When compromising pictures of me with the pro football quarterback I’m behavior coaching hit the press, we need damage control. I’m probably going to lose my job since his fiancée’s father—the man who hired me—discovered the pictures as I woke to a cloudy memory of the night before. My questions surrounding Jack’s relationship with his future bride grow more pressing by the day…especially when his eyes tackle me with all that heat. As he saves my job and I continue to coach him toward better decisions, I find myself falling for him. Maybe my purpose here is to open his eyes to all his options. But if he leaves his new boss’s daughter, the consequences could mean the end of both our careers.TACKLED is the second book in the VEGAS THE QUARTERBACK series. This series must be read in order.
Lisa Suzanne is an Amazon Top Ten Bestselling author of swoon-worthy superstar heroes, emotional roller coasters, and all the angst. She resides in Arizona with her husband and two kids. When she's not chasing her kids, she can be found working on her latest romance book or watching reruns of Friends.
Things are looking good for Jack and Kate, and she is keeping him out of trouble, sort of. He is spending quality time with his son and as a plus one. We get the details of Michelle’s frequent visits to Los Angeles, and Jack is slowly letting Kate into his inner circle.
The cliff on this one is a doozy, and I expected nothing less. Bring on Timeout!
Thank you to the author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Ahh another major cliffhanger omg! What a torturous one this was! I need the third book ASAP😭
I never thought my heart would hurt this much for Jack but it does. The guy cannot catch a break, I mean he is partly to blame because his decisions suck but still! I have said this before but Lisa has an amazing talent at redeeming characters.
Tackled had so many cute moments!! The cutesy date-like outings, Jack with his son, Kate falling in love… it was all so cute and then heartbreaking.
I just know that Kate is gonna give us so much angst on the next book!! I’m ready! To see what happens to Jack, how what just happened will after Kate’s job and their relationship. I mean-their goodbye🥺
Thank god the third book won’t be far off because the wait will be torture as is.
➳ARC kindly provided by the author, in exchange for an honest review.
Tackled continues where Traded leaves off. Pictures of Jack and Kate have had compromising pictures released and Kate is worried that she is going to lose her job. Something needs to be done because Jack is engaged to the coach's daughter and has a son with her. Kate tells them that nothing happened and that Jack was keeping things in line. She is given a second chance but will the lines get blurred again?
Jack is very particular to who he lets into his inner circle because of being burnt in the past. He and Luke his brother, have a history with two females, Savannah and Michelle, and it is because of the women in his past he is like this. Jack starts to open up to Kate and you can see the walls coming down. He trusts her but will that backfire one day? He tells her secrets that not everyone is privy to. Can he allow her to help? Can he keep from trying to blur the lines?
Kate is falling for him fast and stronger than she thought she would. When she accompanies Jack on a couple of meetings among other things, she sees another side of him. When Jack takes JJ away for a weekend Kate accompanies them and she learns so much about why he is the way he is. Will she get him to see that his up-and-coming marriage is not something he should be going through? When he accompanies Kate to her best friend's wedding and acts as a date, instead of boss/employee, can Kate handle it? When a guy that Kate had a coffee with once cause a scene at the wedding, what will Jack do?
Once again Lisa leaves you with the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers. Will Kate lose her job? Can Jack keep it together? What will happen with Michelle? So many questions. Lisa has me liking Jack more and more with every page that I read. The chemistry between Jack and Kate is sweet and their character development is fantastic. To see the growth in Jack and how he changes throughout this book is wonderful. Kate is just the person that he needs in his life.
These are the next five books in a continuation of the Vegas Series of five short serials. The Quarterback is Jack Dalton, older brother of Luke Dalton, featured in Season 1 of the Vegas Series. Yeah, it's a bit confusing, but you get the point I'm sure. I read these five books all in one day easily.
Once again, five books all but the last one ending on a cliffy. Jack Dalton and Kate Harmon are featured as the main characters this season. Luke and Ellie play a part in this one as well -- just as back-up. I actually enjoyed these five better. Much deeper plotting and more excitement and angst. And a hot quarterback that needed a little comeuppance and Kate handled it just fine. This season is fast-paced with more action on and off the playing field. There's also an ex and a baby boy in the mix that put an extra spin on the game.
