What a ride. I think I have been missing out on an author, Jen Talty. I am definitely late reviewing my arc. Had pet issues and human issues, so apologies. This 5 book series is poor enjoyment. I love the twists some authors put, nodding to Regan Black. Jen Talty took me to a different scene and pulled my socks! I did not read the blurb, and I am glad I didn't! So the issue with law enforcement was an added oh no. Sparrow is one gutsy lady, with character, integrity. She loves her dad, but doesn't wear blinders. Her mom - can you say psycho path. Twists abound and through it all is Stone, steadfast, trying to keep her safe, trying to be be what she needs and still protect his heart. Thank you for the arc, apologies again for the delay. Loved this!

This was my first read by this author and I really enjoyed it. I love this series and this team.
This is Stone's story and his connection with Sparrow, the local cop. Sparrow's family were and some are still gang members. She works hard on the right side of the law but some family would like to wipe her out if she won't work for them.
This was a drama filled, dangerous story with plenty of action at the end. Who will survive?

Defending Sparrow: Team Trojan is by Jan Talty. This is about the Brotherhood Protectors out of Fool’s Gold, Colorado. Team Trojan was a Special Forces team who ran afoul of a commander who knew nothing about the way they worked. They had a mission that after getting into the field, they all felt it was against their principles and those of their teams. They refused to complete the mission and their commander brought up charges. They beat the charges; but were discharged. They were all contacted to join the Brotherhood Protectors in Colorado under Hank Patterson. Although they were glad to have a job with the Brotherhood, they were still disillusioned and angry at the way they were treated. Something was missing in their lives. They were about to find out what.
Sparrow Annie Oakley was a deputy in Fool’s Gold. Her father named her Sparrow Annie when he first saw her when she was four. He and her mother were members of the Renegade gang at the time; but he left the gang to bring Sparrow up as a normal little girl. He hoped she would go into law; but she chose law enforcement. At least she wasn’t in the gang despite the tattoo on her arm. Her mother had it put there when she was just a child. Since her mother now ran the gang, she wanted her only daughter to take over when she decided to leave that position. She refused to listen to Sparrow tell her she would never lead the gang except to jail.
When a suspicious man bought up a ranch without the natives being informed it was for sale, Sparrow set up surveillance even though her boss and mentor, Jesse Kilmer told her not to. As she started to leave, Stone Bishop, a new member of the Brotherhood Protectors called and told her to come where he was. She found her boss and mentor helping the Renegades get a truckload of guns through the county. Why would he help that gang? They had to be threatening him.
Her father knew that this meant the gang was gearing up to come into their county and town and cause problems. When the gang’s boss had been put in prison, he had ordered the gang to stay out of the county and to leave Mr. Oakley and his daughter alone. Was her mother changing that order? Had she indeed taken over the gang. Mr. Oakley hired Stone to help Sparrow keep a watch for the gang. Was he also doing a little matchmaking?

4. Defending Sparrow: Brotherhood Protectors World (Team Trojan Book 4)
by Jen Talty
4 Stars
I received a free copy of the steamy Fool’s Gold Colorado set post-military novel Defending Sparrow: Brotherhood Protectors World (Team Trojan Book 4) by Jen Talty, and this review was given freely.
This is a complex, drama-packed, ironic, and twisted story of revenge, police corruption, and a play for power where the Brotherhood Protector operative receives multiple injuries prior to a happy ending.
Considering himself lucky when he is hired to guard the woman he is attracted to, former Green Beret Stone Bishop soon finds himself mixed up in deputy sheriff Sparrow Oakley’s deadly family drama with the Renegade gang.
5. Defending Avery: Brotherhood Protectors World (Team Trojan Book 5)
by Regan Black
4 Stars
I received a free copy of the steamy Fool’s Gold Colorado set post-military novel Defending Avery: Brotherhood Protectors World (Team Trojan Book 5) by Regan Black, and this review was given freely.
Tension filled, with wonderfully supportive and caring characters, touching moments, touches of steam, and a heartwarming ending.
A suspicious rash of jewelry thefts near Fool’s gold four years after Avery is disowned by her father, fired from the family’s Chicago jewelry business, and her testimony ensures the incarceration of her manipulative ex-boyfriend Reggie Benn, former witness protection client and jeweler Avery Tipperman aka floral shop worker Avery Tripp finds herself a target and under Clint “Quickdraw” Manning’s protection.
While it may be read as a standalone, I recommend reading Defending Avery in the series order as it seamlessly blends a series review with day-to-day interactions of the Brotherhood Protectors Colorado family.

