16 short stories of the magical mystery type. I really enjoyed this anthology especially as we head into Halloween season. Each story is long enough to provide a complete arc for the mystery and a good introduction to the main characters. Many of the authors are names you will recognize. I gave most of the stories 4 stars or 5 stars with only two getting 3 stars which is still likeable. If you enjoy this genre and like variety, this is a great book to pick up. It also provided me with an introduction to some authors and series I haven't read before.

I had been hearing good things about Moons, Magic, and Mystery, a collection of paranormal cozy short stories/novellas, and was pleased to be able to find it on Kindle Unlimited. This book includes several humorous mystery short stories that include werewolves, witches, vampires, ghosts, and other supernatural beings as the main characters.

My two favorite stories in the collection are by authors I was already familiar with. I really enjoyed Erin Johnson's story about a new witch solving a murder while trying to find her place in life, which is a prequel to her Magical Tea Room Mysteries. I also loved Trixie Silvertale's story about psychic sleuth Mitzy Moon investigating the case of a powerful witch who has been missing for five years.

Other authors represented in this collection include Kirsten Weiss, Sam Cheever, Nova Nelson, Summer Prescott, and several others. I was happy to get the chance to meet several new authors and their characters.

Review for two in the collection so far: Erin Johnson/Once in a Brew Moon and Jane Hinchey/All in Vein. I already follow these authors, so I read their stories first of course- but I do recognize other names in the anthology and will definitely be reading the rest of the collection.

Erin's story revolves around new witch Minnie trying navigate coven politics and find her "people" alongside her BFF Gus - entertaining reading, as her stories always are. If Erin is a new author to to you, check out her Spells and Caramels series also (one of my all-time favs).

Jane's story appears to be an introduction to a new series she has mentioned she will be releasing soon - and I am eagerly awaiting that release as it looks to be another fun series coming our way! The banter between characters and the vampire slant (including the adorable kitten Fang) looks to be a series not to be missed for some enjoyable reading! She also has several series that I follow on a regular basis, so she is also an author that I would highly recommending that you check out for her other great series - the Witch Way Paranormal stories and also one of my all-time favs, the Ghost Detective books.

Note: I did receive an ARC of this collection - however, my review is voluntary and something I am happy to share because everyone needs a good read!

There are a few authors in this anthology that I don’t follow, so those stories will not be included in this review. Nor will they affect the rating given.

Book 1) Lost Cases and Hallowed Places – Trixie Silvertale

Did not read

Book 2) Crystals, Cauldrons and Crime – Shea Macleod

Did not read

Book 3) All in Vein – Jane Hinchey

Jane Hinchey is a new author for me.

I found the characters to be sickeningly sweet as they referred to each other in terms of endearment that teenagers would be using rather than a couple who have been married for just under 150 years.

While I’ve found a few authors who can write about vampires in their stories that I enjoy, this was not one of them, and I instantly regretted having made my breakfast when they started talking about “Blood” coffee and the need to still drink blood from the vein of someone on a monthly basis instead of a daily one.

Book 4) Lunar Croakies – Sam Cheever

This is one of the series and authors that I follow on a regular basis.

When Grym arrives with news that one of Naida’s friends has been killed, and her new dog from the demon realm is implicated as she has been acting weird and also has some of Rhonda’s blood on her muzzle.

They discover that she, along with other magical creatures in the town are being affected by a curse placed on the moon.

This story is every bit as fun as the stories in the series, Sam Cheever has an “Unusual” sense of humor that comes out in her books. I get it and very much enjoy it.

Book 5) The Sigil Detective – Kirsten Weiss

Did not read

Book 6) Murder in the Moonlight – J.A. Whiting

I have followed Ms. Whiting’s Sweet Cove Mysteries, so, even though this book in not part of that series. I’m sure I will enjoy it.

Jennifer, Peggy, and Nadine are three friend who help each other when the all became suddenly single either through death of a spouse, or divorce.

Their bonding and trauma also seem to have developed paranormal abilities.

So now they are three magical beings who band together to help solve current and cold cases on their own.

While helping set up for the Halloween festival, the coordinator is found dead in the parking lot.

The ladies have three viable suspects, and now just need to figure out which one is a murderer.

Book 7) JInx Are On Me – Rebecca Regnier

Marzie Nowak is the reporter for a local news website who covers the town she lives in along with other nearby communities.

When she innocently breaks a charm that allows a pee-wee team to dominate all other teams they play, uncovers a local politicians attempt to cover up a DUI accident, and discovers a jealous girl friend, she winds up having a very bad couple of days. Someone has cursed her, and she only has a few days to break it before it becomes permanent.

This was a fun story with developed characters, a few twists, and a cast of characters that seem to care for each other.

This was my first book by Ms. Regnier and it won’t be my last.

