The author is a reading friend and asked me to review this book.

For this review, make sure you have a copy of the ESV, English Standard Version, translation on hand. It is needed for all of the scripture references in this book.

We cannot serve two masters, Matthew 6:24. This book serves as a guide, to use your financial resources wisely.

There are sections on saving, not spending recklessly, giving generously, and preparing for retirement.

This book draws heavily upon “The Parable of The Talents, The Ten Minas, and the Prodigal Son”. So if you have a copy of the Harmony of the Gospels, keep that on hand as well.

I took many notes while reading this this text. It is one well worth annotating, and coming back to to annotations over the years to see how life events have changed.

This book is well worth the read, and it will give you a new outlook on many of the parables.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is one of the best books I've read about God's teaching on finances.

I love how much Scripture the author included to show how every concept was taught in the Bible. Most of the ideas are very familiar to me, but the stories and suggestions included were both encouraging and helpful as our family works to live out these difficult concepts. There was one topic (I don't want to give a spoiler) where Scott's teaching was different from what I've usually understood, but I love the way he presented it and we're praying through God's direction for our family.

This is a book I highly recommend Christian read as we seek to please our Heavenly Father with the things he's given us stewardship over!

Talk about a timely resource! My husband and I are in the middle of a major financial crisis, and have been praying for answers as to what our next step should be. Then Your Finances God’s Way dropped into my lap, and I have been immersed ever since, as we continue to pray for answers.

The first thing that struck me about this book is how Biblically based it is. There is no denominational sway, and I love that every point is backed by Scripture, which is clearly documented for further study. So many Christian books about finances only sprinkle in references here and there, but every point the author makes is backed by Scripture. “ We need wisdom to know when and how to spend, give, and save,” and the Bible truly does hold all of the answers. We just need direction, to know where to look, which is what makes this resource so incredibly valuable.

I loved reading the author's personal story, and appreciated his laid back, easy to read, writing style, which helped this nonfiction flow easily. My favorite part is the deep dive of Matthew 25 and the parable of the three servants. I’ve heard this parable many times, but something about the way Scott LaPierre presented it opened my eyes to Jesus’ meaning behind telling the parable.

The accompanying workbook takes this topic to a deeper level, as application is when you will truly see the change in your own life. I am a huge note taker, and I love that I can keep all of my thoughts in one place, but I do wish there was more room to write in the workbook itself. I also thought for personal study that it wasn’t as impactful as it would be in a group setting, which is awesome if you are going to use this for small group study, but for me it felt rudimentary.

Like I previously stated, I have submersed myself in this study since I received it, and to say it has been thought-provoking is an understatement. I truly believe that Your Finances God’s Way is an answer to a prayer, and I am so thankful this resource came into my life.

It's a great pleasure for me to be able to write this review and whole-hearted recommendation of Pastor Scott LaPierre's newest book, Your Finances God's Way!

The author truly starts out on the right foot when he makes it clear to the reader that this book is not merely a collection of his own opinions about money and finances; rather, it is a collection of God's thoughts on those subjects, as they are found in His written Word. I love how he pointed out in the preface that our relationship with money and our level of financial maturity will almost always be a reflection of our relationship with the Lord and our level of spiritual maturity.

It was a great idea for the author to structure the content of this book to reflect the way the New Testament Epistles are written – the theology behind wise money management comes before the "how-to" application of what we should or should not do with our finances. One of the things that struck me in particular was just how much Jesus Himself talked about money – making it the subject of nearly 1/3 of His parables! I appreciate Pastor LaPierre's practical wisdom and insights into Christ-like giving, charity, debt, and God-honoring retirement. And in the very last chapter of the book, he does an incredible job bringing to light how the Bible uses financial vocabulary to point us to the true spiritual riches of redemption in Jesus, Who imputed His righteousness to us so that we poor sinners could be ransomed from the debt of sin that we could never repay!

Whether you are struggling to get a handle on your money, or you think you have your finances under control – either way, this book is a practical, Scripture-focused guide that I would gladly recommend to anyone who wants to improve their relationship with the Lord and use His financial resources for His glory. May the Lord cause this book to be a blessing to all who read it!

