Make It Count

Rate this book
Sometimes the one you want is the one you shouldn’t…

Faith Baker’s never been a girly girl. Debutante ball and Junior League? No, thank you. That’s why working the family farm with her father suits her just fine. She’s more comfortable reeling in a fish than trying to hook a husband and keeping her hands in the dirt means no manicure necessary. She’s spent a lifetime being one of the boys, not chasing them. One notable exception: Cade Allen. But lusting after your best friend’s brother is never a good idea, especially when he’s more interested in work than sowing the seeds of romance.

Cade Allen relies on facts. Data doesn’t lie, and letting feelings dictate actions can only lead to trouble. His parents’ divorce is a perfect example of that. Helping to run his family’s business in Mint Springs should be easy—crunch the numbers and keep his brothers in line. One wrinkle? Faith Baker. His feelings for Faith have persisted despite his promise to stay away from his brother’s best friend. And there’s no accounting for attraction like that.

When they’re both roped into trying to save the town’s run-down mill, it’s the perfect excuse to spend time together guilt-free. But that can’t last forever, and when their expectations look impossibly different, cultivating a future together just doesn’t seem to add up.

If you’re going to throw out all the rules, you’d better make it count.

Make sure you brush your teeth after reading "Make It Count" as the amount of sweetness in this story is sure to leave some cavities. Jessica Harper brings us to the farmlands of Georgia, with the most accurate description of what mornings are like in the sweltering summer heat even before the sun. In this third installment of the Allen Brothers, we are once again brought back to Mint Springs, Georgia in which Cade takes the spotlight in more ways than one. If you haven't read the prior Allen Brothers books by Jessica Harper, do. Although, if you start with Cade's story, there's just the right amount to get you easily through the plot, and a little extra left over that you'll dive right back into for more. Cade and Faith team up to save a town landmark and balancing community obligations with family, jobs, and sorting out their feelings. Harper will leave you with warm fuzzies as well as warm, fun characters.

Cade and Faith . . .

This is Faith Baker and Cade Allen’s small town romance story. The characters are likable which makes the reader happy to see them getting their chance at love, if they are willing to take it. Faith is the best friend of Cade’s brother, Charlie, who has told Cade (and warned off other guys as well) to keep his hands off her, so Cade feels like he is supposed to deny any attraction he feels for Faith. But proximity is difficult to fight against, and watching their interaction with each other is encouraging.

To reiterate once more, once adulthood is reached, friends, relatives, or busy-bodies have no say in a relationship. It’s between the two who care for each other. Will Faith and Cade give in to their desire for a relationship? Or will they let someone else tell them who they are “allowed” to love?

First time reading a book by Jessie Harper and I am glad I picked this one. The author has written a steamy romance with a brothers best friend. The two main characters Cade and Faith are perfect for each other if they can just figure it out before hurting each other. Reading about their interaction with each other is encouraging as Faith was the best friend of Charlie (who warned off other guys as well as his brother Cade) to keep their hands off of her. But proximity is difficult to fight. Does Cade listen to Charlie or does he fight for a relationship with Faith? Does he let someone else tell him who he is to love? Highly recommend reading this great small town romance as I really enjoyed it. Look forward to reading more by Ms. Harper

"Let those feelings have a little sunshine. That’s the only way to test them.”

Book four, Faith and Cade, I enjoyed this book. A twist on a my best friend's brother romance. I did not read books one through three of the series but I was still able to follow along in this book without any issues. Cade is volunteered to spend more time with Faith than he would like due to certain hidden feelings. I liked the back and forth of the two main characters perspective.

Cade and Faith each have deep feelings for each other, but have never spoken them. Faith is best friends with Charlie, Cades brother so the stay-away-from-my-best-friend was always there. Now they are grown-ups and are working on a city project together, so the feelings ignite. Loved the characters and the fact that they have a long history is great. The storyline has drama, surprises and romance that pulls you in and does not let go. Great ending and can not wait for the next book in the series.

This was a good read, not the usually best friends brother romance. Her best friend is the guys' brother, Charlie was told Cade to stay away from Faith but he can not help himself. Little does he know that Faith feels the same way about him. This leads to a lot of secret meetings and moments, when the truth comes out will they all be able to all remain friends?

I LOVED this book! Faith and Cade were such wonderful characters, as was everyone in the story. This is my first book by this author, but I will definitely be reading all the other books in the Mint Springs series as well as anything and everything else she has written and is yet to write.

Sweet romance with Cade and Faith who are very different from each other but their chemistry just works for them. He is her best friends older brother and stays away from anything to do with feelings where she is a tomboy working her family's farm when they team up to help their small town.

enjoyed!!

Super cute small town romance between childhood friends. It has a brothers best friend element. Cade and Faith are perfect for each other if they can just figure it out before hurting each other. Overall I really enjoyed.
