I bought this book to show support to Easkey as my family met her in Devon many years ago. I read this book whilst away camping in Wales and it was the perfect beach holiday book.
I’ve always been environmentally conscious and I found this book both informative and thought-provoking. It contains mix of family-friendly beach activities like sand boat building, mindfulness tasks like sound mapping, information about marine conservation movements and advice on how to live more sustainably.
There are lots of fascinating beach facts (such as all seaweed being edible!), beach safety tips, step-by-step crafts, recipes and links to other books and organisations - some of which I’ll definitely be looking into! The illustrations throughout are gorgeous too.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves the beach as much as me!
I’m looking forward to reading Easkey’s next book ‘Saltwater in the Blood’ soon!

A beautiful yet powerful little book exploring our human relationship with the sea. Packed full of inspiring, creative, mindfulness-based and fun activities to do by the sea for both kids and adults alike that inspires both care for the sea as well as self-care practices. It encourages stewardship and an understanding of how our well-being is linked to the health of the ocean in beautifully illustrated easy to digest sections. A must for those who want to learn more about our ocean connection or for those who are already budding ocean activists!
