Genesis: Falling for the Hybrid

Rate this book
“Let there be life,” a solemn scientist uttered as he played God. A single Hybrid opened his eyes, changing the course of humanity.

Lucien was living without hope for a mate while the military pursued him. Everything changed the minute he looked at Avery. Now he was not only fighting for his people but for a chance to experience love.

Avery was barren, living in a world that only prized women who could have children. Her right to live and die exploded the minute she accepted a drink from a Hybrid and a spark of hope ignited between them.

They became the couple the world hated, danger stalked them, reporters hounded them, and the military wanted the streets to run red with their blood.

War was raging. Could a romance doomed from the start survive? Who would win?

Government scientists did something. Always a good premise for a story and a quick way to get my sometimes conspiracy theory self interested.

The Hybrids are human men with alien DNA mixed in. Government scientists wanted to create "better" humans that are used by the military. Lucien is the leader of these hybrids. When the Hybrids escape the government admits what they did and condemn them as dangerous to humans and enemies to humanity.

Females in this human society are judged on their ability to reproduce and condemned if they are unable to. Avery is one of these women.

When Lucien sends Avery a glass of wine in a restaurant, she becomes a target for people who hate hybrids as well as the government. This actually pushes them together and they inevitably fall in love.

I wanted more action. The book would have been more interesting with it. That's just something I expected from a book with this premise.

The cover of the book is great. I loved the the colors and symbols. The title Genesis: The Rise of the Hybrids definitely sparked my interest and let's you know it's just the first in a series.

The story is well written but feels like it's just setting up the story for future books. I'm looking forward to sequels to see what direction it goes in.

The series has so much potentials. I’m looking forward to book 2. However, please author have your book edited professionally. There were a lot and I mean A LOT of grammar and editing issues. Sometimes Avery was called Ms. Nicholas instead of Ryan. Later on I finally connected the dots that her friend Tiff was named Tiff Nicholas.

There were a lot of run-on sentences too. Or words without any spaces in between them that I’ll take a minute to understand.

Also, characters will be talking with each other and I’ll have no idea who said or talked to whom. There aren’t any “Lucian said”, “Avery answered” and so on. It was so confusing to read.

Hopefully book 2 will not have as much grammar and editing issues as this one. Finger crossed
