The conclusion to this limited series run with the character of Ty who has left the Jedi Order. She is now a monster hunter.

They save the best issue for the last one. A wonderful conclusion to this limited series. It had heart while the twist played out. It also has a connection with Ty's past and with that it has a message. It also had character growth for the main character and hinted at more adventures with the characters in this run. I am not sure if that will happen or not but I would definitely read more of them if it did. The flaw of this issue like the previous issues is the flashback. Not enough space to really delve into it and it is a missed opportunity. Once again the artwork is excellent.

I haven't been the biggest fan of all the offerings in this series. This one I did enjoy and it still baffles me what Disney is doing with this series. One of the better limited runs in this series and they are not putting it into one collection for fans to purchase. Once again, Disney shows it has no idea what fans of this universe really want.

“But that’s where you’re wrong, Layton, you and your idiot followers. I’m not a Jedi and I’m not alone!”

From the very first time I read anything about Ty Yorrick I knew she was going to be a character that I was going to love. Getting to see more of her story, especially her very mysterious past was exactly what I wanted and now, with all the pieces in place and the story finally complete, I can say that Ty's story was just as traumatic as I expected but nothing at all what I thought it would be.

Which, at the end of the day, is exactly what I wanted to say about it.

Ty's past was the aspect that fascinated me the most through the run of these issues and I'm a great fan of how it subverts expectations and has that subtle tone to it all. It made me sad, but I also understand her character much better after knowing it.

However, the present part of the story was just fine.

As much as monster-hunting seems like a fun endeavor, I can't say that I was as invested in discovering what was going on there as I was with the past. It felt fairly standard and, quite honestly, disappointing since this whole job was built to be this hugely dramatic thing and ended being somewhat bothering but not really all that severe if you asked me.

So, yeah. Combining both parts we have a fun and intriguing comic series with some quirky and dear characters that build nicely on the mystery that is Ty Yorrick.

“You know, maybe it’s time I started making decisions for myself.”

_______________

Man, that played out both exactly as I expected and completely different than anything I thought could happen.

It does all make perfect sense now.

I'm so ready, and so not ready, to finish this story.

Ty is a character that was so mysterious when first introduced that this short story explaining a bit of her was so nice I can never truly express it. I'll be sad to see her go. At least I hope it won't be forever.

I'm excited.

using this as a placeholder for reading all 4 issues. I'm a huge fan of Ty, I'm a big fan of Drewwn who's introduced in this series, and I am excited to see more adventures coming from them soon.

A great conclusion to The Monster Of Temple Peak series! Ty Yorrick was interesting in her first book appearance but even better in the comics!

I’ve enjoyed this mini-series greatly and would, honestly, quite happily keep buying more issues if they decided to provide her with a longer-running solo series. Star Wars The High Republic: Ty Yorick #1, in comic book stores 2023? I think she deserves it! There’s also definitely a lot more they could do with the character, both moving forward with more monster hunting and training Kayel, but also exploring more of her backstory. The panel where she stabbed her fellow Padawan Klias had me struggling to tear my eyes away to move on to the next page, and it would be interesting to see more of what happened after with her leaving the order and becoming a monster hunter.

But I would clarify Id only want this if it stays under Cavan Scott’s writing and keeps Rachael Stott as the artist; they’ve done good work together on this run and I wouldn’t want Ty’s character to carry on without their influence.

aaand Cavan Scott has done it again and delivered an absolutely incredible, satisfying arc for his protagonists! While I'm usually not a big fan of monster hunter stories and the fact that she's after creatures is the least interesting thing about Ty to me, this story just works, because it gives us so much more than that. Ty Yorrick shines on every page, her personality has layers and depth and the way the past is contrasted with the present in this miniseries was handled so well.
I truly hope she shows up in more stories, I'd love for Cavan Scott to write more about her in the future. Ty isn't just a bad bisexual bitch, she's also emotional and full of doubt, and I appreciate that about her. She has easily turned into one of my favourite characters from The High Republic - and this story only solidified that status.

Going thru issues 2-4 today, and I finally realize something about Ty Yorrick. She reminds me so much of Asajj Ventress. Both ex-Jedi turned hunters, both with personalities that actually kinda infuriate me lol, but because of all the potential there, all the room for the character development, I think Ty Yorrick can easily, inevitably rise as one of my absolute faves from this era. She definitely fits the comic form very nicely, and I wouldn't mind getting more of her hunting jobs in comic form as well. I also badly need more backstory reveal, and some character development of her as well.

The Monster of Temple Peak has come to a thrilling conclusion, with the promise that Ty Yorrick will return (which was a given, considering her introduction in Rising Storm) but it is certainly a relief given how brilliantly fun this series was.

We now know what turned Ty Yorrick away from the Jedi Order—or at least the beginning of her end. After Klias touched the ancient cultist relics, he was overtaken by the voices in his head and tragically killed by Ty in an act of self-defense. That’s certainly a good reason to leave the Order or perhaps be edged out. It seems like there is still more story left to tell there.