Another five satisfying short and quick reads that kept me happy and entertained for several days reading both seasons back to back. Now I'm ready to tackle some crime thrillers that will keep my mind working overtime to solve.
After finishing book one, Traded, I was starting to like Jack and this one made me fall for the man even more. I loved getting to see a different side to him, especially when he was around his baby boy.
Kate and Jack continue to spend more time together, even doing things where they look like a family. It is hard to not fall for that. Jack is opening up more to Kate and Kate is starting to understand more about Jack and his reason for doing things he does.
These two are just so easy to root for, yet there are so many things standing in their way. There is a long road ahead of them and I am sure it will be full of twists and turns as the story continues.
I’m DYING for the third book in this series, because I need to know what is going to happen next after this cliffhanger of an ending.
If you’re looking for a sports romance this is a series to check out!
Jack is a winner and it's prevalent in his performance on the football field, his endorsements, and Investments off the field. However, he seems to be losing in his personal life. He has a right circle after past tough relationships and he's hesitant to trust others. Kate seems to be an exception as he opens up to her about his life struggles.
Kate is extremely conflicted. She is set to be able to live her dreams with the money she will make from this unusual job, but the connection with Jack seems to be more important. She enjoys spending time with him and his son. The unorthodox relationship Jack had with his fiancee is looming over the very real feelings passing between them.
The cliff hangers have been predictable. I would also like to understand the relationship between Jack and his brother because I seemed to be unhealthy competition and this far it isn't clear why.
Omg , AGAIN, a touchdown with book two!! I can’t get enough of Jack and Kate, I’m obsessed with them!! Their banter has me constantly laughing . The feelings they feel for another but fighting , are killing me. You can feel how badly they want to be together , but Jack is six weeks out to being married to someone he can’t stand , for all of the wrong reasons. Every day it’s harder and harder for Kate being his live in assistant, but she can’t lose this job, and she doesn’t want to be away from Jack. And dam*it this cliff hanger !! I need more. I need book three, like now !! A definite ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me !
Ok, I knew it would happen but so soon??? I can't believe I'm already starting to like Jack Dalton!!! The arrogant quarterback is pulling back the mask he wears in public and showing he can be softer, galant, kind and with tons of sharp wit and even alittle humility. What about the sweet daddy love he shows that adorable baby boy of his??? Swoon!!! I'm a total sucker for a hot dad every time.
The more time Kate and Jack spend together as 'man-sitter' and the man himself, the more the attraction on the sidelines deepens. He is beginning to doubt his future, which is carved in granite now, while she is wondering, what if I can dream? Something is wild is brewing, that is certain but what will be the fall out be when it implodes as it surely will?? Hearts might be broken, lives could be changed, all leading to so many more questions.
Gahhhh, I'm in for everything Jack and Kate now, rooting for them all the way. What kind of crazy cliffhanger was I left with?? Only Lisa Suzanne and time will tell. I loved reading an early copy of this 2nd book in the Vegas Aces- Quarterback series!!! Can't wait for more! Tackled isn't a standalone, so, if you want to get in on the fun, please start with book 1, Traded.
I never thought that I would find any good qualities in Jack but with each book this author is surely changing my mind on him. The interaction he has with his little boy is heart melting. The connection between him and Kate has drawn me into this series hook, line and sinker.
Kate is slowly moving into his inner circle but it makes her think things that might be possible. Now she just hopes that Jack sees it before it’s too late. His wedding day is approaching to the little gold digger Michelle. Too bad her dad is Jack’s coach!
With each book I’m feeling more and more invested in Jack and Kate and I cannot wait until the next book to see if they have a chance at happiness.
Jack & Kate’s Forbidden Romance Continues With More Angsty Twists & Turns, Ending In An Emotionally-Charged Cliffhanger! There Is Plenty Of Chemistry As Well As Zany Action That Lightens The Mood As The Tension Builds Between The Pair. There Is An Epic Taco Conversation That Will Have You In Stitches.

