Chart topping U.S. rock band, Default Distraction, have everything money can buy...

Luke
I was born to nothing.
Fought my way to the top.
Where I almost lost the lot, including myself.

Now, I’m not just fighting for me.
My daughter deserves the family I promised.

So, here we are.
Starting over in a new country.
A new home.
With a new nanny who’s perfect for her.

The only trouble is … she’s perfect for me, too.

History has shown me that I can’t do relationships.
But my body is refusing to listen to my head.

Nikki
I was born to a close knit family.
Then it was torn apart.
I stepped up and into the void my father’s departure created.
But somehow, I lost myself in the process.

Now, I’m jobless and desperate to provide for my family.
And the nanny job is exactly what I need.

So, here I am.
In the home of the man, I’ve fantasied over for as long as I can remember.
He’s everything and more than I ever imagined.

I shouldn’t risk my job over my attraction to him.
Not even when it seems he feels the same way.

Giving in, is a dream that carries a massive risk.

When our past mistakes catch up with us and accusing fingers start pointing, choices will have to be made.
Will I be enough to keep him and the job I so badly need?

Luke by A.S. Roberts a stunning five-star read. This is number four in the Default Distraction series and just like the other three stories, this one deserves chef kisses. I love everything this author writes and Luke just had that something extra. Getting to know Luke and his history the depth and emotion of his story just blew me away. Then when you add Nikki and her family history, it becomes an explosive five-star read. One that will enamour you to the story and make you fall in love with both of them. This was a great story and one that everyone needs to read, do not miss this amazing series.

December 2025/January 2026 reread -

Luke may well have been the last of the Default Distraction guys to have his story told, but in my opinion, A.S. Roberts truly saved the best for last. I absolutely adored reliving Luke and Nikki's journey and experiencing the full range of emotions it brought out in me.

It has been an absolute pleasure spending the festive season with Default Distraction and their leading ladies. Choosing to reread this series was the best decision.

October 2021 review -

I have had my grabby hands at the ready for Luke’s story. Having devoured and absolutely loved each of the three other Default Distraction band member’s stories, I anticipated that I would thoroughly enjoy reading this book…. and I did! I’m now sitting here thinking about Luke and Nikki’s journey, whilst feeling gutted that my time with those DD men and their ladies has come to an end.

It’s been some time since I read a book that grabbed my attention instantly and held it throughout, and Luke’s story certainly did that. This is a wonderful and easy story to read. The DD guys are each other’s family and having read the previous books in this series, I had already met Luke and knew a little about him. I absolutely loved learning more about this wonderful man. He has not had an easy life, and my heart hurt for him when he relived his past. If anyone truly deserves happiness it is this kind and caring man who has the biggest heart but sadly carries the blame for what he believes are his past mistakes. I desperately wanted Luke to see the bigger picture during certain scenes in this narrative, hoping that he would come to believe that he was worthy.

Nikki is an incredible person. I adore her personality and I loved her maturity too. You will know from reading the synopsis that Nikki has had a crush on Luke for a number of years, so the scenes when they first meet and during those early days are wonderful to witness. They quickly fall in love but life is never simple and there were moments when I wondered if they could work through the obstacles that stood in the way of them finding a lifetime of happiness together.

Brie stole the limelight at times in my opinion. This young girl added so much to the storyline and her presence allowed us to see exactly how close the DD family are. I loved witnessing every interaction between Nikki and Luke. I also loved those scenes which included the rest of the band. In fact, I felt that all the characters played an important role in making this book such a pleasure to read. All the books in this series follow a similar timeline but are told from the perspective of that particular story’s leading characters, so if you haven’t read the other books (and why haven’t you!?!?) then you can enjoy reading Luke as a standalone without any confusion. You will go back and read the others - that's a certainty!

Luke is a must-read, in fact his bandmate’s books are too! Brody, Rafferty, Cade and Luke are up there with my favourite rock star romance stories. This book is filled with emotion, heat and some drama, and I’d recommend it to you without any hesitation. Luke receives 5 fabulous stars from me! I sincerely hope this isn’t the last we see of these incredible characters.

What happens when a hot sexy rockstar meets an English Nanny? One a amazing hot book. The tension between them from the beginning is so strong.

I have loved reading their story and meeting the rest of the band. I can't wait to read more from the group.