Book 8) Once in a Brew Moon – Erin Johnson

Minnie has recently discovered that she is a witch, and Gus, who is a vampire is trying to help her find a coven she is compatible with.

They join a coven’s party on Halloween night at one of Gus’ friends homes. The leader suddenly dies and all fingers point to the newcomers.

While Minnie and Gus seek out the true killer, they discover some of the secrets a few of the member’s have been keeping.

This one actually left me a little confused as some of the concepts were completely different from whitch/vampire relations that I've gotten used to.

Solid characters, and a good plot line.

I’ve read a couple of Ms. Johnsons works in the past normally find them enjoyable.

Book 9) Luna the Magicless Fluff – Molly Fitz

Another new author for me.

This one is just too weird for me to figure out.

A witch gives up her powers to save her cat, she turns into a cat herself and she and the cat she saved now is a powerful magical being while the former witch now cat can remember everything magical, has no powers herself, and is now having a litter with the cat she saved.

Book 10) Drac’s Back – Summer Prescott

What a fun and sweet story.

I have a couple of Summer’s books in my TBR pile that will definitely be making their way into my reading schedule.

Drac, is apparently on the run from the law in another town/state.

He shows up at his cousin's home to hide out.

When he goes to the store for a lite lunch (a stack of steaks) he encounters a sales clerk who has him thinking of a future with someone for the first time.

With a sheriff suspicious of all newcomers, Drac is taken to the jail a couple of times because the sheriff is determined he is responsible for a couple of grisly murders that happened in town just as he arrived.

Book 11) Maggie’s Missing Moonstone – Morgan Vale

This was my first story from Ms. Vale.

It was a nice story with a couple of life lessons if you look for them.

Maggie Mason doesn’t see herself as having accomplished much in life.

She’s a clutz, and tends to lose things.

When she gets a letter notifying her that she has been chosen to host the annual Lunar Festival, she can’t believe it.

Then she panics when her moonstone has disappeared.

The moonstone is one of the most important parts of the festival, and if she can’t find it, the festival and all the blessing for the next year could be missed entirely.

Book 12) Totally in Moon – Wendy Meadows

Did not read

Book 13) The Case of the Magic Moon – Nikki Haverstock

This is part of Nikki’s Casino Witch series and is one of my all-time favorite series.

Ella and Vanessa are going to spend the weekend with friends that Vanessa knew when she was in school, but they're really more of acquaintances than they are friends. One of the girls getting married and the girls are talking about her fiancé not being faithful. After an argument during dinner, everyone goes their own way, when the power goes out Ella and Vanessa find some candles and start looking for everybody else. They come across Vixens body in the tub. And Ella is not positive that it was an accidental drowning.

Another great story in this series, which has Define character, a little bit of humor, and a solid plot line.

Book 14) Doom and Moon – Nova Nelson

Book 15) A Moon for Manifesting – Amorette Anderson

Moons, Magic, and Mystery is a great anthology of paranormal cozy mystery shorts that I really enjoyed. I am reviewing the stories that I have read.

Lost Cases and Hallowed Places by Trixie Silvertale I absolutely love the Mitzy Moon series and this this was a great short story set on an island and was a really fun mystery.

Once in a Brew Moon by Erin Johnson is the prequel to the Magical Tea Room Mysteries.
This was a great story set on Halloween where Minnie is trying to find a coven to belong to. There is a awesome mystery here and I loved reading more about Minnie and Gus's relationship.

Drac's Back by Summer Prescott is a fun vampire story! Bad vamp gone good or has he? Drac has a bad reputation but he is back in town and has mended his ways. A body shows up and all eyes point to him, so he has to investigate to save himself and his future. This was such a fun short story I really love Drac! Great mystery too! Another wonderful story by Summer Prescott.

Maggie's Missing Moonstone by Morgan Vale is is a fun mystery set during the Lunar Festival. Maggie is excited to be chosen to be the host but the moonstone goes missing1 I really loved this story so much! I love Maggie's grandma . This was a great mystery that I couldn't put down.

Luna the Magickless Fluff by Molly Fitz was a great story. I love the Merlin the Magical Fluff Series by Molly Fitz and this story is set in that world, but also a stand alone story. I love Gracie, who is a human familiar to Merlin. Merlin is marrying the love of his life, Luna. This story was everything I wanted. I LOVED it so much. Cat wedding with a human familiar? Yes PLEASE! There is some trouble that happens and a mystery to solve one that really surprised me. I love this story and definitely recommend the series as well.

All in Vein by Jane Hinchey was a fantastic story. Jane Hinchey is a NEW author to me and I know right now I will be looking at all of her books to read. This story was about two married vampires who run Clean Scene, a crime scene cleaning company. The characters were fantastic and along with their kitten vampire, fang I loved this story. I have my fingers crossed this becomes a series!