I enjoyed reading the beginning of the book where Scott explains his story and why he’s sharing his reasons to his readers. Scott uses scriptures, skills and his personal experiences to share how we can become good stewards of our money.

“When you finished the last chapter, you will know what it takes to be free from financial anxiety, prepared for the future, experience contentment, and give charitably.”

I liked Scott’s simple approaches, his scripture references, and the explanations as to WHY we should do his suggestions and follow scripture examples and God’s word.

I also got his workbook which was extremely helpful in practicing and applying what I learned in each chapter. I love taking notes and writing down my thoughts when I’m reading and applying a “self help” book. It was especially helpful when I was reading about the parables.

Highly recommend if you are wanting a biblical, Godly approach to managing your money!

The book covers a lot of topics from a biblical point of view but I would say that the main point is that God seeks to transform your heart rather than just your finances. This is important because if your heart isn't transformed then you can't truly change your financial situation or any other aspect of life because all sin comes from the heart (Mark 7:21-23). Scott LaPierre makes sure to continuously put God and scripture first is everything discussed.

The subtitle for the book is "A Biblical Guide to Making the Best Use of Your Money."
The book is divided into 16 chapters, each chapter deals with a different money principle and the associated problems it can cause. Being a poor or lazy steward is wickedness. The author really doesn't mince words or coddle the reader in his truths from Jesus' parables and examples. Finally, LaPierre offers proposals on what to do about this problem. God expects us to take action with money and the talents he has given us.

You can read the book straight through or read a chapter when you are struggling with the particular principle being addressed in that chapter (stewardship, giving, debt, saving).

LaPierre begins by sharing his own financial story (always helps to know that your author has found success in what they are writing about). He then tells us why he is writing this book (and it is not to get rich!).

The workbook is a study guide that makes a good resource for small groups who want to discuss these issues together. This would be perfect as a solo, couple, or group study guide. It includes questions to discuss, a summary of main points, and questions designed for self reflection and to change your point of view. Or at least acknowledge what your understanding of things are. The book is easy to follow and organized in a way that makes it ideal for small groups.

It’s also easy enough just to work through on your own as an individual or with your family if you don’t want to go the small group route. Each chapter is only a few pages long so it can be read in one sitting, which means you could finish it in about two weeks even if you only read 15 minutes every day.

This is a very well-researched and biblically accurate book about personal finances.
Your Finances God's Way is a very well-researched and biblically accurate book about personal finances. In the book, Scott explains that money is a tool that we can use for good or bad. He also gives a biblical perspective on financial management and stress relief from debt. Scott even writes about generosity and helping those in need, making it clear that we are to be generous with our time, talents and treasure. It is an excellent devotional for anyone who wants to learn more about personal financial management through a biblical perspective.

I would definitely recommend reading this book if you're looking for an easy way to understand personal finance from a Christian perspective.

Whose spending and saving example are you going to follow? The federal government's? Your parents'? Your friends' or favorite celebrities'? Turns out there is a good, solid, and wise example to follow--in God's Word. In his excellent duo Your Finances God's Way: A Biblical Guide to Making the Best Use of Your Money (there's both a book & a workbook to use alongside), Scott LaPierre pulls the many examples and exhortations from the Bible and puts them together for the reader.

The book spends 12ish chapters building the foundation of the concept of money and how to use it, including: viewing money as a chance for stewardship; what's wrong with loving money; what we can learn from the parable of the rich fool; attitudes and actions of giving; debt; our feelings about money and how they influence our use of it; and more. Then, after he has laid a full foundation of what we can learn from the Bible about money, he spends the remainder of the book on specifics: how to get out of debt, saving well, and retiring well. Plus an end chapter that sums up much in the way of attitude and action that he's covered.

I'm not a money expert; but I highly respect what God's Word says about money, and I want that to shape my actions and attitudes about it. How incredibly helpful and useful this book pair has been for that purpose! I highly recommend it for everyone who'd like to develop a healthy framework of thinking about money and choosing what to do with it. Written in a clear, gentle pastoral style, LaPierre's book will engage and encourage you. And help you to build excellent money habits.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of these books which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Your Finances God's Way: A Biblical Guide to Making the Best Use of Your Money by Scott LaPierre is a Self-Help Christian Book.

