A lot of God’s most bizarre decisions throughout history make a lot more sense once you realise he’s just a bumbling old man with poor long term memory and a drinking problem. In this book you will learn why He got rid of dinosaurs, why it took Him so long to talk Abraham out of killing his son, and all about His complicated relationship with Satan.
This volume contains the first 50 episodes of the popular Ringo Award nominated webcomic!
Legal disclaimer: you might go to Hell for laughing, we decline all liability.
Created by the team of Matteo Ferrazzi and Corey Jay. Adventures of God is a critically acclaimed ongoing webcomic which earned a Ringo nomination for Best Humor. For the first time, this hit series is collected in print.
Presented in the form of hilarious discourse between God (an irresponsible alcoholic), Lucifer (or Lucy, our awesome gay devil), Gabe the scientist and environmental activist (Gabriel), Jesus (whose paternity is uncertain), and a host of diverse characters that make this webtoon so funny yet in some ways instructive and thought-provoking.
The highlights for me were:
*Gay Lucifer: definitely something I've never seen before; God's matchmaking abilities worked very well for him and Riley. Lucy is very kind and thoughtful. His relationship with the girls (as a father figure) is awfully endearing. Also, his renovations of hell and rehabilitation program were great (cat therapy! Yes!); I wouldn't mind ending up in it.
*Gabe and his fight for the bees, and the discussions about Climate Change.
*Although presented in a light manner, there were intriguing conversations about existence, human nature, the existence of God, and Unregulated Capitalism with its exploitation of the working class.
*Eating Tofu instead of turkeys on Thanksgiving warmed my vegan heart.
It all gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling, with many laughs and chuckles. We also have the mystery of what happened to Mary to look forward to!
I love these comics so, so much! ❤️ I generally appreciate people with humour very much and especially when they use forms other than words (ex. drawings) to express it, I admire them even more! When I first discovered it, as a suggestion by a friend of mine, I read the first 200 episodes right there and then, without even realising it or getting bored/ tired for one second. The clever humour, Gab's environmental worries, the satirical review of everyday reality and incidents and of course... Lucy, crack me up each and every time! it is the only comic that I regularly read and I am genuinely happy when a notification of it pops up in my Instagram feed! Keep up the good work you guys💯
5 stars are not enough! I laughed, giggled and smiled a lot reading this, and i actually learned a couple of things about Christianity - yes mostly unnecessary, "outdated" stuff but it's the concept of learning that counts haha.. Thank you Matteo and Corey! Thou shalt be happy and safe! 😘
It's one of the most smart but hilarious comic series I have ever read. 330 episodes till now, some of them extremely smart. The concept is to check what happens in heaven, in hell, in purgatory and of course who takes the final decision for everything...Amazing characters, smart humor, maybe lizards will come back...
Absolutely crazy and funny. The expressions of the characters are worth noticing. The artists put together the stories without being offensive to the believers. I loved the nick names Lucy and Gabe !!
It's still ongoing, so I don't think it's really okay to put this book on my read shelf, but who am I kidding? I'm gonna read this till the last chapter for how long it takes.
Perhaps the art style leaves something to be desired, but it is hands down one of the most wholesome, giggle-inducing webcomics I've stumbled upon.
Snippets from the daily life of God Himself (though he's not exactly how one might imagine...), Jesus Christ (honestly, probably the sanest person in the cast), Gabe (Archangel[?] Gabriel, who's just trying to save the environment or have some upgrades to the human design approved), the overworked Purgatory staff, Lucifer "don't call me Lucy" (who's fabulously out of the closet and have more hairstyles than daddy issues), his unhinged assistant Ebag (Gabe's polar opposite, right down to the name), his fan club (Lucifer's Little Helpers are the best) and sometimes even Riley ().
Now, as is often the case, the humour or themes might not be to everyone's taste, but it's non-offensive and at times surprisingly touching.
I really had a good laugh, and finished it in one sitting. Some jokes make sense. Some will make you think how gullible humanity is but thank God for still believing in humanity 😅 It's also cool because the creators always reminds the readers about taking care of the Earth, about Climate Change, about Global Warming.
4.5 - reading on Webtoon which I'm using to replace my mindless scrolling on Reddit lol. really enjoyable, makes me laugh out loud occasionally, kind of obsessed with the depiction of god as a forgetful "oopsy-daisy!" alcoholic