At the end of Tactical Takeover: Brotherhood Protector's Colorado Book 4 we learn a new team is arriving. These are their stories as the settle in with this group. There are five books in this multi-author mini-series. I will be reading them all. Of course I'm not starting with the first one either...sigh.

We meet Sparrow Oakley as she's meets up with her friend Casey Jones and her boyfriend Hondo at Gunny's Watering Hole. She's just picking up her meal as she's on duty. As a Deputy Sheriff in Fool's Gold she works as many shifts as she can. Always on the look out for evidence that the Renegades are setting up.

Stone Bishop is another of Team Trojan, he's good friends with Hondo and would love for Sparrow to go out on a date with him. She just won't give him the chance. While she has her reasons, the attraction is definitely mutual.

Now Sparrow has a unique connection to the Renegades, her father was once the number two guy and he turned evidence putting the leader in jail. Her mother on the other hand is now in charge and she wants her daughter. There's rumors that the old Bittner place was sold to Frank Bingo, who may have connections to the Renegades. They aren't supposed be anywhere near her father or this town, per an agreement made long ago.

Her boss Jesse doesn't want her investigating anything alone when it comes to them. Not that she's going to listen. She's just observing after all. She's set up close and about to eat when Stone pulls up.

Their conversation goes from the personal to the sites to see and Sparrow accepts a date, finally.

Unfortunately from this point on things get a bit crazy, from Jesse getting into a whole lotta trouble, to Sparrow's mother showing up.

I couldn't put this book down, I had to get all the answers.

The five men of “Team Trojan” had been forced out of the military for doing what was right and honorable. Moving to Fool’s Gold, Colorado, they are transitioning to civilian life as members of the Colorado Branch of the Brotherhood Protectors. Stone Bishop is attracted to Deputy Sparrow Oakley in both a personal and professional way, as he has been hired to “watch her back” when she is not at work. Sparrow’s parents were both, at one time, members of a major crime organization, the same organization that is trying to move into Fool’s Gold. While her father had left the Renegades, her mother is still deeply involved and plans to take over as their leader. Due to her parents’ past, Sparrow has tried to keep others at a distance, but Stone has worked his way past her barriers. When they learn that her mother has plans to “take out” those who are in her way, will Sparrow, Stone and her father be able to put her mother out of commission and remove the threat to Fool’s Gold? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)

In the latest story about the Trojan Team and the lives they have rebuilt after being unfairly blamed for their superior’s mistakes, we get the story of Stone Bishop.
The life as a civilian and member of the Colorado Brotherhood Protectors, is all new and a challenge. One person he never expected to meet and one that will change his life is Sparrow Oakley.
Sparrow has dedicated her years to protecting the inhabitants of Fool’s Gold. Being the daughter of an evil woman who is the leader of the Renegades, a crime organization , has not been easy. Things get worse when she arrests a fellow officer and mentor who unbeknown to her, had been siding with the Renegades.
Stone will do anything to protect Sparrow. But as the suspense and the danger increases, so do feelings. Will they survive the bad guys trying to kill them?
This was another good addition to this action packed series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Stone is adjusting to life away from being a green beret. Luckily he and his team have become part of the Brotherhood Protectors. Since moving to Fool’s Gold he has been attracted to Sparrow Oakley, and has tried repeatedly to get her to agree to go out on a date. Sparrow is a deputy sheriff and used to protecting everyone, and not having anyone protecting her. However, Sparrow comes from a family very much involved both in the past (her father Alfred) and currently (her mother Lilly) in organized crime in Colorado (Renegade Organization). Her mother has vowed that she’s coming back to get Sparrow, and Sparrow’s dad hires Stone to keep her safe. Little did they know that life was just about to get interesting. Loved the twists and turns as Stone and Sparrow get closer to each other, while trying to get to the bottom of where Sparrow’s mom is and to keep Sparrow safe. Loved all the characters and how the brotherhood always helps each other out.

