beautiful. But she is tired. Tired of running. Tired of not having someone to talk to. Just once she wants to have what everyone else finds so easy. When she discovers her guilt and fear were misguided, she starts to think she can change the direction of her life and maybe help Cameron who has the same misguided guilt issues over the death of this girlfriend. Anna and Cameron are an unconventional couple with her outspokenness and his quiet charm. They bring the best out of each other. But after Cameron unintentionally makes a faux pas, Anna runs away to London soon realizing she left a piece of her heart in Glendale. Though she will always want to live on her own terms, she comes back to a place she calls home.
Anna receives wonderful advice from Beth, Heather, and Emily who have had their own tragedies and setbacks along the way and who have found peace and happiness in Glendale. Glendale and its lovely residents are very hard to walk away from. Who could resist a competitive and boisterous quiz night at the pub, a joint hen and stag murder mystery weekend in a castle, and just sitting around the dinner table with an entertaining and interesting group of people who care about you and accept who you are?
I’m so glad I visited Glendale again. This charming book inspires you to follow your heart and follow your dreams, and I promise Glendale will work its magic on you.
Thank you to Ms. Walters for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
First and foremost, I am not good in reading fictional books so I randomly pick any genre to see which suits me the most.
Anna is a rebellious woman who was stuck with her traumatized past of an accident involving her family, she bears guilt because she thought she was the one to blame of the death of a guy during the accident. Eversince then, she went from places to places to find anything or perhaps someone to fill her empty heart but just couldn't until one day she met Cameron, who seems to understand her well. And finally able to fix her relationship with her brother and her family.
I don't want to explain further as you should read the book yourself. I mean who likes spoilers right?
What I love about the book is how the author described the place, Glendale seems like a place that even me myself would love to visit one day. I can even feel the country and family kind of enviroment. How lovely and comforting the people around, I could feel that even a stranger from another land can feel like home if they go there.
I just wish the author could describe how Anna prepares the food and the enviroment and the feelings in details. From my personal view, details really really crucial when it comes to read fictional books because I don't want to solely depends on my imagination. I want to really indulge deep in the world of books from the writer's perspective, living the world from their sight. Instead of simply saying Anna is on top of the world, why don't the writer describe it in details like how the adrenaline rushes in Anna's vein, making her heart felt like exploding the moment she heard the news, what was the color of the walls or the dish look like when Anna finish cooking and etc. I think too much conversations kind of book isn't for me as I value details a lot. So lesson earned.
If you are looking for enemy to lovers trope, family conflicts and contemporary romance, this book might have a special place in your heart.
Last but not least, the reason I rated it with 3 stars is because I just realized that contemporary romance isn't for me and of course because of the lacking in details. But don't let that stopping you from reading it, like I said, I am not a fictional reader. I randomly choose any genre to see which one suits me the most. My personal feelings of reading it doesn't really negate the values of the book. The book is good, it's just not for me yet still, I will recommend it to others. Happy reading if you intend to.
This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews I received this book for free for a Blog Tour in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Thank you to Rachel for letting me be part of this tour and to Victoria and Hera for my copy of this book. I adore Glendale Hall and I was very excited to be back here.
The main character in this book is Anna. Anna is Brodie’s younger sister, for those who have read the previous books you will already be aware of Brodie. This is the 4th book in the series but could be read as a standalone.
Anna hasn’t stayed in one place for very long since she was 18. She never lets anyone get too close. She is a bit lost and is full of misplaced guilt. She has been alone for so long she doesn’t know how to let people help. I just wanted to tell her it’s okay to take help now and then.
Cameron has been in previous books. He’s the strong silent type. Like Anna he has some misplaced guilt too. It was very sweet to see these two connect over this and overcome their issues together.
I really loved all the side characters in this book. It was so lovely to catch up with Beth and the gang. I was so happy to see Heather and Rory get married, they have both been through so much to get to their wedding day. It weas nice to meet new people from the village too.
I really enjoyed seeing more of Brodie and his family. It was very interesting to see what led him to be a minister and how it shaped his life.
I enjoyed my trip back to Glendale. It was a lovely escape to the highlands.
This is a story of lost souls, broken hearts, dreams that seem well beyond reach, and above all else...HOPE. It's the hope of finding their place in the world. It's the hope that they can forgive themselves, let alone be forgiven. It's the hope that the next place they go will be more accepting, the next time they rest their head perhaps their heart can rest as well. It's about having hope for things that you didn't even know you were searching for, until you stumble upon it...and then you don't know what to do with it because it scares you out of yourself, and yet that's exactly what you needed! It's a story about so many things, and they all add up to acceptance, family, and love.
I loved Anna despite her itchy feet. She was living life to the fullest, and how many people can honestly say they've taken the chances they've been given. Those choices may not have gotten her in a better place, but they were at least her choice. When she lands in Glendale Hall, I crossed my fingers it's make her stay. I hoped on her behalf that the scattered pieces of her life would finally fall into place. When Cameron came around, despite his gruffness, he seemed like a kindred spirit, and their connection was something that could not be denied. There's a certain magic with a soul recognizes its potential forever...but when those two halves belong to people that were hurt so very much, and carried so much unnecessary guilt, it can make for a bumpy ride. This one is no different, but the end results are worth the journey.
