A bride sold to a brutal husband.

The arrangement was simple:
Marry Wilder Feldman. In return, I’ll escape my nightmare.

Wilder is one of the heirs to a wealthy and secretive family business.
But he’s cold. Rough. Ruthless. And now, he’s drowning me in his darkness.

I’m trapped in his game, destined to lose.

But I don’t play by his rules. Discovering his family’s secrets will give me the upper hand, and eventually, my freedom.

Yet the deeper I go, the harder it is to find the light. I should run away; my life depends on it. But I find myself craving his callous desires, his brutal affection.

There’s no mistaking it: my husband is a monster.
But maybe I am too.

Author’s Note: His Brutal Game is the first standalone novel in The Feldman Brothers Series. It contains dark and violent content.

With every page, I disliked this book more and more. I don't know why I even finished it...

¬ The Cover... ↓ Wilder wore a suit once at his wedding. He is a livestock killer. LoL!
¬ The whole "rancher" theme. I dislike cowboy related books, if there was a mention at the synopsis. I would have skipped it.
¬ Maisie... I just HATEd her.
¬ The kinky stuff: water-torture fetish - I'll PASS.
¬ The secondary characters, HATED each and every one of them.
¬ I like twisted, bloody massacres but the way of killing in this book didn't work for me...
"Welcome to the Slaughterhouse"
¬ The shady family business, after the 30% we get a better glimpse of Wilder's "job"...meh
¬ The Ending... NOPE

You’re going to want to believe the title on this one. I read mostly dark romance and a lot of mafia type romances. I thought that is what this would be. I was so wrong.

This book is absolutely dark, I wouldn’t call it pitch black but it’s more black than grey, for sure. It presents as sort of a typical arranged marriage / marriage of convenience situation but it’s clear there are very sinister undertones involved. Heroine is a sex worker paid to marry hero.

Wilder is a very difficult H. Early in the book he is downright unlikable. As the book progresses he does eventually get there. As more of the story is revealed it casts his earlier actions in a more sympathetic light (and this is coming from someone who doesn’t forgive Hs for their bad behavior because of their *tragic backstory*)

This family is seriously deranged. Like serial killer deranged. Aside from lots and lots of murder they are vicious and the patriarch is crazy disloyal to his own blood.

Story 4/5, Spice 3/5, Darkness 4.5/5, slow burn, bondage, breath play with water, no condoms, virgin H (seriously!). No cheating, no cliffhanger and HEA

This was a thrilling read, don’t start it before bed you’ll be seriously sleep deprived the next day!

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with!
Bad boy….check
Bod boy’s crazy brother/friend…check
Bad boy’s Kryptonie…check ….check and check
This is book is part of The Feldman Brothers Duet why just read one when you can start at the beginning and keep reading through the series it won’t be a waste of time. Ok this is really dark …I mean I like dark especially deliciously dark, but this one here is a crazy dark starting off with what seems like a typical arranged marriage but with undertones of something very evil. Wilder and Sawyer are brothers who both work on the family farm, but it isn’t your typical farm it is so much more and not in a good way however, we do learn just what kind of family we are dealing with oh and what they do on that farm. Maisie is bought by the father as a bride for Wilder. Wilder is a sexy as all get out man with a whole lot of issues although Wilder doesn’t want it. The chemistry is intense, and the magnetic pull can’t be ignored by either no matter how hard they try. Maisie feels her only way to freedom is to learn everything there is to learn about this family and to do that she doesn’t give up until she has Wilders attention and knows everything about him. She will no doubt ask herself a million times over why and kick herself for it not being one of the wisest decisions she had made. Each person you meet along the way are twisted in some shape, form, or fashion and downright cruel but still have the ability love, or do they? Buckle up because this is going to be a wild ride lots of twist & turns, so much drama, predicament they couldn’t anticipate will they learn to trust each other, and can they find something close to happiness?

I have to start off by saying that this book was not at all what I expected, and yet at the same time it was. As confusing as that sounds, lets just say that there are a whole lot of surprises and double twists that unfold rather than jump out from the darkness at you. This book is not for the faint of heart or the the traumatized mind, so be warned. You will either love it, or hate it. There is no middle ground on this.