Defending Sparrow is a delightful romantic suspense by Jen Talty. Ms. Talty has provided readers with a well-written story with unexpected twists and turns and furnished with an outstanding cast of characters. Sparrow is a deputy sheriff that grew up tied to the outlaws known as the Renegade Organization. Stone and his team, forced out of the military before they were ready are now part of the Brotherhood Protectors. He's been hired by Sparrow's dad to keep her safe. Sparrow and Stone's story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. This book is book 4 of the the Team Trojan Series in the Brotherhood Protector Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from a third party. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Anyone who has been reading the Colorado Brotherhood series has been waiting for the guys of Team Trojan (and yes that is where they get their name from) after they where mentioned in an earlier book and I definitely couldn't wait for their stories and I wasn't disappointed at all

Years earlier Sparrow's father had turned against his gang the Renegades and his evidence had pout the leader in Jail Now Sparrows mother is the leader and she is determined to bring her daughter into the fold The only problem is that Sparrow is now a deputy sheriff and has no intention of giving into her mother. Things get even more complicated when Sparrow meets Stone the latest addition to the brotherhood protectors with her life barrelling out of her control Stone will need to step up to protect her but can they protect their hearts from falling in love

I received this ARC for an honest review

Sparrow Oakley thought her past was just that on the past. Coming from a criminal organisation. She no interest in the family business unfortunately the organisation is not finished with her.
Stone Bishop was hired by Sparrow's Father to keep an eye out for her. Although Sparrow's Father had walked away from a life of crime. The word is the organisation wants Sparrowsl.
When she has to arrest her senior colleague and a good friend for being involved with the organisation. A long Web of lies had to be unravelled. And an old adversary will do anything to get Sparrow to claim her place in the organisation. Even if it means eliminating those close to her.

This is the 4th book in the series and Jen didn't disappoint! This book has everything you want in a book. This is Stone and Sparrow's story. Stone works the Brotherhood Protectors and Sparrow is a police officer in Fool's Gold. Her father used to be leader of a crime organization until her mother Lilly drops her off to him at age 4. There is trouble in town and they think her mother is back to get Sparrow back into the organization whether she wants to or not. Can Stone keep her safe and between him and his team and Sparrow can they bring her mother down. This book has drama, action, emotion, suspense , questions to be answered and romance. Great addition to the series.

Defending Sparrow is filled with treachery, an outlaw MC gang in the midst of a power struggle, a dirty cop and lots of twists and turns. Sparrow Oakley will finally find love despite her best attempts to avoid it. Stone Bishop wants this spitfire of a woman and he finally has an "in" thanks to Sparrow's dad. It's not an easy road though as the Protectors and the sheriff's department try to sort out the bad guys from the good ones. Keeping Sparrow safe is Stone's number one priority. She's no pushover but ultimately she may have to make a decision between her family and her badge. Not an enviable position.

Another good suspense romance novel from Jen Talty. This is part of the Colorado Brotherhood Protectors series. It has multiple books and authors. So far I only have read Jen’s books and loved this series. This story is Sparrow and Stone’s who I was introduced to in the Athena Project book. Sparrow is a Deputy Sheriff in the small town of Fool’s Gold and Stone a retired Army Ranger. They come together to solve the mystery of the Renegade Organization who her mother is the leader and her father is an ex-member. I will read more of this series too because they are all standalone books with HEA’s.

Being a cop and the daughter of a high-ranking criminal of a drug and gun organization puts a lot of stress on your life and way you live your life. Not being able to meet and fall in love the way regular people do also puts a strain on you. Meeting the men of Team Trojan as they fall for their women, who also are her friends helps lead her to the feelings she has for Stone. Can Sparrow keep Stone in her life as she strives to keep the organization and their leader, her mother at bay? It’s a great addition to the series and worth grabbing.

Defending Sparrow
(Team Trojan #4)
Brotherhood Protesters World
Jen Talty

Being connected to a really bad gang had been her way of life from birth. Sparrow decided that being a deputy would be what she needed for her life to mean something good. Her dad had changed his ways, but her mother was a different story. Stone was hired to protect her, but would their attraction be enough to protect her, her dad, and now Stone. Another action packed Brotherhood Protectors story from Team Trojan. A story you can’t put down until the very end.

