Broken Beasts of Beauty

I thought I’d die in the dungeons.

My father is a terrible man. He claimed a demon lived inside me and imprisoned me for months in his torture chamber. Then, one fateful day, he found himself on the bitter end of a curse, and he offered me in exchange for his freedom.

I thought my life was over, but I was wrong.

While trapped within the curse creator's ancient castle, phantoms begin speaking to me, caressing me with invisible hands, and proclaiming I’m theirs. One is cold and possessive, another curious and calculating, and the third… well, he might be damaged beyond repair—just like me.

At night, however, when the phantoms leave, terrifying beasts emerge. Their snarls and roars awaken something dark within me, and their pull is impossible to resist.

I’m changing, becoming something greater than I ever thought I could be.

When the past comes back to haunt me, and my future is compromised, I find myself facing an old enemy. This time, though, I won’t submit. This time, I’ll become the demon he always claimed I was—a broken beast.

Creative theme, overly descriptive

All the feels of a Cinderella retelling mixed with Beauty and the Beast, an awakening to her true purpose and frankly one of the more creative and unique of storylines. I loved Stormy, her fortitude, her resilience, and empathy. Couple that with some hot paranormal, devoted heroes in a cast-away castle and you have all the romance and adventure a reader could love. The setting was simply picturesque, described to my mind's eye as to watch and experience the scene.

At the same time over descriptiveness led to a slow pace and lots of filler in the plot line, so my attention was often distracted. Five chapters at least were spent recounting, detailing everyday minutiae of the castle. The spice was also slow to arrive.

Overall, I liked the story for its creativity and uniqueness, loved the characters, but it was bloated by too much detail for a less than progressive pace, and I lost interest.

OMG, This dark RH romance was one hell of a ride! With that emotional & tragic starting scenes, it gripped me. When our FMC finally meets the 3 guys, it's Magical & Dragon-ful 😍. The mystery, suspense, Riddles, Intrigue, Curse truths, Sexy times, Feels, Hurt, Twists, Fun & It was all so great! I'm so honored to be a part of our 4's journey. Of her coming to power. Especially that REVENGE, Gosh, HELL YES!! I loved the ending & will totally read more by Loxley!

Full RTC soon.

After reading Seven Sins of Snow by Loxley Savage and loving it, I quickly jump into Broken Beast of Beauty. Don’t get me wrong, it was an interesting read but it didn’t pull me in like the previous book I read before by that author(well group of authors). It was still an enjoyable read, I do mot want to add any spoilers to my review so if any of you lovely people have read this book, message me so we can talk about it.

Broken Beasts of Beauty was a very long & crazy dark RH read. I don’t think the book needed to be as long as it was because while there was plot there was also a ton of sex with her 3 mates. The heroine really makes up for her lack of intimacy that’s for sure. One thing that took me by surprise was while reading how long all you know about the heroine is that she’s different and color blind. For about a 1/4 of the book that’s all you know of her and have to witness years of her being tortured for not being able to see color, an affliction her father the king tries to rid her of. She shows some magical powers but nothing all that crazy which just makes the color blind thing harder to swallow. I was clearly really really baffled by this. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Next I was taken aback to learn the characters are actually dragon shifters. Color me surprised because after reading Seven Sins of Snow which featured vampires, I naturally assumed the beasts here would be wolves or maybe bears but again, jokes on me. It was also supremely annoying how often the heroine is called “little bird, little gemstone, little mate, tiny cloud,” and refers to her tiny nub and makes friends with a ‘tiny flame.’

Having said all that, I did enjoy the book, it was very easy to get sucked into especially early on. You need answers into why the heroine is being mistreated so badly. Why her abuse started so early and why being color blind is such a big deal. After she grows up and leaves her home the book picks up and the heroine has treacherous times ahead of her. Not only does she have an entire race to save, mates to bond with and rescue, she also has to work on herself and develop the powers she’s tried to hide for so long and get answers about her own past. Only then may they vanquish their enemies and take back what’s rightfully hers. There is a toooooon of sex in the story, kinda graphic and a little extreme at times so take note if that’s not your thing. I didn’t really get Beauty and the Beast vibes while reading but looking back there were some very loose concepts included. Overall a good read, just unnecessarily long.

A Dark Reverse Harem Beauty and the Beast retelling.

I absolutely love Loxley’s fresh take on a BB retelling. There are so many out there and it’s easy to be repetitive but it is not the case with this book. I was hooked from the beginning and I absolutely love all of the main characters. I don’t want to give anything away because it is a bit of a mystery for quite awhile and it’s quite the crazy ride. One you definitely need to experience for yourself.

Also the perfect amount of dark with a despicable villain that you can’t wait to see lose. A strong FMC coming from a bad place and not letting her last trauma from becoming the fearless heroine that the world needs.

