Learning to be a living reaper is hard enough, but discovering your own father captures other paranormal beings to experiment on for the government? It’s something Ella Banks is trying to come to terms with. She’s starting to hate him a little because he’s not about to retire from the military, and she’s not about to change her mind that what he’s doing is just plain wrong.
This fact becomes even more apparent when a dragon shifter goes missing in town and the sheriff shows up to question Ella about her father’s comings and goings. She’s all but certain her dad took the shifter, and it’s tearing her apart. Should she betray her father, or should she stand up for the paranormal community? She’s at a loss as to what to do.
Before she can even begin to figure it out, she’s attacked in her home, and Eli, her Guardian Angel, starts to think her father’s superiors suspect Ella is something more than human.
And then there’s the guy who seems to have taken an interest in her. He’s cute, a football player, and a shifter. Another complication.
It’s all just a little much to deal with, and Ella decides tackle one thing at a time. First on the agenda is investigating what really happened to the dragon shifter, but along the way, her sister falls into the line of fire.
And it’s up to Ella and Eli to find the answers…before everything falls apart.
So who am I? Well, I'm the crazy girl with an imagination that never shuts up. I LOVE scary movies. My friends laugh at me when I scare myself watching them and tell me to stop watching them, but who doesn't love to get scared? I grew up in a small town nestled in the southern mountains of West Virginia where I spent days roaming around in the woods, climbing trees, and causing general mayhem. Nights I would stay up reading Nancy Drew by flashlight under the covers until my parents yelled at me to go to sleep.
Growing up in a small town, I learned a lot of values and morals, I also learned parents have spies everywhere and there's always someone to tell your mama on you. So when you get grounded, what is there left to do? Read! My Aunt Jo gave me my first real romance novel. It was a romance titled "Lord Margrave's Deception." I remember it fondly. But I also learned I had a deep and abiding love of mysteries and anything paranormal. As I grew up, I started to write just that and would entertain my friends with stories featuring them as main characters.
Now, I live Huntersville, NC where I entertain my family and watch the cats get teased by the birds and laugh myself silly when they swoop down and then dive back up just out of reach. The cats start yelling something fierce...lol.
I love books, I love writing books, and I love entertaining people with my silly stories.
Storyline picks up not long after the first book. Ella is trying to come to terms that she is now a living reaper and that her father is part of a government group that captures and tortures all supernatural creatures. Understandably she is having a hard time but Eli is such a great guardian angel and friend to her. In the midst of this a female school teacher who is also a dragon shifter disappears, a demon confronts Ella and her sister goes missing. Never a dull moment for Ella and Eli.
This was a great book. I enjoyed all the characters so much. I love this world. I am so glad that Apryl is still writing these books. Thank you! These are great books to curl up with before bed. Ella Banks is just learning how to be a living reaper. Eli is a great guy that all the girls love and want to talk to. I think they make great friends! I can't wait to read the next book. I am a huge fan for Apryl Baker too.
Really enjoyed this book. Very much a continuation of the first one, very little recapping which is a great thing for me. It’s an easy read with a great story line and likeable relatable characters!
Loved getting to know more about Ella and Eli and other characters as well.
Gave it a 4 star because I really enjoyed it but it’s not a blown me away will definitely re read again. Can’t wait for the next one in the series 😀.
Ella sure has been through the ringer after becoming a Living Reaper!! What a crazy world she finds herself in. But thank Goodness she has her Guardian Angel Eli...especially with someone or something trying to kill those closest to her (or even herself). And that ending....gave me the heebee jeebees...😂. Off to see what is going to happen now with this Reaper and her Angel. 😉
Hijinks and Misdemeanors picks up not long after the concluding events of the previous book. Ella is learning the ropes of being a living reaper while her relationship with her father begins to fall apart and her bond with her guardian angel, Eli, grows deeper. It was really disheartening to see what remaining trust, respect, and love she had for her father just whittle away. You can't really blame a girl when she finds out her father has been keeping secrets that involve kidnapping and experimenting on supernatural creatures. Eli continues to be there to support and protect Ella in all matters of her relatively complicated life. In this installment, she is dealing with the kidnapping of a dragon shifter, her sister's new mystery guy, a demon confrontation, and a new shifter boyfriend. It's a bit much for one living reaper to handle. Thankfully, she has a guardian angel there to keep her safe and support her. I appreciate that Ms. Baker continues to portray Ella as a very down to earth high school student who does normal teenage things like go on dates, even with everything else that's going on. Eli is also struggling with demons from his past, providing a continued opportunity for references and reflections to Ms. Baker's other series that first introduce readers to Eli. I look forward to seeing what challenges come next for Ella and Eli.
Author Apryl Baker brings us the continuing adventures of Ella Grace and her guardian angel Eli. In the weeks since her recovery from being run over Ella has helped a couple of ghosts cross over. Eli sends her a new friend a Dragon shifter who likes the bookworm that she is. But soon after meeting the Dragon shifter she goes missing. Ella goes home to grab some stuff and a shower and while she is showering a Demon watches her and as soon as the glass doors opens it touches her heart. She is put into shock and it's found out that the Army of which her father works for has bugged the house. This puts them on a path that leads Ella to be mad at her father time and time again. As this is going on and they're trying to find out what happened to the Dragon shifter Ella goes out on her first date with Matt a Panther shifter. His cat likes her but she is told that it might not be permanent should his mate show up and he would have to dump her. Near the end of this book Ella's younger sister is kidnapped and beaten but fights her way free. All the while Ella uses her new talents to help find her and help another ghost pass beyond. This is a great book and I'm looking forward to reading the next in this series. I highly recommend it to all Fantasy fans.
