Darkness Settles: This Is My Rebirth

Rate this book
There is nothing more terrifying than realizing there is no hope.

Overcoming a traumatizing childhood, abuse and toxic relationships to face a bright and successful future only to be diagnosed with Huntington's disease is a cruel joke fate played.

This is Gail's story delivered to you in a four-part heartwrenching series of poems, allowing you to see the world through her eyes.

Huntington's disease is a cruel and hopeless disease without a cure. It affects not only the body and nervous system, degrading movement and learning, but as an added surprise, it's genetic.

Watching her mother suffer with the horrible disease, Gail and her siblings suffered the abuse of her narcissistic, sadistically cruel father, a stepmother who may have been worse, and a toxic ex-boyfriend.

As horrific as this sounds, her story ends in hope, survival and inner peace.

Join Gail as she illuminates the darkness, finding her inner peace and rising above it all to eventually have a spiritual rebirth!
Please Be Advised (TW/CW), this book contains both sensitive and traumatic content..

Are you aware of the Huntington's disease? What is it? How is it caused? What are the symptoms? Can it be cured? If you are interested to know the answers to these questions then you must read the book " Darkness Settles " written down by the author Gail Marie. This book is a autobiography which takes the readers in a journey into Marie's life. Her mother was suffering from Huntington's for more than a decade. The disease has no cure, death was certain. Knowing this, Marie stayed strong and somehow managed developing a pattern between her school and home.
All the responsibilities were on her shoulder. It was just before her 21st birthday that Marie was tested positive for HD gene. Her father was toxic and they both didn't really share a good relation. It was a hard life for her but despite that she didn't lose hope and stood strong to fight with all the problems. She was born and raised by monsters but that doesn't mean that she would just became someone like them. We can't control what other people do, we only can control what we do. We must find a way to always keep moving forwards. The language is reader friendly. I really appreciate her courage and determination that proves nothing is impossible. I would recommend this book to anyone who is going through the same and want to come out from it. Not all darkness is evil. The tittle is appropriate along with a gorgeous cover. Overall, it's a book worth spending your valuable time.

Gail Marie, the author of the book " Darkness Settles" has come up with a frictional book which will inspire millions of readers. The poems are written on her journey with her mother, family and whatever happens in her life say it good or bad. Mostly at the beginning we have come across the struggles are darkness she went through. But at the end, she proves that nothing is impossible. Even with a single ray of hope, things can be made better.

The author provides all the information about Huntington's disease which also proves helpful. It's a short and motivating read of around eighty seven pages which can be completed in just few hours. There are around total forty six poems incredibly penned with all the emotions equally maintained. The pace of the book is fast. The poems are simple which can be easily understood even if you someone who haven't read quite a number of poetry books. The huntington's disease is cruel and hopeless without any cure. After her mothers death, it was hard for Marie to live her life with a cruel father, stepmother and a ex-boyfriend who was toxic. The language is clear and lucid with a smooth and flawless narration. The writing style is impressive along with the usage of good words.

The tittle of the book is damn appropriate and the cover looks beautiful. Highly recommended to each and everyone reading this review. I'm sure you won't regret picking this book up for reading. It's a nice read and I liked it.

An awakening of nostalgia

This read takes you right into the persona's heartfelt emotions. Every poem written here is an expression of grief and nostalgic memories that can never be recreated with the loss of a mother. I'd dread being in their shoe. I read this book with my friend that just suffered the same fate recently and they connected so well with every word. I totally recommend it as a grief companion regardless of the loss.