This is a difficult book to review properly. It consists of 16 short stories. To review each one would make this post never ending. So instead I'll review as a whole.

Of all the stories, there was only one that I really couldn't finish. The story consisted of a cat that was a witch, and a human familiar. I read a lot of strange and out there stories, but that one I could not get behind.

Otherwise, the book was a good fast read. It was full of supernatural and otherworldly tales that all centered around a who-dun-it mystery. While several were supernatural culprits, there were a few that reminded us that sometimes humans are worse than any supernatural we could come across. I did like this book as it gave me a lot of tastes of writing for new authors. Some were short stories of authors that continue on with the same characters in their own series, I actually like this because there were a few that I intend to look into.

All in all, I'll give it a four star. It was rather lengthy, but still read pretty quickly.

4 1/2 stars

What a fantabulous anthology of cozy mystery stories. Each story is different, in characters and how they play out. The writing of all that I’ve read, which is most of them, is very good. I think this book presents a perfect group of stories to read for autumn and Halloween.

The stories are fun. You’ll find all sorts of magical creatures, from witches to brownies, from sprites to vampires, from demons to ogres, from magical cats to imps and ghosts. There’s no want for variety between these pages.

There were a few stories I didn’t enjoy as much, but that’s a personal thing. I wasn’t particularly fond of the stories in which the main character was a ditsy woman who recently discovered that she had magical powers. Those kinds of characters and their stories just get on my nerves. As I said, it’s a personal preference. You may find those stories highly enjoyable.

There’s still a story or two I intend to read in this anthology, but I’ve read most of them. I found the stories by these authors to be highly entertaining: Sam Cheever, Erin Johnson, Jane Hinchey, Molly Fitz, Lily Webb, and Shéa MacLeod. The anthology is definitely worth the asking price.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book. I thank all involved for their generosity, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.

I am doing the review for the short story, A Moon For Manifesting by Amorette Anderson. Grace has moved to Covenstead and finds herself being the town sleuth. It is Halloween and just when she and Lucky, her familiar, are about to go in after a night of trick-or-treating, when someone drives up and asks for help to find his wife. Ms. Anderson's books are fantastic. The characters are full of life, the plot is easy to follow and will enjoy this short story. My favorite characters are Grace and Lucky. I highly recommend getting this book. Thank you

What a great collection!

Oh wow, there were so many great stories in this anthology! I highly recommend it to any paracozy lover! It’s such a great way to find new-to-me-favorite authors, as well as read the stories by already-favorite authors!

I’ll review per story, and also add the description per story:

Lost Cases and Hallowed Places by Trixie Silvertale -
A remote cabin. A hidden chest. Will this psychic sleuth find treasure or tragedy? Mitzy Moon thinks exploring the wooded island will be fun, but a trapped spirit has other plans. If she and her alchemist mentor can't solve the mystery of the missing witch, the consequences will be deadly!
My review: Getting used to living in a tiny town that tech forgot.
Mitzy is googling how to read a map, but yes, Mitzy, you will need that skill when you go to places with bad cell reception! LOL! What a wonderful story! Such great sense of humor. It was so good that I just wanted to read as fast as I could, but at the same time read slowly to savor it! This story falls between books 1 and 2.

Crystals, Cauldrons, and Crime by Shéa MacLeod -
Edwina Gale started every morning for twenty years with a maple bacon donut. Until the day the donut maker disappeared under mysterious circumstances, leaving Edwina sans donut and with mystery on her hands. Supernatural citizens are disappearing during the full moon and it's her job to find out why.
My review: I love this sense of humor!
I loved the tone of this story, LOVED the style! What an exciting story! Edwina is a no-nonsense kind of witch and she means business and she has a strong sense of right and wrong and justice, and I liked her for it.

All in Vein by Jane Hinchey -
She's an ex-assassin. He's ex-military. Together they are Clean Scene Inc, where blood splatter matters, and these vamps, along with their adorable vampire kitty, Fang, are on the case.
My review: Fantastic story! It was so interesting! This is a new-to-me author who I will definitely be following!

Lunar Croakies by Sam Cheever -
Moon Madness has hit Croakies like an out-of-control freight train. My demon dog is howling at the moon. Somebody ate one of my neighbors. And things are falling apart up and down Arcane Avenue. Buckle up lunar lovers. Things are about to get bumpy.
My review: Great fun! Wicked sense of humor ;) Really, it’s So. Much. Fun!

The Sigil Detective by Kirsten Weiss -
Metaphysical detective Riga was never all powerful, but she was once a lot more magical than she is now. Now, she's back to basics... and trapped in a faux-Viking village. But will brains and the basics of magic be enough to bring a murderer to justice?
My review: This was a good story. Well crafted, and I liked it. A sort of practical writing style, no frills and I really appreciate that!