Scott LaPierre is a Pastor and Conference Speaker. He prides himself in living a Debt Free Life for a Single Income Family of 11. He written this book to share his knowledge of achieving a Debt-Free Life with others. The Book is Biblically based and encourages the reader to be a good Steward of the Blessings we are given. He says many have Negative Spending Habits and are not wise with money. The main points he covers in the book are:
• get the most out of your money by paying off debt and building up savings
• make wise spending decisions that enable you to avoid anxiety, regret, and conflict
• find a healthy balance between being financially frivolous and frugal to a fault

The timing of this book publication is EXCELLENT. The Economy nowadays is in trouble and many are struggling so much with Finances. The Advice and Principles in this book are very helpful and Biblically based. I believe in being a Good Steward of our Blessings and I strive towards that, but sometimes the Budget doesn't always work that way. I want to apply some of these principles to our household finances. The Workbook is a GREAT addition to help keep the reader accountable. The Workbook also is a great asset for those using the Book in a Group or Bible Study setting. I HIGHLY Recommend both the Book and Workbook to anyone who is struggling to be a Good Steward with Finances. ENCOURAGING BOOK!

So what I really loved about this book was that while it WAS about finances, it wasn’t JUST about finances. LaPierre’s approach in this book makes it a point for us to be good and faithful stewards of WHATEVER God has entrusted us with. Money is an easy asset for us to understand handling responsibly, but it’s also gifts, talents, children, ministries, jobs, etc. It’s everything God has given us! I liked that he emphasized that while shouldn’t be wasteful with our finances, our goal shouldn’t ultimately be wealth. It’s to be faithful with what God has given us and use it for His glory. Although I was already looking forward to this one, I’m glad that I was surprised just how much I got out of it. Definitely worth the read!

The workbook was a good resource as well, although not quite what I expected it to be. It was more of a reading comprehension/deeper thinking about what you read as you go along instead of a hands-on financial workbook. Still useful, but might be worth looking at a sample before deciding if you think it’s worthwhile.

The author is providing positive patterns with biblical principles to get you to think about how and why you spend your money the way you do. His goal is to help you be a good Stewart of the money God has given you. I read this book in conjunction with the workbook. He did help me identify ways to manage our money and make better decisions. I like how he and his family lived on one income and still paid off their debt. What made me sit up and notice is after I finished reading this book our gospel at church was about Jesus feeding the crowd on a few loaves of bread and fish. Makes you think,.

Scott has written a memorable and extremely helpful book! It is theologically rich, practical in nature and absolutely necessary. He has powerfully written a book that cuts through the North American noise surrounding possessions and success culture. That is why, it is not only theological and practical. It is also culturally informed in regard to properly assessing the massive problems of today's North American culture steeped in selfishness, pride, wealth, prosperity, financial carelessness and the progressive rise of massive, unheard-of debt.

But the greatest thing is that, it is a book that is not strictly for a narrow audience. It not only for the cultural or financial elite. It is not a book only for the business elites. It isn't only for the ones able to hustle hard and apply hard principles --although they will benefit from it. However, it truly is a wonderful book for all who are interested in pursuing the basic and difficult human heart-work of understanding their sinful heart, God's hope, God's redemptive wisdom and for those who are dedicated to mining God's richness in His Word and applying it to the temporal world within which they live. At the same time, it is also a book for those who seek to apply God's wisdom and His principles that supernaturally transfer over into the eternal world.

This book will help believers know the right spiritual and heart-steps necessary to take as God simultaneously transforms their future perspective and eternal outlook while also simultaneously and practically allowing the Lord to shape and transform their financial life and their understanding
of stewardship in the here and now. It will shape their most deepest, inner thoughts, beliefs, attitudes and behaviours as God works powerfully in their hearts and as they surrender to His Divine design. And, as they do so --by God's grace, the reader and the believer will gain God's perspective, seek His heart, grow in grace, seek His truth and they will experience true spiritual transformation; they will gain the TRUE spiritual treasures of the supernatural peace, contentment, hope and the joy that come from being obedient to Christ while being wise and faithful stewards living life God's way in His World.