Arc given by the publisher in exchange for a review 3.5/5 While this book is sold as a love story, I would say it's a story about overcoming your trauma and finding your path. Anna is lost, and has an event on her past that haunts her, which is why she ends up in the last place she wants to be at: the Scottish highlands, working in a huge mansion with her brother close by. She runs away from everything, so she's certain that this work is only for the summer, and once it's over she will grab her things and move on without a second thought, but will the community and the beauty of Scotland change her mind? Maybe, she won't be so lost anymore. I must admit, it was hard to get through at first, mainly because I disliked the main character , as she seemed bratty and annoying, but later it was shown it was her trauma, and that did make her have amazing character growth through out the story. The way she grows, learns and finds her way is beautifully shown. The romance is also surrounded by the trauma both Anna and her love interest have, but it makes it even more beautiful when they fight to end their demons to find their way to each other. As an adult book, I would've liked if the explicit scenes were shown instead of hinted at, but that's more a me thing. All in all, this was a good book to see how your trauma is very real, but doesn't have to dictate your life. Things get better when you fight for them to, and that's what I take from this book. Also, I wouldn't getting a Cameron for myself.
Many thanks to Victoria Walters, Hera Books, and Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with a digital copy of Always and Forever at Glendale Hall with a request for an honest review.
Victoria Walters offers readers something special in her novel Always and Forever at Glendale Hall. This fourth novel in the Glendale Hall series is a fantastic view into the world of all the stories that came before. This world that Walters built is beautiful as well as romantic.
I do have two problems with the flow of the reading. Walter’s style places words within sentences backward to the way I read. So, this altered the flow for me, and I often had to read sentences repeatedly to get their true meaning. I would also urge more use of commas as it could help the flow issue. My other issue is that the story felt too long. The last several chapters felt like a continuance of a story that should have ended much sooner. There were several parts where the story could have ended without carrying it out.
Even with the issues I had with the novel, I still enjoyed it and read it straight through in one sitting. I am happy to award Always and Forever at Glendale Hall 4 out of 5 stars. I recommend the Glendale Hall series to all contemporary romance fans. Especially those who enjoy inspirational and loving stories.
This is one of my favourite series and I absolutely loved the fourth book in the series. It has all the right ingredients- the beautiful setting, the community feel, familiar characters, gorgeous romance and a tinge of humour. Added to this, Always and Forever at Glendale Hall centres on some new characters. Anna who is Brodie's sister, arrives as the new temporary housekeeper but it is very evident early on that she is a complicated character. What I liked about her story was that although she develops as a character and gains some understanding of the past, she is as complex at the end as when you first meet her. This isn't a story about 'fixing' her. She is always true to herself. Once again, Glendale Hall seems to be a magic place, a place of safety. Anna and Cameron both appreciate the calming influence of the countryside and nature is always a comfort. Family and friendship are both hugely important, as is the importance of clear communication. I notice that Victoria Walters has a new writing project which I am looking forward to reading but I do hope that we will return to Glendale Hall at some point in the future - please! Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the book
I always love heading back to Glendale! It really does feel like you are catching up with friends.
Always and Forever is Anna's story. Anna is Brodie's younger sister, she hasn't had an easy life, she holds a lot in and feels guilty for things that happened when she was younger. After Anna runs into some problems and loses her accommodation and job in the one night she has no one to turn to except from Brodie. Anna finds it hard to ask for help, she likes to do things on her own . Brodie knows that the owner of Glendale Hall, Beth, is looking for some cleaning help, the job is live it's the perfect solution for Anna.
Cameron is back home in Glendale working at Hilltop farm after leaving to go to university. Cameron holds alot in and hasn't had an easy few years, he also holds a lot of guilt for things that happened when he was at university.
Both have built up strong walls, maybe now is the time for them to help each other knock some walls down.
I loved catching up with my favourites and I have absolutely loved this series! I'm not sure if it's the end, I really hope it's not as I will miss these characters so much!
It is such a heart-warming story, following Anna and a part of her life journey. This book is about finding what's best for yourself and having the courage to take it with both hands. It's about overcoming your fears and discovering your worth.
Scared of comittment, Anna finds herself at Glendale Hall, a huge mansion in a small village, a place she never would've thought would make it close to her heart. But the beauty and magic of Glendale, along with the amazing people there, make Anna see things differently than at the beginning of her journey. She starts to fall in love with the place, with cooking for her friends that are starting to become her family, with the grumpy, handsome Scottish man called Cameron.
I loved reading about Anna's journey and seeing her discover herself and becoming better and better. Also, all the characters were so nice and they all made this book feel like coming home. If you want a nice, touching story, you should really pick up this book. It will definitely make you feel better!
I have been enjoying the Glendale Hall series, written by Victoria Walters, since the very beginning, so I was pleased to receive an ARC of Always and Forever at Glendale Hall.
