Rebuilding Friendship Inn was fast-paced with a lot of returning characters along with new ones. Each of Kristen's Seafaring Girls have things going on in their lives that take us deeper into their psyche. Each of the women and their partners and other family members are sometimes front and center and other times part of the group dynamics. I love how they have their group thread for messaging and how quickly word gets out about things or events and how quickly most respond.

There are so many stories being told and there are threads being woven throughout. I love seeing how some of their dreams are coming true and how their children are growing and getting on with their lives. It was nice being back in Five Island Cove and jumping from island to island for different activities and events. There is closure but lots more story to tell. I like that there was an excerpt from the next book in the series which only whet my appetite for more.

A wonderful beach read. I could feel the breeze and the warmth of the sun and smell the beach and the wonderful foods being served. Give Ms. Newton's books a try if you haven't already.

Rebuilding Friendship Inn, #8 - I really enjoyed The Lighthouse #1, but missed the ARCs in between. I was a bit lost with all the people and events that I had missed. The story was interesting with good characters and well written story lines. 4*

Five Island Cove Series:
The Lighthouse #1 - This is my first read by this author and I was surprised by the interesting and substantial storylines.

The multiple storylines contain the foundation of several women with just enough details of their lives to understand them without too much boring fodder. There's is no stupidity formula or Hollywood-style drama, but a steady pace through discoveries made about the deceased and themselves.

The characters have good dialogues and personalities. No drama queens. Some are more interesting than others, as in real life, but these ladies show the depth of th air live and appreciation for each other. This story appears to focus on Robin and Kristen's solutions since this is a series. No vulgar language or sex. I found this book on Booksprout. 4*

Rebuilding Friendship Inn is another wonderful book by Jessie Newton. This is the eighth book of the Five Island Cove series involving a group of women who grew up together and their family and friends. This story revolves around Clara, her husband and daughter and buying and restoring the Friendship Inn. I love how Jessie Newton writes on how tight the relationships of all the women, family and friends are weaved throughout the story. It’s a heartwarming, emotional about their relationship and their loves. It is a very good read.

Love this series tv

I have really enjoyed this series but there are a couple of loose ends I'd like to see fixed. The book was called Rebuilding Friendship Inn but it never got finished. Who bought it and did it ever get restored. Did Clara get her money back and where did it come from anyway? That part fell flat. However, the biggest problem I have while reading all these stories is that there are so many typos (13) in this book alone. There are just as many in all the other books, so the proofreader is not doing a very good job. Perhaps the next book will have more accuracy. Looking forward to reading the next episode. 😇

As another reviewer commented there are editing issues with this author that aren’t improving. Sometimes these errors are ok to ignore but as they begin to add up they become distracting and a bit annoying.

I’ve read all of the Five Island Cove Series books and love the core group, their families and their distinct personalities. Fleshing those personal stories out further would be more interesting than adding characters just to enlarge the intimate friendship circle. Not every acquaintance deserves to be included on the text chain or at table with the lunch bunch.

Rebuilding Friendship Inn was at times confusing. Names and relationships pulled into this close knit group didn’t always make sense to me. This book felt like a space filler rather than a fully satisfying advance of the story of the women we find so interesting.

This is book eight of the Five Island Cove series and big changes are happening to many of the characters on the islands. Clara Tanner is moving back to her hometown of Five Island Cove under a huge black cloud. Her husband Scottie was accused of being part of a huge financial scandal and the federal government froze all their accounts and they lost practically everything they owned. They have an adult daughter with Down’s and Clara has never had to penny pinch before now. They have, with the help of her mother Kirsten Shields and one of the only old friends to stick by them, bought the derelict Friendship Inn, hoping to get stuck in and have guaranteed jobs and income once they can get it into a serviceable state. Unfortunately, they have clearly underestimated just how much work the inn would require and with no ferry service to the island it is on, she has to arrange a boat service and struggle to get construction crews there as well. Clara is invited into the former Seafaring Girls group messaging, but finds it difficult to interact with the others for the majority of the story. The original girls, Robin, Alice, AJ, Kelli and Eloise, now all grown up and many with families of their own, have been joined by Laurel, and others as the group expanded. Clara is also distant from her husband after what he caused them all to go through and it takes time to get back on an even keel. They have to move into her mother’s condo, whilst Scott stays with her brother, until the home they are to rent is ready, as Robin and Duke Grover need to move out first!
Alive and Robin face sending their oldest children off to college, twins Ginny and Charlie, as well as Mandie, in New York City. It may be less than twenty miles away from the islands, but everything takes so much longer when ferries are needed between the islands and the mainland, with weather being a huge factor as well large number of tourists that flock to the islands. Babies are a key topic with AJ and Matt’s son Asher celebrating his first birthday, whilst Laurel and Paul’s first baby is due any time and decisions about continuing on the local police force are high on her mind. More baby adoption stress is on the cards for Jean and Reuben, but hopefully this time round will bring them the result they have longed for, for so long. Eloise is super busy with the Cliffside Inn after losing two managers at the start of the season, leaving her little time to be with her new family of Grace and Billie, and their father, her husband and the islands police chief Aaron! The chances to hire someone to help out will come just at the right moment, when something else falls through for another after matters get to be far too much. Kelli and Shad will have a surprising announcement for all, as something very unexpected happens for them. Clara’s daughter Lena gains more independence, being around some of the other women in the group, even finding a couple of jobs to do as well. Lots of news and events in this book of the series and you can see how all the women are coping with their ever changing lives and the prospect for some of empty nests, whilst for others news of babies is a welcome announcement. They all grow closer as they work through everything and all the new events that occur on the islands. Another great read of girls brought together as teens, still meeting up and being best friends as they go through life’s ups and downs together. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

I love these ladies soo much, they got to know each other as the Seafaring Girls and now years later they have come together and with each book see the highs and lows they go through focusing on each but also having more of a focus on one of them and what they are going through. This books main focus is Clara who hasn't been with the ladies from the beginning and you are still getting to know and well at times decide whether you like her or not. There are plenty of emotions to go through and as always you are not disappointed and feel closer to everyone.