To celebrate his son’s attaining the age of competing in the Feldman Trial, Forrest arranges a marriage between his oddly emotionless son, Wilder, and a prostitute seeking to escape her life. It makes sense to Forrest. She’s a throw away, someone no one will miss if she goes missing, and someone Wilder will not get hung up on if he is called upon to end her. The rivalry between the brothers, Wilder and Sawyer, is forced by their father by so called traditions that are as old as the family’s origins.

Maisie Ross knows the exact steps she took that led her down the dangerously spiraling fall that she is on. She isn’t sure the proffered million bucks is enough to save her soul from Hell, but it might help Bambi (her only friend) escape this life’s venomous clutches. At least she hoped so until she learns exactly what kind of man she married, and the business that is really the backbone of the Feldman empire.

Wilder and Maisie flounder through a live fire exercise field heavily seeded with mines and unexplored implements of destruction through the entirety of this book. Neither one of them willing to admit that they feel anything at all — Wilder out of fear that it will be taken from him, and Maisie because she doesn’t feel that she deserves to be loved after the tragic circumstances that caused her to spiral out of control in a massive bleeding mess of self destructive behavior. The whole family is unhinged in one way or another, and there is seemingly no one that either Maisie or Wilder can trust. Everyone is out for themselves, even Bambi, it seems.

Once this wild ride is through, however, you will not look at these particular characters in the same manner. Who exactly is the monster? Who deserves to be punished? Which one deserves death and dismemberment? Why can’t love be simple anymore?
Oh… how fickle…

When the author called it a Dark Romance, she meant it.

The only thing I have to complain about is the choppy feel of some of the chapters. The flow was sometimes not quite right for the movement of the story, even though the characters themselves overcame most of these moments by force of will. It was obvious that this was one story that was going to be told, no matter what. So the cadence is sometimes that of a person struggling through a field of broken bricks before it becomes the graceful — if frightening — rush of a predictor through the tall grass of the prairies.

With peace and love I'm surprised by the number of 5 star ratings this has. I saw it on booktok and downloaded right away as I usually enjoy darker reads but this just was not it. Listen I know different strokes for different folks and all but waterboarding and all that drowning shit? Could not be me. The plot was so hard to follow in the beginning for no reason and there was just NOTHING between the main characters. She was saying I love you and I was like girl why?? you've spoken twice?? Her friend laughing when she made a Ted Bundy comparison was also a bit much, I mean, can we not?
This relationship and the character development gave me nothing so I'm sorry but it's a No ma'am from me.

This book can be read as a standalone however a second book will be written about Sawyer. Maisie wants out of her life and the only way to do that is marry Wilder. Loads of twists and turns and family secrets in this dark read. Great characters with lots of emotion and intense chemistry. What will happen when the truth is revealed. Who is truly the monster and will they find happiness together or be torn apart? Fast-paced read with loads of drama, suspense and steam. I loved it.

Arranged marriage.
Dark mafia romance - really dark, with so many trigger warnings that suppose to be included at the beginning: waterboarding during sex. I love dark romances but this was just too much…
Slow burn, missing ‘that’ connection between H and h, kink and bondage.
No cliffhanger, just felt like the end rushed.
Overall 3 ★

So confused!

This book could’ve been amazing if there had been more details or if certain things were known from the beginning. The font truly learn what the ranch is/means until 30% of the way into the book. The first part insinuates what’s going on but you’re always left kind of in the dark. It’s going to be a dnf for me unfortunately. Most if not all the 5 star reviews are from arc readers which says a lot and is sad that they weren’t truly honest. It has potential but needs some work.

Blood was washing down the metal sink drain in the dairy barn. The dairy barn at Feldman Farms had never housed any cows. But, it made a great cover for his family's real business.

His father arrives at the barn with his brother Sawyer who was dressed impeccably as usual since he worked the business end of their farm networking and making deals. With Sawyer's thirtieth birthday right around the corner, their father wanted to discuss the Feldman Trials and Wilder's offering.