Murder in the Moonlight by J A Whiting -
Peggy, Jennifer, and Nadine are middle-aged women with "special" skills. Nicknamed the "Murder Posse," they're members of their town's murder mystery book club. While working to set up the annual Halloween celebration, something unexpected happens. Will they figure out who the killer is before he or she comes for them?
My review: Enjoyable story. I liked it! I will be reading more by this author!

Jinx Are On Me by Rebecca Regnier -
In Widow's Bay, an empty nest coven of witches keep supernatural forces in balance. But lately, a series of seemingly random, and potentially dangerous accidents are turning Widow's Bay upside down. Midlife witch, and local reporter, Marzie Nowak, teams up with her best witchy friends to try to uncover what's turned their cozy town into chaos.
My review: I really liked this one. Now it’s time for me to read a full-length book by this author, because this story was promising!

Once in a Brew Moon by Erin Johnson -
This is the prequel to the Magical Tea Room Mysteries
It's All Hallows Eve, and the fortune-telling festivities abound at a magical party near charming Bath, England. Only no one predicted that the coven leader would be poisoned! Now, new witch, Minnie, and her vampire bestie, Gus, must catch the killer before Gus's secret gets out.
My review: I love Minnie! And Gus too! I love all Ms Johnson stories and this one was no exception, what great fun! Clever mystery.

Luna the Magickless Fluff by Molly Fitz -
If you've never been to a magical cat wedding, then you are definitely missing out! But with so many supernatural creatures gathered in one small space, there's bound to be a kerfuffle or two. Luckily, Gracie Springs, resident human, wedding planner, and familiar extraordinaire, is on the case.
My review: So easy-to-read, and I caught myself smiling a lot! Loved it!!! Quirky and original!

Drac’s Back by Summer Prescott -
A notorious vampire mends his bloodthirsty ways, settles into a relatively normal life in small-town Iowa, and discovers a delightful gal. But when a body is discovered, suspicious glances are quickly cast his way. Can he solve the crime and get the girl, or will he meet his fiery end?
My review: What a great story! Well done, well crafted and very entertaining!

Maggie's Missing Moonstone by Morgan Vale -
When Maggie is chosen to host the Lunar Festival, she knows she's going to have her hands full. There's just one problem: her ceremonial moonstone goes missing! With the help of her quirky grandma and some good old-fashioned magic, will she be able to earn the Moon's Blessing for another year?
My review: Enjoyable and fun! Some depth added as well, which made it quite layered for a short!

Totally in Moon by Wendy Meadows -
Thea has a gift, but her bubble of tranquility is soon dashed when death comes calling. Thrust into investigating a mysterious death, working with her cat, Pebbles, she learns a date with destiny doesn't always arrive when you're ready.
My review: It was a good story, I enjoyed it.

The Case of the Magic Moon by Nikki Haverstock -
Ella's invited along for a Magic Moon girls' weekend. She doesn't know anyone at the snowed-in mansion, except her sidekick and her black cat familiar, which makes it tricky to be a sleuth when a group spat escalates into unexpected murder.
My review: I love Ms Haverstock’s books! I adore the Casino Witch series! And this one was another awesome story!

Doom and Moon by Nova Nelson -
A night shift at Eastwind's 24-hour diner turns chilling for Nora Ashcroft when her psychic landlady arrives with shocking news: someone is about to be murdered there. To trap the murderer inside, they must lock all the doors... and wait. Who will die, and who is the killer?
My review: Loved being back in Eastwind!!! Wonderful story, with Nelson’s usual sarcasm and fun!

Dead on a Blue Moon by Lily Webb -
The magical residents of Starfall Valley live according to the stars. But when a once-in-a-lifetime Blue Moon illuminates new clues in an unsolved murder, it's up to psychic witch Selena Smith to follow the light. Can her prophetic powers solve the case, or is she reaching for the moon?
My review: Oh wow, this is one of the best stories in this collection IMHO. So good!

A Moon for Manifesting by Amorette Anderson -
In the quirky magical village of Covenstead, manifesting and moons go together like candy and trick-or-treaters. New witch Grace Littleton doesn't know much about lunar magic, but it's high time to learn! A local is missing, and it's up to Grace to follow the celestial clues...
My review: Oh my witch, I so loved this story! I love this series and Ms Anderson was already a favorite author and she delivered yet again!

Moons, Magic and Mystery: A Paranormal Anthology” by 16 amazing authors. Some authors are new to me and others are old friends. What a great read to get ready for Halloween! A terrific collection of varying stories involving Witches, psychics, and supernatural sidekicks..

