Left For Dead

Rate this book
What's an innocent assassin to do?

Brad Morris was just cleared of murdering one annoying neighbor when another one turns up dead. Luckily, he was at a party with everyone on the block when the body was found, but that doesn't stop fingers from pointing his way. Especially since the murder weapon was a BlueBlade, the knife company that Brad's boss, Kurt, uses as a front for the real work that Brad and his fellow assassins do.

Kurt demands that Brad find the real killer — without blowing his cover or dragging BlueBlade into the investigation. If he can’t, he’ll be thrown to the wolves. Or worse, “retired.”

Does one of Brad’s suburban neighbors hate him enough to frame him for murder? Or does he have a much more dangerous enemy lurking within the fellowship of assassins?

WTH!!! Book one was gripping and exciting and had twists and turns to keep u on the edge of your seat no there was that cliffhanger that left you gasping! Well book two carries on from book one and it is every bit a good as book one if not better and the twists and turns had me biting my nails down to the quick! There’s tons of more suspicion, mystery, questions as we follow Brad and his family as they try to prove Brad’s innocence. Some things I did not see coming and then BAM! And I’m like what??? So much drama, so many clues, so many suspects, I am hooked and dying for book three!!

🗡Brad still mystified: when will the persecution end?!

4.5🌟 stars
This second book in the Dead for Good series piles even more headaches on for poor (?!) professional assassin and suburban family man Brad. Trouble spreads through his family and Brad just can't get a handle on why someone wants to get rid of him or why his boss is acting inconsistent. And he still has not made any headway in determining who killed his father and why. His teenage daughter Hadley plays a much bigger role in this part of the series and just can't seem to keep out of trouble. There are plenty of twists and complications and the climax provides another shocker that has yet to be resolved.

I liked the book but, for me, Dead for Good, the first book in the series, was better. Some issues here just get quickly resolved off stage and I would rather know how and why.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Left for Dead is the second book book in the Dead for Good series by Stacy Claflin and Nolon King.

This picks up soon after Dead for Good. Brad’s been cleared of Duke’s murder and was hosting a party when Allison was murdered, but people are still pointing the finger at him because he didn’t like her.

Brad wants to find the killer to get everyone off his back and to deal with family issues. If Brad is being framed, his attitude and behavior make it easy. I don’t particularly care for Brad, Hadley, or Faye, but the draw for me is the mystery. There are a lot of twists and just when you think you know who the bad guys are, something new pops ups up. What happens near the end makes me excited to read book 3 to see what is in store for Brad and his family.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This series is a real mystery/thriller! So the clock keeps ticking for Brad’s life, while his family turmoil grows huge. When I began reading this Dead For Good Series, I didn’t think I could enjoy a story about an assassin's life, but ended up totally hooked in book one, and now after book two, I find myself rooting for Brad, that he and his family comes out of this mess alive and well in book 3. There are such heart-pounding incidents throughout books 1 and 2, there’s got to be a big conclusion coming soon – Hopefully this will happen in book 3 – I couldn’t take it if I had to wait for that in a book 4! My honest opinion - I definitely recommend this series!

While I'm loving this book it is more of an episode. This book takes up right where the first one ended. It's a fairly quick read but packs quite a bit in. Brad and his family are still reeling from their next door neighbor being murdered and Brad being the prime suspect when another friend and neighbor is murdered. Brad realizes he's being framed but by whom? Is it someone at work or a neighbor? Or someone totally unrelated to him? There are lots of twists and turns and it ends in quite a cliffhanger. Glad they are being published fairly quickly as I can't wait to read the next one!

I really enjoyed this book! Getting to know more about Brad; his line of work, his wife Faye, their chillins, Zeke-14, Luna-7, and 17 going on 21 Hadley.
Still have mixed feelings on Kurt who is Brad's "boss", and what he's really involved in, is it really only knives? Then there is Detective Stewart - she's another interesting soul, (if she has one). I need more info on the Jessica part of Brad and Faye's life.
What's going to happen when everyone finds out about Duke's baby, when they find another body, is the right killer behind bars, is there more than 1? So many unanswered questions. I'm still on the edge of my chair waiting, waiting, yep, still waiting for the next book.

I hate to keep writing the same thing but when it's a very good story that's my truth. Stacy Claflin certainly has a way with words. Her books pull me in immediately and don't let go until the end. The style of her writing and her way with words feel like silk on paper. The storylines are great. They never get boring. Murder mysteries are my favorite genre. The characters are well developed and believable. The dialogue flows freely and smoothly. The editing is clean with very few or no errors. I highly recommend her books. I received an ARC for an honest review. Looking forward to book three in this series.

This book will have you completely enthralled in a matter of minutes. There are so interesting twists and turns. You will see the main character trying to figure out what is going on. He is trying to be more present for his family, figure out what happened with his mom, and his job.

This book has some major OMG moments. I was so engrossed in the story, I didn't even know it was at the end of the book. I am completely hooked and will need book 3 soon. Highly recommend reading this book/ series, you will not regret it.

I received this book to review. It is the second book in the series.
I have read many of Stacy's books but this series, in my opinion, is not one of her best. The premise is a little farfetched. There are several plot lines which the authors "try" to weave together but there doesn't seem to be enough depth in them to try and connect the dots to the main plot. As usual the book ends on a cliffhanger so, of course, I will read the next one to find out what happens.

Another dead body and guess who is the number one suspect again????? Did Brad do it this time? So many secrets are coming out - yes even more than in book 1. Kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat. People aren't always what they appear to be and neither are circumstances. Drama, murder, new relationships, new discoveries ........ I so hope the author is almost done with book 3.

Cliffhanger ending!

This book immerses you deeper into the story of the Morris family, a seemingly normal family, except that dad Brad is a trained assassin. Brad is being framed for the murder if two neighbors. You are taken on a roller coaster ride to find the truth. I cannot wait for book three!

Good story!

This is a well told story with an intriguing storyline. The plot is a combination of suspense and drama, without unnecessary or graphic content. There is some violence, but it's kinda integral to the plot. The characters are ok, but not Stacy's best. Still, worth reading.

I really liked the first in this series, but something about book 2 just didn’t feel right. Great writing, but I just felt like for some crazy- good assassin, Brad is not actually that great!
I won’t go into spoilers, but just feel like nothing much happened plot-wise. The other bits of drama were interesting, I’m just not really sure why I didn’t enjoy this one as much.

I couldn't wait to read on and this story was even more thrilling than the first book.

It's the second dead neighbor in Brad's neighborhood and somehow he is still the main suspect because it seems like someone tries to frame him. That's what Brad wants to find out but it's difficult with his mom living with them after a suspicious accident. If that's not hard enough, his daughter Hadley ends up with a big "problem" as well.

I received an advanced copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

The plot against Brad is getting deeper. Another neighbor he can’t stand has been murdered. Everything points at him been guilty and framed by someone close to him. Will the truth surface or will it get worse? Looking forward for the next next ok in the series.

Left For Dead

Loved the book. Just enough mystery to keep me interested. The book was over way too soon. Can't wait for "Dead of Night" the next book in the series!!

This is the second book in this series and I enjoyed it even more than the first. The characters are more fully developed and the storyline moved more quickly. The book was well written and the mystery was intriguing.

Brad isn't your average serial killer. He has a wife, kids, and a day job. But things are starting to get overwhelming. His mother falls for no apparent reason and has to move in with them. His teenage daughter is mourning the death of her too old boyfriend and Someone is once again framing Brad for the murder of another neighbor. Brad has to figure out who wants him to go down before he's arrested for a murder he didn't commit.

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