The spice is not disappointing either. Lots and lots of spice. Like all the spice and of course we have group scenes - yay! Worth the read and probably my favorite book from Loxley yet.

What a dark and delicious ride! I love a good fairytale retelling, but the ones that I really adore are reinventions that bring a whole new flair to the beloved story. And Loxley has brought her own magic to one of my favorites- Beauty and the Beast- not only by making it so yummily dark and twisted but by bringing the reverse harem flair. It’s such a fun and unique take.

As far as adaptations go, this one is VERY loose, there are elements that are familiar, but the narrative really shines the most in places where it is original. The characters, as expected, are fantastic- Stormy is a likeable, and I loved the careful way Loxley had her grow into herself while also finding her way. And I love me some bonded mates- Ash, Glacier, and Slaite are pretty yummy, and they sure know how to make a lady purr. (me, I’m that lady….)

This book is a bit of a beast in length- it’s long, magically detailed, and has more than a dash of complicated world building. Loxley is quite a descriptive writer, and with so many characters to establish, I found myself both admiring her keen eye for imagery while also wanting a faster pace. I’ll admit because of this it took be a bit longer to sink my teeth into this story- to find the focus- but once it got there, I was hooked. We had suspense, adventure, twists and turns, shocking revelations, drama, and tons of steam. MEOW. This is equal parts adventure story, a heroine coming into her own power, and romance - an intoxicating and magic mixture.

Brava to Loxley for creating such a dynamic, and unique take on a well loved fairytale. Can’t wait to see what she tackles next!

I was drawn to this book by the summary and the book cover. This book is so good. Reverse harem stories are the latest book genres. Readers wanting to dip their toe into this genre should pick up this book to read. It is HOT!

I have read many fairy tale retellings but this book is one of the most unique I have read in a long time. I did not feel a need to compare to the original while reading.

Stormy and her three men are great. There is no one favorite of the three men as each one was unique in their own way. The spicy scale started at jalapeno and ended at Carolina Reaper! Broken Beasts of Beauty is not Disney Plus level but Showtime.

⚠️ This is a dark book. Non-con (touching), torture, abuse. (Outside of the harem.)

This has just become my favourite book of Loxley's! I love a good fairy tale retelling—especially Beauty and the Beast—and she did it proud. She created a beautifully descriptive world with everything you could possibly want—darkness, fear, hope, love, heartbreak, joy. I laughed, cried, raged and had to drag out the fan for certain scenes. 🔥🔥🔥

I honestly loved everything about it. The guys are amazing, the little hints from the movie scattered about, the way everything is described...it was like I was there in person.

Utterly fantastic, Loxley! I can't wait to see what's next! ❤

If you love fairytales then look no further, Broken Beasts of Beauty is a mix of Cinderella and Beauty and The Beast with a Paranormal twist. Resulting in a dark, mysterious, twisted yet steamy uniquely different fairytale retelling by Loxley Savage.

3.85 ⭐️

Right from the beginning Loxley Savage had us diving in the deep end with acknowledging all the emotions and feelings that poured out from having to see the cruel pain and suffering that Bronwynd ‘Stormy’ endures in her life. Considering the torturous torment she faced on a daily basis from her father's abuse had your heartbreaking for Bronwynd. Especially seeing just how alone she was with having no one there to help her.

There is so much to say about this retelling, but to avoid spoilers I hope the following will give you a gist of what to expect upon reading Broken Beasts of Beauty.
The narrative that Loxley made up, lead you on a complex journey that is filled to the brim with many twists and turns within the labyrinth of obstacles that Bronwynd has to trek throughout. It’s what resulted in a lot of suspense from the anticipation build up of what would occur and when we would get our answers, considering all the questions that continued to be raised throughout. All of which ultimately resulted in shocking and stunned surprises from the revelations that were finally divulged and/or exposed. None of which wasn’t without drama, turmoil and mayhem considering the overall expedition Bronwynd has to brave through to reach her ultimate HEA ending. Something she never stopped fighting for, proving she was a strong, fierce warrior.
Even with all that going on, Loxley still managed to bring sexy time with all the FIREY, BURNING HOT steam. Especially when it came to Bronwynd letting lose with Glacier, Ash and Slaite (her harem) by getting down and dirty with their raunchy, risqué, erotic and spicy acts of sexual pleasures.

Whilst I did enjoy Broken Beasts of Beauty overall, considering the emphasis on all the details included, which gave the story a more realistic and genuine feel in being able to imagine and see everything down to the littlest detail. However this also happened to be a downfall for myself at the same time too, which I know sounds contradictory. But IMO considering how many chapters were dedicated to the description alone, it just made the story a little too long for my liking with the description feeling more like a filler. Resulting in the narrative's progression moving at a snail pace with seeming like the story wasn't really going anywhere (especially when you consider how long the entire book is) IMO. This is what made it harder for me to push through the story at that particular point, thinking and wondering when it would pick up again to capture my attention. Which thankfully it did manage to do, once those chapters past of course.