In the present, Ty has had a major revelation about why she was summoned by the settlers. It turns out that Layton had captured one of half of the Gretalax and was causing them undue suffering. This twist was spectacular and certainly reinforces some of the ideas I’ve been so fascinated with in The High Republic. These settlers came to the planet to profit off of the horns of the Greta and the Lax, because it was out in the Outer Rim and no one would care. They thought that they were the superior beings and didn’t care who they harmed in the process.

This nicely mirrors Klias’ choice to take the cultist relics, rather than leaving them where they belonged. At long last, we’re seeing clear-cut examples of colonization and the cause and effect of it. Even in sentient creatures like the Greta and Lax. Ultimately the native peoples and creatures on these planets just want to live and coexist without being used for profit or forced from their homes.

While Ty may have been forced to kill Klias in the past, she makes a point to state that she draws the line at killing someone when she fights Layton. Personally, I hope the Greta and the Lax had him for dinner, because he was the actual monster of Temple Peak.

I’m really intrigued to see when and where Drewen returns, given the fact that Kayel left the commbud with him. Can we expect Drewen and Pela to return in the future? Perhaps to help Ty in a moment of need? I’d love to see this little trio tracking down monsters together again.

Overall, The Monster of Temple Peak was one of the strongest “mini” stories that we have received thus far. I think in part that was because it focused on a singular character who is compelling in her own right, but also I think it’s because it was very fresh and new. Ty isn’t a Jedi, but she still operates adjacent to them. She very much reminds me of some of the characters from the Expanded Universe—characters who were both a bounty hunter and a sort of Jedi. These characters that exist in the grey in-between realm.

I look forward to seeing where Ty Yorrick’s story goes next and I’m excited to see how all of the flashbacks will shape and inform the course moving forward. The High Republic is just top-notch storytelling across the board and this tapestry of characters is getting more rich and vibrant every day.

Definitely my favourite High Republic content yet. Ty is such a wonderful character with depth. A former Jedi turned Monster Hunter takes on a contract, but not all is as it initially seems. I really enjoyed the flashbacks showing us how Ty got to where she is.

"I’m not a Jedi… And I’m not alone.”

This final issue wraps up this story well, gives the reader all the answers to the central mysteries surrounding the onster of Temple Peak and finally reveals the dramatic event of Ty Yorrick's past that has been teased throughout this story. I've enjoyed this story a lot, and this ending did not disappoint.

I love the reveals Scott gave us and I especially liked how the monster's storyline was handled and how nothing was quite so black-and-white as it originally seemed. Ty was an absolute badass in this issue and getting to finally see her backstory - and what probably prompted her leaving the order as a padawan - was very rewarding. It fits her character so well and I'm not really intrigued to one day re-read the Rising Storm, knowing what has happened to her. I can't wait to see more stories about her. She is one of the most fascinating characters in the High Republic story in my opinion.

I really recommend this series for anyone looking for some more High Republic content or for anyone who read the Rising Storm and wants to learn more about Ty. Cavan Scott is a wonderful author and this story is just so fun and exciting. Plus, the art is great!

This was great.

An incredible ending for this miniseries that left me wanting for so much more. The story was amazing, the present story was engaging and made me care for Ty, Drewen and the secondary characters. But i liked A LOT the flashbacks, it wasn't much but it was enough and super interesting, and the way it "ended" was something i kinda expected but wasn't in the top for me, i hope at one point they show us more of her time at the order. The artwork progressively got better, it was never bad but comparing some of the panels from issue 1 and issue 4 i would say it definitely improve.

With only this four issue serie and her time in The Rising Storm, Ty Yorrick became one of my favourite characters of this era (i would say she's at number two, close after Sskeer). I do hope they expand more into this monster hunter and saber-for-hire thing. Her relationship with Drewen was perfect and to see it grow, i want to see more of it.

Overall issue 4: Excelent conclusion for the story and leaving (as most of the time) some sort of open door for future stories (which i hope they give us more).

Overall miniseries: Astounding miniseries from start to finish, the five stars i give this issue repressents how amazing issu 4 was and how incredible the whole series was.

This was the last issue of Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures - The Monster of Temple Peak and concludes this adventure of Ty Yorrick. It was published November 17, 2021 (less than a week before this review) by IDW publishing. It is written by Cavan Scott and illustrated by Rachel Stott.

This issue uncovers the truth on what was up with the cave as well as the reason she left the Jedi order which, from my recollection, had not been yet uncovered in the novels or comics previously. The story was intriguing and the artwork was top notch. It was teased at the end that Ty Yorrick will return which I look forward to as I find her an enjoyable character.

The 4 issues in this story are pretty much in the same tone, and in my opinion it's a solid release.

I repeat what I posted for issue 1, I think the idea behind the story is pretty good, the adventures of a character that is a sort of Luke Skywalker mixed with Geralt of Rivia. A (former) jedi monster hunter.

The storytelling is simple but effective, the art is pretty good. A solid formula, a good start for Ty Yorrick, yet far from memorable or groundbreaking.

Monster of Temple Peak is in my opinion one of the better stories that have come out so far in the High Republic comic/manga series.

I'd give it a 8/10.

I thought I'd have mixed feelings about the ending. But as it continued and revealed what it really was, I was satisfied.
