Ever since I started trying to be a good Christian woman and have gotten engrossed in reading/reviewing non-fiction Christian books [read my reviews]; previously, I had always enjoyed sitting down and reading a good True Crime book, and I still do. [I happen to be a TOP CONTRIBUTOR of Amazon for this genre.]
Why would an individual like myself ever want to read such a shockingly disturbing book like this? The answer is simple; I'm now more fascinated than ever by how any person, such as the 12 subjects of this book, could ever become such a heinous, cruel, vile, murderous individuals capable of going against almost every tenet of the Lord.
Like all of the True Crime authors I've read and have written reviews for in the past, M. Moore possesses a style individualistic style of writing that engages the readers. The author skillfully takes them as they delve into the stories that drove these individuals into committing their unsettling, hideous, upsetting acts of depravity against another person. The author, writing this book, decided to concentrate on a specific period of our history, the Roaring 20s. However, unlike the gangster-style murders of the likes of the notorious Al Capone, these individuals had been far more nefarious.
Through the pages of this book, Moore presents the sociological and psychological histories of the 12 perpetrators that had been the motivating force behind the commission of their murderous sinister crimes. As is usually the case with these murders of this type, we find that some of these cases have gotten solved, and others still remain unsolved.
Regardless of the end result, being the Christian woman I am, yet being an aficionado of the genre of True Crime books, I found this book to be a very captivating, engaging, page-turning reading experience, which is why I've given the author and this book 5 STARS.
True Crime Storytime Volume 1: 12 Disturbing True Crime Stories to Keep You Up All Night M. Moore, Presented by True Crime Seven E-Book Obtained: Giveaway on Librarything and asked if I could do an honest review
I found this book to be quite fascinating, it is definitely a book that people that have more morbid curiosities would really enjoy. There are 12 different cases obviously from the book title.
Some of these cases are unsolved and some of them are solved, details of each grisly murder paint a gruesome picture in your mind. I found it to be a very intriguing and page-turning work that really was able to fascinate me and suck me in.
I'm not sure exactly which story was my favorite and I'm sure that you will choose one. Though I'm not exactly sure favorite is the correct word to use for it as these are true to life murders that happened around the 1920s and 30s. I definitely plan on coming through a few more titles by these authors.
In My Opinion if you are into the macabre and morbid tales as a curiosity or just curious about past cases of murder. This is a good book to really sink your teeth into.
Names like John Wayne Gacy, Son of Sam and Ted Bundy instantly bring to mind headlines from the 1970s, long touted as the decade of the serial killer. But there were dozens of other notorious cases during the 1970s and this book recounts just some of the horrific crimes that occurred. The dozen true-crime tales – from cults to serial killers - will keep you spellbound. What struck me most, as an Aussie reader, was the failure in so many cases of quick solutions and convictions, though the evidence was there for all to see. Was it a case of poor local police work, or lack of resources both financial and feet on the ground, which led to many killers being left free to add more victims to their tally?
This was a great collection of lesser known crimes from the 1920's. As an avid true crime reader, it is becoming harder to find crime stories that I had not heard of yet. This book did not disappoint! It delves into twelve dark crimes, most of which are unknown, and gives the reader very chilling details that might even keep you up at night! ;)
Bravo on a good book and I'll be looking out for more!
I've read many books by "True Crime Seven" that are pretty good but this collection bored me. Many of the cases are well known and the shorts synopses offered here don't add anything new. Also, they all take place in the 1920's and I like to read about more current cases.
I love reading about crimes of the past, and if you do as well, then you simply have to read this book. I really enjoy reading the True Crime Seven's books. Excellent author's.
Some of these crimes wouldn't be able to happen today! Crazy how in your face criminals could be back then. The world sure has changed a ton over the last 100 years!
This was an easy to read book that had me searching for these crime stories online afterwards. It's well written and there was a lot if cases I had never heard of before
Loved the content, hated the writing style. I felt like I was reading a textbook and the details weren’t details, just facts. Just felt forced. Not my cup of tea.
