This was a quick, light and summer-orientated read with a rom-com feel. It took a rich, entitled instagrammer/influencer Jolie, on a journey to Costa Rica and eventually humanised her into a more grounded person. She was a bit vapid but still entertaining.

Then came an accidental kidnapping (yes, I did say that) which was rather funny and Kai found himself landed with Jolie running through the jungle to escape some drug dealers. These two had fun chemistry and the story was engaging.

This wasn't a deep read, it didn't require a lot concentration and so its great for the beach. I would have enjoyed a bit more in terms of story development and longer connection.

Thank you to Three Dimples Publising for the early review copy.

Exit Through The Jungle is a lighthearted contemporary romance that kept me easily entertained without trying to dazzle me with its outrageous plot. The absurdity of which, is not lost on me. Nevertheless I think this book was really enjoyable. It reminded me of a romantic comedy with all the crazy twists and turns that thrust the two characters into unlikely situation after unlikely situation. I loved the setting of the jungle for the two main characters to navigate; however, this made up only a small portion of the novel instead of taking a larger role as initially expected. The romantic tension and build up between the Kai and Jolie fell a little flat for me as well. I think the close proximity of the jungle was a great way for them to develop a relationship, but it felt a bit rushed in hindsight. If more time had been taken to lay the groundwork on building their connection then I would have loved it all the more. Instead I felt a bit indifferent and impartial to the characters themselves outside of the story. There are definitely things to appreciate about this book because it was quite humorous and the premise was entertaining in and of itself, but there were some elements that I found lacking. With regards to my rating, I was feeling that this was more of a 2.5, but decided to round up to three because of how entertained I was by all of the adventure and diversions.

I loved Exit Through the Jungle by Alicia Crofton. Set in beautiful Costa Rica, it’s one part adventure, one part love story with a dash of finding yourself that makes the perfect beach read. This book was fast paced and an easy read. Jolie is stubborn, creative and intensely likable, she makes a deal with her father that she can make her business work or she’ll return home to work an office job for him. Kia is worried, kind and carries all his family's burdens on his toned biceps. He’s trying to help keep his brother out of trouble when the two are thrown together. I gasped and laughed out loud several times, Crofton is a talented writer whose plot surprised this reader in the best way! Dialogue was great, I loved seeing the interactions in Kai’s family and between him and Jolie. There was a Gift of the Magi moment that made me love Kai and Jolie all the more. This book puts the romance in romcom and is quite spicy. Can’t wait to see more of these characters in the next book!

ARC review: Although this book has already been published, I have originally received this as an ARC. I usually am reading dark/thriller books so this cute romance book was a nice change.
Jodie, the protagonist, has a relatable job in this current world as an influencer/blogger. However, a lot of the things that happened in the book was too unreal/cheesy for me. (ex: getting lost in the jungle with a hot male with a chiseled body, encountering a jaguar, and overall getting away with lots of things that seemed too much).
If you enjoy cute romances, this might be the book for you!
Overall, I liked it as an escape from the current event going around me in the real world!

An adventurous romance easy read! Started this book while in Costa Rica which also maybe why I loved it but it really is the perfect vacay book. Great story telling and such a fun thrilling plot! Haven’t found a feel good romance I’ve really enjoyed in a while, this one I flew through!

This is a short story and it was an easy read. Jolie and Kai relationship kinda flat. I don't feel the romance here or the connection. I don't feel any spark or even excitement reading this book. I just wanted to finish this book and done with it.

I don't like Jolie duh I mean when they get lost in the jungle she was mad when Kai don't want to have sex with her like wtf girl?? Why do you have to act like that? Goshhh

Thank you Netgalley, publisher and author for this ARC!

2.5 stars, rounded down

It was alright. While I love adventure romances, a lot of them can be over the top with too much suspension of disbelief required and unfortunately that was the case here. A lot of what happened was completely ridiculous and not remotely believable. Especially the scenes with Kai’s mother.

Exit through the Jungle is a fun adventure romance set against the lush jungles and landscapes of Costa Rica.

The thing I enjoy most about Ms. Crofton is her writing style. She does an excellent job of transporting us there with her lush descriptions and making us feel like we’re in the story. I felt like I was there watching Jolie and Kai encounter all their obstacles once they go into the jungle.

The story had a nice pace and I was compelled to keep reading to find out what happened to Jolie and Kai and if they could overcome their struggles. It was beautiful to watch Jolie’s character growth to aspire to something greater since she starts as a woman who goes vegan just to be relevant on Instagram.