Lost Cases and Hallowed Places by Trixie Silvertale
A remote cabin. A hidden chest. Will this psychic sleuth find treasure or tragedy? Mitzy Moon thinks exploring the wooded island will be fun, but a trapped spirit has other plans. If she and her alchemist mentor can’t solve the mystery of the missing witch, the consequences will be deadly!

This is only the second book I have read starring Mitzy Moon but I plan on reading more in the series after this.

Dead on a Blue Moon by Lily Webb
The magical residents of Starfall Valley live according to the stars. But when a once-in-a-lifetime Blue Moon illuminates new clues in an unsolved murder, it’s up to psychic witch Selena Smith to follow the light. Can her prophetic powers solve the case, or is she reaching for the moon?

I am a huge fan of this series and love the protagonist Selena! I was super excited to read this short by Lily Webb as it’s been a few months since I visited Starfall Valley. The story was entertaining, full of twists and turns to keep you guessing.

Once in a Brew Moon by Erin Johnson
It’s All Hallows Eve, and the fortune-telling festivities abound at a magical party near charming Bath, England. Only no one predicted that the coven leader would be poisoned! Now, new witch, Minnie Marsh, and her vampire bestie, Gus, must catch the killer before Gus’s secret gets out.

I hadn’t read any of the books previously but I really enjoyed this short story about Minnie Wells the newbie witch set in Bath, England. I’m intrigued by her Vampire BFF, and can’t wait to read "The Magical Tea Room Mysteries" series by Erin Johnson.

Doom and Moon by by Nova Nelson
A night shift at Eastwind’s 24-hour diner turns chilling for Nora Ashcroft when her psychic landlady arrives with shocking news: someone is about to be murdered there. To trap the murderer inside, they must lock all the doors... and wait. Who will die, and who is the killer?

This is the second short story I have read of the Eastwind’s magical mysteries once again I was pleasantly surprised by this story and plan to read the series.

Moons, Magic, and Mystery: An Anthology of Paranormal Cozy Mystery Shorts Read 12/4-14/2021
I do like it when Mitzy and Silas work together to get things done. Plus it is funny when Mitzy runs her imaged movie of Eric movies. A good story.
Crystals, Cauldrons & Crime by She'a MacLeod
OOO! I like this story. This author is new to me. I really liked Edwina. A tough lady. I do believe I will be trying to find more stories about the “Deepwood Witches”. Good story.
All in Vein by Jane Hinchey (A Clean Scene Inc Short)
Nice story. I liked it a lot. Elena has a lot of guts. Going after someone she thinks I a Vampire. All on her own. It's a good thing she had backup even if she did not know about it.
Lunar Croakies by Sam Cheever
I don't have anything from this author. I do like the story and I will be checking into other stories from her. This story has a different outlook from any others I have read or seen. I like the differences in their. Very good story.
The Sigil Detective by Kirsten Weiss
It must be very hard to not have magic after having it all your life. Riga has to be having a very hard time. It is a different kind of story. I liked it very much. She is a good person.
Murder in the Moonlight by J A Whiting
Quite a combo, Nadine, Peggy and Jen. The “New” witches in town. Good, good story. Well done and laid out nicely. I did not figure it out. Did you?
Jinx are on Me by Rebecca Regnier
These little windows into different worlds are awesome. I liked this story also. A world were people try to take their lives and world into a better place. Thinking of the whole instead of just the family or friends. It was very well done.
Once in a Brew Moon by Erin Johnson
Maybe you should never underestimate the little guy. It can come back and haunt you. Crazy and a little scary on this one. Good story though.
Luna the Magickless Fluff by Molly Fitz
Gracie, Merlin and Luna they always surprise me. Sometimes they are funny, mad, nuts but always surprising. Nice story. I hope Gracie never has to deal with the cat who climbed up her again.
Drac's Back by Summer Prescott
Interesting! I can see where Drac finds Polly unlike most. She appears to shine for him. I liked the story.
Maggie's Missing Moonstone by Morgan Vale
Confident can be a game changer. You don't feel afraid all the time. You can walk with your head held high and look people in the eye. All kinds of things are possible as long as you have confident in your self.
Totally in Moon by Wendy Meadows
Very interesting story. A mystery from way back in history. I wounder what she will find and learn. I look forward to seeing that. Good story sad about her friend, but still good.
The Case of the Magic Moon by Nikki Haverstock
A Magic Moon misfire. Sounds strange. The whole story is about the moon and no magic for the weekend because it would backfire or do worse. A good story. Ella and Vanessa conducted investigations in Rambler so she knew what to look for and ask about. A good story.
Doom & Moon by Nova Nelson
A strange night at work. Waiting tables can be hard on your feet on them your whole shift. To solve a murder can be hard on you too. Good story.
Dead on a Blue Moon (A Visions & Victims Short) by Lily Webb
To see part of a vision and not get all the facts has to be a bit madding. Selena got visions, how do you interpret them. A very good story with a lot of crazy thrown in.
A Moon for Manifesting by Amorette Anderson
There are times when you can feel the energy around you. Most people don't think in terms as that though. It's a good story and enjoyable read.

