About the author

Tara Beth Leach is senior pastor of First Church of the Nazarene of Pasadena in Southern California. She is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University (BA, youth ministry) and Northern Theological Seminary (MDiv). She is a regular writer for Missio Alliance and has contributed to other publications such as Christianity Today, Christian Week, The Jesus Creed, The Table Magazine, Reflecting the Image Devotional, Renovating Holiness, and most recently a chapter in The Apostle Paul and the Christian Life. She has two beautiful and rambunctious sons, and has been married to the love of her life, Jeff, since 2006.

2.5 stars—It wasn’t quite what I expected or needed. This book is part of a series of nine 40-day devotionals based on your enneagram number. Each has a different author that shares the enneagram number in the title. So, this rating is not a reflection on the series.

There were days, lines and moments that resonated with me and felt impactful. But, overall it was not my favorite.

This is the best enneagram devotional I have read. I’ve read a couple other devotionals or journals and nothing compares to reading devotions written by your type, especially when she is a thoughtful, nuanced writer and pastor. Every devotion had a theme I could relate to and a message I needed to hear. I’m so thankful for Tara Beth for writing this devotional for her fellow 6s.

This devotional was recommended to me by a friend and then also by an employee at a bookstore. I definitely connected with the words and some of the experiences the author was explaining, as a fellow enneagram six. However, I felt like the devotional was rather surface level. I read it in unison with another devotional to supplement my reading.

When I bought this book, I thought I was an enneagram six. I have since spent time reflecting on my life in heath and unhealth and have discerned I am actually a one. That being said, I am married to a six and still resonated with many parts of this book. Tara Beth Leach was honest and brave. I think there is much to be learned from the way others see in the world.

It became very clear of political views ect. Not the book for me. I also felt like the author was more concerned about telling you who a 6 is, I know who I am. I was hoping to grow.

After reading several Enneagram devotions, this was my favorite and the most relatable. Each day is like a warm hug with a deep well of wisdom. I deeply resonated with much of Tara Beth’s writings and will re-read this from time-to-time.
