I've been called all these things by the members of the two wolf packs who rule my world because I'm an oddity- a pure blood human. As a child, only the leader of the Thieves Guild was willing to take me in after my grandmother died, and I've spent my entire life using the skills he taught to become his most reliable thief.
When the wolf packs discover that their bloodlines are losing the ability to shift from wolf to human, I suddenly become a prize worth fighting over. The only problem is I'm cursed. No one can touch me unless I want them to. If they try, the strange spell surrounding me begins to leech their life-force, killing them if they don't release their hold. What I once viewed as an affliction is now my greatest weapon.
Now, the two warring kingdoms need me to preserve their humanity, and I have two alphas vying for the right to call me his queen.
Damon, the king of the midnight pack who rule the day as humans and shift into their wolf forms at nightfall, is known to be ruthless, cruel, and selfish, but if he truly wants me to rule by his side, he'll have to show me that he's more than just a tyrant.
Simon, the king of the dawn pack who rule the night as humans and shift into wolves at the breaking of dawn, is charming to the point of distraction, but behind those bright blue eyes and easy grin lurks a secret that might just undo us all.
Each man may want to claim me as his, but they’ll have to try and win my heart first.
Once upon a time, a little girl was born on a cold winter morning in the heart of Seoul, Korea. She was brought to America by her parents and raised in the Deep South where the words ma'am and y'all became an integrated part of her lexicon. She wrote her first novel at the age of eight and continued writing on and off during her teenage years. In college she studied biology and chemistry and finally combined the two by earning a master's degree in biochemistry. After that she moved to Yankee land where she lived for four years working in a laboratory at Cornell University. Homesickness and snow aversion forced her back South where she lives in the land which spawned Elvis Presley, Oprah Winfrey, John Grisham and B.B. King. After finding her Prince Charming, she gave birth to a wondrous gift named Caylin and they all lived happily ever after.
The second book to the Harvester of Light trilogy will be available for purchase no later than December 2012.
Kinda torn in this one. Still stuck in a reading slump. Nothing is knocking my socks off. This was better than the last few over read.
Storyline is fresh. Ivy has some interesting issues. Damon is confusing and a sexual tease which for this reader is annoying. Option 2, Simon is just a straight selfish ass. Thus leading to my 4ish stars.
Due to the storyline and characters potential…. Book 2 is a yes.
After reading several of the other (5 star) reviews today, I realize I'm probably too old for this book. I enjoy S.J. West and have read a whole lot of her books. She's one of the few authors I actually subscribe to on Amazon so that I know when she releases a new book. This fell flat for me. It was just really silly and the relationship (no spoilers from me) developed way too fast. That said, I'm 45 years old and I'm probably not the intended audience. Although I didn't feel that way with all the other books of hers that I've read. I'll probably continue the series to see how it all ends, but I'm less than eager. I even took a break from reading it on the second day so I could read another book that I had been given an advance copy of. I finished that one in two days and then kind of begrudgingly went back to Untouchable. Both are book 1 in a series and leaving me waiting for the next installment..., but only one has me excited for book 2.
Wow! This is my second book by West and I went in still not knowing what to expect and being pleasantly surprised. I couldn't put this down once I started and stayed up til the wee hours of the morning because I was so immersed in the story. There were a couple of things that bothered me with the way some things played out but it could be said to be because men are men and like doing things in a difficult and harder way for the same result. However, it was not that big of a bother to ruin the enjoyment. The other BIG thing is...., I NEED the next book!!! I don't like reading an unfinished series because the ending of one book while waiting for the next and then final books are TORTURE. I am invested now and will ride this one out til the end. I adore Ivy and West had me guessing who the romance was going to be with and even had me doubting through, that is til almost the very end. I have so many questions and can't wait for the next book so I can get some answers.
This book was definitely not the best of S.J. West. It seems underdeveloped. There was a lot missing to make the romance of the main characters seems whole. Damon is confusing & his relationship with Ivy gets downright weird in some situations. Ivy is supposed to be a strong female lead, but she is okay with being tied with a collar and sleeping on a bench??? Also for someone who has never been touched by a man before their intimacy is just confusing, I mean she literally should know nothing about being intimate with a man, but seems totally natural for her in the book. There was so much more potential with the storyline, character and world building in this book that just wasn’t hit.
What a unique twist and awesome story! Its definitely very different from other shifter stories and i LOVE it! I was intrigued from start to finish! Its not something you see often and im so down! i also have so many questions!!!😭 im still wondering how this “curse” works. I love the chemistry our main leads have and at times i was also frustrated because i didn’t understand Damon (main male character)until the very end!! he revealed his true plan and thats when i forgave him and loved him 💯!! 😅 So freaking good! Cant wait for the next book!