This series builds on the Dalton family, this time focusing on the league’s hottest quarterback. FROM TRADED, BOOK ONE:
The series opens on Halloween, before the close of Luke and Ellie’s series. Jack had learned that he will become a father just a month ago, and more recently his father passed away. He has been making a series of bad choices since. He makes another bad choice on Halloween – and this one goes viral.
Kathryn Elizabeth Harmon, twenty-five, has a plan. With the Van Astors moving to Hartford, Connecticut, though, her plan hits a snag. She studied psychology at UNLV before taking a job as a school psychologist. It didn’t take her long to realize that in reality, she was utilized mostly as an extra body to help with guidance counselors and paper pushing. Disillusioned, she took the opportunity to become a live-in nanny for the Van Astor family. She quickly learned the financial advantages of living with her employers, and she saw an opportunity to save up while reevaluating her career. Kennedy was in her charge, and the family expanded when Miles was born. Kate fell in love with Miles instantly, learning she had a love of babies. But it was Mrs. Van Astor that really inspired her. Kate has learned a lot watching Mrs. Van Astor run her own interior design firm for the past two years. Now, Kate is attending classes online on a part-time basis. If she keeps it up, she will have earned a second degree, one in interior design, in just eighteen months. With the savings she is accumulating, she hopes to open her own firm. But with the Van Astors suddenly leaving town, Kate needs a new job – and a place to live – fast. Otherwise she just might end up back in Kansas with her parents and pressured to take over the family diner in her tiny hometown.
Jack Dalton, thirty-three and the star quarterback of the Denver Broncos, has had an eventful year. Blood really is thicker than water as the Dalton family rebuilds following tragedy. After years of mean-spirited competition, Jack and Luke are finally putting the past behind them. As Luke’s happy ending began to take shape, however, Jack’s life seemed to be veering out of control. He finds himself about to become a father after some casual fun with Luke’s manipulative ex-girlfriend, Michelle Bennett. He wants to do the right thing, but he is feeling suffocated. He isn’t quite sure how Luke ever put up with Michelle. The league’s superstar quarterback has long played the field, enjoying his independence and the accolades he’s earned. His talent is unquestionable, but it took years of hard work and dedication to get him where he is today. His ability to command is tangible, both on and off the field. On the field he is decided and precise. Off the field he plays hard, but about five months ago he began to get careless. With the birth of his son in December, Jack’s whole world changed. Everything is about Jack Alexander Dalton Junior now, or JJ. But as he finds himself traded in the off-season to the Vegas Aces of all places – Luke’s team – and beholden to Michelle’s father’s good graces, he realizes that his professional career is now on the line. His personal and professional life begin to blur. He is on the edge, and everything is at risk if he doesn’t please Calvin Bennett.
That is when Kate enters Jack’s life – again and again. Fate seems to have a mind of its own and a sense of humor with these two as they are thrown together under the most uncomfortable of circumstances. Calvin hires Kate to be his future son-in-law’s behavior coach and to keep him out of trouble as he joins the Aces’ roster. Little does Calvin know that the pair has a history together, brief as it may be. While that one night might have been par for the course for Jack, for Kate it was a different story. It was supposed to have been a night to help her get past her boyfriend Blake, a way to regain a little self-esteem. Instead, it shredded it to pieces. She might have grown up an Aces fan, but she is no fan of the arrogant and condescending new quarterback.
Jack is an engaged man in this book, betrothed to the mother of his child. Kate and Michelle couldn’t be more different. Michelle is high-strung and always dressed to be seen. Kate is down-to-earth and unpretentious. The contrast is stark. Jack and Kate have an often contentious relationship here, but as their jobs force them to spend time together, they learn that they might not hate one another after all. This book ends with a huge cliffhanger, keeping the reader in suspense. Jack and Kate’s story continues in book two, Tackled. IN TACKLED, BOOK TWO:
The morning after Shannon’s bachelorette party, Kate awakens to find Jack in her bed. Nothing happened, but that doesn’t make it alright. Jack suspects there might be pictures of them dancing together the night before making the rounds on the internet, which would explain Calvin’s calls. Kate panics over the possibility of losing her job, but Jack remains cool and collected. He confesses that his engagement to Michelle has nothing to do with love. He gives a number of reasons for it, but there still seems to be something missing. He quietly confesses to liking Kate – a lot – right before leaving her room. Kate is suspicious of Jack’s motives, though. He has made no secret about not wanting to have a babysitter follow him around. He had promised to behave himself so that she could drink and enjoy her best friend’s bachelorette party, but instead, they ended up in the tabloids.
