My son and I fell for the same girl. And now her life is in my hands.
I always knew Vivian was special. The strength of a lioness. Witty banter that matches mine. And a magnetic sensual beauty.
But she’s in deep with the cartel.
I won't rest until I eliminate every last threat. But one problem still remains...
How am I supposed to guard her life if all I can think about is devouring every inch of her each and every minute?
Readers note: This is an older man, younger woman, body-guard, ex boy-friend's dad, surprise regency romance. You'll need a cool glass of water because the HEAT level is HIGH. Don't say I didn't warn you!!

“How I managed to function without her up until this point in my life was beyond me. She was my everything, and now she was all mine.”
This was a good story and was well written. It didn’t have QUIET enough of a hook for me to add it to my re-read shelf but it’s absolutely still worth the read, especially if you like age-gap, forbidden romances with a hint of thriller in them. It was a fun read!
When some couples uncouple, they part with a bang, uttering words that prevent the former friends and lovers from ever having a chance of being more than each other’s most bitter memories. So unexpectedly, when Vivian Jones, the petite, intelligent, green-eyed, black-haired child of the foster-care system and Wally White, the handsome son of divorced parents stopped being a couple as they approached their senior year in college, they easily slid back to friend-mode, almost as if they had never existed as a couple. It was almost as if both Viv and Wally had been so preoccupied in the dynamics of moving towards the last year of college in Chicago that they hadn’t had the time to invest in being a couple, but had really only just existed in “friend mode” with occasional benefits.
It seemed that Vivian and her best female friend, Molly Burke, were closer as foster-care sisters, apartment mates and co-op cubical mates at Blue Cloud Financial, one of the city’s leading largest investment firms, than Vivian was close with her “boyfriend” Wally. And Wally, a brilliant student who had been headed down a pre-med track, was now feeling the need to rethink his post-college track of med school, to of all things, culinary school. And so, rather than being conscious of his drifting away from his girlfriend, he was more aware the tension that grew from his relationship with his single dad who seemed to want to micro-manage his only child’s future.
However, the lives of Vivian, and her bff and co-op mate, Molly, at Blue Cloud Financial, take a turn on the wild side. Late one Friday afternoon, as the girls get ready to closedown their review of accounts deemed “viewable” by co-op students and to begin their evening plans at a local bar, Vivian discovers the disappearance of almost $100,000 which, upon review, Molly also confirms. Molly agrees to take the girls’ discovery to their cutely adorable boss’ boss, Alistair McCloud, an older man who seemed more suited to being in a bingo hall than walking the halls as CEO of a Fortune 500 financial firm. So, while Vivian goes to the designated gathering spot to score seats at the bar for a group of friends, Molly is to show Mr. McCloud the girl’s findings.
And, when Molly doesn’t show up at the bar, Viv suspects that Molly may have changed her weekend plans without calling Viv—a “crime” that Viv was often accused of by Molly. But Molly’s absence on Monday from the co-op assignment, and the complete removal of all of Molly’s things from her cubical sends Vivian running for help. And, who better to seek help from than ex-boyfriend Wally’s dad, a beautifully fit man in his early 40’s. “Jesse” James White—a hot dad with dark hair and eyes and a man who knows what to do when confronted by trouble and a beautiful woman—is former military and currently the CEO of Pegasus Star Security. So, when Viv asks for help, she gets his help—and much more.
KC Crowne’s newest romance series provides the reader with a twisted path of love as the heroine is pulled out of her apparently “safe” world and tossed into the strong, safe arms of an older man who has already been injured at the game of love, but is tempted to play the game one more time with a woman almost 20 years his junior.

Vivian and her friend, Molly, work at Blue Cloud Financial as co-ops. Late on a Friday, ready to close out of the review of accounts they had access to, Vivian notices the disappearance of almost $100,000. Molly takes the information to the CEO, planning to meet Vivian at the bar afterward. But she never shows up. Someone began to follow Vivian, but she got away and sought help from her ex-boyfriend’s dad, Jesse White, who is the CEO of Pegasus Star Security. Now a cartel is after Vivian, trying to silence her. Jesse works to keep her safe, but Vivian insists they rescue Molly. And somehow, Jesse and Molly find the time to fall in love while dealing with this major crime and missing person!
