MASHLE: Magic and Muscles is a Shonen Jump manga that follows the story of Mash Burnedead, a magicless protagonist in a world full of magic. The manga is a comedy with a vibe akin to a mashup of One Punch Man and Harry Potter.

Mash Burnedead continues to impress his classmates with his physical prowess and determination. The volume introduces new characters and challenges, including a tournament arc that showcases Mash's strength and resilience.

MASHLE: Magic and Muscles is a hilarious and action-packed manga that is sure to delight fans of shonen manga. The series features a lovable cast of characters, epic battles, and plenty of humor. If you're looking for fun and entertaining read, MASHLE is worth checking out!

I was quite pleased by this third volume. The series is starting to come into it's own as it moves further from the away from it's tropey premise. I like the suspenseful dark angle the story is taking. The plot works because the author managed to get me invested in the characters in a short number of chapters. I look forward to seeing what comes next.

This volume wasn’t as strong as volume 1 and 2 but it was still fun. I’m loving that we’re seeing an expansion of the world and getting to know other students. Clearly our main characters are the underdogs, but they definitely hold their own against these older and more powerful students. There was an introduction of a newer character that may be similar to mash and I’m excited to see where that reveal leads.

This series "Slytherin House" is called Lang and the students there are out to get all of the coins that the other houses have collected. There is an inner circle of these Lang students called Magia Lupus (death eaters) and they have a ranking system for each other. They are the Fang's of Magia Lupus and the while Mash and the other Adler students have fought some of the Fangs, the Sixth and Seventh show up in this volume for some of the toughest fighting yet.

This series is ramping up, but keeps it's sense of humor. The threats are becoming more defined and the stakes are becoming clearer. It's the sort of story and plot development you'd hope for so this didn't become a one-trick pony. I'm still completely invested and glad I found this.

The story is really settling down into battle manga tropes with our reluctantly pulled together group of friends facing off in separate bouts against an evil and ruthless group of students from another dorm over ownership of a gold coin that acts as a point in the system of student rankings. Blah blah blah. I'll give it another volume of two to wrap up this arc, but my interest in the series is waning.

The art in the action scenes redeems this volume - some of the full page spreads are jaw dropping. And the moments where the characters are just dumb is funny. But it's hard to get excited by the conveyor belt Rule Of Escalating Threat and the Harry Potter parody is wearing a bit thin.

**Thanks to the artist, publisher, and NetGalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

"𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙩𝙝 𝙙𝙚𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪!"

This manga series finally started to make its own path by diverting from the concepts of HP. That's a good thing but it has a long way to go.

Mash takes on the devious Lang house with his Adler buddies, while learning how much the owl population truly dislikes him. Then the Magia Lupus make their move and one of them is cut from the exact same cloth as Mash himself…

The return of Mash means the usual hi-jinx ensue and, as always, the story leans hard into its excessive tomfoolery in a way that is both its strength and detriment, possibly falling more to the latter as the series wears on.

The way the personalities of these goofs is quite thoroughly established is quite good, even if they have basically one trait apiece. It mostly works because these traits are amped up to a ridiculous degree and then further beyond that.

There’s a running set of bonus strips about transmogrification that illustrate this almost as well as the main story. I can assure you right now that this is one of the best sister complexes ever because of how utterly mad it is (you earn those extra trillion points, Lance).

Finn is a totally codependent wimp (the running joke of him basically shrieking in every scene is a winner), Lemon has an incredibly filthy mind that makes her assume the worst in literally every situation, and Dot still thinks that this is his series and really, really hates pretty boys. That one enemy Dot faces with the fan club doesn’t stand a chance.

The bad guys they come up against are a nice mix of the sinister and the ludicrous. The shark guy and the one idiot who sounds like every dumbass who has just discovered philosophy and thinks every phrase coming out of his mouth is a bit of true wisdom are personal highlights (the latter is absolutely the funniest thing in the book).

The crew get into fights, attempt to fight back against the growing evil running rampant in the school, and generally clown around. I particularly love when Lance and Mash have a strategy meeting while Mash is baking cream puffs.

The flip side is that if you asked me what happened in this book and in what order, I could barely tell you. It’s not that it isn’t fun, but it just doesn’t matter. It’s the danger in a book like this.

If you don’t balance your joke to story ratio carefully, you’re going to take any heft out of the story and Mashle leans so far over to being a comedy that the story largely blurs into a series of corridors at a certain point, punctuated by admittedly well-done battle scenes.

While it certainly remains very fun, it’s not quite as hysterical as the previous chapters - there’s nothing more clever than lining up the next fight for Mash and company to show off at. I did appreciate that the side characters got some wins in here and there.

It’s still very good, but I think it’s moving the series into more of a comfort food read for me. Which is fine, I love comfort food, but it isn’t quite hitting its highs, even as it promises even more ludicrous opponents to come.

And hey, I almost want to give it a higher ranking for the last couple pages, which are hilarious even though I guessed the gag as it was happening.

3 stars, probably 3.5. I enjoyed my time with this, but it’s not quite where it was and it’s settling down into a familiar groove that marks it as something I’m happy to read, but not necessarily a highlight of my reading list.

3.5⭐ do pewnym absurdów w tej mandze trzeba się po prostu przyzwyczaić i nie zwracać na nie uwagi. Ta historia ma dostarczyć czystej rozrywki i nic więcej. I to jej nawet wychodzi. Ten tomik nawet mi się podobał i byłem ciekawy co tam się jeszcze wydarzy. Zakończenie było bardzo interesujące i w sumie jeszcze się sobie dziwię, dlaczego nie sięgnąłem po czwartą część.

OMG! The pot to mice magic trick was a hoot!! Some of the jokes landed so well. I welcome the added action. I'm liking the new characters, so I'm excited for more. I was worried it was going to dip, but I'm still having fun. 3.8/5

The series is slowly moving away so many gags (while still having humor) as the manga gets more comfortable with taking itself and it’s setting/world a little bit seriously! Mash is still easily the best part of the series, as the world is still very much a HP rip-off.

Je trouve que l'histoire évolue plutôt bien, devient plus intéressante tout en conservant l'humour
Mais les dessins sont je trouve trop simplistes pour que l action et les combats soient lisibles

This was another great volume, we have Mash and co going up against the Magia Lupus, langs elite and like there are 7 people here and each of them battle mash but are defeated. But the Adler dorm members are getting sick and so its upto Mash, Lance, Finn and Daut to battle these people and rescue their friend Lemon and also put an end to the reign of these elite beings. The battle between Lance and Wirth was good and showcased how both are similar and was a decent fight but the fight between the masked guy or so it seems and Mash was fun but when she reveals her true motives, it makes so much sense and makes her an intriguing character. I like how this book is now exploring the other people on the Adler dorm and making this world feel more surreal and intriguing, plus Mash obsession with Cream Puffs reaches another level here lol.

I continue to enjoy Mash and his group of friends as they continue their adventures at magic school. We start to see some of the goals of other parts of the school, and how that directly affects Mash and the crew at large. Our rag tag bunch has to do their best to collect more coins, and I can't wait to see how things turn out for them.