So, at it's core, Scott's book is a book that encourages the reader to become more godly and to live by God's principles while shrugging off the cultural pressures and past-held beliefs and burden's of wealth and debt at the same time.

The result will be a closer walk with God, deeper intimacy with Him and a closer walk that produces the best kinds of riches that of spiritual freedom, spiritual peace, spiritual joy and a closer walk that allows one to be in better control of their desires while also fostering a deeper communion with God.

But the best part about this book, is that Scott wrote the book clearly from a down-to-earth-perspective and approach. It is deeply and theologically informed while not being too theoretical, too scholarly or too theologically tedious. It includes understanding of the original languages, but it is effectively, profoundly and simply practical at the same time. It is like sitting down with a wise, Pastoral friend who really cares about your heart, your spiritual health and your spiritual future. With tons of personal stories, and written in an almost devotional feel with short chapters, it is as if Scott reached down into his Bible, his heart, his personal experience and his own spiritual treasure chest of time-tested, spiritual-growth, understanding and wisdom -- the same wisdom that he's applied to his own life and the wisdom that he's counselled others to walk in -- and he has given it to us as a spiritual gift full of treasure to unwrap so we can live it out, too.

If God's principles worked for Him and countless other Christians applying God's wisdom, surely, they can work for you. Therefore, it is truly a book well worth your time! It is a book well-worth your effort and your investment. But, ultimately --it is a book worth it and necessary for your eternal investment and future understanding of stewardship, God's kindness, God's severity and eternity. Don't neglect to read it and miss all the treasure found in this book! You'll want it for life. You'll want it to wrestle through the big financial decisions. You'll want it to grow in grace!

Your Finances God’s Way is an insightful and helpful book about managing money according to biblical principles.

The stress and burden of financial constraints is felt by all of us. The struggles of making needs meet and sometimes spending money on luxurious objects can make a person think twice before fulfilling that. Scott LaPierre has shared some of the most valuable and glorious principles that will help you in properly manage finances and at the same time making the best use of money. Although there are many ways to improve your management skills, I'm sure you must have never heard of abiding by biblical principles and practices to successfully retune your vision to see God's guidance and wisdom that He has bestowed upon is in the Scripture.

Learn the ways how you can gain while paying for the debt, without breaking your spine over it. The choices that we make matters significantly, the biblical approach will help to make the best ones and avoid unnecessary chain of mental manipulations. Furthermore talking about the financial statements and statistics for better understanding, he shows the results would have be polar opposite if one would have chosen to understand God's Word. Making wise decisions and no scope for involuntary or compulsive spending, this book is a gem amongst others.

Accompanying the main book is a workbook that will assist you in perceiving the reality of financial stability through practical application of the biblical principles that were elaborated in the previous book. It contains straight to the point questions along with words of encouragement and understanding which cause us to reflect on what and how you can seek the ultimate relationship with our Savior.

As challenging as it sounds, you can achieve the goal of financial freedom by acquiring some of the deeply profound approaches by understanding the blessings and believe of God's way. Highly recommended it to every reader.

Your Finances God's Way: A Biblical Guide to Making the Best Use of Your Money by Scott Lapierre is a real financial guide from the scriptures entangled with practicalities of life and who else can best portray this subject than the man himself to the service of God and has a passion for such paramount theme.

This book is poles apart from other theory-based financial guidebooks. This is the first-hand experience of the author through his several years of counselling with biblical principles. This is a journey he has designed for you to walk along with him while he will be feeding your mind with logical thoughts to understand and obey the right approach to money.

Most of the books available in the market will differentiate what's good and what's bad but never guide you to take the balanced route. This book would be a provider of your financial wisdom because as they say “A fool and his money are soon parted.”

Every piece of advice here is well quoted with the Verses of BIBLE which shows how much the Holy Bible is progressive and relevant even in our monetary management.