In a turn Kate doesn’t expect, Jack actually saves her job with Calvin. Their relationship turns a corner here, as Jack begins to open up and let her in. She spends time with him and JJ when Michelle is off in L.A. She sees more of how Jack’s personal life is handicapped as a result of his fame and success. Meanwhile, Jack appreciates Kate’s ability to step up and take charge when needed, or to take a step back if more appropriate. He notices how easy it is to be around her. But there is still a line that cannot be crossed between the two, and Calvin promised not to be forgiving if another misstep occurs. Both Jack and Kate have a lot to lose.
In another step that shows him lowering his walls, Jack takes Kate to Dalton Developments, his real estate development company. He delegates most duties when playing, but in the off-season Jack is hands-on. He moved the offices to Vegas from southern California a few months ago, allowing him to spend more time near JJ. There is apparently a deal in the desert that needs his attention now. Kate finds herself twiddling her thumbs too much, so when Ellie mentions needing help at PCPR, Kate jumps at the opportunity to sit down for an interview. She figures she has enough time on her hands to take on a flexible part-time job.
With Luke’s encouragement, Jack agrees to accompany Kate to Shannon’s wedding at the end of the week, which proves to be a disastrous idea. This book ends in a huge blowout and an emotionally charged cliffhanger as Jack and Kate’s story is about to take a gigantic turn.
Wow! Jack and Kate try to ignore their insane chemistry, but it isn’t always easy. Their ups and downs gradually bring them closer together. There are some memorable moments in this book – such as Ellie’s fear of sharks. There is an epic taco conversation that will have you in stitches, setting the stage for more taco puns to come. If there was ever any doubt about turning the villainous Jack into the hero of his own story, that changes in this book. Whether it is more Kate’s influence or him finally getting his act together after an emotional fall, Jack has matured into a man that might just be worthy of Kate’s attention – if he weren’t engaged to another woman, that is. He still has a lot to sort out, but there is a lot of promise. It is difficult watching him cow to Michelle and Calvin – certainly, he has other options. He is normally so controlled and in charge, but it is like he is punishing himself by remaining engaged.
Still, Jack finds himself in an impossible position once Calvin brings him to Las Vegas to play. He is owned by his future father-in-law. His career could be sabotaged if he fails to please Calvin or Michelle. He has goals outside of football, but he depends upon his salary. He needs the inheritance his father left him more than ever, and that had certain conditions that must be met. Getting that money will give him back a sense of control in his life. Falling for Kate, however, could ruin all his carefully laid plans. This is a crowded love story. Jack is far from free. And a romance with anyone but Michelle is definitely out of bounds. Jack and Kate’s story is a forbidden romance. It is also a fake relationship romance in more ways than one! Despite what he thinks, Jack isn’t entirely different than Luke in that sense.
When Kate begins work as Jack’s behavior coach, her job is to help him learn to make better choices. However, she increasingly finds herself in a moral dilemma. She isn’t sure who her client really is – Jack or Calvin Bennett. And if she gives Jack her honest advice, she might just find herself out of a job. Interestingly, there are others in the story who would benefit more from her guidance – including tight end Ben Olsen. Ben is a riot. Jack’s old friend has also just transferred to the Aces, and trouble seems to follow him. Might he be in line for his own story in season three? Jack and Ben’s friendship leads to lots of crazy antics. Strip clubs, drunk cornhole, and a houseboat party – along with plenty of betting – really lighten the story. They behave like frat brothers. But Jack is complicated. He is often arrogant and condescending. As a professional, he is charismatic and charming, always under control. But away from the spotlight, he is introspective. This is a side he reserves only for his inner circle, though. He is protective of his privacy. As Kate begins to see the many facets of his personality, her preconceived ideas about who he is and what motivates him to begin to change. But even as her attraction to him returns, she doesn’t forget that he is spoken for.