Despite all that, new to me author Loxley Savage still had me enjoying my first read of hers with Broken Beasts of Beauty. The fact that it was a story unlike I have ever read before in being unique and different, ultimately lead me to still liking the story on a whole (despite my issues) and being glad I had the opportunity to read it.

Thank You Loxley for letting me be an early reader for this absolutely wonderful unique retelling book! This was actually my first book I have ready by Loxley and it surely did not disappoint one bit! The story was so different and unique from what I usually read in a way. It was such a cool idea to do a spinoff on a BB fairytale and all the characters were super interesting to learn about. This was one great Dark romance read for sure with plenty of steam!! Gotta love a good steamy book!

So much went on in this book and I had to know how it was going to end. Even though it was quite a long one, it was all worth it!!

Looking forward to reading all other books by Loxley!!
Thank you again for the early opportunity of reading it!

This book was soo good. I laughed and cried along with the characters. Browdyn was raised to believe she had a demon inside of her. She lives a cruel and painful life until she is sacrificed for a curse. Her whole life changes that day and she learns things she never thought were true. Another masterful fairytale retailing by Loxely Savage

I love Beauty and the Beast and I love reverse harem romances, so when this book fell into my lap (or into my inbox rather) I was so excited! Loxley Savage is a newer author to me but her most recent story did not disappoint! This book reads like a fairytale with its cursed kingdoms and wicked rulers, and a ferocious heroine who is resilient during tough times and brave when faced with the unknown. The mannerisms of the characters set the scene beautifully in this modern twist on a tale as old as time. This book took my breath away while simultaneously keeping me on my toes as to what was going to happen next. There are also plenty of those oh-so-satisfying moments where what happened earlier in the book finally make sense and clicks into place, which adds to this book’s appeal. The attention to detail in this book made it so that I could picture what was happening along with the setting inside of my mind, and even the smallest details included from the original fairytale left me grinning. Broken Beasts of Beauty is a wild ride that will take you by surprise in the best of ways. Bronwynd is a character that I will forever hold near and dear to my heart and I cannot wait to see people’s reactions to her story! If you’re a fan of paranormal romances, fairytales, and Beauty and the Beast, then this is the perfect book for you.

Take every Beauty and the Beast retelling you have read and throw it out the window. Loxley Savage puts her own dark, paranormal and creative spin on this classic tale, you won’t even recognize it. Subtle nods, yes. But this was not was I was expecting and I really enjoyed it.

Our princess, Stormy, is a strong character and I loved watching her grow into herself as she deals with the numerous hardships that have been pushed on her. Each of her men were distinguishable and each had an important role in this story.

The author weaved an intricate story and her world building was so detailed and vibrant. You became completely lost in the history and just wanted to know more. This book was long, but detailed and well worth the occasional slow pace that was needed to focus on different parts of the world.

A unique and creative adaptation loosely based on a classic tale. I look forward to the next adaption Loxley Savage sinks her creative paws into next.

I love a good fairytale retelling and I especially love the ones that are darker more twisted. Broken Beasts of Beauty is fantastic and not what I was expecting.

Bronwyn’s life has been nothing but pain and suffering at the hands of her father. When she’s finally free from her father’s abuse, she meets three broken beasts and finds the true purpose of her life.

Bronwyn is one tough FMC. After everything she’s had to endure, she was never truly broken. And the men….I love that Loxley Savage created these sexy men from the elements.

The mystery and twists and turns in this book will hold you captive. Loxley Savage’s descriptive writing is beautifully done. If you want a good Beauty and the Beast retelling, Broken Beasts of Beauty is one to read.

Broken Beasts of Beauty is promoted as a dark reverse harem romance but it is so much more than that, weaving a tale of both light and shade that is pure magic. It was easy to be swept away by this book with the amazing world that Loxley Savage created and the characters that you couldn't help but love or hate.

Broken Beasts of Beauty is a fairy tale retelling but with the heat dialed to ten. It can be loosely divided into two parts the 'darker' first section, approximately 17%, which showcases the increasing negative relationship between the main characters Stormy (Bronwynd) and King Brakken and the fairytale majority where Stormy finds her true destiny. Of course in grown up fairy tales that involves a reverse harem of three sexy men, one of which has darker but consensual tastes. I would strongly recommend reading this book without spoilers as the discovery of Stormy's mysteries is half of the enjoyment of this book.

Loxley Savage has created some amazing characters in this book and I love all of Stormy's men, Ash, Glacier and Slaite. She was able to capture the light and dark in all of her characters so well and it made reading this book a joy. Broken Beasts of Beauty has some scorching scenes as Stormy claims or is claimed by her harem showing once again this is more than a Disney remake.