For generations ownership of their family business was decided by trial. They would each be given their 'livestock' orders to fulfill and the first to complete their list and gave their offering would be the winner.

Wilder was sitting with his father and brother at his father's favorite gentlemen's club The Trap waiting for them to reveal the woman they had selected to be his wife. He could care less who was selected for him to marry as caring wouldn't change her future.

Maisie grasped at the opportunity to marry Forrest's son. A million dollars would finally get her out of this life although stripping and sleeping with the clients helped her survive after leaving home at sixteen. But she was confused as to why Forrest was choosing his son's wife and even more confused when Wilder tells her to run away as fast as she can.

I loved this book! Audrey Rush has written another great book. Maisie has been running for years from guilt. Wilder has kept himself under control and made sure that nothing in life bothered him. He had seen and done it all due to his family business and learned the hard way to never care.

In true form, Audrey has written another dark and twisted story. No matter how sadistically Wilder treats Maisie she won't back down. My heart broke for Wilder. A child should never have had to live through what he had and a choice he had to make.

This story is Dexter-level scary and I highly recommend it!!! If you haven't read Audrey Rush before I can't recommend her psychological romances enough!

I was so excited for this story! This book is billed as a dark arranged marriage romance and is the first book in The Feldman Brothers duet. Wilder Feldman, his brother Sawyer, and their father Forrest have a family business, The Feldman Farm. The author has done a fantastic job of showing us the family dynamics and it left me feeling a great deal of uncertainty and uneasiness. Enter Maisie, the newest player in the games (yes, there’s more than one going on here), who is set to shake Wilder’s world. Unwittingly escaping a bad situation into a worse one, Maisie is dragged into a game where she doesn’t know the rules, she’s playing with cheaters, and the consequences are unforgiving. I loved the characters—Wilder is a monster, and remains a monster. While we gain a deeper understanding of how he became this way, nothing is going to change this man. Maisie recognises Wilder’s darkness and more than embraces it, because she too is a monster. The writing is has created a tension where you feel like anything can go wrong at any time. The author has created a tightly controlled world where survival trumps all, and love makes makes the risks sweeter. For lovers of the dark, a bit of dubcon, and a less commonly occurring kink.

I read this book in one sitting. It fully captured my attention and drew me into the world. I definitely enjoyed this book. I thought the characters were compatible and enjoyed watching their romance develop. I also enjoyed the business/mafia side of things. Often times when reading mafia romance, I enjoy the romance but the mafia world is lacking. This one was full of mystery and I was curious as to how that would be resolved.
That being said, I wish the ending would have been more of a disturbing one than a HEA. It felt a little forced and very last minute. If the ending had been more mind-blowing, this book would stick in my head longer.
There were times where the plot kinda felt disconnected. Like I knew what was happening but it happened too fast and there wasn't time to be sucked into the intense scene.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and the world and will definitely read more by this author. I enjoyed the MC. She was relatable and fought and accepted her fate. I love books where the guy is bad but the girl is too and allows herself to be sucked in and they fall together. This book gave me that.

His Brutal Game
The Feldman Brothers Duet #1
Audrey Rush
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A simple arrangement, for a great deal of money. Marry Wilder Feldman. In return, I'll escape my nightmare.

Wilder is one of the heirs to a very wealthy and secretive family business.
He's cold, rough, and worse then ruthless. And now he's drowning me in his darkness.

If this is a game, then I'm already destined to lose.
You see I don’t play by his rules. I want to dig up every dirty thing about him that I can find, and use every bit of information I can gather all so I can have the upper hand, and eventually, my freedom.

Yet the deeper I go, the harder it is to find the light. I need to run far away, I know my life depends on it. But I just can’t. I find myself craving his brutal affection.
It seems that we are both monsters now.

Audrey Rush knocks another one right out of the park. This book rocks. The main characters were both disturbed in their own ways, but each also had redeeming qualities at their disposal. If you enjoy a dark read look no further because this book is incredibly dark and fabulous. Ms. Rush you have written another perfect book.