I recommend to anyone looking for a quick, fun romance with a strong sense of time and place.

I’ve read all of Ms. Crofton’s work and this novel is her best one yet. She just keeps getting better and better.

Thanks to NetGalley and Three Dimples Publishing for a free e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. Release date: 29 August 2020.

This is a really hard book for me to rate, because I thoroughly enjoyed it and the entertainment value is at least four stars.

That being said, I feel there are a few problematic aspects. First off, I get that Kai is supposed to be this tortured hero who will do anything to save his family, but a lot of his actions are really, really wrong, no matter how you try to spin it.

Secondly, Jolie was super vain. Which is fine; there's nothing wrong with taking an interest in how you look, but it bothered me how she got mad at Kai whenever he didn't want to drop everything and sleep with her. There's even one point where she says (I'm paraphrasing) something along the lines of no man would ever turn down a naked girl as often as he did. She just expects sex and gets mad when she doesn't get it.

The story was far fetched but an easy read, and the premise is unlike any other I've read.

Overall, I really did enjoy the book and while the relationship developed a bit too quickly for my taste, their chemistry was really well portrayed.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was a bizarre one. This would make an excellent romantic comedy, something similar to The Hangover with a lot of unbelievable drama and twists and over the top shenanigans.

The beginning few chapters jump between Kai and Jolie’s perspective. She, a struggling blogger who is trying to make her blog cool again to avoid succumbing to her father’s controlling ways; and He, a brother and son trying to save his family from bad decisions. Eventually their stories converge as Kai accidentally takes Jolie hostage and then they are chased into and get lost in the Costa Rican jungle for a few days. There’s also a drug cartel angle and of course forbidden love.. all over the course of.. maybe like a week? It was just a lot and I just kept saying “this isn’t how people talk.” “This isn’t how people act.” That being said, it was a cute, easy read and it made me want to go to Costa Rica.

ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked the premise of this book, the forced proximity trope is one I tend to love and the addition of the rainforest setting made this even more appealing. The writing style was also pretty decent and flowed well.

However, I felt like the pacing of this book wasn't quite right. The first 30% was mainly scene setting and getting to know the characters which was fine, however it did take a bit to get into. Then the majority of the romance and them being lost took place between 30-65%, because of this I struggled to buy the relationship and it all felt a bit rushed. Considering this was the reason I wanted to red the book it was quite disappointing. I would have liked this to have been longer and allowed the relationship to develop more. The last 35% of the book then felt dragged out and contrived.

In terms of the characters there wasn’t anything I particularly disliked about them, but I didn’t become attached to them either.

Overall it was a pretty interesting book, but could have been formatted better to make the most of the story and the characters.

*I received an ARC of this book from the author. I'm not normally a romance reader unless it combines with a mystery of suspense book, but I may change my reading likes after reading this book. Jolie's adventures in Costa Rica really appealed to me and when she meets Kai in a very unusual situation, it was even better. This book touches on kidnapping, drug dealing, animal rescue, and the problems with being a free-spirited person. The themes all blend together to make a very good read. I will definitely read more from Alicia Crofton. I love her writing style.

What a fun read!
This book is not meant to be taken seriously. It's silly and fun, and it reminds me of the action and adventure movies from the 80s and 90s (like Princess Bride or Romancing the Stone).

I love how the main character finds her path toward helping the animals, and the author's tribute to the animal rescue center that inspired her story was such a nice surprise to find in the acknowledgments.

Kai is such a sweetie! When he asks Jolie if she needs a hug, I fell in love! The poor guy kept getting into trouble in a comedic way, but when Jolie and Kai get together, it's priceless.

I can't wait to follow Noah, the younger brother, in the next book of the series! I have to know what happened to the van!!

Do you want to escape your pandemic quarantine and get kidnapped by accident in lush, vibrant Costa Rica? Cool me too. Read this!

Jolie Boulard, insta famous yogi/entrepreneur of San Francisco, travels to Costa Rica to reinvigorate her brand. She does just that, but she also finds herself on a madcap adventure with some romance.

Jolie and Kai meet in a VERY unconventional way and their romance is anything but simple, but they end up living that Pura Vida.

If you’re an animal lover, who craves adventure and a tropical rainforest locale - this is the book for you!