This story was far more than I expected and well-written, filled with suspense and awesome characters. Grab your copy to see how everything plays out. You absolutely won’t be bored with this one!
Wally and Vivian realize there relationship has come to an end , so it’s no hard feelings and they agree to remain friends. When Vivian runs into trouble at work she turns to Wally but this is bigger than both of them can deal with. They enlist the help of Wally’s dad. Jesse is an owner of a security company so he’s more than qualified to help. It doesn’t hurt he’s hot as hades either. Vivian has always had a thing for older men. You can see where this is going to go. The trouble she’s in is bad and it gets pretty dangerous. But hot dad comes to the rescue. This isn’t my normal trope but it’s a great story. A must read.

This book is filled with energy, intensity and heat. I loved this book so much! It was super easy to get swept up into and once there, I was very happy to stay. Jesse and Vivian do their very best to have your temperature on the rise and to keep you firmly on the edge of your seat with their story which I felt was part steamy and swoon worthy romance and part heart rate raising thrill ride. I found it juicy and absolutely delicious. This is my objective review that I am posting of my own accord.
An Honest Heartwarming Storyline that hits home in more ways than one. Uniquely written, heart clenching and tear jerking. Definitely will make you laugh so hard you’ll cry. I’d highly recommend this book.

Quick Summary When Vivian stumbles across some dangerous information, her friend goes missing and suddenly she’s running from a ruthless cartel.
Lucky for her, she knows a guy who knows a guy.
Jesse never thought he’d find himself in this compromising situation. First rule of a security, never get personally involved with the client. Having his son’s ex-girlfriend move in with him is definitely getting personally involved but he can’t bring himself to trust anyone else watching over her.
~ My Thoughts ~ This was definitely a steamy read! Vivian and Jesse try to fight their attraction but some things are undeniable 😊
Liked both characters and the suspense of trying to find Molly gave this already engaging story that extra something to make it really entertaining. I zipped through this one because I needed to know how it all ended. It was worth the late night, haha.
Vivian and Jesse have a forbidden sort of taboo relationship since Vivian dated Jesse’ son, Wally, and that’s how they originally meet. I personally enjoy reading these taboo romances but admit I have my limits and this one was right on the edge of them.
Taking that out of the equation, Jesse and Vivian were a great couple. They not only had great chemistry but they also connected on an intellectual level so it wasn’t just about the sex for these two. They both supported and encouraged the other to be a better person and that foundation is always a nice touch in romance.
Heat Level: Definitely 5/5
Extra (Spoiler-y) Info :
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’m sick of naive heroines making stupid decisions and having their lovers risk their lives for them.
The FMC Vivian has some cartel after her cos she uncovered their big secret and gets taken under the wing of her ex’s dad who also happens to run a security business. Her best friend gets taken by the gang instead of her due to a misunderstanding. This is where the issues start.
The MC and Vivian’s security guard is Jesse her ex’s dad and our knight in shining armour. He lays down rules to protect her cos duh she’s in danger but does she listen to him? Nope. Instead she goes back to her workplace (where she uncovered the secret in the first place) against Jesse’s wishes and almost gets kidnapped. Cue the saviour: Jesse! Arriving in his Porsche 911 whatever whatever just in time. We are constantly made aware that he has a Porsche. Okay dude we get it you don’t have to rub it in 😒 And don’t worry folks she does make the trip to her office worthwhile cos now she has the evidence on a USB! Wooo. Now the sensible thing to do would be to let someone who knows wtf they’re doing know about it. Namely Jesse. But Vivian’s not known for her street smarts so she keeps it to herself.