The next big aspect is to make people mindful of why they are doing what they are told to do. The analytical depiction here is enough to originate the longing to obey what they would learn in this book. What could be better than to take your money-keeping guidance from the almighty who only gave you the wealth to keep for the time being. I am looking forward to more such proactive and practical real-life Biblical reference-filled read for our daily necessities of life. A highly recommended Book.

I enjoyed reading this book and found much of the content useful for reestablishing a God-focused way of looking at money as an American.

I would have given 4 stars if not for the last few pages.

Scott did a wonderful job explaining the old testament view on caring for the poor and establishing that Christians are to care for the poor as well. I liked and agreed with his chapter on aiding the poor, but in the last few pages, I feel that he went too far in over spiritualizing money and being poor in the Bible. While I agree with Scott and all orthodox Christian’s that all have sinned and have fallen short of God’s glory, and that we have been saved and redeemed through what Jesus did on the cross, I feel that the end of the book ignores the Christians call to truly care for the poor. I cite Ronald Siders book “Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger” to explain what I mean. Sider explains that God wants people to be able to afford to live, and I have no doubt that Scott believes this to. But the last few pages left this out in my opinion.

That being said, nothing can be perfect. And i know that me saying “perfect“ has comical bias, because I am simply bringing my own perspective which is one of 8 billion. I did enjoy this book and feel that a later edition, with themes from “rich Christians in an age of hunger” would make this a five out of five.

If you're looking for a comprehensive look at God's view of money as seen in scripture, this is the book to get you there! Scott addresses many of the most common money-misconceptions and myths as well as the flat-out lies. Scott also has numerous practical examples of ideas to reduce spending and live within our means. I so enjoyed hearing the author read the book--this offers a kind of connection.
If you've ever wondered about some of the tougher-to-discern passages related to money, you'll likely be pleasantly surprised as Scott explains them and helps us to apply them. I especially appreciated hearing about the examples of folks from WCC who did things out of the ordinary in order to remain debt-free in a debt-loving world.
I was waiting for one famous Scott Lapierre quote that I've shared numerous times over the years: "the world celebrates debt like it's a blessing and yet, thinks of children, clearly described in scripture by God as blessings, as curses." It's a topsy-turvy world out there! But God is faithful to guide us by His Word and Scott remains faithful to the Word in teaching us. Also, I'm going to have to stop saying "tithe" when offering our gifts. Overall, it's a fantastic listen that I'm grateful to have been able to enjoy. Highly recommend.

This book is SO MUCH MORE than a book on finances! Scott leads the reader through living out biblical truths in your everyday life. I consider myself a pretty faithful Christian, but many of his points hit me right between the eyes! I really enjoyed the eye opening section on having so much "stuff" that you need to rent a storage space to store it all. (Chapter 11 Spending Problems Versus an Income Problem) This study (book & workbook) should be required reading for all new Christians - especially young married couples! This is a study that I will be repeating frequently. Scott is also the narrator, and he did a wonderful job in delivering the information. It was like getting advice from a trusted friend. I HIGHLY recommend you give this book a read - or listen!

I found this book to be very helpful. The author begins with foundational scripture to let the reader understand WHY we should be good stewards of our money, then goes on to practical applications. I did not review the workbook, but the author suggests that the workbook be used in tandem to get the maximum understanding of how God calls us to handle the money He has blessed us with.

This book was easy to read. I enjoyed how Pastor Scott used Scripture to back everything he said about finances. I worked through the workbook alongside the book.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Do You Really Trust God?

Both books are so well thought out that they can each stand on their own, however, they do complement each other well and are better together.

The workbook reinforces the lessons taught in the book and gives opportunity for you to work out your convictions of your trust in God and how it becomes applicable to your finances

What I liked:

- These are not your typical how-to books
- They are geared specifically to enlighten Christians and help effect a change of heart.
- There is no sense of condemnation in the delivery. As a Pastor, the author shepherds the reader to learn what God has to say about finances then examine himself/herself through a series of questions and answers.
- That the message is not, you need this budget sheet and you'll be ok.
- That the author's style made for easy and interesting reading.