Clara has recently gone through some difficult times so she and her husband and daughter decide to move back to Five Island Cove to be closer to her mother. They also decide to purchase The Friendship Inn and hope to refurbish it and run a profitable Inn. There are challenges and roadblocks every where she turns, until she finally realizes that the friendships that are being offered to her by her mom and Mom's group of friends can be life altering. I love how in each book we learn a little bit more about each of the woman in this close knit group of friends. How they help one another and provide love and support! This is a great story.

Another great addition to the series.
Clara is moving back to Five Island Cove with her daughter and husband after leaving Vermont under a cloud. They are looking forward to taking over Friendship Inn.
Kristen meets a neighbor while out walking who starts her heart fluttering.
Kelli’s son, Parker, is spending the summer with his dad.
It’s going to be a fun-filled summer for the friends and family on Five Island Cove.

So many times with a series the magic and excitement of the characters gets lost. That's not the case here. It seems that with each book you get to love these women even more! We meet a few new ladies here and I'll admit that I get them confused but the little added details from the author help to keep the reader straight. I do love this series! I will be fair and say that it seems like there are always one or two typos in one of the last chapters but I also purchase right away so these have probably been corrected.

I have loved all 8 of these books and hope the author intends to write more. My problem with this book is they added more to the basic core of women, and I know people at least most make new friends as they move through life, but it's taken me quite a few books to keep the original core straight. The author is starting to add more people and I find I am feeling lost, wait who is this woman/man and where did they come from???? That's why I gave it 3 stars instead of the usual 4. Does anyone know if the author intends to write more books....there are still storylines that are not complete.

I enjoyed catching up with the Seafaring Girls and meeting or getting reacquainted with some new members.  This book was fast paced, full of drama, wonderful news, and disappointments as the Seafaring Girls dealt with the changes in their daily lives and there were definitely a lot of changes, planned and unexpected,  I found it very interesting how this book ended.  I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

The story based around the attempt of rebuilding Friendship Inn is a great backstory to the rebuilding of these women's friendships and welcoming new women into their family. There is so.much to these ladies and the truth and importance of solid friendships. Loved the book and inspired me to reach out to friends that I haven't been in contact with for a long time. An inspiring book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I'm crushed that these books are over! I'm going to miss these women. If only making friends was so easy in real life. I wasn't so thrilled about the sex in this book, not because I'm a prude, but mostly because it felt like it was there for shock value. The rest of the series had implications of sex, but this was a little more than that. Oh well, I will still read the next book when it comes out in the Spring. @JessieNewton - how does someone get to be an advanced reader?

There were so many things I disliked about this book. The main thing was that I'd been led to think it could be read as a stand-alone book. No way! There were so many characters and so many stories going on that I didn't know about, couldn't keep straight. And although I thought that the first family/story introduced would be the major story in the book (little did I know there wan't one), the book abruptly switched to another, then abruptly to another, etc. Not for me!

A story that will have you feeling so many emotions but it will be so worth it in the end. It's beautiful, well written and realistic making it hard to put down. The characters are easy to get to know and realistic. You don't want to miss out on this one.

This is a feel-good story for the ages. It's a homage to love and friendship and hope and how family and good friends rally around you when you are on your knees and need support.
Clara, Alice, Jean, AJ and the expectant Laurel need each other to navigate life's challenges.
This was a read worthy of a comfy chair and a hot cup of coffee.

This is such a beautiful, heartwarming story. I loved reading about the friendships between the ladies in Five Island Cove. This book had me feeling so many emotions, that were so real. There were some big and wonderful changes that happened to them, and all the friends were there for love and support. This is a wonderful series, a great read!

This was my first read of this series, so I wasn’t familiar with all of the characters. As I read onward, I got completely flustered with so many characters and relationships amongst them that I couldn’t seem to keep my mind into this book. I gave the book 3 stars because I liked the love, trust and feelings the characters had for each other. To be honest, I was lost and bored reading this book.

Good read

I think this is a series that needs to be read in order to know the characters and the background stories. Jumping in on book 8 was a bit difficult because there are a lot of characters. Also needs better editing. However, it was a good story with Interesting characters.

Ending

For the most part I really enjoyed the book. Towards the end though it seemed that author was rushing to finish and trying to cram everything in. The result was the characters becoming blurred and I had to struggle to keep up. Still, it was a good read. Although I gave up on the last few pages.

The people of Five Island Cove feel like family. They are real. Their joys are real, their struggles are real! In this book we meet new characters. The circle of friends is growing! I highly recommend this book! Can't wait for the next installment!

A lovely beach read

Another sweet summer read offering another glimpse into the lives and loves of Kristen and her ''girls'', all grown up but still all connected. I would definitely recommend this series, just make sure you start with book one

Great women’s series

As the series continues, we get to know the characters better. But we also see the group expand and grow. Each person is different but they all mix well. I am enjoying this series very much!

satisfactory

The first book I read of this series left me hungry for more. This one certainly has more – more characters than I can keep track of, more errors than the first one I read, more desire to just finish it, because I’m not one to quit a book unless it’s really bad.

Rebuilding Friendship Inn. Book 8

I have read a couple of the other Cove Island books, and this is very similar in that I felt there were too many characters. Plus they each had their own issue. I couldn't keep them straight. Too many, too much.
