'I'm a massive fan of these two blokes. They cut through the jargon to help anyone switch from being a saver to an investor. Saving to invest is how real wealth is built.' --David Koch, TV presenter
'I wish I'd read this book 15 years ago! A perfect start for any beginner who is thinking about investing. It's a must-read for anyone who's scared of the stock market, like I was.' --Usman Khawaja, Test cricketer
An interesting book taking you through the basics of investing and how you can begin your journey learning about the investing world. The structure of explanations, excerpts from Experts, contributions from their community was a good way of showing differing opinions and inputs. It does a good job of breaking down what can be seen as confusing initially and the importance of starting early and time in market over timing the market. Good one to refresh the knowledge for myself, I did a lot of this reading during COVID when i had more time so felt i knew a fair bit of it but also good to have the reminders of getting back into it. I think this opened my eyes a bit into diversifying in the sense of looking into other stocks that I like, rather than what my strategy would be of ETF ETF ETF. The long term nature of what you should be holding to is again another good reminder, I think it sparked some interest into getting back into investing after buying our first home, and has springboarded into reading other finance related books.
This book was super alright! Quite adequate! Rather satisfactory! Definitely worth a read in my opinion, and I’m glad I read it. It adds to the knowledge I am trying to build in this area, and definitely wasn’t afraid to give advice or opinions, which I appreciate. But also, it focuses really heavily on individual stock picking, which I’m surprised about. Feels a bit irresponsible to me, considering that’s been proven to be a bad investment strategy especially for people who are new to investing. But I still got a lot of value from the sections on managed funds, ETFs, LICs and so on. And some really good quotes and insights from lots of people in the industry. So overall about 3/5 for me.
Great book if you're someone looking to start investing for the very first time. Being a new release, it has very recent/relevant examples (Shows good examples of current stocks, graphs relating to the Covid-19 dip and the market's bounce back etc.)
If you're someone who's already in the market, you're likely going to know most of what's discussed in this book. This is more for complete novices. That said, it still has great reminders for everyone that focus on the fundamentals of investing.
A brilliant book by the two lads at Equity Mates. Long time podcast listener. This book really sums up all the lessons learned and turns it into a really simple summary of how the stock market works and how to get started investing. Honestly, one of the easiest to read books I’ve ever read. If you’ve ever had an interest in investing but have been too scared to start - Get Started Investing. Get Started Investing is an excellent resource for anyone looking to begin their journey into the world of investing. Alec and Bryce give practical tips, clear explanations, and engaging insights throughout. I really liked how the book shows diverse perspectives on investing, from professional fund managers to everyday people within the EquityMates community.
The book makes complex topics accessible and relatable, which is especially helpful for beginners.
Alec and Bryce are legends in the investing space here in Australia.
Easy to read book and well written, engaging. Just extremely basic. I’ve bought a couple of shares before but don’t fully understand the stock market. But this book is more for people who have never invested anything and don’t even know the basics. I guess the title should have told me this, but reading the contents I thought they were going to go deeper into some of the topics that I’ve heard of but don’t fully understand. I still enjoyed reading it though
It is an good book for beginners looking to delve into the world of the stock market. With its motivational tone and clear explanations, it serves as an excellent primer for anyone interested in investing. The book navigates the complexities of the stock market, providing readers with a comprehensive understanding of its mechanisms, risks, and benefits. It is easy to read and understand. Thanks to the authors.
Great book for someone that is just getting started with investing. They explain everything really well, right down to the basics. As someone that read this book with some knowledge about investing in shares already, I learnt some things that I didn't know before! Definitely going to check out their podcast now.
Excellent read. Packs a lot of information without over complication. Highly recommended for anyone just starting to learn about investing and feeling a bit overwhelmed about the whole idea of it. It provides readers a very non-intimidating approach to introducing new concepts, terminologies and case studies. It’s a great place to start.
Whilst this book is very much for the beginner investor, I found that it was very well written and had some wonderful insights from some brilliant investors. I’ve been listening to Equity mates for a few years now and it is very pleasing to see Bryce and Ren doing so well!
As the title suggests, this book is intended for people who are beginners and looking to start an investing journey. This book covers some of the fundamentals and makes it easy to get started without talking about information like financial ratios, P/E etc.
It was interesting at first. And they explained in such a simple way for those looking into investing in shares etc but for me it got boring half way through maybe just not interested at it towards the end.
This book is written with a particular audience in mind - absolute beginners - so I am definitely the target audience. I came out of this book knowing the principles and a lot more about global markets.
Great book! Took a topic I always thought was too technical to understand and made it simple with real world examples, useful tips, and lots of diagrams. Every question I had while reading was answered as soon as I flipped the page. Should’ve read it sooner. Well done Alec and Bryce!
Oh boy, this shows me that I'm not cut out for the stock market. Easy to read - but I still don't feel like it would be easy to invest...must be why I'm still working...
This is the perfect book for all things investing for beginners! It makes difficult investing concepts super easy to understand, a great starting point!
A perfect book for beginners who want an easy to read and easy to understand introduction to shares and generating wealth. If you're not a beginner I'd avoid this book and start investing instead.
Really simple, practical and entertaining. Lots of real world examples and other peoples perspectives. Made investing seem a lot less intimidating and easy. Also recommend the podcast.
