Mystery and horror surround a long-abandoned estate, seemingly forgotten by the town. So when Callie and Mike move in and begin renovations, the manor seems perfect. However, strange things start to happen in the old house, and soon enough, Callie is forced to deal with some hard truths as she discovers spirits inhabit the house, and they aren't happy with the manor's new occupants.
Well, I usually don't read "ghost" stories, but this one grabbed me from the beginning. It is filled with suspense, drama, mystery and twists you don't see coming. It was worth the read!
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
It’s funny, I know I’ve read and reviewed this story; which must have been under a different title. This version filled in the blanks I found under my previous reading. The plot, characters, and scene settings are just okay. There’s nothing that really grabs you, or draws you in. It’s just a bland ghost story.
Yikes! This is yet another of the "Riveting Haunted House Mystery" books that has the title misspelled, or at least not the same as it's listed, and -- AND one author on the cover and another on the listing? I guess proofreading isn't their strong suit.
The story itself was great. However grammar and spelling do count! I hope the author will consider proofreaders and maybe an English 101 class. At the very least, learn the difference between there, their and they're!
Ok, I liked the book. I have read stories that are very similar but it was different enough to keep my interest. What threw me from a 4 star to a 3 was the Epilogue - did anyone else find this a contradiction to the ending of the story? I don't want any spoilers but ... huh?
Never discourage a child's truths. Innocent visions are sometimes sweet souls come to right wrongs! Great reading a book that scares you, while living the characters! the characters
I have read most of the books in this series and this is probably one of my favorites. I enjoy "ghost stories" than allow me to mindlessly slip into the book. This was one of those book. I would recommend it to others of the ghostly genre fan base.
This book was amazing in character and personality not only of the living characters but the spirits as well. There was depth to the mystery surrounding them all and it kept me turning the pages. I highly recommend this book.
Thank you for this story and for the love you provide van fight through anything. I must admit that I have not given your book a good consideration I just love haunted house stories write more sincerely christinedunne Harlingen Texas god bless
This haunted house mystery novel was pretty good, but definitely had room for improvement. The plot was interesting but the pace was a little too slow and there wasn’t as much ghost action as I would have liked to have seen. The characters got on my nerves at times.
A new author to me and I was very reading as fast as I could to find out what would happen new, a very good read, I know I will be reading more from Marie Wilkens
With all the twists and turns of a young family that inherited a old mansion from a unknown relative to ghosts, angry towns people to long time hired help equals to a great book! Enjoy !!
Very good reading. Couldn't put it down. Even when the battery died , had to plug it in to keep reading. Will keep you wondering who really killed them.
A fascinating story of a seriously haunted estate, a highly dysfunctional lineage, lots of character evolution, and endearing characters working through a milieu they couldn't have expected. Definitely a page-turner, and I'm anticipating further from this author.
I suggest 13+ because there is some violence, including to children and women, and misogyny and homophobia prevalent in a character.