Book rating: 200 kilos of accidentally acquired narcotics/ 200. 👌🏻

I received this ARC from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

As mentioned in other reviews, the premise of this book is excellent however, the key relationship in this story develops in only about a third of the novel. While I did like learning more about each character, I found them to be more on a journey of independent growth rather than a journey together. This is likely due to the characters only interacting with each other for about a third, possibly a bit more, or the story. Sadly the exiting through the jungle portion of this story was short lived as well. The ending felt dragged out and rushed at the same time, choosing to focus more on Jolie’s life and less on Kai’s, which as one involves the legal system and more characters, it arguably should have taken more of this space. They did endure high adrenaline and life altering events together, which of course would lead to romantic feelings, but they never truly get to know one another either.

There is a lot of potential in this story and I am interested to know if the sequel will be about a different character or if it will continue to be about Kai and Jolie.

As a side note: I did really enjoy learning about different ways wildlife rescues help provide relief and protection to the animals in the rainforest.

Social Media Influencer Jolie Boulard is living the good life - in front of the camera. In actuality her personal brand is struggling, sponsors are dropping her without warning and she's completely broke. In a desperate attempt to rebrand she decides to become vegan and books herself a retreat in Costa Rica. Things are going well until on a shopping trip she accidentally witnesses a crime and is thrown into a van. Kidnapped and taped to a chair she is at the mercy of the three men. But not all of the men seem to be happy about the situation and one in particular seems sympathetic to her plight. Somehow she manages to get him to agree to help her and they find themselves on the run and lost in the jungles of Costa Rica.

I know it seems like I just told y'all about the whole dang book, but in reality that is just the first couple chapters! There is so much going on, blackmail, organized crime, forbidden romance, eco conservation and more. I really loved the dual narration in this book, it added so much dimension to the story and to the characters.

This would make an amazing movie. Definitely consider checking this one out!

The premise of Exit Through the Jungle is a typical rom-com: people meet in unusual circumstances and fall in love. It should work but there are too many problematic moments in the book for the reader to really get into it.
Jolie is an Instagram influencer, forever on the hunt for the perfect shot. But her brand is waning and she needs a shot of cash to make it work. This means going to her dad to ask for a loan. He’s skeptical but agrees with the stipulation that she’s written out of his will if she can’t succeed.
Kai is settling his dad’s coffee estate and is the only sensible one of his brothers. This isn’t so bad but things escalate quickly: there are drugs and cartels; kidnapping and a botched robbery that are all on the doorstep of Kai and his brothers. That there is any kind of redemption of these men seems like it’s really stretching the bounds of reality.
Exit Through the Jungle tries really hard to shock the reader but it ends up being a mess. Jolie’s love of animals and her push to remain independent from her father still doesn’t make the reader want her to succeed. And Kai is supposed to be a good guy, except that he aids and abets some of the most troubling decisions in the book. Hopefully, the author does better in the next book.

Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for an ARC of this book!
I was interested in this book because the description vaguely reminded me of Romancing the Stone (which I love dearly). Also the adventure-romance genre is not nearly as prolific as I'd like it to be.

At first I really didn't like the main character (Jolie). She's everything you expect based on the description of the book; vapid, self-obsessed, spoiled, generally annoying (like deciding to go vegan in an attempt to gain social media followers). Kai's chapters early on, however, were a bit more interesting as things for him quickly spiral of of control.

Once the characters intersected, I started to like Jolie a bit more.

That being said, this book suffers from "two characters who are so heartbreakingly beautiful and the perfect, hottest possible human specimens that have ever existed" syndrome.

Speaking of syndrome: Jolie clearly has Stockholm Syndrome because there's literally no reason she should fall for Kai (other than his astounding hotness and the fact that he was nicer to her than the guy who wanted to kidnap her). Can you feel the aggressiveness of my eye-rolling right now?

I struggled with enjoying this book. The writing itself is compulsively readable, and like I said, I have a soft spot for any adventure 'slash' love story (think The Princess Bride, Romancing the Stone, The African Queen, North by Northwest, The Mummy, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Indiana Jones, etc), but the thing that really didn't work for me with this book..?

The characters!

I didn't like them all that much individually, and together they were even worse. They just didn't make any sense as a couple. A crazy (not)jungle fling, maybe. But a legit, rest of their lives couple? No way, I'm not buying it...

This author shows a lot of promise.

I'd definitely be interested in reading more of their work (and I'd have liked this one a lot more if any of the characters were just a bit more likeable).