She then receives a phone call from her missing friend telling her in literal words: IT’S A TRAP. But Vivian is an independent girly who can’t stop risking her neck. Now I wouldn’t have a problem with that, it is her life, but every time she makes a stupid decision it’s Jesse who gets hurt. Every time. For someone who claims to love him she doesn’t care much for his life.
Anyway moving on to fatal mistake number 2. She drugs the security guard on duty to protect her, which just wtf? Steals his car and risks the kid she’s pregnant with. And walks straight into a trap because she can’t do nOtHiNg while her friend is in danger. Did she think to tell her security detail about the info she got on a USB? Or about the phone call she gets? Nope. She goes in blind with no experience, no knowledge and zero backup. But does she make it out alive? Of course. Her knight comes to the rescue! She doesn’t escape unscathed cos that would be too far fetched, just like going up against a ruthless cartel blind and surviving but I digress.
Either the cartel is extremely stupid - there’s far too many brandishing knives and not a single fatal wound - orrrr hmmm can’t think of an alternative. Considering the Azure Cartel is meant to be ruthless they seem to really struggle with doing any sort of serious damage. And wtf is up with grandpa stopping them from killing? Why are they listening to him? Who is he? I swear this cartel is a joke.
It’s all very far fetched. The only saving grace is the smut hence the 2 stars. Not impressed.
Wow this was bad. I tried I really did, but it’s beyond ridiculous. Vivian works with her best friend at a finance company. As soon as the author describes her big boss I knew he was a baddie. The author might as well have put a big flashing sign above his head saying it. When Vivian uncovers a financial irregularity that obviously shows money laundering, she allows her best friend in the world to tell the bosses about it. I’ve got so many issues with this book right at the start. Vivian is a financial whizz kid, and she spots the exact same amount of money every single month going through this companies books and she doesn’t put two and two together???? It’s been happening for ages and no one in the company has flagged it. That didn’t raise alarms with either of them?? 😂😂😂 Vivian doesn’t make a copy of it and when she goes in the next day the account has been locked and passworded. WHY DIDN’T THEY DO THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE??? They know she’s a finance whizz kid and they don’t try to hide it?
Moving on. When her friend doesn’t show up at the bar they go to and doesn’t message her, Vivian isn’t worried at all. (????) They had only just made plans, why isn’t she worried? When it becomes obvious that Vivian is in danger from that account and Molly is missing, she turns to her ex who asks his dad for help. His dad who runs a security company and is amazing. Yet when he’s being attacked by three men who Jesse thinks are really inept, yet he has to be rescued by Vivian. 😂😂😡 The author actually writes the men are gnashing their teeth. WTAF AM I READING??? Jesse the next day can hardly walk as he’s been so battered by these gnashing their teeth, inept men. Just no! Jesse’s security company is so amazing that when brings his computer whizz brother into the company, his brother says that Jesse’s password is PASSWORD!! Seriously??? This man has is a self made billionaire from THIS??? His internet isn’t secure at all, and anyone could hack into it! 😂😂😡😡😡
Then there’s the ‘relationship’ between them. Yuk! It felt so weird and cringy as they’re both eyeing each other up when she was with his son. It didn’t feel right that they got together, at all! Speaking of his son, the way that Jesse treats him is awful. Wally has been slacking of his classes, and Jesse doesn’t notice till it’s pointed out to him? Great dad! Great security expert as well. Then when Wally tries to say he wants to be a chef not a doctor, Jesse won’t listen to him and refuses to even discuss it. Great dad of the year…Not!
It’s just laughable. Way too many things wrong with this book.
This book started out so promising. I loved the characters and the storyline kept me interested. Then came the phrase “pregnant pause” and I was irritated. I hate that phrase with a passion. But in all seriousness even after that it was still good. THEN came the famous scene where they have sex and then the next day they wake up and the guy says “this can’t happen again. We can’t get attached” like ummmm sir are you aware that you were balls deep in her last night and NOW you’re worried about getting “attached” 🙄 stop with that shit. After that point it was full of the back and forth crap that I hate. Then the storyline got super predictable and just wasn’t as enjoyable. I still really liked the characters but the rest fell flat for me.