This story has Jack getting back to business, but it is riddled with light-hearted moments, too. The various references to orange Gatorade, Motley Crue, Sin City Crue (for fans), Kitty, Dunkin’, Kia, fish, tacos, and a viral cat meme keep the story playful. There is a little closure to be found here for the Dalton family, as we get to see Luke and Jack spending time together. Ellie becomes part of the story as well when she suggests hiring Kate to help with her PR company. This second season with the Aces feels a little bit like coming home.
I enjoy the idea that Jack’s story is somewhat familiar. It is a different Dalton story, but the same horrible woman is still in the picture due to a baby. Both brothers felt pressured to please Calvin, the owner, due to a relationship with his daughter, Michelle. The Dalton family is the same, but the dynamics feel entirely different following their loss. They have moved forward. And of course, the brothers are mending their relationship. Luke was more of an introvert, which isn’t really the case with Jack. So in that way things differ. Ellie and Kate both end up having a one-night stand of sorts with their man prior to living and working for/with them. Each obviously must deal with the idea of her man having a child with another woman. Luke turned out not to be the father of Michelle’s baby, so for him and Ellie life returned to normal. Here Jack must forge some kind of relationship with Michelle in order to do what is best for his son, JJ, and also ensure that Calvin doesn’t purposely tank his career. That complicates things for him and Kate right from the start.
Reading about Jack getting sucked into the drama with Michelle, Calvin, and the Aces feels like a seamless transition. Michelle is a pill! I was indeed anxious to see how she would come across in this new series and how Jack and Michelle would work out as a couple. It seemed hopeless. The idea of totally transforming Michelle wouldn’t have been credible. I like what was done here, though. It is much more believable and very realistic – maybe aside from the whole one-night stand turning into a live-in babysitter job part! That part, however, is a lot of fun so it works well.
Jack and Kate’s forbidden romance continues with more angsty twists and turns, ending in an emotionally charged cliffhanger! There is plenty of chemistry as well as zany action that lightens the mood as the tension builds between the pair. Normally very controlled, Jack is a bit unpredictable after a series of poor decisions. He is also engaged to Michelle. Kate knows from the outset that any attachment to him will only end with a broken heart. She cannot afford to let her guard down – she needs to keep her job. She is focused on her goals for now and isn’t interested in causing more damage to her bruised ego. Their story will have a few more crazy surprises along the way. The story is nicely written. The plot is somewhat complex. The characters are carefully crafted and real. It is written in first person from Kate’s POV. I rate this book 4.5 stars.
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Nooo!!! I mean, I knew it was going to happen…but the cliffhanger…aggghhhh!!! Why Lisa, why?? Tackled was the second book in Lisa’s Vegas Aces: The Quarterback Series and must be read in order!
Kate and Jack may have had some photos taken of them that alluded to more than what was going on. Would it be the end of Kate’s job or would Jack manage to save her?
Jack has definitely been growing on me, he just can’t catch a break! I know the next one will end in a cliffhanger that will leave me craving more but I can’t wait to get my hands on it!!
Yes it ends on another cliffhanger style ending but know Lisa won't leave you there long. This one is a tad less dramatic (meh, who am I kidding, it's still pretty dramatic lol), but this entire story gives you some amazing insight into who Jack REALLY is, above and beyond the cocky, arrogant QB. I had some amazing dislike for the man but he is currently worming his way into my heart. Can he really bget out of all the messes he is currently in? And will Kate keep her job after this one?
The saga continues, and I am starting to like Jack more. But I am feeling sorry for Kate. The two are still having their ups and downs, but Jack seems to be sticking up for Kate more. This shows up when Calvin demands her presence in his office after the bachelorette party. I love seeing more of the human side of Jack and finding out more about his relationship with his awful fiancé. I am loving this series and can’t wait to read the next book. I strongly encourage you to read this book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
Oh if I thought the first book was good it had nothing on this one! The sexual tension escalates and the feelings grow deep. The connection is so beyond words between Jack and Katie. I am so invested in this relationship and cannot wait to see what happens next. Does he or doesn’t he? Hopefully I get to find out soon!