Honestly I was very putting off reading this book. Abduction and experimented on by very powerful people is more scarier than the Red church's mother of the darkness and that was scary. So when I couldn't help myself and had to take a look. I got lost. We get to know and understand more about everyone here which is great make more easier to connect with the characters and have better understanding.
Apryl Baker has something special in her written all the characters are very lovable there is this instant connection which doesn't break even after I reach the end. Only thing bothering me is I can't wait for the next book. If you haven't read this yet start from the beginning wouldn't regret it.
Hijinks and misdemeanours is part 2 of The reaper chronicles.
Ella is still coming to terms with finding out she’s a living reaper. She’s still learning the ropes when it comes to helping ghosts cross over. Luckily for her, she has her very own guardian angel, Eli, who protects her with everything he has. So when demons show up or a potential new boyfriend shows interest or her sister Cecily meets at mysterious new ‘friend’, she has Eli there to help and protect every step of the way.
This story is best read after part 1 and is an enjoyable read, I’m really looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
What kind of trouble are Eli and Ella going to get into next? This book kindof begins where the first one left off. Ella is learning how to be a reaper with Eli's help and slowly healing. But something happens that has everyone on high alert once again. Her father works for the army and Ella believes that he is doing far more for them then he should be. Is his job putting his daughter in danger? Then her only sister Cecily gets thrown into the mix. What is going on in the little town of humans and monsters? Hold on for another great adventure with these two. Another enjoyable well written book in this series. I absolutely love Ella and Eli.
Ella and Eli are back for more you guessed it...Hijinks and Misdemeanors.
It was another great book in the series, but who's surprised Apryl never disappoints!!!
The twists were definitely ones I didn't see coming. There were a few twists that I knew were being set up, but try as hard as I did to guess I was way off and boy oh boy I never expected the story to take the drastic turns it takes.
I did feel like the Living Reaper part of the story moves a little slower than the rest, but it's pretty fun getting to know the rest of the characters and their strengths as well.
I am so thrilled to have a new series from Apryl Baker. I am loving that there are subtle tie-ins to her other series but we also get new characters to love and adore. Ella is so sassy in that quiet way. I love her. Eli is well, he's Eli, if you know, you know. I am so thrilled to be along for another journey and you can already see the characters growing. There are great supporting characters and the story line is so fun. Can't wait to see what else is going to happen!
Eli continues to be as charming as ever while Ella navigates her gift. His protective demeanor always showing. I’m like rooting for them as the story progresses. Although, they might just be close friends due to circumstances.
The adventure of her being a reaper continues and gets interesting by. I felt like it was just going.
I love the writing. Onto see what is happening next after those who are being hurt around her.
In hijinks and misdemeanors we are back for a second round of Ella and Eli's adventures. Ella coming into her powers but having to hide them from bugs and cameras in her house. Eli still dealing with losing Maddie and everyone back home and Cece's secret boyfriend. While I wish this was just as long as the regular books I will settle for these being shorter because I love then so much.
This story is a little slower going than Mattie and Dan's but still a wonderful book. Ella is learning to deal with the powers she now possess and Eli is helping her a lot. Emma's sister gets kidnapped and it's all hands on deck to find her. Loved the dynamics in it. Just an all around wonderful story.
Ella Banks: The Reaper Chronicles: This is a tame and suspenseful paranormal young adult romance. The series is best read in order, and is comprised of quick read novellas. I love Apryl Baker’s writing style, and the world and character development she has created with this series. They are fun and entertaining.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love this book. Eli is my favorite character and I missed him. Glad to see that he is making his own way in life now. His new reaper is getting along well in her new role. I’m happy with the way things are going and can’t wait for more
4 out of 5 stars again. I can't wait to read more. I like where this is going and there appears to be even more gifts to unveil, mysteries to solve, and relationships to build. Enjoyable to say the least.
Not a lot of time has passed since the first book in the series and the start of this one. The thing about secrets is that they don't stay secrets long. What do you do when you find out someone you love is hunting and hurting those like you?
This was pretty good. There were a lot of strange consistency issues for a fairly short and straightforward plot. But the story was still interesting with a good (expanding) cast and multiple questions to answer (or maybe not quite yet).
This story was so moving, exciting, entertaining and interesting. Everyone is different in so many ways, we are not clones, it is interesting that her family is so closed off about this. Apryl is a PHENOMENAL storyteller and writer🤗😘.
I love how each book so far is pretty much its own and so easy to follow. It’s a quick but a good read. I love getting to know each character better and hope it keeps going.
Loved this second book. Another wonderful book from Apryl. It had me from the second I started reading it and couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the next book.
I am loving the characters in this series! For some reason when I picture Gramps I keep seeing the New Years Eve baby....I know its not right, but what can I say! 😅
Wow that's crazy but I'm going back to want you're interested in reading this series there is one more book in this series and maybe some smaller ones after it.
Love this series and also the ghost files and crane diaries!! Wish there were more books dor these series!! Didnt want them to end i thinknwe need more!!
A brilliant spin off from the ghost files which is my absolute favourite series to read and re-read. Can't wait to see what is to come next for Eli and Ella
