Khalil has the potential to destroy this already fragile family. Will Donetta and Simone let him?
This book is filled with scandals and dark secrets that'll keep you on the edge of your seat. Make sure you clear your schedule because you won't be able to put this book down. This is a stand alone novel with no cliffhanger.
Whew chile! This book was definitely a page turner. Donnetta was the epitome of a narcissist. The fact that she would treat her own daughter so poorly was ridiculous. She was just like her a teen mom but at least she had the good senses not to keep getting pregnant, and by losers at that. She had some serious mental problems. She treated her daughter just like the woman who raised her treated her and in the end, her daughter did her the exact same way.
EXCELLENT read, I could not put it down. Lots of stuff going on, everyone was crazy. I felt sorry for Blue. But everyone else in this story was CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY CRAZZZZZZY. I saw a few errors that should have been caught by a good proofreader. Still enjoyed this book.
I wonder if Simone knew the pain her mother’s mother caused her would she had treated her the same . I wish there was a part two. We were able to see Donnie’s karma I would like to see Simone’s .
I absolutely could not stand one character in this book! I hated the ending and hope there is a sequel and the mother/grandmother miraculously heals and get her property and money back!
I hate the ending of this book. I felt the mother was horrible however , look at the way she was treated by her mother nothing short of abuse . Furthermore , are you serious 250k a year for s treatment that may or may not work who is doing that . I also think Donnie should have shared her secret, it would have helped with healing and maybe repairing her relationship with her daughter . I feel like her character could have been reformed. But the author wanted us to hate her. Simone was a pos mother , who was just as bad as her mother. . Blue was a mess but look at her mother . Mr Gaines got what was coming to him . Also the sisters were toxic as well notice how they treated Donnie. However they tested her kids ok see the cycle . The whole family a damn mess . I wish it were a sequel where the Donnie gets better

This book was a rollercoaster of drama. It had some parts that were relatable like generational curses in the black community and I’m glad Blue was able to finally break the curse. There were somethings I didn’t like about the story. First the Title didn’t make sense until about 75% into the book. Second the typos were overwhelming. Third some parts were repeated and very redundant. Like I get it, Donnie hated her daughter geez! Let’s move on. But other than that this was a good read.
I gave this book 4 stars because of grammatical errors but overall it was a great book. This book is a page-turner that keeps you wanting to know what happened next. The mother Donetta was a mess. Donetta got what was coming to her in the end. Khalil Gaines made me mad throughout the book. I hate his fate, in the end, ended as it did. He deserved it though. I thought the ending was going to be that Donetta discovered Khalil was out to get her money. My first read by N’Dia Rae and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.
Four generations of dysfunctional women at epic proportion. Donetta was a piece of work that should have shown love instead of hatred to Simone. Her mother’s (stepmother) disdain for her should have been the catalyst to do better by Simone but had the opposite effect. Her willingness to give Khalil money after knowing so little about him while refusing to help her own daughter displayed just how cruel and vindictive she was. Simone was no prize either but she at least tried and was driven to do things out of desperation.
This book was crazy Blue was a damn follower and annoyed me so much and was dead wrong for snitching. Simone didn’t know how to be a mother and was just as bad as her mother for plotting on her down fall and Donnie her ass needed help and did learn from her mistakes honestly none of them did. However if she would of help her daughter maybe things would of been different
This book was good through and through. In this family wit looked like generational curses were following the ladies. Simone had it rough with her mother Donnetta she was a bad mother in every since of the word. Blue needed to keep better company but she was young and didn't know. Mr Gaines was a sick bastard over all a great read.
When I tell you all these folks was a hot damn mess. Donetta failed to realize that she may need her daughter one day. She treated her child like a red hair stepchild. Yet she would move the earth for them boys whom most of them was in prison. I can honestly say her karma came around throwing mad punches.
3.5 this was a pretty good read. The author did a really good job at showcasing familial toxicity and its effect on future generations. There were quite a few spag errors that were distracting. All in all, it was a good plot with interesting characters that moved well. Karma is a real bitch though.
When I say this book was good...it was so good!! These characters were off the chain especially that Donnetta and her so called momma Jolene. I am so glad Blue, Simone and Stephon got themselves together. Donnetta got her karma and so did Kahlil. This was a page turner for real.
Wow, Ms. Donnie was a piece of work. She let money go to her head. Hated that she was just as cruel to her only daughter & granddaughter as her mother had been to her. Mr Gaines was even worse. They both found out karama always comes back. Proud of Simone, Blue & Stephon making needed life changes. Good read.
This book is filled with secrets, lies and more KARMA than a lil bit and I love it! Baby when I tell you this book will keep you on the edge of your seat… that’s exactly what I mean! The title alone pulled me right in! Most definitely a must read!!
First Off I didn't even expect this type of story yes I enjoyed it , with all the drama and twist and turns things like this story happens every day and families usually hate each other and never get pass it I'm glad they did !!
As I was reading this book about mothers and daughters I felt the sadness and pain in their broken relationships. Although in the end the scandal and scheming came to an end and e everything turned out on a positive note. Good Book enjoy.
I loved this book. It was so unpredictable and detailed from beginning to the end. I really didn't think Blue's grandmother was going to stroke out but that was her karma cause she was just evil.
Ok this was an interesting story. I read slot and never came across a mom like this. She was just awful and hilarious at the same time. Like really you didn't see that coming. God don't like ugly.
I didn't think I was going to like this book in the beginning, but it grew on me. Donnie was a piece of work. Her sisters told her that she would get her karma, but she kept being evil to people. Everybody got what they deserved in the end.
Wow Donnie got what she deserved putting her oldest child through hell. She favored those boys more than her only daughter. I was sooo glad that Khalil got what he deserved too. It’s funny how the tables had turned. This is a good book. I recommend reading it!
This was a spectacular. book, it dealt with betrayal, redemption and love. Simone and Blue finally got themselves together to live a better life. Donneta got her just rewards and so did Khalil.
I knew soon are later Donnie was going to get what was coming to her how she did her step mother even though she did not care for Donnie she could have saved her life and how Donnie did her grand daughter and daughter it's just a shame that money made her crazy
I can't say rear it was a goid book or not because this could've result been a series keeping readers on the edge but it wasn't. It was rushed so much could've been the with this one book and the many stories and characters. Goid it was free on kindle
I loved the fact that this situation with these mother daughter relationships happen more often than we may know. The drug abuse and how easy for young kids to get their hands on it. These things happen everyday and it is so sad.
This was a very dark theme. There were no heroes or heroines as main characters. N'Dia Rae is a very accomplished author and this story represents her polished skills as a writer very well.