Tackled by Lisa Suzanne (Vegas Aces: The Quarterback, Book 2)... 4.5 Maple Leafs "Sounds like your nacho sure you should trust me." Jack has many layers to him that are starting to show themselves but there is much he is still hiding. Kate is slowly finding her rhythm and place within Jack's life but the more time she spends around him the more she is worried about how it will affect her heart. Kate is worried that she is on the verge of losing her job after compromising pictures of Jack and herself emerge only for Jack to save her job. As they start to spend more and more time together, Jack begins slowly opening up to Kate and letting her in on some secrets he has not told anyone else. As things begin to shift in their relationship, another incident puts Kate in a compromising position. WOW!!!! Jack and Kate's connection is undeniable and the tension between them is becoming very thick. I am loving how Jack is becoming more and more the caring and hurting human than the pro-football player as the books go along. Kate is doing a wonderful and stressful job of helping Jack all well trying to ignore her feelings for him. Another cliffhanger that has me begging for the next book. *All books must be read in order* Genre/Trope... Sports (football), Workplace POV... First-Person, Single, Kate

Oh Jack. I absolutely despised you in Luke's story but now I'm getting to know the real you and you're... pretty fantastic. I might even love you more than I loved Luke and that's saying something!
In this book we start to see the real Jack as he opens up more and more to Kate. The story picks up exactly where Traded left off, with Kate in a bit of hot water with her (and Jack's) boss. Things got a little out of hand at the bachelorette party, and while Jack was the ultimate gentleman, the article in the press doesn't paint the same story. She did the exact opposite of what she was hired to do. Jack helps talk Calvin off the ledge and Kate lives to see another day as Jack's babysitter.
The two grow closer over tacos, dinner with Luke and Ellie, and a spontaneous trip to San Diego. Kate learns more and more about Jack, his life and his predicament with his fiancee Michelle. Michelle and Savannah continue to be the gold-digging, fame-hungry leeches out to get the Daltons.
The more Kate sees and learn about the real Jack, the more out of control her feelings get. Then, Jack steps in and offers to accompany Kate as a date to her best friend's wedding (with a little push from Ellie). Next thing you know, he's accepting the role of doing a reading in the wedding. Then they're at the rehearsal dinner, and, well... things take a turn for the worse. Kate fails to do what she was hired to do again, and Lisa leaves us with one heck of a cliffhanger... her specialty!
I can't wait to get my hands on book three to see what happens next. I also can't wait to see how Kate gets Jack out of marrying Michelle, because she has to, right?
Make sure you read Traded first, and then jump right into this one! As always, YMMV.
Tackled is the second installment of Lisa Suzanne’s fantastic new romance series, Vegas Aces: The Quarterback. Like the first book, Traded, the story is told from the perspective of Kathryn (Kate) Harmon.
The story resumes where Traded left off. Kate wakes to her cellphone going berserk with calls and messages from Calvin, her boss, who hired her to keep Jack away from negative publicity. Then she realizes that she is in bed with Jack — the result of her drinking way too much at her friend’s bachelorette party — and she also becomes aware that she may lose her job when compromising pictures of Jack and her at the party are published. Thankfully, Kate is given another chance and as she and Jack slowly begin to trust each other, he opens up and reveals the real Jack, a very different man from his pubic persona as he proves to be a good man and loving father. And the more they are together the more their attraction grows and so does the heat between them. But then an incident may lead to serious consequences for both of them.
This book is a great read! It includes more insights into both Jack and Kate, laugh-out-loud humor, and more on their developing relationship. But Jack is caught between a rock and hard place and it seems there is no way out from his upcoming marriage to Michelle. Looking forward to the next book, TIMEOUT!
