A historical NEW ongoing SPAWN series begins! The launch of this book, nearly three decades in the making, further expands the SPAWN UNIVERSE with a growing presence of Hell, Heaven, and Heroes here on Earth. A classic villain from Spawn's past has begun asserting his powers on Earth by corrupting as many souls as possible. And only Spawn knows that he even exists. Continuing the dramatic battles from SPAWN'S UNIVERSE #1, this is where it all begins!!!!! Don't miss out...the last time a new ongoing SPAWN series launched was in 1992.
I have no idea what is going on or who everyone is, but this is one of the best Issue Ones I've ever read. The art is incredible and there are 5 stories that just keep me wanting more. Geez I sound like the marketing department for the Toddfather
A bit of a warning: there are disturbing scenes right from the start and graphic violence throughout, so if you have kids (or adults) that can't stomach it, maybe they should sit this one out despite its awesomeness
3,5/5. Nice spin-off for Spawn! A bit confusing and shooting in every direction in all those storylines and characters, so it can be hard to follow for newcomers or readers that are less familiar with pawn, which I am. I will take a look at the next issues, see if this is a run I would like to follow for a while, maybe. The art was amazing, and it was dark enough like a Spawn comic should be, but still, like too often with those Spawn comic, something didn’t fully click with me…
If you are a long running die hard Spawn fan, you'll have no problem in falling in love with this installment. For newer or more casual fans (like moi), this may be a head scratcher that requires patience to make sense and in time I'm sure this universe will deliver in spades.
Great news take on the spawn universe, characters feel fresh, plots are deep and twisted with visceral artwork to support the intent of the author, a must read for fans
I knew about Spawn because it is popular to the point where I recognized the name but that's about it. This issue sucked me in and now I want to read some more on Spawn. Loved this!
In 1992 I was 7 years old and some of the most famous comics were being printed. The Death Of Superman and Batman Knightfall were rocking the world, oh and this guy name Todd McFarlane dropped some of the most iconic story and imagery in the most successful author owned comic in history. SPAWN!
Thing was I was just a little kid and basically into DC and Marvel... and 30ish years later not much had change.
I'd watched the film which while custom wise was brilliant, some cool Sfx and Clown being preformed fantasticly... over all it was a disappointment... though I'm tempted to revisit it.
Crave HBO has the old animated Spawn series and I found it hypnotically appealing, so.... it would have ended there but--
--Then King Spawn and Spawn's Universe drop and a series that was over 300 issues deep had two, #1's and Gunslinger and Scorched will be dropping soon too, adding even more #1's.
So I decided to dive in, first with King Spawn #1, then with Spawn's Universe #1 and original series with Spawn #310 to #321.
Whoa! Fantastic! Now I've added the Spawn Origin Volumes to my list of must purchase and read!
Honesty if you've ever had a morbid curiosity for Spawn but never actual read anything. Do yourself a huge favor and read this series!

4.25 Stars. This was actually my first experience with a Spawn comic. I saw it sitting on the shelf and with a little quick research on my phone I decided I wanted to give this new series a try. I was surprised how much I enjoyed reading this, it was really fun. I liked it so much I decided that I'm gonna read a few back issues of the regular Spawn series and then start reading it on a monthly basis, I think it's gonna be fun.
Great for an opening to a new series. Fast paced and lots of character crossovers so can be a little bit of a headf**k to grasp, especially as a newcomer.
The comic has amazing art and the story is written in the same way as the original. Entertaining!
Spawn has never been in my wheelhouse, but my LCS was selling this book for $3 and I decided to take a flyer. The art and story are good, but it's still not my thing.
Picked up some spawn issues as I find the characters look fantastic. This is not a story for me. I Keep slipping back to the super hero books to remember they are a rinse and repeat.