This one is a silver fox bonanza! A super hot, dominant older alpha with protection skills, what a bonus! Vivian works at Blue Cloud financial with her best friend Molly. One Friday Vivian discovers a discrepancy in an account on the computer, money is missing with no indication where it went. She calls Molly over to double check what she discovered. Molly agrees that there's something wrong and that she'll bring it to the attention of their supervisor so Vivian can get to the club they were going to, to save them a table in a good location and that way she couldn't back out like she always did. She agrees and heads to the bar, but Molly never shows up and Vivian's phone is dead. As she tries to get the bartender's attention so she can borrow a phone to call Molly to see where she is, she is hit on by an obnoxious man, who won't take no for an answer. An older man over hears this and steps in to help her. Vivian realizes that she knows her helper, it's her ex boyfriend's dad, Mr. White, aka Jesse, and he's definitely a sexy silver fox. Fast forward and her friend, Molly, is still missing and isn't responding to her text messages which is so unlike her. The following Monday, Vivian arrives at work and finds Molly's desk cleared out and her bosses explaining that she got a promotion and is working in another department away from the current office. Vivian finds this strange because she and Molly share everything with each other. She quickly looks into the file on her computer that she found the discrepancy in, but now it's in an encrypted file with no access. She needs someone to discuss what's going on and to get some help so she turns to her ex boyfriend, Wally, who is still friends with her. They agree to meet up at a coffee shop. She tells him her concerns and then they run because a suspicious guy entered the shop and focused directly on her. They get into the alley and are approached by another suspicious person and the one from the coffee shop. They're trying to herd them towards a third person outside of a white nondescript van with the sliding door open. She knocks the guys out of the way by throwing her messenger bag at their heads. They escape and end up at Wally's home which is actually his father's house. She tells her tale to Jesse, Wally's father and he agrees to protect her pro bono because he owns and operates a personal security firm. Here's where I leave you; if you want to know the rest then you'll just have to get the book! Let's just say that the rest definitely heats up. You have two people attracted to each other stuck together because of circumstances. There's more thrown into the mix because there's added danger, those suspicious people after Vivian are part of a well known drug cartel. So, this is a definite must have if you love adrenaline infused romance and the heat is off the charts with this one. I highly recommend this book for ALL romance book lovers. It has strong well crafted characters and a well written, original storyline. I loved everything about this book and I'd give it more than five stars if I could!

As a reader of pretty much all of KC Crowne’s books I have to say I have never had on that has been a disappointment. They are all great stories. However, when I started reading Vivians story I was so interested to see how this love story with an older man developed and then unfolded. I have say I was hooked once again with not being able to stop reading it, page after page. Vivian is an independent woman who is free willed, strong and knows what she wants. It is inspiring to see how the character was portrayed and that she was just a young girl smitten by this older man. She has drive and determination on what she wants out of life. She recently ended a relationship she was in knowing it was was just not a good fit. They were on two different paths and wanting very different things. She deep down was has a plan for her future, and she knows how she is going to achieve it. As she is working to finish school she is work in an internship program with the hopes of securing a future position with the firm. She always puts in a lot of extra effort in her work trying to make that difference, but it might just end up leading her to a bunch of danger and trouble. Vivian goes out for drinks one night and as she is trying to get a hold of her friend, she gets help from a handsome stranger. Vivian try’s to resist the allure of this older gentleman but she is immediately attracted to him. One thing leads to another when he offers her a ride home and they end up with heat between them. There is only one big issue, this older gentleman, Jesse just happens to be her ex-boyfriends dad. Nothing awkward there, right! So they agree to chuck it up to one hot night of passion and leave it at that. Vivian’s soon finds herself in a situation where she has ascertained information about the company’ financial records. After sharing these details with her friend Molly, she ends up disappearing. Vivian finds herself turning to the only person she can think of for help, her ex-boyfriend. Will whatever this information that Vivian discovered put her life at risk? Was her friend kidnapped or worse has someone possibly killed her? Will her and Jesse work through their issues and actually get together regardless of Vivian previously dating Jesses son? The story kept me on the edge of my seat with the turn of each page. There was so much suspense trying to find out who was behind everything, was it a cartel, was her friend still alive and the big one will Vivian and Jesse actually get together? I have to say this is one of the best books yet and it is a definite must read!