This is the 1st book I have read from this author and I am definitely intrigued by her story. This has a lot of darkness and violence – this is needed for Wilder to live. This is the story of Wilder and Maisie. Wilder is a cold-blooded killer who has no feelings for anything what-so-ever. He has a darkness in him that has been there since he was 10 years old. Maisie is a “service worker” who in her own way is broken. She can be strong at times, but she’s also got a little darkness in her to. When Wilder’s father Forrest makes an arrangement for Maisie to marry Wilder, Maisie will just about jump at anything to get out of the life and run away. But what is she running into?

This isn’t for the faint of heart! There is lots of violence, asphyxiation play, drowning, sibling rivalry, and secrets. The characters are great and I can’t wait to see what happens with Sawyer (Wilder’s brother) and Fiona (Maisie’s sister) in the next book. I look forward to reading more from this author. If you are not into a very dark read then this is not the book for you. I was not sure if love could overcome the brutality that was happening in the Feldman family and the darkness that filled Wilder Feldman, then he met Maisie. Maisie proves herself to be cunning and strong from the start; that she will survive no matter what the circumstances. It is as if Wilder has met the one person who can make him challenge what he believes is his only calling, that is to be nothing other than a killer. Maisie is not a part of the Feldman farm plan or is she? You see, one of the brothers is to take over after completing a trial of sorts; one like no other. If you are someone who loves suspense, mind games, perversion of sorts, oh and brutality to the point of death then you are on a path to see it all here. However, there are some twists that might just shock you. Sometimes, it is not the wicked and brutal ones who turn out to do the most sinister deeds…

This is Wilder and Maisie’s book, Maisie works at a club where she meets Wilders ruthless father, he offers her a million dollars if she’ll agree to marry his son Wilder, Maisie agrees but when she meets Wilder she realises there’s more to him than meets the eye, at the `farm’ she follows Wilder to the barn wondering what he’s up to as it’s late at night so why would he be tending to animals, there she witnesses something she wishes she hadn’t but it doesn’t scare her off, she realises there’s a more sinister side to her husband.
This book has a great storyline, I really liked Maisie, she had a good caring side to her when it came to protecting her friend who was in trouble, Wilder and his brother Sawyer where the way they were because of their upbringing and as for their father, yuk! He was a nasty piece of work.
Overall another great book from Audrey.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "HIS BRUTAL GAME". This one dark twisted intense drama, full of manipulation, secrets, danger, intrigue, surprise & twists that make for a very addicting read.
Wilder Feldman & his brothers are truly scared men, the whole family is a little brutal ruthless, dangerous, he finishes the Feldman Trials now his father wants him to marry a stripper Maisie Ross he wants nothing to do with her.
Maisie was offered a million to marry Wilder but is she going from terrible life into one filled with darkness & a family that seems unhinged neither of the them can trust anyone in this brutal family.
Maisie & Wilders's journey is not a bed of roses a thing but there's so much darkness can these two get a HEA, can she teach him how to love they both have darl pasts.
I definitely recommend to get this extremely dark mind-blowing story you'll be thinking about it long after you read it I'm so looking forward to the next book "SAWYER'S STORY" in the Feldman Duet.

Father against sons, brother against brother. Nothing is normal with this monsterous family. I am all for rituals but this family is taking things too far. If you thought their business was shady, this family tradition is wicked. I did feel empathy for Wilder Feldman who was determined not to fall in love with Maisie although he showed this in a very cruel way and he has an unhealthy fascination with water!!. If you are looking for a loving family this aint it. Again my go to deliciously twisted author has pulled another dark story from the depth of her mind. This story has characters you will either love, hate or just love to hate. A strong heroine who takes no prisoners, intrigue, violence and downright cruelty, 'romance' of the twisted sort. This is a twisted disturbing story of 'family' and one not to be missed. Cannot wait for Sawyer's story.

