Welcome to Kweendom: LGBTQ Comedians Make Pride Personal with Stories of Love, Loss, Sex, and Everything Under The Rainbow

Rate this book
Welcome to Kweendom is a hilarious and heartfelt exploration of the queer experience as described by some of the wildest LGBTQ comedians and writers in a deeply personal collection of essays. The stories inside Kweendom correspond to the symbolism of each stripe in the Pride flag (Life, Healing, Sunlight, Nature, Harmony, Spirit). From coming out to finding love, from awkward adolescent moments to unfiltered dispatches from a Berlin sex club, Kweendom features essays from a diverse, intergenerational collection of LGBTQ people who show there are many colors to this rainbow. Also, if you're straight, this book WILL make you gay!
And, better still, a portion of the book's proceeds will be donated to Immigration Equality.

Great read, but lost a star due to the dearth of lesbian contributors.

An engaging collection of essays from NYC-based queer comedians, writers and performers with a foreword from none other than bisexual icon Alan Cumming. I'm used to reading tons of memoirs and nonfiction, so I had high hopes for this one -- and I was generally satisfied! The essays themselves range from dark and serious to lighthearted and very funny -- like, laugh-out-loud-on-the-train funny. Recommended for the gays, the theys, and anyone seeking compelling personal reflections.