Wow! Just wow. This book really took my soul and would not let go! Luke brought a lot to the table as a character, and he was someone that was so easily to fall in love with, and connect with as well. His background made the story, in more than one way, this book was different than most, in a very positive way!

Luke was a noble man I dare to say, he put his daughter above all else. He really was a good father in truth. If it was good for his daughter and her well being, then it certainly was good for him. Luke had gone through a lot, with the history of loss, that still impacts him to this day, and defiantly weighs on his daughter's heart. Losing someone so dear to both of them. Luke has his heart torn up in past events and no way possible he is up for love or even trusting someone again. Throw in the marvelous Nikki who comes to be Luke's nanny for his darling daughter. Nikki had a past of her own, a past of hurt and drama that still reflected upon her to this day What she did not expect, as well as Luke, is the connection these two souls feel, perhaps even to heal both their heart's in ways they never thought possible...?

For me, I loved the emotional whirl wind this novel gave to me. Luke's story was of love, passion, pain, and trying to heal. And putting his best foot forward, for his daughter was his world and he would make sure she got everything she deserved, and lived a good life. For me that was super admirable and wonderful to read, despite everything Luke had endured, his love for his daughter kept him going. I loved Nikki as well, who had sufferings in a different concept. What I enjoyed probably the most thought, was the times Luke and Nikki shared together with Brie, they bonded as souls, as well as a family and realized they had a good thing going for them all, but would they allow their hearts to be open to this idea?

Beautifully written and amazing read. Pulled at all my heart strings as I read it, when I finished it and the story of Luke was completed, I was left wanting more, as the characters were a impactful and delight to read about. I was content with the story's end though, no doubt on that one! I just had such a good time reading this, it was a must read for sure. Highly recommend this book, and have your tissues near by!

What’s not to love about Rockstar romance- right? This is all that and more! Hands down one of the best Rockstar romance stories/series that I have read- and I have read quite a few. Ms. Roberts knows her craft so well. This story has so much depth, development, interest, and attention to detail. And, when combined with the rest of the series- magic happens!
Luke is the fourth book in the amazing Default Distraction series by A.S. Roberts. As with the previous three books, this is a superb Rockstar romance with plenty of emotion, drama, angst, chemistry, sizzle, tension, family friendship, choices, new beginnings, a touch of suspense- as well as being a bit of a window into the Rockstar lifestyle.
It could be read as a standalone, but I really recommend reading the previous three books first, as they help to build the backbone of the series, introduce the characters and provide other important details that can only enhance your reading experience of this book- as well as the series as a whole- not to mention that they are a wonderful reading experience in their own rights.
Can’t wait to see what Ms. Robert’s has in store for us next!

Thank you, A.S. Roberts!

Ahhh Luke – I haven’t fallen in love with a character like this one for such a long time – he is definitely book boyfriend material! I loved the other books in the series but there was just something about Luke that had me swooning over him from the very beginning! I love his devotion to his daughter; she clearly means everything to him and that comes through so much in this story. Brielle, she was just the cutest and I loved reading about her!! I really liked Nikki, and I just knew as soon as she became involved with Luke that she was going to fall for him – who wouldn’t!! I absolutely loved them together, a genuine chemistry and such a wonderful couple. There were definitely some emotional moments in the story as well as angst and more!
I think it’s safe to say Ms Roberts saved the best band member until last and I am gutted there are no more! I have loved this series and would highly recommend it to others!

This is the fourth book in this series which I enjoyed just as much as the previous books. This is an author that I have enjoyed from the first book I picked up of hers. I enjoy being pulled into the story by this author’s use of attention to details and her writing skills. This book is no different. It is a well written story that has characters that are connectable and made the story entertaining to read. It is an engaging story that is fast paced and brought to life. This is Luke and Nikki’s story. Both of them come from backgrounds where their family life is not the best. She is in search of herself when she takes on a nanny job. The problem is she has dreamed about Luke but could she risk a job she needs to be with him? I enjoyed their chemistry and growth throughout the story. They made the story fun to read and just great, strong characters that heat up the pages. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Wow!! What a brilliant (but sad because it is finished now) conclusion to this magnificent series.
A.S. Roberts has created a rag tag but super cohesive band of rockers. Each of their stories has been beautiful and heart warming. Now we have reached Luke, the final story and what may be one of the most emotional. Luke has suffered the loss of his wife and the mom to his sweet little girl.
When Nikki comes to be the nanny, love is in the air but sadly so are lies.
It is heartbreaking to see the turmoil and confusion that interferes with their relationship.
Be prepared to fight for these characters so that they can reach their dreams. Oh and wait until you meet Brielle - so adorable!
You won't want to leave this world of angst and rockers! Start at the beginning for the full musical experience

Aaahhh Luke! What can I say I feel like AS Roberts saved the best for last here.
Not only an amazing Rockstar series this is also stories of the relatable life’s behind the scenes of the “Rock and Role Lifestyle”

Single dad Luke & his beautiful little daughter Brielle come as a package and getting to know in depth of his difficult life behind him makes me love and respect him so much more.