Wow! just wow! what did I just read? I’ve actually never read a book that’s this so dark before, however I just couldn’t put it down, this book is however a happy ever after story, the main characters are Maisie (aka Crystal, she worked as a prostitute at The Trap run by a man (pimp) called Green, until Forrest Feldman made her an offer she couldn’t refuse, “a million dollars to marry his eldest son”), Forrest Feldman (father to Wilder & Sawyer) and head of the family business, Wilder Feldman (Forrests elder son) he’s enigmatic, a sadist by all accounts and a hitman, to name but a few of his traits and then there’s Sawyer (Wilders younger brother and also in the family business).

This story took some getting into at the beginning but I’m so glad I persevered by chapter 4 I was well and truly hooked and now I’m hoping the author will be writing more and making this into a series

His Brutal Game is a very appropriate title for this book. It is brutal indeed.

To be honest, I had a difficult time finishing this book, only because of the brutality of the personal interactions between Maisie and Wilder. That is just me. I understood their stated reasons, but even as a dark romance reader, this went beyond my limits.

This story was well written, the characters were fascinating. The plot reminded me of another series I had read. I was not at all surprised by the outcome and I saw all the twists coming. My biggest complaint is that there were no trigger warnings in the beginning of this book. I truly believe an author has a duty to inform her readers of any triggers. And this book has plenty. Watetboarding during sex. Patricide. Matricide. Attempted parricide. Mutilation. Had a trigger warning been included, I would have added another star.

This story was not as I suspected it to be. It is not your normal average mob arranged marriage story. This had very many different moods although it is a dark story. There are several twists in the story that happen towards the end. The character development for Wilder was enough to understand that he was a very dark individual incapable of loving anyone thanks to his Fathers upbringing. It isn’t until Maise comes along and marries him. She tries to bring out the good in him. There are some parts of the book where I thought could have been explained better. It was a quick and easy read. And I can’t wait to read Sawyer’s and Fiona’s story next. The last part of the book is where most of the plot is driven. I would recommend this book to those who are fans of the Author or to those that like dark romances. I was gifted an ARC from Book Sirens but I am voluntarily leaving my own opinion in this review.

I didn't care much for this book. The plot was all over the place, which was confusing to me. I like dark books, but it was a bit much for even me.

Maisie is a prostitute who is promised money to marry and sleep with Wilder Feldman. It's Wilder's father who promises Maisie the money. The Feldmans have an interesting business going on. The way they spoke of it, I knew it wasn't legit, but didn't know exactly what it was until they came out and talked about it.

Wilder is a pretty dark character, but I can see why he is the way he is with the way his father brought him up. I really tried to see something redeemable about him. The only thing I could find was his love for Maisie.

I'm not sure if I could make it through another dark book about the Feldmans, but I really want to know about Sawyer and Fiona, LOL.

4.5 stars! Intense!

His Brutal Game, book #1 in The Feldman Brothers Duet features Wilder, that we met in Broken Surrender, and Maisie, a dark arranged marriage romance with a very engaging plot and peculiar kinks!
Original, well thought and ingeniously executed with an interesting way of storytelling, the book reveals bit by bit as the narrative develops, inviting the reader to commit and experience.
It wasn't easy for Wilder and Maisie, the predicament both found themselves in, the pressure for the Trial and Forrest's manipulations made for a conundrum, nobody really anticipating much and not knowing the next step to take.
Next, the promise of Sawyer's book and the possibility of Fiona too!

The cover and title was eye catchy but having read from this author helped the most. The blurb promised dark romance and for the most part it delivered.

What did I like? It’s hard to dredge up a whole lot of feelings for a prostitute and a serial killer but I felt slightly coerced by the end. I think the cliched saying that everyone deserves happiness could be said here. I’ve read a ton of stories lately where people feel guilty by what they did or did not do but let that stuff go. You only live once and it may end on Wilders live feed so live it to the fullest!

Would I recommend or buy? I think I’ve read enough of this authors books to recommend this. It’s dark and slightly sinister. Romance would be far fetched but you may end up with some feels for Wilder and Maisie. Four stars! Read in one sitting!
