Tess, our h, is a wild, independent adrenaline junkie that can survive on her own. She has a kick-ass job, family, and identity of her own. Alexander is mysterious, guarded and likes to keep things under his control. When they connect it's fireworks but is that all it's meant to be, a brilliant flash and then it's over?

This was a new to me author. I had no idea what to expect. I really liked these characters. Tess, the h is more than fiesty she holds her own demanding respect. Her best line for me, "I am the fire!" Damn right you are!! Our H, Alexander is wounded and withdrawn from life. Can the love of a good woman bring him to life. Their journey is bumpy but interesting.

There was a lot packed into this book, like wow a lot of plot points. It definitely kept me turning the pages. Sometimes the writing felt too simplistic for the complexity of the story. Not sure but there were parts lacking the depth the story required. Also, I didn't buy the big, unsurprising twist at the end if our hero is as hands-on and controlling as he was described.

The writing could be a little cliche at times, especially in the sexy scenes. I really wanted the H to unleash the beast so to speak. We see hints of it mentioned but never shown. If anything she felt more dominant and he was more emotional. I get it was all about the connection.

Writing overall was ok. Dialogue could be boring. Lots of telling not showing. A lot of hammering home of the H's past in vague mentions, so it felt repetitive without contributing to the story. We get it he thinks he's bad, tell or show me something else about him or expound on that vs just saying, "I dont deserve it." This is also why the ending feels off for me.

I absolutely loved the characters! The chemistry they have is undeniable. They're both independent and dominant personalities, which makes them clash in an interesting way. They don't meet and instantly fall in love. They take the long way around, and it was a fun journey!

I enjoyed their personal arcs. The characters each have their own flaws, and their own life problems that they have to overcome. So not only is their story about finding love where they didn't expect, it's also about them finding happiness they were missing in their lives. There's even a touch of danger and mystery.

The story is well written, and the love scenes are hot! It has plenty of steamy scenes, and they're balanced with sweet moments too. If you're looking for a sexy read, with strong willed characters, this is the book for you!

The heat between Tess and Alexander is constant throughout the book but I loved that it wasn’t instalove. There was a great buildup between the two which felt very real and natural. I loved that we also got to see their back story about why they were the way they were and the flaws they saw in themselves. There were quite a few twists and turns that I didn’t see coming that had me flipping through the pages and staying up way later than I had intended so I could finish it. If you want a read with heat and chemistry, you have to read Aces Wild! An unlikely pairing burns between each page and the storyline keeps you hooked until the end. I’m all about books with a strong female lead who knows what she wants and Tess is definitely that. Besides her relationship with Alexander, I also adored Tess’s relationships with others in the novel. The story was well in-depth and I can’t wait to read more by Stephanie.

This was my first Stephanie Renee book and I absolutely LOVED IT. I’m a huge fan of steamy romances in general and this is a standout. I loved her characters! I love love love that the heroine isn’t a meek little mouse. I love that she stands up for herself and holds her own.

Strap in for the steamy scenes in this book bc this author does them REALLY WELL. The heat level was exactly right. I’m really looking forward to more.

Finally! A female MC who isn’t an insecure , overweight, broke doormat!! That’s all I’ve been reading lately! Tess is a doctor, smart, fit, a little crazy, very sexual.. her personality was the best… Alexander was awesome too except for the fact that he kept calling himself a monster and saying he couldn’t commit just because he did something in self-defense years ago was kind of ridiculous! But this book checked off all my boxes and it was smoking hot too!!

Alexander gave me the ick from the very beginning. I'm all for guys being emotional, but this guy was supposed to be dark and brooding and he just ended up being a big baby. I liked that Tess was a bad@ss though. Usually it's the other way around, so that was refreshing. And Tess getting shot was very random. It came out of nowhere and really did nothing for the plot.

Also, the editing seemed to be nonexistent by the end of the book.

This is my first book by Stephanie and it won’t be my last! I loved this steamy read! It was instant attraction but not instalove, the chemistry was explosive 😍

Alexander is used to being in charge and getting his way, well, firecracker Tess brings him to his knees and I fucking loved it.