The fourth Team Trojan book belongs to Stone and Sparrow, but it has aspects that left me deeply uncomfortable. Stone is initially hired by Sparrow’s father, an ex-Renegade high-ranking member, to protect her when it seems the organization is gearing up with her in their sights. Sparrow and Stone’s romance is one of the best parts of this story – and it’s typically beautifully written. The disquiet comes in respect of the Renegades and what felt like unfinished business or unresolved issues, but this is definitely one to see for yourself.

I really enjoyed Sparrow and Stone's story. I thought this book had a near perfect balance of romance and suspense. Emotion, intensity, drama, thrills and tension are skillfully woven throughout this gripping read and that helped keep me focused and invested. I thought Stone was quite swoon worthy and I really liked Sparrow's fierceness. Together, I felt these two made a wonderful couple that oh, so easily stole my heart. I am electing to post a candid review.

This series keeps getting better and better. There's plenty of action, suspense, just enough heat and HEA. Stone and Sparrow have been dancing around each other, if you've read the other books you would have seen that. Things are happening in town and they believe her mother, Lilly, is behind it. She is truly evil. But she's running the Renegade's and she wants her daughter in the fold. Get ready for a ride in this book.

Chapter four in this series, and it was also an edge of your seat read. Loads of more details in this one with the intricacies of the Renegade Organization to be discovered. It wasn't all put on the reader all at once, details were given out to keep you guessing as you were reading. Loved the give and take between Stone and Sparrow and a very explosive ending. Couldn't put it down.

Another awesome addition to the Team Trojan series.
Sparrow and Stone have been dancing around each other for a while now. They just can’t fight the attraction anymore. But Sparrow comes with a whole bunch of twisted family drama. It’s fun to see how Jen Talty brings it all together. Lots of twists and turns, suspense and a whole lot of sizzling chemistry make for a really great read!

This book has a fast-paced storyline. The characters are very likable and the dialogue is entertaining. I liked how the two main characters, Deputy Sparrow Oakley and former Green Beret and present member of the Brotherhood Protectors, Stone Bishop fought their attraction at first but then gave in to it. They both faced a lot of danger and that kept me turning the pages until the end.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy. Sparrow has a messed up family history but takes pride in being a cop. Her father gets Stone to protect Sparrow but he would anyways as he wants her. As Stone and Sparrow's relationship develops, her mother comes out of the woodwork to mess with Sparrow's life and to get revenge. Aided by an unexpected ally, they manage to thwart her mother. There is unexpected twists in this story to keep you guessing what will happen next.

The story keeps you on the edge of your seat as it is filled with drama, suspense, and the wonderful attraction between Sparrow and Stone. See if you can sort out the good guys from the bad.

Stone is newly employed with the Brotherhood Protectors. When he is hired to protect Sparrow by her Father from the organized crime family he used to be a part of, Stone finds her hard to resist. But Sparrow is worried about the danger she could bring to him from her Mother who is still apart of the Renegades. As they watch for the danger her Mother could bring, a beautiful story unfolds amid all the action and chaos.

Out of the fire

Sparrow and Stone not total opposites, both for the good of the people, protecting is in their nature, coming from a criminal family she is on the right side of the law, running into Stone around town she didn't want to acknowledge the chemistry between them, intense, fast paced, high octane love, Jen Talty is a new author to me and this won't be the last, amazing story and series, thank you, Dana Zamora

Sparrow is a cop, her parents are criminals. Talk about a tough spot to be in. Her father has reformed, her mother hasn't. It is Stone's job as part of the Protectors is to protect Sparrow from the Renegades and her (not-so-nice) Mom. She has a difficult job enforcing the law without the people she knew growing up trying to kill her. Together they work toward a common goal, stomp out evil. Be prepared for a long night reading, you won't want to put it down. Can be read as a stand alone.

I received an ARC Copy of this book and I voluntarily chose to review it. This is a well written book with great characters. Honestly this one isn't my type of book , but I honestly can't give it a bad rating. This one is one you need to take your time with, this one is twisted. I would encourage everyone to get this one. Give this one a chance.

Complicated, yet cool.

Sparrow and Stone were attracted to each other from the first contact. They were caught in a complicated scheme that threatened their life and that of their family. They still found plenty of heat and deep passion for and with each other. Lovely story with ugly relationships.