Tackled is the second book in Lisa Suzanne's addictive Vegas Aces: The Quarterback series and is the continuing story of Jack and Kate. Tackled picks up where Traded finished and Jack and Kate are in this weird state of living, where they spend everyday together, trying to ignore the attraction between them and still manage to keep their distance without inevitably falling even deeper. Kate is determined to keep things professional between them, even though she falls for him a little more each day. But no matter how she feels there is one big reason stopping her from taking things further. He's engaged. "It's not like the quarterback is going to ditch his fiancée who's also his boss's daughter to go for his babysitter." But what happens when Kate realises that Jack doesn't love his fiancé and it's a marriage of convenience of sorts that both parties get what they want. Is this the game changer that Kate so desperately wants or will this just make everything even more complicated? Read Tackled now to find out! I loved, loved, loved Tackled, it gripped me from the very beginning and I couldn't put it down until I read it all! I cannot wait for the next book especially after that cliff-hanger! This is the perfect example of what Lisa Suzanne does best and why she is one of my favourite authors. I received an arc of Tackled and I am voluntarily leaving my review.
Lisa Suzanne's new book is Book Tackled is Book 2 in the Vegas Aces: The Quarterback series. It is an excellent follow-up to book one even though I am not usually a fan of serialized books. I would prefer just sitting down and reading the whole story at one time. Waiting to continue the story is more than frustrating.
This follows the continuing story of Jack the big football star and Kate, his boss appointed "babysitter". It becomes more and more clear that that Jack is marrying the wrong woman and for all the wrong reasons. Jack is becoming more comfortable with Kate, finding she is not like all the other women he has met. Kate just wants him to be happy.
Kate sees Jack more relaxed and happy. He even laughs more than ever before. They are getting much closer and share more than just a love of Tacos and more taco puns than I've ever heard. Their banter is easy and refreshing. Jack admits "I like you Katie Cat.....a lot" and it's clear he's starting to care.
Kate's lack of self control at her friend's Bachelorette Party results in another picture getting in the paper getting them both in trouble with their boss. The wedding reception is Jack's turn to get them in even more trouble leaving you desperate for book 3 to see what comes next.
Kate has found herself in an impossible position, she is falling for the man she shouldn't be. It could cost her everything and land her in hot water with her boss. But with every outing or moment shared at home Jack and Kate continue to grow closer, and it's becoming more evident that there is something special there.
But Jack has obligations, deals that he made for his career, and getting involved with Kate could completely destroy that, and cost him dearly. Not to mention completely ruin the new public image she has helped create for him. Just when they start to get comfortable though things take an unexpected turn!
Never have I ever hurt for a couple so much, all they want is to be with one another, but there is so much standing in their way to make that happen. There is no way they can have what they want without losing so much more in return, it maybe be better for Kate to walk away, and let him have the life he feels obligated to agree to. This one started off so happy and light-hearted, but just as I started to think this is the beginning of their happily ever after, the rug gets pulled from under me and I am left heartbroken for them. I am dying to see if these two get the forever they deserve! Highly recommend!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Tackled by Lisa Suzanne is book 2 in the VAQB Series. You must have read book 1 Traded before reading this one. It starts right where book 1 ended. Jack shows a side of himself that makes me fall for him hard. He’s not the same evil acehole he was in his brothers series. He’s calm, cool and collected most of the time. He loves his son and wants to be there for him as much as possible. The more time Katie spends with him the more she falls for him…just as I am. Jack is everything I didn’t expect him to be. But he is also everything I knew he was as well. His a complex individual who loves hard and trusts very little. He proves that he wasn’t just being an ace to Ellie because he was jealous but because he was honestly looking out for him. If you haven’t read Luke’s story…you really need to before diving into Jack’s. This read has laugh out loud moments but also moments where you swoon at Jack’s personality then you are angry at Michelle for something stupid she’s done. Is is still a real piece of work. She is the real villain in both series as far as I can tell. I’m ready to dive into book 3 because that cliffy is something else. See you guy on the flip side. I hope you enjoy these characters as much as I have. I received a free advanced copy to read and review.
Tackled (Vegas Aces: The Quarterback #2) by Lisa Suzanne is part two of a contemporary sports romance serial and ends with a cliffhanger. It’s told entirely from the first person perspective of the female main character, Kate Harmon.