It was wonderful to return to Glendale, and to check in with many much-loved characters. This book follows the story of Anna (Brodie’s sister), and Cameron.
I really enjoyed this story, it was relaxing and easy to read. I liked the way that Anna gradually discovered that her take on her childhood was not quite right, and gained confidence in herself. I liked the way that she made her own decisions, and learned to accept help and friendship from others. I felt like this story ticks all the boxes: relaxing, romance, friendship, happy ending. What more could you want?
If you’re looking for a lovely romance, with great character development, and a happy ending, pick this one!
I was given a copy of this book, my opinions are my own.
I have well and truly fallen in love with Vicky Walters and her beautiful Glendale Hall series! This is the 4th book in the series, but it can also be read as a standalone.
Anna is the sister of Glendale’s minister, Brodie and has been offered a temporary job at Glendale Hall. Anna is a feisty character but is clearly dealing with some issues from her past. It took me a while to warm up to her, but she is now up there as one of my favourite characters.
I loved reading about mysterious Cameron, and I really enjoyed getting to know his story and the guilt he . Anna and Cameron are a perfect match for each other, and I loved seeing them overcome their issues together.
Overall, it was a wonderful story and I really hope this is not the end of the Glendale series.
*Many thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Vicky Walters for the e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review and for allowing me to be a part of the blog tour*
My word this series just gets better with each book this one was outstanding and couldn’t put it down and made you think so much was heartbreaking and happy at the same time and romantic but have to let go of the past to move forward. Shows who your friends can be as well. Well worth more than five stars. Anna has a car accident years ago and since then hasn’t had much to do with her brother and she can’t settle anywhere and moves on all the time. When she looses her job she rings her brother to help her out and he picks her up and brings her to Glendale to be the new housekeeper at Glendale-hall. She says it’s only for the summer and she will move on but when she sees Cameron things change a bit she can feel something even though not looking for love he keeps pushing her away and can she learn what is wrong with him and can they untangle their pasts together or will she head back to London to move on after the summer.
When running away from something means running towards something else…
After barely surviving an accident as a teenager, Anna Stewart is running from one place to another, changing jobs and boyfriends whenever any sign of commitments are showing. She has no idea what her future will look like, and is ready for any kind of new adventure. When her brother Brodie, minister of Glendale, offers her a temporary job as a housekeeper at Glendale Hall, Anna accepts the job, just for the summer before embarking for her holiday to Ibiza. At the Hall, Anna finds herself impressing everyone with her cuisine. And so she is suddenly giving cooking lessons t Hilltop Farm’s new manager Cameron. However Cameron keeps his distance with Anna, even if sparks fly around. And it’s clear that something happened that made him act this way. What is still haunting Cameron, not allowing him to move forward? And will Anna find a place where she belongs? Or will she leave Glendale Hall for a new adventure?
I have read the previous parts taking place in Glendale, and I was already in love with the place. So returning back was something I was looking forward to!
Anna is a woman going from one place to another, still carrying the feeling of guilt since she had an accident when she was a teenager. She changes jobs very quickly, or she leaves the place or she gets fired. But finding a place where she truly feels at home, is not something she already succeeded in. I pitied Anna, because even if not all the details of the accident are known for the reader, it was exactly that, an accident. But the mind has its own way of seeing things and Anna saw the fact that nobody talked about it, as a blame that it was all her fault. And carrying around with that feeling, was just something that made me so sad, because it’s obvious what potential Anna has.
The same is for Cameron, there is something holding him back, and he also is carrying the sense of he is to blame of an event that happened in the past. And that is the reason he keeps everyone at distance, because getting closer to anyone, would only mean getting hurt all over again, and his feeling that he is no good for everyone, is heart – breaking…
Both main characters have a past that is keeping them from moving on. They also have their own way of keeping back at feelings. Anna just goes from one place to another before things get too serious and Cameron uses being rude as a shield. However, it’s obvious they are playing a part, that acting that way is not what they truly are. Once they show their true colours, it’s obvious that they are lovely, warm and kind people.
Of course it was also wonderful to see my old friends again, and seeing how well they are doing! But it still amazes me how amazing these people in Glendale all are. They respect Anna and her boundaries, but when necessary they show her that now she is part of the gang and they won’t let her just run away again without a fight!
The author manages all over again writing a heart – warming story about two people scarred by their past and scared of moving on. But finding someone having faced the same pain can start the grieving process and making it possible to look forward and see a range of possibilities. And having a bunch of unexpected friends fighting in your corner will make it possible to face your demons and knock the sense of guilt out. And is there a better place on earth than Glendale to start this process?
I thought that the plot was wonderful – there was guilt, trust, romance and it all played a big part in the story – the author had a brilliant way with her words and she brought it all to life so well!
The characters were really well developed and very personable. I really enjoyed getting to know them.
This was a book where feelings had to be rebuilt slowly and I loved the underlying theme – home is where you heart is, but finding it takes time.
It is 5 stars from me for this one – just such a wonderful read – very highly recommended!
