Eleven guests. Three nights. One murderer.

In a stately mansion in the Hertfordshire countryside, sisters Lois and Ebba throw a launch party for their new venture: Archipelago, a virtual reality game.

In attendance are their celebrity investors including a glamorous British couple, a brooding Swedish financier, a Dutch banker and his film star wife, and a controversial politician.

But beneath the glamorous surface, there are sordid secrets that include steamy affairs, deals in dirty money and anonymous death threats. So when eight of the guests are involved in a helicopter crash, it quickly becomes clear that it was no accident. It was murder.

Another 5⭐️ review for the 3rd book in the DCI Maarten Jansen series. I've loved all 3 books. These are cleverly written as they can be read as stand alone and you don't feel like you've missed out.

This book opens with a helicopter crash. The story then flicks between the day of the crash and the 24hrs beforehand. There are a lot of characters introduced early on, but you soon get to know them.

Is the helicopter crash an accident or is it deliberate? Are there survivors and if it was deliberate, who was the intended target? Maarten and his team have a lot of angles to investigate. Is there a connection with the threatening notes Marieke Visser has been receiving? It's a great book and the author is good at keeping readers hooked by giving away little clues as the story unfolds.

Thanks to Rachel Blok for another fab read, and to Pigeonhole for the opportunity to read this book.

I absolutely loved this book. A really great storyline, with a cast of characters who were both suspicious and likeable. The tension was maintained through the book, and each chapter kept me guessing. The writing was excellent, with some great descriptive paragraphs making the tension palpable and creating a sense of being in the story with the characters. I didn't see the twists coming, and definitely wasn't expecting the ending.

On the eve of a substantial new product launch, the owners and investors of a gaming company meet to finalise plans before a sequence of events brings double dealing and shared histories to the foreground. Not quite enough depth to the characters but the plot is fine.

Really enjoyed the book, a thriller with a twist at the end that kept me guessing.

Wasn't great, but not bad? None of the characters are particularly likeable but I had to finish it. An obvious twist/ending.

Sisters Lois and Ebba are set to launch their new virtual reality game Archipelago. They have invited their investors to their country house for a pre launch party culminating in a helicopter flight. We know from the start that the helicopter crashes and somebody dies, but the question is was it an accident or murder? I really enjoyed this book and it kept me hooked right to the end. I didn't realise that it was the third book in a series but I don't think it mattered that I hadn't read them as this works well as a stand alone. A diverse cast of characters, some likeable and some less so. Thanks to the author and the Pigeonhole for the opportunity of reading this book.