Nikki coming into Luke’s like and knowing her history too made me love these characters separately but knowing what a strong duo they’d make not only together as a couple but the wolf pack trio.

I read this in one sitting as I was so engrossed and couldn’t believe the story we went through, I do have to say Luke is my favourite book I thoroughly enjoyed it so much.

If you love rockstar read this series is a definite must read 🧡🧡

AS Roberts I cannot wait to see what you come up with next xx

Andrea has done it again! Luke is book 4 in the Default Distraction series, and wow! Luke is Default Distraction’s super sexy bass player and a single dad to 4 year old Brielle. Add Nikki the nanny to this story and you get a delectable slow burn, swooning, angsty rockstar story that is hard to put down!

Andrea does something unique with this series in that each book is written in the same time period. As you progress through the series you will experience the same events but from the perspective of each band member as well as gain a different points of view of experiences the other band members had while in their books.

Awesome series! Luke is awesome, one you don’t want to miss!

OMG! Wow! Those Default Distraction boys have me hook, line and sinker!
Luke! Oh Luke! This man has my heart!
Nikki was a great heroine too. She had plenty of style and sass with the biggest heart but the star of the show had to be little Brie, what a cutie.
As we expect the boys are right there throughout bringing all the antics, banter, laughs and camaraderie. It wouldn't be the same without all their sarcasm and wit!
This is without a doubt my favourite rockstar romance series ever! There's drama, angst, fun and laughter, they're the most loving dysfunctional family and I'm here for it all! Simply perfect!!

Luke by AS Roberts is the fourth book in the Default Distraction series. This is another fantastic addition to this series and probably my favourite one so far. I loved Luke and Nikki! I loved their connection and the pasts that drove them to each other. The ways they were finding to handle it all and the journey that entailed was amazing to read about.
I always enjoy the single parent stories and I loved the way the author handled this one. It felt like such an effortless story that just pulled you in simply by its good writing. This is a brilliant book and a fantastic series. I would highly recommend reading both!

Book 4 and it hasn't lost its steam! A.S. Roberts seriously is amazing. Excellent writing, amazing stories and this series gets even better and better! The story of Luke and Nikki was just another story I couldn't put down. The plot was great as always, and the story just flows so nicely, with all the ups and downs and twists and turns you just can't stop flipping the pages and before you know it you're done and looking for the next! If you're even a little bit curious just go now and get all of the Default Distraction series! You won't be disappointed!

Outstanding! You can’t help but fall in love with these characters.

Everyone has their own struggles and, with her attention to detail and the ability to describe their emotions, Roberts has created a masterpiece.

Luke is the last of four books in the series and can be read as a complete standalone. It’s raw, real and sometimes comical scenes made this book the perfect way to say goodbye to the band.

To be able to write four books, revolving around the same time period, is not an easy task. You won’t be disappointed. Grab a comfy seat and be ready for all the feels.

What can I say? The best was certainly left for last.

And what a story we were given, a sexy band member, a stunning nanny and the cutest little girl in the world.

We get tears, laughter and most importantly love from this story.

I’m just sad that this the last in the series but hopefully not the last we’ll hear from the 4 band mates of Default Distraction

I’m quite sad that it’s come to an end in all honesty. After reading the first 3 DD books that were so different but combined made a whole - I wasn’t sure where Andrea would take Luke’s story. Yet again, she kept it real, on point and gave us laughter, intensity and sadness. Fate was meant to bring these 2 together and the story doesn’t disappoint. I love the supporting characters, the storyline , the depth of leading people and how experiences can pave the way for your next relationship. I feel we need a Christmas story or when many hotels have been opened as this cannot be the end. Well done Andrea!