My Ex Boyfriend's Dad, one of the 14 books in the Silver Fox Daddies series, was about 23-year-old Vivian Jones, an investment analyst at Blue Cloud Financial (as well as a Junior in college), and 43-year-old Jesse White, the owner of Pegasus Star Security. This was another book that I had read before but did not do a review on at the time. It's my opinion it was a good thing I didn't because I might have given it a higher rating even though it didn't deserve one. While following her normal work routine one day, Vivien accidentally uncovered some financial discrepancies with one of the company's accounts. She asked her BFF who worked there as well to double-check her findings, and they both noticed the same errors. Her BFF offered to take the file to their supervisor to talk to him about it and then meet her for drinks after work. But her friend never showed up and could not be contacted the entire weekend. The following Monday, Vivien noticed not only was her friend not at work, but her desk had been cleared out. After talking with her supervisor, Vivien realized something was very wrong and she needed to leave work fast. When she met up with and told her ex-boyfriend, Wally (Walter), what was going on, he laughed at her...until someone came to take her away. After being chased by the goons, Wally took her to his father, Jesse, and the bodyguarding began, as did the intimate relationship between the two main characters. Like the previous book (this was a sequel to "Daddy's Law"), this story was full of angst, drama, intrigue, and heartache. Once again, the MMC kept doing the push/pull with the FMC, all because of hurts from a past relationship. The emotional rollercoaster was OTT and not all necessary. It was overly long, full of fluff, and repetitive. The FMC was, again, more mature than the MMC, and she had a level head on her shoulders. There were times she slipped in character and became a bit clueless, but those were few and far between. The MMC, on the other hand, was closed off and a bit stunted, especially for a man his age. He allowed one bad relationship to taint his entire life...and the problems had been, for the most part, his own, and he was about to repeat those mistakes with the FMC. While there were many spicy scenes, they were detracted from because of the wishy-washy attitude of the MMC. I couldn't give this story more than a three-star rating.
Vivian is a 23 year old student and Jesse is a 43 year old workaholic but then his priorities start changing when he becomes Vivian's bodyguard (of sorts). The fact that she's his son's ex-girlfriend is pretty much glossed over most of the time, and didn't really even need to be in the book at all IMO. It would've read almost the exact same way if Wally was Jesse's nephew or something instead of Jesse's son.
A couple of things that bugged me about the story: (1) in the beginning, the FMC Vivian didn't think her friend Molly was in trouble when Molly just disappeared after work when they had plans to get together. Molly was kidnapped by the cartel and Vivian didn't notice for days... that's a pretty shitty friend move. (2) AND then Vivian risks her life to go back into the office to get the encrypted computer files so the police have proof of the company's wrongdoing, but then Vivian just sits on the proof - not telling anyone, not trying to figure out how to decrypt it - for like WEEKS after that.... uhhh whaaa?? No satisfactory explanation was ever provided for why she didn't do anything with it for so long; in fact, the time in between (where she was just waiting) was skipped over in like a quick time jump, so why was it there at all? It should've been like "and so, the next day..." NOT "and so, six weeks later..." Right??!?
The rest of the story also just left something to be desired. I'm thinking it's just not meant to be realistic because it's more focused on the smut than anything else. Vivian and Jesse get together pretty quickly, they bang a few times, something inevitably happens where either she's in danger or he's pushing her away, and then they keep their distance for awhile, but they of course go back to banging... towards the end, she finds out she's pregnant, a lot happens really quickly and then there's an HEA. Overall the book was okay... but just like a little unsatisfying..?