Anthologies are my favorites! I really look forward to the one paranormal cozy mystery authors put out. I have read books by most of the authors in this collection. The few that were new to me, I plan to read more of.
I thought my favorite book would be the contribution by Trixie Silvertale, Lost Cases and Haunted Places. The Mitzy Moon series, which this story is from, is my current favorite series. This story would fit in the early books, maybe after the second one. That is why I was expecting this to be my favorite story. What I found was a lot of stories that I loved and difficulty picking a favorite.
In Crystals, Cauldrons & Crime by Shea MacLeod, I enjoyed the humor that I found there. The confrontation with Fred was hilarious to me. I could picture that. I love that main character, Edwina, is an older women who, like me, loves maple bacon bars. This author makes the scenes come alive with her descriptive words. I first read this author when she was in last years anthology. I liked her then and love her now.
All in Vein by Jane Hinchey starred a vampire couple who have a ... vampire kitty! I was delighted with this. I really enjoyed this story. I had forgotten how fun vampires can be. The ending with Elena was a surprise that left me wanting to read more.
I love the variety of characters in Sam Cheever’s Lunar Croakies. Having different species in a book always makes me perk up. I love seeing how they interact. I love dogs in my stories and Vel, a demon dog, hit my feels. I also love the fun exclamations that I find in this series. It was interesting to have a story directed at moon ruled species.
The next story was set in a Viking village! In The Sigil Detective, by Kirsten Weiss, an app that designs sigilos for spell casting is missing and an engineer was found murdered. This was an interesting story for me as my stepchild works on apps, (I also know a couple of others who do), and I have seen some of what goes into it. I also happen to enjoy history and anything Viking catches my eye. I liked the mix between the Viking village of old and the technology of today. I was also captivated by Riga and her missing powers.
Erin Johnson, Once in a Brew Moon was fabulous. Yet another fun story that had a vampire in it. All these vampires are leaving me with a taste for more. The setting of a fairground brought to mind, her new Renaissance Fair series, (you want to check that awesome series out too as it has stories from some of the authors contributing to this anthology). I loved seeing witches in a coven alongside a solitary witch looking for a coven. It was fun seeing soul cake being played by the coven. Years ago I played that, (it was called fortune cake when I played and I don’t recall all the fortunes but I do remember the fun of it), making it amazing to see it in a story.
Nova Nelson’s contribution, Doom & Moon, is from her Eastwind Witches series. I just became interested in it after reading Nova Nelson’s Renaissance Fair book. Eastwind is another magical town series that has many types of paranormal beings in it. Nora is a psychic witch. I also enjoyed meeting the Grim Reaper. I will be reading more Eastwind books. In this story, another witch informs Nora of her vision that a death will occur in Medium Rare. I have to say I’m not certain how I would feel being locked in with a possible murderer. I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be as entertaining as this story.
I did read and enjoy all the stories included in this book. To mention each one would make this review incredibly longer. The stories are as varied as the authors but each were fun to read. I would recommend it to all paranormal cozy mystery readers. What a great way to get into the Halloween spirit!

This is a great little collection of cozy mysteries by some authors I have read some I just found some are parts of series by the authors and others just happened in there world but were different time spans. So here are the books I have read in this book of short Cozy mysteries.

Jane Hinchey
All in Vein A clean scene Inc.
This is a first time author for me and if this book has a series I would definitely read it. So basically this book is about a century's old vampire couple that just happen to run a crime scene clean-up business theve pretty much had some adventures in the military and Mak was and assassin so you mite thing there taking things easy staying of the radar keeping there secret but maybe not it could be the intrepid reporter Elena Gray there adorable little vampire kitty or maybe it's because they can't stop solving crimes that bring bad paranormal's to there own bitter end and there latest case is full on evil.

Kirsten Weiss
The Sigil Detective
This is also a new author to me and is about Riga a Metaphysical Detective who has lost some of her otherworldly gifts but has found away to still use her remaining talent her current case has taken her to the Odinjord Institute were a programmer Jeff has lost his latest project and why is this important well some how it's developed power and a person has already lost there life why would anyone want a program that uses ancient rune's to create well lots of things maybe even bring back the dead thats not so bad write. This book has mystery, murder, and all the gorey parts get glossed over so know gory details this book proved one thing some people just can't let go.

Rebecca Regnier
Jinx are on Me
Love this series of a women who comes into her powers after her ex ruins her life so it's divorce menopause hot flashes second chances at romance and friends not to mention the hunks the very paranormal hunks. But this time while doing a favor for a friend she has incured the wrath of someone why would anyone put a jinx on Marzie a very ugly curse at that well Marzie and her coven sisters will have to figure that out before her curse sticks or she's permanently wiped out but don't worry Marzie maybe good at finding trouble but she always figures it all out in the end.