In this book Luke needs a nanny for his daughter and Nikki needs a job. Nikki becomes Luke's nanny. Nikki and Luke feel an instant attraction for one another. Luke struggles with his abandonment issues. Overall a good romance story. I liked Nikki as a character. This is the first book I read in this series. I might go back and read the others.

I was so excited to read Luke. This series has been one of the most enjoyable Rockstar book series that I have ever read, with characters feeling like family and memorable storylines with easy-flowing words. We’ve now reached Luke, the final member of the band - and boy what a story it was! Luke and Nikki have both experienced difficult pasts which pulled at my heartstrings and certainly explained their actions in life. A special mention has to go to Luke’s daughter, Brielle. What a little superstar and she stole my heart and made me smile big whenever she featured on the page. AS Roberts has superbly created a story filled with emotion and characters that feel so real. Despite there being a couple of times of me tearing up, the story is well balanced with humour and scorching hot spice and proved to be such a captivating read; one that I didn’t want to end. This has five stars stamped all over it.

I thought I loved Brody but I have to change my mind I really, really love Luke he has gone through so much and still carries on. He could easily have broken up with Nikki when he believed the story he was told and for a while he did believe it but she convinced him it was all lies. To go from a foundling to be in one of the best groups out there was amazing.

LUKE (DEFAULT DISTRACTION #4) by A. S. Roberts

• Luke is the fourth book in Default Distraction by A.S. Roberts and Holy Cow just when I didn’t think this series could get any better then Boom Luke’s story. I wish I could give this way more than five stars because this author definitely deserves it. I’m a huge fan of Rock Star Romances and this one definitely takes the cake. The characters are well developed and easy to fall in love with. I love them all and the way they all stand up for each other made my heart happy. This is Luke and Nikki's story. She comes from a tight nit family and would do anything for them. She’s a Nanny who finds herself in need of a new job and finds herself in a interview with Luke who she’s had a major crush on since she was a teenager. She of course takes the job and finds that even though she is not a teenager she’s definitely attracted to him probably more than ever. Luke pretty much came from nothing and climbed his way up to the top. He really had issues with acceptance and letting go. He has it all ,a band with some pretty amazing men a beautiful daughter who is his everything and then in walks Nikki. Luke feels something with her he hasn’t in a long time but he feels a bit guilty in ways. Both of them are attracted to the other. Can these two have a relationship? Will she be enough to keep him and the job? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to see what this author brings us next.

This beautiful, powerful story has captured my heart. Luke has let his start in life define his feelings, he might be 34 but in his head and heart he is still the baby that was abandoned, Brie and the guys in the band are the only ones to slip through. Nikki has worked hard to help her family, her own wants put on a back burner while she helps do what she can for them. Losing her job she immediately sets to finding another and it's a job that dreams are made of. This last book in this series has been much anticipated by fans and boy does it deliver, it consumed my thoughts even when I had to put it down, coz life you know gets in the way. My heart soared and it cried at various parts, at others it smiled, cheered and others it screamed. It had me smiling or shaking my head. Brie was an angel and knew exactly what she and her dad and in some ways even Flint and the other guys needed, Nikki was understanding, loving and supportive with all. I feel a little lost now it's finished because I could have happily read more, the epilogue could definitely have been ooh at least another 5 or 6 chapters lol. I loved reading this story and the characters that made it, I don't even know how the author will be able to match, let alone beat this in another book so maybe in lots of ways ending this series here is good and moving onto something new means freshness and difference. Andrea, amazing ❤🤗😍 well done. Started 29/10/21 Finished 30/10/21

I just completed Luke(Default Distraction Book 4) by A.S. Roberts and while I did enjoy the storyline and premise, I had some difficulty staying engaged with the main characters. I read this because of the nanny factor and I was slightly miffed that there was lack of Nikki’s actual job happening. She is hired by Luke to help care for his daughter, Brielle, but Brielle always seems to be going off with the other adults and Nikki is left with Luke to have their love affair. We do get glimpses of her actually caring for Brielle, but it was far and few in between. I guess I was just put off by this.
Nikki and Luke do seem made for each other, Luke being a rockstar who Nikki has been in love with since her teenage years. They have their meet-cute and the story follows their love story. I did enjoy the supporting characters, especially Nikki’s family. I did wish to get more information about her family but I was able to grasp that they were a tight knit group. I enjoyed the other band members in the story as well.
I did not read the other three books prior to this installment and not sure if I will go back to them or not. The main pull on this book to draw me in just didn’t live up to my expectations but I would recommend to others to read it, but maybe start with the first in the series and it will be more of an enticing read.