2.5 stars but I'll round it up to 3 because there was definitely some fun and adventure to be had.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first introduction to the author so I got into this book with little or no expectations except the fact that it was classified as "Romance and Humor" and I wanted to read something light and fun.

'Exit Through The Jungle' is a story set mainly in the Central American country of Costa Rica and it follows Jolie, an American Instagram influencer who travels there in a bid to get her online business back on track after losing most of her clients. She accidentally gets thrown in the middle of a blackmail and drug cover-up featuring three brothers Kai, Raffi and Noah who kidnap her and eventually finds herself in close proximity with Kai who tries to help her escape but unfortunately they get lost in the jungle and have the surprise adventure of their lives.

This was supposed to be a light and quick read but It took me a while to get into the story because I didn't find the premise believable and most of the characters were not really likable. However, somewhere half way into reading the book, the story picked up a bit when Kai and Jolie got lost in the jungle but I found the dialogue a bit poor and their "romance" too quick for my liking. I also didn't get the humor in the story if any and that was something I was looking forward to. The end was also flat and predictable with exceptions of some "shocking" revelations made by Kai's mother so It wasn't the best shot for me. I believe there was a good story in here but the way in which it was told did not do real justice to it.

On the bright side, this was my first time reading a book set in Costa Rica and I am now really curious about the Country. This story has spurred my interest to visit San Jose in the near future hoping that the world would get back to normal soon.

This book didn't leave an impression on me but if you are interested in reading something light and mindless then you may enjoy reading this book.

A few weeks ago, Alicia Crofton sent me an ARC for her book, Exit Through the Jungle in exchange for an honest review, and I was more than happy to read it.

Exit Through the jungle is light summer read. Set in Costa Rica, this book is the perfect one to cuddle up on a couch and get lost in a beautiful paradise full of humour and romance.
Jolie Boulard is an Instagram model and yogi but mysteriously the brands have stopped contacting her and she’s going broke. I liked and related to the character of Jolie. She’s light, carefree, doesn’t overthink and has her priorities set. When she wants something done, she’ll get it done. She is strong and knows how to protect herself (and the girl can headbutt.) Plus, she loves yoga.
Kai Greene is a serious character, who wants to keep his family together and will do anything to take care of his mother, even if it meant kidnapping a girl. By accident, of course. But Kai’s has to pay for his brother’s mistakes and somehow with one exciting event leading to another Kai and Jolie end up in a jungle, erm...rainforest, together.

The humour in his book is really good. I couldn’t stop that goofy smile that kept coming over my face as I read this book. Alicia Crofton’s writing style is so amazing and I loved the snarky remarks and witty exchanges that followed throughout. There was never a “boring” moment and before even realising, three hours have passed and you’re still turning the page looking for more.
One of the amazing things is it talks about animals, why they are adorable, and a rescue centre.

Who I’d recommend this book to:
If you are looking for something light and breezy, set in a getaway land and something to make you laugh, go for this book, try it out! If you love excited dogs, cute cats, jumpy monkeys and lazy blinking sloths, grab yourself a copy.

Exit Through the Jungle follows a social media influencer, Jolie, who takes a trip to Costa Rica in order to find a way to better her account/brand. She's broke and needs a way to attract companies ASAP.

The story was sweet, light-hearted, and pretty cute overall. I liked how Alicia Crofton wrote the main characters (Jolie and Kai) with specific backstories. Jolie had to face financial issues because of her mother, and was constantly patronized by her father. Kai learned about his mother's infidelity, and had to face life changes because of his father's work life. The rainforest and the city settings were described well, and were easy to visualize. The author's writing style is very enjoyable.

Although I'm always looking for romances that are a little different, the romance build-up in this story was perfect even if it was a little "trope-y" and cliché (not that that's a bad thing)!

Some points in the story were a little unrealistic to me. For example, when Kai's mother was speaking about Noah's love life and Kai's, her wording just seemed a little off to me.
I also did not like how throughout the book, Kai was constantly... shamed? for having a flip phone. Some people are a little less well off than others, but there's no reason to be made fun of for that. I get that this was just a little light-hearted romance, but that just irked me a little bit.

Overall, this wasn't the best book I've ever read, but it wasn't the worst.
A solid 3.45 stars!

I was kindly gifted an advance readers copy from Three Dimples Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I’m a day late in finishing this one so the book did actually release yesterday.