I devoured this new older man/younger woman book by K C Crowne with main characters Jesse, the owner of Pegasus Security Company and Vivian, an intern for an investment company along with her friend Molly. When Vivien discovers a discrepancy of over $100,000 in the accounting for Azuras Company with ties to the mafia, she decides to take it to her supervisor. When Molly persuades Vivian to go out to a bar that night, she also offers to present the accounting discrepancy for Vivian and winds up as a no show at the bar that night and goes missing. Vivian runs into Jesse, the handsome, hunky father of her ex-boyfriend and the two have an attraction for each other. While I admit I love a good older man/younger woman romance this storyline has all that as well as a thriller when Vivian’s accounting error find puts her life in jeopardy. I couldn’t put the book down as I was intrigued with the sassy, saucy Vivian and the illusive Jesse, who does everything he can to resist a romance with the woman half his age, and one that would surely ruin his relationship with his son, Wally. Her headstrong resistance to Jesse’s need to protect her and forbidding her to investigate her friend’s disappearance on her own, but the more she needs his protection, the more attracted he is to her as he succumbs to her charms, and he is forced to reject her romantically. When Vivian is kidnapped, Jesse puts his life on the line for this young woman and his relationship with Wally further erodes. Crowne, the author doesn’t waste a word on frivolous drivel, instead building the relationship between Jesse and Vivian and leaving me rooting for this unlikely couple and intrigued by the storyline. I cannot wait to read more of KC Crowne’s writing.

This is my first time reading K.C. Crowne and I really enjoyed the writing. The flow of the book was smooth. I enjoyed learning about this group of characters and how they navigated this intense, dangerous, and uncertain time in their lives. I loved reading about how Vivian threw Jesse off his game. He was so in control of his life, feelings, and business until Vivian re-entered his life and things weren’t so black and white anymore. I wish we could’ve learned more about Vivian’s past. It’s obviously a huge part of the person she’s become today that it would’ve been nice to get details instead of hints here and there. I also would have liked to read more about Jesse and Vivian actually getting to know each other. It seemed their relationship was 90% lust. I wanted to read the convo between the two about Jesse’s ex-wife and Vivian’s upbringing, each learning more about the other and how their life experiences have made them who they are today. I have to say I almost stopped reading this book when Vivian went to the restaurant. She’s a smart woman but she seriously pissed me off every time she’d sneak off from Jesse, and when she snuck off from Lance that took the cake for me and I seriously considered not reading any further. Like why are you being so freaking stupid?!?? She said she understood that this was serious and not a game, yet she continued evading security! Like do you really understand because your actions say you don’t. But alas I pressed on because as I mentioned the writing was good and the story was entertaining. Everything worked out in the end though.

This book brings us Jesse and Vivian. Vivian works for a company called Blue Cloud FInancial as an intern, along with her best friend Molly. One day, Vivian finds some discrepancies with financial records and shows them to Molly. Molly says she will bring this to the CEO's attention, which she does, and then disappears. Vivian is waiting at a bar for Molly and meets Jesse, and is intrigued by him. He offers her a ride home, and neither can forget the emotions they felt, however, Jesse is alot older than Vivian. She is very concerned, so she calls her ex-boyfriend Wally, whom she remains friends. At first, Wally thinks she is crazy until they are followed and almost captures. Wally takes her to his father's home for safety, and his father happens to be Jesse. Jesse offers Vivian protection and says she can stay with them. Jesse and Wally do not have the best of relationship, as Wally wants to go to culinary school, and Jesse wants him to go to medical school. This makes Wally angry and he moves out, leaving Jesse and Vivian together. As hard as they try, they finally succumb to their feelings. Jesse pleads with Vivian to do everything he says, but she is very determined to find Molly. She endangers herself, and Jesse is furious, but also very worried. This is when Vivian finds out she is pregnant, but worries that Jesse won't want anything to do with the baby. I liked how strong Vivian was and Jesse, oh my word, swoon! This was a fantastic read and I highly recommend it. I did receive an arc for an honest review.