Summer Prescott
Drac's Back
This is also a new author for me it's kinda dangerous but sweet at the same time because the ultimate villain Drac is cordial kind and really trying to give up his bad past behavior no necks please hes on a high iron diet with a side of very rare stake. Drac is visiting his cousin in Iowa of all places when he falls for a very human cashier at the local grocery but she already has a pest of suites that she can't get rid of and the minute Drac gets to town dead bodies pop up and the sheriff just knows poor Drac is responsible. Can Drac get the girl and help the rather opionated sheriff find the real killer or will Polly be the next victim.

Nova Nelson
Doom & Moon
Welcome back Nora Ashcroft the 5th wind whitch of Eastwind that talks to Ghost and solves crime. Nora has had a very long shift at Medium Rare and it's about to be over but her friend Ted the Reaper is blue and lonely and her mentor Ruby has just rushed in with urgent news someone is going to die at the dinner before Nora's shift is over who and why well thats what Nora has too find out so lock the doors and wait also ask lots of questions and don't forget the bacon.

I read four stories in total so far, including one by a new to me author!

Lost Cases and Hallowed Places by Trixie Silvertale – Mitzy Moon Mysteries

A very sweet, witchy short involving getting to the bottom of who murdered and buried the leader of a Pin Cherry coven. We don’t have the one space to spin a full out web of clues and red herrings but we do see a couple of suspects fall into place. Mitzy uses her psychic senses to get to the bottom of the mystery and Silas helps her being the whole thing to an end, with a tiny twist!

Despite the brevity of the tale, series readers still can snatch quick cameos by series regulars!

Crystals, Cauldrons and Crime by Sheá MacLeod – Deepwood Witches Mysteries

This one was brand new to me! I’m glad I stumbled upon in. Edwina is a witch in her 60s who lives in a town where magical and non-magical folks co-exist. Edwina’s beau is the non-magical police chief who knows about her ‘secret’ world. The mystery of how and why doughnut shopkeeper, Virgil, disappeared. We investigate a couple of suspects and the. Edwina uses her ‘extra’ skills to track the true culprit. Everything comes to a grand and dramatic finale, with a rather surprising culprit! I think I’ll be checking out more about this series.

Once in a Brew Moon by Erin Johnson – The Magical Tea Room Mysteries

This one takes us into Minnie’s past, before she married Desmond, got divorced and met Fitz. It’s just Minnie and Gus to face off against a coven of witches when one of them flips the bucket. Despite the limited page space, we do have an opportunity to meet several suspects. They each have a strong motive and means and opportunity to commit the crime. I quite enjoyed reading Minnie and Gus circle through the coven, gathering their clues before making their findings known. After enjoying this tale, it’s plain to see why Minnie never went looking to join a coven again!

Moon and Doom by Nova Nelson – Eastwind Witches

What a great reminder to catch up on this series!! It was lovely to revisit Eastward and all the crazy characters who live there. Although this is a short story, Nova managed to pack in, at least, a mention of all the main secondary characters. The mystery is delightful. It makes use of the ‘locked in’ trope where the murder happens and all the culprits are kept in the room as the case is solved. I love how Nora navigates from suspect to suspect building her case. It is intriguing as the motives aren’t quite clear to begin with, and most suspects seem to have the means and opportunity. The final reveal has a bit of a twist and is a most delicious end to the tale.

Lost Cases & Hallowed Places, Trixie Silvertale

For those of you have grown to love the Mitzy Moon series you’ll remember a time when she was new to Pin Cherry Harbor. She was still on the bad side of sheriff “too-hot-to handle” Erick Harper. A coven leader has been for years. Everyone knows her but o e say she just disappeared. During a good cleaning of her bookstore, she & Pye go to stay @ Twiggie’s cabin. Once there Mitzy is in for the second shock of her life, another ghost she can communicate with. Besides her “Ghost ma”. With Silas's help they solve a decades long mystery & see that the responsible party is held accountable. Read the 15 book series. You too will gain an extended family.

Moons & Doom, Nova Nelson

Nora Ashcroft lost her life in an automobile accident & found herself in a diner with a big, furry, slobbery familiar named Grim. The two have been through many mysteries. Today she is having coffee with the town’s grim reaper, Ted. He visits the diner every morning for his coffee. Her Landlady/Mentor, Ruby runs into the diner with a vision of murder. Someone in the diner will be killed & the person responsible is in the diner. Nora locks the door so no one can leave & starts questioning the customers until the murderer is found. It’s gonna be a long night. Eastwind witches is a fun & exciting series that brings a broke barista from Arizona with no family, to “almost Canada” where she meets the family she never knew.