I have got to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can't wait to see what Damon does next. IVY is a badass... she is the only pure-bred human out of all the land with wolf shifters that divide there time 50/50 with their animal side but at different times. SO the town of Midnight are human during the day and the town of Dawn through the night of course to throw everything off you have the pirates that are a mixture (the best of both worlds) The Kings believe Ivy will be the salvation of their species as of late babies have been born as pups and can't shift.
This is the first book in a new series, and it sucked me in from Page 1!
I'm a fan of anything written by SJ West!!
This book is a bit different and extremely addicting!
Ivy is the main female character who just can't catch a break, she gets thrown into one situation after another... this book will keep you on your toes, I can't wait to see what comes next!!
This book feels very different than any prior SJ West books. I still definitely loved it and read it in a single day, though. Ivy is the only human in a fully shifter post apocalypse world while also having a curse that kills people who touch her. Obviously, there’s a lot going on in this story but SJ West makes it all work. I look forward to seeing where the story goes in the next book.
Ms. West! you have knocked the ball out of the park, down the road and into another town with this series!! Yes, I've said it before - but - this is different. This series turns the world of wolf-shifters on its ear! A whole different take on the subject, slightly dystopian without getting outlandish and unbelieveable.
This series belongs in it's very on category/genre/area! It's just that good!! #TeamDamon!
Original and intriguing!!! 😍 Sandy you just blew my mind with this fantastic world you have created for this new series!!! 💕 The whole concept is amazing and the characters, awesome, love Ivy so much!!! 🥰 Still debating about the males, Damon is a strong love interest but he did things I'm not happy about 😑😒 Can't wait to know what the next books will bring us, so excited to read the rest of this series!!! ❤
DNF - quit at 45% I just really didn’t like the characters & could not see any “love” developing between the characters. They really came across as flat. Also, the story felt a bit Y/A and had a bit of jags in the flow.
At my age (60), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.
I like the storyline, this is a slow, slow burn romance. Nothing but story at this point. Three men vying for one women who is remarkably okay with being passed around for the souls purpose of getting pregnant. She seems to understand their plight and takes it rather well. I don't think I would be so willing under the same circumstances. We'll see where book two leads us and if any hot steam rises out of the ashes of passion.
Highly addictive story about a girl who has never known the love or touch of anyone but her father and the lengths that people will go to to obtain that which is different. Ivy is the only human in a realm of wolves who are slaves to the beast for half of their day without choice. Such a great start to this world. Can’t wait for more!!!
I love Ivy ! She's.snarky & full of piss and vinegar. Fate couldn't have picked a better person to be the savior to the shifters. However, Damon is too trusting & someone betrays him. Not sure what he expected since the guy lost the competition. He was stupid to hold the competition because he was.falling in love with Ivy since the day they met.
This is an interesting story. Ivy with the poisoned skin can kill anyone who touches her. Damon the good king and Simon the bad. It's a little odd living in Midnight or the other kingdom. One group is awake during the day and one at night. Odd. The storyline itself has merit.
To a new series! I am loving this world already! I really like the concept and the world building. I also really like the characters. A head strong leading lady, and some mysterious men. That cliffhanger too! I can’t wait for the next book!
Really impressed by SJ West’s new book! Lots of unexpected twists and turns, and very well written. Ivy is strong and bold and I love her character. The adventure will keep you turning the page to see what happens next!
This is a great start to a new series! I loved the characters (like always!) And the world building was phenomenal. I cannot wait to see what book two will bring us. I'm so ready to read it already after that ending!
Another amazing start to a new series by SJ West. It had great world building and sucked me into it from the very first page. I can't wait to see were Sandy takes us as the series continues.
As usual another awesome story by SJ West!! It’s different than what she usually writes, but it’s spot on I’m already in love with the main characters and I can’t wait for book 2!!!
3.5 I'm torn about this book. On the one hand I liked its uniqueness regarding wolves, but I do not care for any book based on referring to women as "breeders" or hinting at possible rape. If that's the direction of this series, then I'm not interested in reading more.
I have enjoyed this book and would recommend it to all ages. I don't tell what is in the books I read. That's for you to read and find out. I do hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed it.
Very interesting story. Quite an unusual plot. Only read it if you're willing to commit to reading the rest of the series. Huge cliffhanger at the end. However, that being said, it is a really good storu.
Well this is a good introduction to the story, I love the whole triangle/square direction that is forming, a really good concept and storyline that gives the characters plenty of scope for growth. I look forward to reading the rest of the saga.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters made me smile and I enjoyed the way the plot developed. Definitely adding book 2 and 3 to my wish list
Amazing first book in the series. It had me from the very beginning. So intriguing and the ending well just leaves you wanting the next book now. I can’t wait for more.
Great start to the book! Love Ivy and her mouth, it makes me laugh. Damon, he was a wonder but you do see the good in him. Cannot wait to read what happens next!