Viv discovered something she wasn't supposed to at work and asked her best friend Molly to double check her findings. That's all it took to change their lives forever. Molly's now missing, and the cartel is after Viv. Luckily, when she ended things with Wally they stayed close and his father is a certifiable ba das s . He takes on the protection of Viv, but she's a spitfire and doesn't exactly follow the rules. And for someone as dominant as Jesse, that's an issue. He may be the father of her ex, and twenty years older, but his attraction to her burns hotter than anything, ever. So he uses creative ways to get his point across. He has been burned by love before, but this time, she just might be what he needs. They have no idea whats coming for them. The news she gets after Jesse assigns her to a different guard, the issue of Wally finding out...things are about to get really intense.
The family dynamics of Jesse and Wally may break your heart. Jesse just wants what he thinks is best for Wally, but forgets to stop and ask what Wally wants in life. Viv's backstory could have been fleshed out some more, but was enough detail that you get the idea. The steam was next level hot, crossing over into spicy at times. The character growth of Jesse was great, and the repair to relationships was good. Only a couple of typos.
Everything about this book is perfection. I loved it from start to finish and couldn’t have been happier with the ending to this book. KC bring the heat and suspense as well as all the feels in the amazing romance!!
Vivian finds herself in trouble when she’s discovers an error at work and then her best friend/coworker goes missing. She turns to her ex boyfriend for help and he enlists the hope of his dad, Jesse, and owner of a personal security company.
Jesse is alpha male perfection! He’s older and well trained, but isn’t prepared for the way that Vivian makes him feel. He struggles to keep it professional and their story really heats up!! When her life is in danger, Jesse will throw caution to the wind to get his woman back.
I loved everything about their story. It will give you all the feels! The suspense is intense and Vivian is in more danger than she realizes. The added complication of her ex boyfriend brings an element of heartbreak. I loved how romantic and devoted Jesse was to Vivian. Everything about their interactions will make your heart swoon. I especially find the sweet nothings whispered against lips make me melt and KC writes these the best!!

At first I wasn't sure I could like it as much as the last book. Yep. I was wrong. I felt bad for Vivian when she got dumped. Then the story reveals she is a super numbers guru. Well she was just an intern supposed to be checking things over after entering. Thing is, she was no one's dummy. She found huge discrepancies. (To me, why would you give something like that to an intern?) Her friend Molly takes it to their boss while she goes and secures their bar table. She meets Jesse using his phone. Sadly, Molly disappears. But in her place are these scary men trying to get to Vivian. Jesse had gone home but his son got a call for help. Jesse went and retrieved her and put her up in his penthouse. This story scared me more than the mob. I think one group you piss off less than the mob, cartels. I was shaking in parts for Vivian. I was sorry it took so long for Jesse to really see his son. They missed alot of good time together. I was thrilled for the relationship that developed between Jesse and Vivian. They both desperately deserved it. It was an amazingly erotic love story. You should totally READ it! I highly recommend it! Vivian is a little minx. ANOTHER 10/10+
This book offers a fascinating romance as well as a great deal of action and captivating suspense. The two main characters are vivid, intriguing and impossible not to love. What not to love about a hot, growly and protective hero who knows what he is doing in and out of bed?Jesse does not disappoint. After Vivian, his son’s ex, and her friend Molly get into trouble with the cartel, Jesse is determined to use all his skills as a security expert to keep her safe. Vivian is a beautiful firecracker and sometimes her own worst enemy. She manages to slip past Jesse protective measures in order to try to find Molly who has disappeared. Jesse is having none of that nonsense. Protective custody soon leads to trying to fight their attraction to each other, but it soon proves to be impossible. Hot, passionate encounters ensue. Of course this is the source of conflicting emotions, as well stress and strain between father and son. Could this unexpected connection between Jesse and Vivian really lead to something lasting?