First of all I have to say I love the cover! I love the simplicity and bold colours, I have read this may be a series so I hope they all follow the same design.

When I first heard about this one I was reminded of On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves, a couple stranded in an inhabitable environment while tension builds between the two of them. It was right up my alley, I had high expectations of the romance, but it wasn’t as I expected.

I was surprised at how the book started, I was expecting some sort of holiday gone wrong but it was more exciting than that. It started quite slow with a slow build of the background of both characters, both which interwind quite well. I was concerned that I wouldn’t like Jolie’s character as she was quite self centred at the beginning but I did grow to like her as the book went on.

I was surprised at how little of the book was set in the jungle itself, since its the main plot and what the book is named after, I liked the romance but felt it was quite quick to develop, it was almost from nothing to everything, there was some slow burn but not an awful lot from what you would expect from a romance novel.

I did find the ending quite abrupt, the build up of Kai’s background didn’t really get resolved, rather it felt like things were wrapped up quickly to get it out the way.

Overall I did enjoy it, I wished there was more build up to the romance and maybe more plot centred about the actual jungle. So I’d give this one 4/5 stars.

Jolie and Kai are such an odd-ball couple, but Alicia Crofton really brings the chemistry and it makes this book work.

Jolie is a standard millennial trying to make it as an Instagram influencers, to avoid a stuffy 9-5 job working under her uber wealthy dad. Her sponsors begin to drop like flies, and Jolie takes one last chance to re-vamp her brand by taking a mostly spontaneous trip to Costa Rica.

Kai’s home visiting his family following the passing of his father, with the sole goal of helping his older brother keep their coffee roasting business afloat. Turns out, he ends up with a tone of illegal drugs in his warehouse because of the stupid brother, coupled with a debt to the neighboring business (due to blackmail regarding illegal drugs), and Kai is stuck.

In his normal life, it’s safe to assume Kai plays it safe. He is economical (he has a flip phone and a studio apartment in the city!). He works in finance. He hardly dates.

And now, he’s stuck rescuing his family, protecting them around every corner from danger, including self-inflicted danger caused by his older brother’s harebrained ideas.

When these two main characters collide, quite literally, their lives change. Kai becomes a kidnapper, and Jolie becomes a fighter with a soft side for her kidnapper. Turns out, Kai isn’t very good at kidnapping, and Jolie isn’t very good at being kidnapped, and they end up running away and lost in the jungle for several days.

Enter: jaguars, monkeys, sloths, ants, injuries, steamy chemistry, and too much self control for Jolie’s preference.

Give this book a read to find out if they make it out alive, and check out Exit Through Tortuga Bay, out August 13th!

Exit Through the Jungle is an exotic and fast-paced adventure romance that follows the life of a spunky and determined influencer, Jolie, who embarks on a journey to save her diminishing social media career. Jolie comes from a life of privilege and wealth, and she is willing to give up everything to achieve her dreams as a top influencer, including her relationship with her controlling father and her inheritance.

As a last ditch effort to save her career, she takes an excursion to Costa Rica in hopes of rebranding her image. But, she is in dangerous territory when she’s an eyewitness to a crime, which results in her being kidnapped and being held hostage by desperate and irrational men in need of a large sum of money to save their family business. This story takes the reader on a crazy ride as Jolie has to fight for her life as she tries to escape through the dangerous Costa Rican jungle. Readers are left in suspense as they anxiously turn the pages to see if she will survive this treacherous nightmare.

Along the way, a happenstance romance develops between two unlikely people, and the reader’s emotions will be put to the test watching this unique love story unfold. This is an energetic and electrifying book that will keep you hooked until the very last page.

On a more personal note, I really enjoyed reading about the author’s inspiration for the story, learning about her efforts to create awareness about animals at risk, and hearing about her selfless efforts to help prevent animals from being hurt.

Thank you Netgalley & Alicia Crofton for gifting me a free eARC of this book to read. These opinions are my own.

🔥 🔥 2/5 Steam Rating
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 Stars

This book right here is the perfect beach read to close out your summer! Two people thrust into the most unbelievable situation, sizzling romantic tension running below the surface, escaping from danger, and a touch of finding oneself, all thrown into one easy to read story. While this book does put the characters into sexual situations, it’s nothing too explicit, though I’d not recommend it for teens.