I am already a tither and I consider myself a modestly generous giver, however, the words amoral, moral or immoral have never before come to mind when thinking or talking about money. To that end, I was convicted about how I spend what's left after the tithe. I need to be a much better steward.

I recommend these books highly to anyone who is struggling with financial issues, get them and get to the heart of the matter with sound biblical teaching and self-examination, then follow through with implementation of whichever area(s) you discover needs work.

I received both books from the publisher free of charge. This review is written voluntarily.

Your Finances God’s Way and the Your Finances God’s Way Workbook by Scott LaPierre is a work of Christian non-fiction. This book and workbook are filled with bible verses on giving, saving, investing, retiring, and much more. From Galatians 6:7 we are taught you reap what you sow and that makes this personal finance book a great investment.

Having read other books by Scott LaPierre, I have gained an appreciation for his straightforward style that utilizes Biblical truths. While you could possibly read the book on its own, I believe the workbook provides additional insights and activities that help bring the messages in the book home.

Whether you read it alone, with your spouse or some other important person, or work through it in a small group, I feel you will gain valuable insights and information.

So, if you are looking for a workbook to help with your finances, check out Your Finances God’s Way and the Your Finances God’s Way Workbook by Scott LaPierre.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

I received a ARC [Advanced Reader’s Copy] Mobi.file from the author and the following is my honest opinion.

I began my journey of trying to be a good Christian woman at the age of 69 after publishing my first two Christian books day before this birthday, which inspired me to become a Christian blogger.

Since then, I've become a good Christian woman with a passion for sharing the words of the Lord; I've come to realize that he has instructed us to contend with everything we possess in life. So, given my passion, I would like to share the following scripture that should remind everyone reading that you're far more than what you perceive yourself to be. And when I talk about being contended, I talk about being happy despite the situations we might be going through in our lives.

Let me begin with what is written in MATTHEW 6:25-26 [NKJV]:

[25] "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
[26] Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Still, one of the things we need to be contented with deals with money, or in other words, our financial well-being. As Christians, we know that the Lord is called the Great Physician, but not too many of us realize that He is also a wonderful Financial Advisor.

To begin with, in HEBREWS 13:5 [NLT], we read the following:

"Don't love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, 'I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.'"
Being a Senior Citizen with a fixed income and my better half, we know how worrisome money can be in our lives; the apprehension of not possessing enough funds to pay our bills can be quite overwhelming. So, in regards to our financial well-being, we need to remember what is found in DEUTERONOMY 8:18 [NKJV]:

"And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day."

In this book, Pastor Scott LaPierre uses his family's experiences and extensive knowledge of Scripture to enlighten his readers in replacing their spending behavior with one that is aligned with what the Lord wants us to act like. Through the pages of this you’ll discover that not only is our Lord a GREAT PYSICIAN, he is also a wonderful FINANCIAL ADVISOR.

For wanting to share with his readers the words of a wondrous FINANCIAL ADVISOR, I’ve given Pastor Scott LaPierre 5 STARS for his endeavor here.

The top things I love about this book are:
- It is scripturally rooted
- It is extremely easy for anyone to pick up, understand, and apply the lessons
- I appreciated Scott's way of explaining the love of money
- There is an awesome accompanying workbook

As a Christian money coach myself, I love studying the topic of faith and finances. Many people might think that I know all there is to know about the topic, but after reading new books I always discover something new. This was definitely the case with Your Finances God’s Way! I really appreciated some of the new and refreshing perspectives around Bible verses that I have read and repeated to others countless times.

One of those passages comes from Mathew 24. Here is where we find the Parable of the Talents. This is one of the quintessential Bible verses about managing money and yet Scott brings to life some lessons from it that you may not have ever recognized before. One such lesson being God judges our proportion versus our portion.

It can be hard thinking that someone else was blessed with tons of money and think that God must really like them and see others who have very little and imagine that they must have less favor in God’s eyes. However, when it comes to our personal finances, God gives each of us exactly what we are able to manage according to our faithfulness. When we manage our finances well, God may entrust us with more.