This was cute and surprisingly suspenseful. It did suffer from idiot female lead syndrome (okay, I just made that up). But if it were a real thing, it would be when the female MC does something she knows is stupid, is told is stupid, and does it anyhow with a "my bad" after it. And in this case, she does it TWICE. lol Look, I liked Vivian, but there's only so much shaking of my head one can do during the reading of a book.
Oh, and then there's the whole, she's my son's ex-girlfriend thing. They never really went into how intimate Wally and Vivian got with their relationship. The whole thing was just uncomfortable for me to think about because of the father/son thing. That's nothing on Vivian. I totally get why she fell for Jesse, and in Wally's defense, he's a really sweet kid. It was just obvious he and Vivian weren't meant to be. I did like the fact that it explored Jesse and Wally's rocky relationship and how Jesse really did prioritize that relationship over his own happiness. I think with Wally's end outcome, that was the best thing for everyone. The trio got everything they wanted, and it was such a cute HEA.
So it was very, very tempting to label Vivian as just another TSTL heroine, but when I thought about it, she kind of didn’t have a choice because Jesse was utterly USELESS.
Like in the early fights, Vivian ends up needing to save him, and while I guess he does an okay job of protecting her, no where does he actually try to solve the root of her problem.
She also tells him where they can get evidence and he tells her it’s stupid to go get it. Sure, okay, that makes sense. But *he* should have gone to get it if he wanted to keep her safe. But no, he literally just locks her away in the penthouse and carries on like normal. He never actually tries to solve her problem, so yeah, what else was Vivian supposed to do?!
Jesse’s character development also felt really shallow. I didn’t find his reconciliation with Wally to be believable at all, and in general i don’t feel like he really had any true remorse about his actions. Unfortunately he was the worst part of this book.
The smut was alright, three or four open door scenes with some spanking, little bit of praise kink—nothing crazy.
Vivian works at Blue Cloud Financials and stumbles across some files pointing to money laundering activities. Her friend Molly volunteers to tell their supervisor and goes missing. Jesse, the owner of Pegasus Star Security, encounters Vivian at a bar waiting for her friend who doesn’t show up, he offers to take her home, realizing she’s his son’s former girlfriend. From there on out the plot thickens; a cartel is after Vivian, trying to silence her and to retried the incriminating files in her possession. Jesse tries everything to keep her safe, but strong-willed Vivian intends to save Molly at all costs, thus bringing herself into one quagmire after another. Spending so much time together they fall for each other head over heels, both fighting their feelings at the beginning … I loved this book, it’s fast paced on the crime plot, super hot on the love scenes; all in all, I’d say the perfect mix to spend a splendid time with this book’s characters!

In this book we meet Vivian Jones & James "Jesse" White. Vivian is a numbers girl and has gotten lucky enough to get a job while finishing her degree at Blue Cloud. She couldn't be happier to be doing exactly what she wants with her friend by her side. She knows that her friend has dreams of modeling when she gets her degree to appease her parents but Vivian couldn't be happy to have her. One Friday night before she finishes for the day she is working on a project for her boss when she notices some irregularities in the numbers. She tells her best friend who says she will take it to the boss so Vivian can get to the bar. She knows if she doesn't tell the boss Vivian will never leave the office and miss out on another Friday night. So she goes to the bar but her best friend never shows and she starts to get worried. When her ex's dad comes to her rescue from a guys who just won't take no for an answer she can't believe it. Jesse is just hanging out with friends in the bar that Friday and when they get a call from the babysitter saying they need to come home they leave. He goes to pay the tab and notices a very attractive woman being hit on but saying no. After saving her he offers to take her home. With just one look he knows her place isn't safe. When he finds her in his home coming out of the spare bedroom he wants to know why. What he learn has him even more protective of this woman. Can these two find a HEA or will there just be to much between them to have it?
Another hit out of the park. This story not only draws you into the main characters but the sub ones as well. You really want to know where she will go next with this story. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