I loved how easy to read this story was; it was entertaining without adding in any unnecessary fluff. I really enjoyed the main characters. Jolie is an independent woman that doesn’t want what society tells her she should, and she’s willing to put her inheritance on the line to make that happen. She’s a “wildcat”; strong, independent, and can put up a fight when needed. And Kai... he’s a fixer, a protector. He’s a bit uptight but it’s because he takes the weight of the world on his shoulders.

I wish that Jolie & Kai would have been lost in the jungle a bit longer. While I enjoyed the scenes that did occur in the jungle, I think that it was a lost opportunity to build their relationship a bit more under that secluded situation. I expected a bit more, seeing that it’s what the book was titled from.

Exit Through The Jungle By Alicia Crofton

Rating: 3.5 / 5 Stars

Publication Date: 8/29/2020

** Thank you to Netgalley, Three Dimples Publishing, and of course, Alicia Crofton, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I LOVE these types of rom-com reads for the summer so this book came at a perfect time for me. I finished it in one sitting! Who doesn’t love Costa Rica for a setting? I finished this book in one day! :)

Exit is part love story, but more adventure - which I loved. It provided the main core theme of finding yourself, which is one of my favorites. Our main character is Jolie, a stubborn, creative, and hard worker - and can I say, incredibly likable for the main character. Her goal is to bring her business to fruition, a deal she makes with her dad - or she needs to return and work for him. We also have Kai, a worrier, who is the carrier of his family. He deals with their burdens as if they are his own. When these two come together, we get a delightful rom-com you won’t be able to put down.

Crofton is an excellent writer as well. I enjoyed her plot and her dialogue was perfectly written. The Characters are well represented too, and you find them being two you root for! As this is a new series, I look forward to what is next and how we see these novels mesh!

Alicia Crofton’s “Exit Through the Jungle” is the definition of a perfect romcom. There were parts that made me both laugh and swoon, hence my inability to put my kindle down.

The story involves the “wrong place wrong time” meeting between Jolie Boulard and Kai Greene in Costa Rica. Their worlds collide when Kai is trying to get his family out of a hot mess. When Jolie catches Kai and his brothers up to no good (ironically to defend their family’s good name), the brothers end up “kidnapping” her. Afraid that things have gotten out of hand, Kai secretly helps Jolie escape, forcing their escape to the jungle.

You can expect some “eeekk”, “eww”, and “awww” during your read. You might even have a hard time choosing which one you’re siding with: the kidnapper or the kidnapped.

Kai comes from a very strong knit family and for that reason I resonated with him a bit. Though I wish the love story between the two had progressed over a longer period of time, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I appreciated the funny banter among Kai and his brothers and his mom, the belly-ache laughter no thanks to Kai’s brother’s idiocy, and the close proximity moments Kai and Jolie shared.

This is a recommended summer read for its humour and cute closed-door low steam romance. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, “Exit Through Tortuga Bay".

Jolie is a broke, out-of-control, nearly has-been it-girl. She has six months to get herself together, or will have to work for her father in order to claim the rest of her inheritance. Her new deal is a vegan trip to Costa Rica to reinvent her "brand". Kai's life is a mess - his father died; his older brother has a van full of cocaine that belongs to someone else; Marco is blackmailing them with a video so he can have their business property. Along the way, the brothers commit a crime or two, "accidentally" kidnap Jolie, she and Kai get lost in the jungle and fall in love. I struggled in the beginning of the book, trying to make sense of what was going on, but things picked up about a quarter of the way in. I also had trouble relating to Jolie; I only began to like her when she dropped her fake walls while lost in the jungle, transforming from a spoiled brat to eventually become quite a woman. Despite his crazy life, I loved Kai from the start. I swooned when he asked her if she needed a hug. This isn't my favorite book from this author, but it was still quite enjoyable, and I'm looking forward to Noah's book.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Jolie Boulard is one of Instagram’s top influencers and appears to have it all, but she’s broke and desperate in real life. She decides a trip to Costa Rica is just what she needs to rebrand her brand, but her plans goes absolutely wrong when she witnesses someone robbing her father's jewelry store.

This was fun quick read that remind me of romancing the stone in more modern day..
I can't say that i liked the main character especially in the beginning, she was absolutely annoying but when she is introduced to the second haracter the things turn to more interesting way. Still separately they are not my favourite, you can't actually identify to any of them.. they are too perfect and absolutely annoying and actually don't make big sense together.
The big bonus to this book is the amazing colorful cover!!

Big thank you to netgalley and the publisher.. and of course to the writer.