Broken Beasts of Beauty is a unique dark fairytale retelling that make you feel everything. I would recommend it for readers who like fantasy romance, fairytale retellings, dark romance, mystery, all the feels and hot & spicey scenes.

*Trigger Warning - there are darker elemenets inclued in this book including toture and abuse.

A Beauty and the Beast retelling, but make it dark and steamy 🔥

When I found out this book was going to be an RH romance too, I had to read it! I was so captured by the story and I couldn’t get enough. You’ll fall in love with these three men who will do everything in their power to protect and care for their woman. Their determination to save their kind is just as admirable. Not only that, but I also loved Stormy/Bronwynd’s strength after what she’d gone through. The chemistry she has with her men had me both swooning and blushing. 🥵

This book is so worth the read and I highly recommend it. I’m excited for what Loxley Savage puts out next!

Broken Beasts of Beauty is a dark reverse harem retelling of Beauty and The Beast - and it 100% definitely did not disappoint!

This was everything and more that I wanted, and gripping intricate story, full of twists, suspense and some absolutely hot as hell scenes. And yes, we do get group scenes!

I spent my time reading this book, as I was just so completely captivated by the world Loxley has created. For all my dark RH fans out there, this is definitely one you won't want to miss out on!

I wanted to like this book. I really did. RH, paranormal aspect. It all sounded great for a Beauty and the Beast retelling.

However, it was dismally slow. There were so many filler chapters and the fact that there were solid chapters where Bronwynd, the heroine, didn’t interact with other people made it painfully boring.

The phantoms were intriguing but there wasn’t enough interaction with them to create the mysterious aspect before it was revealed what they were. The relationship building didn’t fit with Bronwynd’s past trauma. *I’ll never let a man touch me again. JK these guys can* mm. Just no.

Slaite being more traumatized by her trauma than she is bothered me also. Like many of the other reviews have stated, I didn’t like that she was meant to be fearless or stated to be fearless and embrace the darkness but she jumps at every little thing. I think she was meant to come across as mature, but she reads as the opposite.

Plus. She’s color blind and thus doesn’t know the color names but immediately begins describing things like cream and blonde and brown.

I wonder if she self edited also because there were plenty of instances where the wrong word was used or spelled incorrectly. In addition to this, the punctuation was all over the place.

The modern day swearing and phrases like “slapped the piss out of” don’t make sense in the context of this book either.

H all over the place

I didn't get past 27%. I love a new darker telling of beauty and the beast! but this book, I just couldn't get my mind to wrap around a few things. Our main character was such a contradiction to herself, I found I couldn't read or even attempt to go on. When we started we read of a princess who's so different from her sisters, she's not afraid of the dark, it calls to her. yet as we read on to when she's in the castle, its like she's practically scared of everything? She's practically running and freaking out for nothing really at all? I just don't understand? We read all the bad her father has done, and how much she says he's the real monster, yet 26% in she's still thinking her father was right that she's some demon? She talks about how she's nothing and no one? Yet there are times she holds her head high because she's a princess? and then there is her being lonely, and screaming how shes ready to see these phantoms. Yet when they show her a little bit she totally freaks out and runs? Its like she's two totally different ppl every 5 mins. I was really interested in finding out who these guys were and about what ever the whole curse was. I even wanted to see her family pay! But I just couldn't get into our H what's so ever

I am about halfway through this and it's so unbelievably boring. The FMC is a mess it's like the author couldn't decide what kind of character she is so she tried to make her everything and the guys just play so obvious head games.

Let’s start with YOU broke me…with the beginning of this book. I could only get past the first couple chapters before, I couldn’t take much more, so…I had to stop, to get tissues and wine, because of what transpired there. Definitely… go in blind, because you need to not expect anything.

This is a tale that is as old as time! I loved the twist, oh, how I loved it, at some point you may have an inkling, but I did not see that twist, in this case.

Beauty and the beast was my all-time favourite princess story as a child, over the years I've read many books that have has used the elements of the story!

But I've never been more invested than this one.

XOXO Lottie.

3.5 - 4 Stars!

Being new to Ms.Savage's work I've been looking forward to picking up her books! As soon as I saw the cover and read the synopsis for this book i knew i had to read it first! I enjoyed this story!

Right from the prologue this story grabbed my attention! Stormy's journey is a dark one. I wasn't sure what all to expect going into this story and I really liked how it was different. I enjoyed the RH aspect of this story as well!

With Broken Beasts of Beauty, Ms.Savage has created a good read! I am looking forward to picking up Seven Sins of Snow!

This book is amazing. When I started reading it I just couldn't stop
It's brutal and beautiful all at the same time. Each character brings something different that draws you to them and makes you love them and dislike them while you explore what is going on.
Once you start, be prepared because you will not be able to stop... it will draw you in and you will need to know more
