Andrea Carter, frontier heroine, is back! Only she's Andrea Prescott now, married to her sweetheart Riley. They're starting their lives together at Memory Creek ranch, not too far from her beloved Circle C. But if you thought her adventures would stop when she found happily ever after, you don't know Andi!
From their honeymoon in Yosemite--and the holdup that happens on their way--to the far corners of their new home, this couple's first year of marriage is full of excitement. They'll battle storms, explore the high country in search of the perfect Christmas tree, and tussle with a mountain lion, all before tackling the biggest adventure they've ever faced.
Always high on action and danger, this beloved series continues with these fan-favorite short stories and a couple of brand-new tales. You won't want to skip a single page!
HOMESCHOOL MOM BY DAY . . . NOVEL WRITER BY NIGHT. Susan began writing stories when she was ten years old. As an adult, she homeschooled teenagers and cared for toddlers during the day, and then escaped into the Old West at night by writing her “Andi” stories. She never intended to become a published author.
However, with the publication in 2005 of her first novel, Andrea Carter and the Long Ride Home, Susan discovered that it really is more fun to share her stories with others than to keep them to herself.
Susan is the author of six historical adventure series for kids: Circle C Beginnings (ages 6-9), Circle C Stepping Stones (ages 7-10), Circle C Adventures (ages 9-13), Circle C Milestones (ages 11 and up), and the Goldtown series: Goldtown Beginnings (ages 6-9), and Goldtown Adventures (ages 9-13), with over 225,000 books in print with Kregel Publications. A brand-new historical series releases May of 2027. She enjoys helping young writers learn to improve their writing with her Writing Workshop. Susan is also a freelance editor. She and her husband, Roger, live on fourteen acres of ponderosa pine at 3,500 feet in north-central Washington state.
Christian YA reads that are clean, wholesome, and truly "Christian" are steadily becoming harder to find, so I am especially thankful for those few that I have the privilege of adding to my shelf . . . like Susan K. Marlow's Circle C Milestones series, and particularly Yosemite at Last: And Other Tales from Memory Creek Ranch, the fifth book in the series. While I have read and enjoyed all of Susan K. Marlow's Circle C books to date, Yosemite at Last will probably always be my favorite. This book was originally self-published as Tales from Memory Creek Ranch, but it was re-published by Kregel Publications on March 15, 2022, with a new title, a fresh cover, and yes, even some brand-new, never-before-seen-in-print stories! The previous book in the Circle C Milestones series, Courageous Love, left readers hanging regarding Andi and Riley's courtship year, wedding, honeymoon, and married life. Even with the addition of the self-published Tales from Memory Creek Ranch to the series, Andi and Riley's honeymoon adventure alone was not given justice since it was only briefly mentioned in one of Andi's journal entries as being uneventful. With Andi involved, how is it possible that anything can go uneventfully, much less a honeymoon in the wilderness? Hence, the all-new story "Yosemite at Last" (after which the re-published book is titled) is sure to be a favorite for long-time Andi fans and new readers alike as it expands on the couple's disastrous, week-long honeymoon trip . . . complete with the perfect ending scene that makes the whole story worth reading. Besides getting to see more of Andi and Riley's wedding and reception and trek along with them on their honeymoon, readers will also find out more of what happened during the year Riley and Andi courted (including a hilarious account of how Riley learned to dance), welcome a new member to the Prescott family (!), and meet a specter from Andi's past with whom she and Riley must offer a second chance (a story that continues to tug at my heart every time I read it). This book can be read as a standalone, but to enjoy it to the fullest I would recommend reading the rest of the Milestones series first.
As a final note, readers can rest assured that outside of a few hugs and kisses, none of Mrs. Marlow's books contain any sexual content.
Believe me, Yosemite at Last: And Other Tales from Memory Creek Ranch is a book you won't want to miss!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Kregel Publications in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.
This was a great collection of stories! Rattlesnake Stew and Temporary Teacher are my favorites! And Second Chances had a character I NEVER expected to show up on Andi and Riley’s doorstep.
Audiobook: I enjoyed this collection of short stories which take place in Andrea's and Riley's first year of marriage. Although this book had a different format than some of the other books in the series, the short snippets related events which happened after their marriage and started with their honeymoon. I found the tales entertaining. There were times when I was amused by the events. I thought Annette Romano's narration was exceptional as she was easy to follow and a pleasure to hear. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