Luke is book four in the Default Distraction series by A.S. Roberts. Rocking romances are a favourite of mine and this author writes terrific, emotional and intensely sensual stories. She ignites an insatiable hunger for more and her characters are acutely individual and deeply intriguing. Some wear their hearts on their sleeves, while others are surrounded by a shroud of mystery. Her leading ladies are helpless against these men and set out to burrow deeply under their skin and steal their hearts for eternity.

Luke and Nikki were an absolute tumultuous joy to read about. Daughters, desirable nannies and a man fighting a personal struggle, this story has it all. I was unable to put this book down. It was just too beguiling. Too arousing. Too powerful. But not too believable. It was passionate, deep and entertaining. I could not have wanted for more. I fell hard for these two and the eclectic bunch that is Default Distraction. Author Roberts, you should be proud. This was an outstanding story. Also, part of an unforgettable series. 5 stars.

LUKE (DEFAULT DISTRACTION #4) by A. S. Roberts

5 out of 5 Stars

This series is amazing! The characters are fantastically flawed with luggage, not just baggage, that are trying to be better humans. The characters are funny, caring, delicate, intelligent and despite being rock stars, completely relatable.

Luke McKenzie is haunted by the trauma of his childhood and the guilt of his wife’s death. Now he is raising his daughter with the help of his bandmates. After his most recent nanny left to start a family of her own, Luke is now looking for a new one. He has to meet his daughter’s very strict list of qualifications, including loves to dance.

Nikki Osborne has recently returned home after a disastrous experience at her last nanny job. She agreed to help out the local dance instructor with some lessons while looking for her next position. When Luke finds Nikki’s advert for an opening, he thinks he has found the perfect fit for his daughter. Is she also the perfect fit for Luke?

The emotional rollercoaster the author takes you through keeps you flipping those pages. I lost track of time and couldn’t put this one down. I am a Double D girl for life.

Luke Default Distraction book 4 is the next amazing book in this fantastic series. I was hooked yet again from the very first word to the very last. I was pulling for this gorgeous couple every step of the way.

Luke is the Bass Player for Default Distraction and has made huge changes in himself, along with the rest of the band, with his main focus being creating a loving supportive family for his gorgeous daughter Brielle. They have all put down roots and he now needs a new nanny for Brie. Along comes Nikki, a fantastic nanny who Brie instantly loves BUT his attraction to her is instant and intense. He doesn't want to risk messing things up with Nikki for his daughters sake but as each day passes he realises he might just need her as much as Brie does. For Nikki being around Luke is an absolute dream come true, she has been a huge fan for years but she needs this job not just for herself but for her family. How long can she fight what is building between them though?

I was extremely excited to see this arrive! I love all the others in the series. So I dug right in. I am glad the author saved Luke for last because his story was out (in previous books) and I was curious how she would spin it. I was and wasn’t disappointed. The bad first…It starts off slow until about Chapter 10. There are a lot of details that seemed more filler. Questions asked in conversation then two pages later an answer. In all honesty, I did skim over that stuff and went right to the answer.
I loved a lot about this story! The author does a great job recreating scenes in previous books but this time give us Luke’s perspective (That scene where they play in the hotel-is great). I enjoyed seeing more of Flint and Brie and the fun they have. The band members are also in here and I loved seeing their fun sides as well as their professional sides.

Overall I enjoyed Luke’s story, especially the Epilogue and the ending after that! A perfect ending to the series.

“Our mistakes and failures don’t define us; they don’t hold us back. It’s our own fears and regrets that do that.” This quote, along with a few others from this amazing love story really hit home. I have to say, this one just about sums up how I’ve been feeling as of late, and the way it’s integrated into Luke and Nikki’s story, gave me the chills. I adore the writing style, and between this and Cade that I read before, I’m hooked. As soon as I have the time, I will be reading the two other novels in this series, and will be recommending them to others, as well.

Between the devastating back story that comes with Luke, and has made him into the person he is, holding everyone (except his Double D brothers, and his daughter Brie) at arm’s length to protect himself, and the way Nikki melts through to him, and cares deeply for his daughter as if she were her own, was addictive. I refused to book this book down, every chance I had, it was being devoured, and I cannot wait to read more by this author. Wow!