A moon for Manifesting, Amorette Anderson

Grace Littleton has just moved to Covenstead, Vermont. She’s the towns nurse & resident sleuth. It was Halloween & a woman has gone missing. Grace sets aside her chocolate & plans to light her Jack’o Lantern then sets off to see if she can find the woman. She follows the clues & she, along either her PitBull & sidekick, Lucky, are lead to a house where all their questions are answered. Happy Halloween! The is a great series. Grace & Lucky are a fun duo & Grace’s Midlife Medicine is a great series.

A Paranormal Cozy Anthology . . .

We have 16 magical mysteries offered in this collection of paranormal cozy mystery short stories from your favorite authors.

For example, in Trixie Silvertale’s story of “LOST CASES AND HALLOWED PLACES”, the story opens with Mitzy Moon opening her eyes to see a wild beast almost nose to nose with her. She struggles with the covers and falls out of bed onto the floor. Then she sees the ghost of her grandmother and knows the beast is Pyewacket, her cat. She sort of remembers she is at Pin Cherry Harbor and Grams left this place to her. Then Twiggy, her grandmother’s oldest friend, walks in and tells her she needs to head to a cabin out on Island Lake with the cat, because if she left Pyewacket here, she was inviting lawsuits during this annual top-to-bottom event, as he was known to do some damage to the workers he didn’t like.

With no sense of direction and no map-reading skills, she and Pyewacket finally make it to the remote cabin. Mitzy Moon thinks exploring the wooded island will be fun, but a trapped spirit has other plans. If she can’t find out what happened to the missing High Priestess for her Gram's coven, there could be deadly consequences! Twists and turns will keep the reader guessing all the way!

The other titles included in the Anthology are:

1. LOST CASES AND HALLOWED PLACES by Trixie Silvertale
2. ALL IN VEIN by Jane Hinchey
3. A MOON FOR MANIFESTING by Amorette Anderson
4. DOOM AND MOON by Nova Nelson

I don't usually read anthologies, but I am a convert with this one! Since I am familiar and read and review for a few of the authors, I will review them first. But it would take a book to be able to review them all. But I will say that each and every story in this anthology had the right amount of mystery to keep you turning pages and not putting the story down until you come to the end. And then you like them so much you want more. I have found a few new authors to read through this anthology as well.
Every story in this anthology was fun to read! All in Vein by Jane Hinchey, for example, has me very excited since it is like a prequel to a new promising series. We meet an old vampire married couple, Mak and Hal and their unbelievable kitten Fang. You will laugh throughout this story while you turn page after page to get to the fantastic end! Moon and Doom by Nova Nelson was fun getting to revisit
Eastwind with a wonderful mystery and it reminded me of those locked room mysteries you can go to. It seems the murderer and the victim get locked in and with so many twists and turns that you are carried to the end with a surprise!
Loved Murder in the Moonlight by J.A. Whiting. As a new author to me, I paid attention to all the details, the characterizations and how smooth the story glided. I loved the fact that we have middle aged women who have special gifts are key members in the town mystery book club and band together to solve the murder! They can really make me laugh! I could go on and on with a review of each short story since there wasn't one I didn't like! I will now have more authors to read. Thank you for this wonderful anthology which introduced me to some really good authors. I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

This was a decent mix of stories. I haven't read all of them yet (just the first seven so far) and I will update my review when I finish reading them. I will list the books I have read so far and my review will be about those as a whole, as I don't want to knock any particular author. I have read:

* Lost Cases & Hallowed Places by Trixie Silvertale
* Crystals, Cauldrons & Crime by Shea MacLeod
* All In Vein by Jane Hinchey
* Lunar Croakies Sam Cheever
* The Sigil Detective by Kirsten Weiss
* Murder In The Moonlight by JA Whiting
* Jinx Are On Me by Rebecca Regnier

This overall was a decent variety of stories. There were a couple I definitely wanted to read more of in their series. One especially didn't read like a short story, you would think it was a regular, fast paced novel. Several felt rushed. I'm not a fan of when there is no challenge to figure out who the bad guy is and to catch them. The motives were usually interesting, which is a good thing. At least one of the culprits needed more development (or at least a longer story) to make it believable that they were the culprit. I found that it was hard to feel connected with several of the main characters because the stories were so short, even if the ideas were good. I understand that they're meant to be shorter, but readers should be able to feel invested in the character either way. The powers all the main characters had were a mixture of different things. There were several witches for main characters, but it was made way more interesting because they had different types and levels of power. It wasn't the same powers for each story. That was cool. Overall the anthology (so far) was a good mixture of stories, with some that I will definitely have to check out their series in the future. I am voluntarily reviewing this collection, gifted to me by the author with no obligation.