The story picks up where the previous one ended with Kate waking up after her friend’s bachelorette party: her phone keeps ringing, she has tons of missed calls from her boss, and Jack is in bed with her. Her job is to keep Jack out of headlines and handcuffs, but compromising pictures of them together from the party have surfaced. Kate needs to do damage control before she loses her job.
She continues to struggle with her attraction to Jack as they spend time together and get closer. The more she gets to know him, the more she sees that his public persona is very different from the real Jack, and she begins to understand why he feels like he has no choice about marrying Michelle. Savannah is still around, too. She and Michelle are causing as much trouble as they did in the previous series. When Jack does Kate the favor of accompanying her to a wedding, a situation escalates, and once again, she’s failed at her job to keep him out of trouble. Is Kate about to be fired?
I really enjoyed the second installment of Kate and Jack’s story. This book reveals more layers to Jack’s character as his relationship with Kate continues to develop. I really enjoyed the scenes with his family and son, JJ, that showed his sweeter side. Kate becomes more conflicted about her job and her feelings for Jack. She wants to do what’s best for him, but what’s best may the opposite of what her boss hired her to do. As expected in a serial, some questions were resolved and others remain unanswered. This installment has humor, depth, and focuses on character development. There aren’t any sexy times, but there’s still heat simmering beneath the surface. And the cliffhanger at the end? Fantastic! It had the perfect amount of jaw dropping drama to leave me clamoring for the next book. I can’t wait to find out what happens next.
"It’s hard to give this book the justice it deserves for fear of giving away the storyline. What I will say is that Kate & Jack are growing closer. They have a mutual respect for one another and you can tell feelings are now involved for the pair. They have so many obstacles in their way and my mind is fast forwarding trying to work out how it will all play out. But at this stage it’s still a guessing game and I am happy to go along for the ride. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book." ~Sharon
"The relationship between Jack and Kate takes a turn towards friendship with a lot of smoldering heat. Jack of course is hot and cold with Kate but the has let her into his inner circle. The problem is that if they get too close, both of them are going to get burned. Jack feels like he is in a corner but he puts himself on the line in order to protect Kate. This story ends on a cliffhanger that has me wanting the next installment right now. Another good series to get lost in.
""I won't get to hang out with the hot quarterback who at once makes my blood boil and turns me on like nobody else ever has in my life."" ~ Kate" ~Cindy
This is book 2 of 5 in this series and will end in a cliffhanger. Book 1, Traded, should be read first in order to understand what is going on.
This book picks up at the cliffhanger from the last book and what a wild ride we are going on. I am still on the fence about Jack but I do love the angst factor this book has. In this book we do learn a bit more about Jack's life and what is going on with Michelle. Honestly, I am sick of Michelle. I was sick of her in Luke/Ellie's book and I am sick of her now but of course Jack has his reasons or as Kate suspects there may be more to it than even she knows. This author has a special knack for redeeming her characters and I know as I keep reading this series, I am going to go from this ambivalence about Jack to totally swooning over him. It's happened in so many of her books that I have read that I know at some point I am going to forget I ever had an issue with Jack at all. It's magic.
I am looking forward to continuing this series and I got an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. I love this author's rock star romances but her sports reads are pretty fantastic too.
I'm going to preface this review by saying it is part 2 of 5 in a series releasing frequently and it does end on a cliffhanger so if you hate those, wait until all 5 books are out! After reading this book, I also highly recommend reading the first series in the Vegas Aces with Luke and Ellie so you can see why the headline of my review makes sense.
Tackled starts where Traded left us hanging with Jack and Kate reeling from a night out and the consequences it may have for them. Kate is his "keeper" of course and supposed to be keeping Jack in line. She is worried about losing her job as she needs it to start her interior design business.
Tackled delves deeper into Jack's back story, including career aspirations and the reason for his marriage all while he and Kate get closer. Characters from the previous series, like Savannah, are still lurking and causing trouble. This book ends after Jack attends a wedding with Kate and as I said before, cliffhanger, so we're all on the edge of our seats waiting to see what will happen next!
