Brooks University #2

Forget Me, Sloane

Rate this book
Five. That’s how old I was when I picked up a ball for the very first time during flag football—something my mom had signed me up for.

Nine. That’s when I decided I’d stop at nothing until I played football at the highest level.

Fifteen. That’s when my father informed me that the only future I had was working at his private investigation firm.

Seventeen. That’s when I tried to escape the future that had been laid out for me. Tried to cut all ties that connected me to my own blood. Spoiler alert: It didn’t work. They still own me.

Eighteen. That’s when I was told if I completed this one job, I’d be cut loose. Free. I’d finally be free. It seemed easy enough.

Then, I meet her. You know, the one who makes you do all kinds of stupid, wacky stuff because you feel things you’ve never felt before. Yeah … that’s the one.

Here’s the real kicker: What happens when the girl you’ve likely already fallen in love with is the one you need to betray in order to leave behind a life you can’t stand?

Well, that’s a damn good question. I’m dying to know myself.

Hannah Gray spends her days in vacationland, living in a small, quaint town on the coast of Maine. She is an avid reader of contemporary romance and is always in competition with herself to read more books every year.

During the day, she loves on her three perfect-to-her daughters and tries to be the best mom she can be. But once she tucks them in at night--okay, scratch that. Once they fall asleep next to her in her bed--because their bedrooms apparently have monsters in them--she dives into her own fantasy world, staying awake well into the late-night hours, typing away stories about her characters. As much as she loves being a wife and mom--and she certainly does love it--reading and writing are her outlet, giving her a place to travel far away while still physically being with her family.

She married her better half in 2013, and he's been putting up with her craziness every day since. As her anchor, he's her one constant in this insane, forever-changing world.

Knox has ruined me for all other book boyfriends. 🥵 He’s sweet, funny, hot and loves his girl more than anything in the world. This book had me tearing up and fiercely rooting for Knox and Sloan to work out their differences and just love each other forever already! The one aspect of this book and other by this author that I loved the most was that they’re not your typical superficial romance novel. Hannah Gray’s ability to tie in life lessons and more in-depth thoughts allows her books to not only connect you to the characters more but also makes you think about life and what’s important. I can’t say I’ve felt this way about 95% of the romance novels I’ve read, and I’ve read a lot. Hannah Gray pours her heart and soul into her books and it’s obvious she wants her readers to not only enjoy a good smutty romance but also appreciate and feel the emotional roller coaster each character goes through and why. 10/10 again Ms. Gray! You’re killin’ it!

Now that we get the back story of Sloane and Knox it clarifies lots of things from Ally and Cole story. Sloane and Knox were each other’s person but it was not an easy road. They were lots of obstacles especially issues dealing with their families but these overcame all of that. It wasn’t right away and boy did they go thru ups and downs and heartbreaks along with their best friends on the ride but their ending was hilarious and beautiful. These two are everything and Knox is hilarious.

Enjoyable characters and story. Things settled and were resolved a bit too easy. The narrators were good but not my faves.

Knox, Knox, Knox…what a guy. I loved him already in Love Ally, so further exploring Knox’s mind in Forget me Sloane was a real eye opening pleasure. Funny, fun loving, real, charismatic guy that grips at your heart and you can’t let go. Meeting Sloane for the wrong reason and that relationship becoming what it did was really emotional. At times I was literally cheering these two on. Don’t miss this book, it is excellent.

Knox is feeling suffocated. He lives and breathes football, but his father wants different things for him. Forced into agreeing to an ultimatum, Knox plans to execute his plan as quickly as possible. But his heart quickly gets stuck on the mark, Sloane Silvine, and refuses to let go. As what was fake soon becomes all too real, he's forced with the reality that he may just break the heart of the woman he's in love with.

Sloane is in a college 2 hours away from home to escape the caged feeling in her home. Armed with a To-Do list, and determined to enjoy herself while getting her degree, she isn't exactly looking for a boyfriend. So, she is confused, surprised then intrigued that Knox would want to work so hard at getting her attention when she plainly tells him she's not interested. But as she lowers her guard, she realises that Knox might be the best thing she never knew she needed. The secrets lurking in the background and her own family's issues are just a few of the obstacles in the way.

I liked this read. Knox & Sloane are funny. They joke and banter with each other in a way that I totally envy. Their chemistry is obvious, even though they try to pretend - especially Sloane - that it's non-existent. Their story makes me curious about Cole & Ally's story. Ally seems to be a really good friend. I also loved the boys' camaraderie and friendship with each other.

This is a good read with lots of heat and tension, and heartwarming moments. The epilogues were totally sweet, too.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

Knox Knox Knox. You love him but at the same time you wish you could smack him. Sloane sweet as pie and on the road to self discovery. This book was as good as the first one. Can't wait for Weston.

🎧🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧🎧

You wanna know what really gets me all excited and want to shout from rooftops? Well, when an author achieves what I perceive to be the impossible and they do it spectacularly! Wanna know what I perceive to be an impossibility? Creating a story about young kids without making me #twitchy and/or want to stick an icepick in my eyeballs. HANNAH GRAY IS MY HERO!

Listen, I’m not saying that I’ve never read YA/NA romance fiction that was spectacularly done or that Hannah Gray is some sort of anomaly with the world’s best word wizardry, but I am saying that while listening to both Love, Ally and Forget Me, Sloane I never once thought about their age and the ridiculousness that is normal behavior for anyone in their late teens / early twenties. NOT ONCE PEOPLE! Do with all that information what you will :) but you should probably drop everything and buy every book she has ever written. Just some friendly advice from one avid reader to whomever is reading this review!

I did a promotional #bingelisten for both these stories and I’m choosing to review them both as one because it’s not like I’m going to give away any plot-points about the story and also, they’re both happening on the same(ish) timeline and you should not read/listen to one without the other. I mean technically one could say these are standalones inside the Brooks University world, but no. More information for you to do with what you will :)

Love, Ally is a 5+ STAR story but Forget Me, Sloane is more like a 4 STAR.

I know I’ve only experienced two stories by this author which is a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things, but I’m quite certain just from this experience that she’s a writer I’m going to keep my eye out for. The stories were relatable and realistic and very compelling. She packed enough of a punch in each story to make them emotional but didn’t quite cross the line into dark angst, which I appreciated.

Okay, enough words from me! Go forth and enjoy ….

I wasn't too sure whether to give it a 3 or 4 but I ended up giving it a 4 because I did enjoy this book more than Cole's and ally's. however I have to say that the first half of the book where they practically experience insta-love does not cut it for me. I hadn't rlly connected with the two characters nor felt a strong enough connection between the two for Knox to say that he practically loves her and that she's more important than football. and idk whether thats because insta love is something I don't rlly fw or the foundation was just not there. luckily, by the end of it however I finally got an understanding of how Knox rlly felt especially when he was constantly being pushed away for his wrongdoing, and especially after the crash she was involved in. one thing that got on my nerves a little bit or made me kind of uncomfortable was how normalised it was for them to have sex in such intense grievous moments. like idk if ppl actually be doing that... but r u in a right headspace to be doing shit like that? like aren't u just using them at that point? like if ur into that... by all means... it just felt at times the only way they could feel closer together was by having sex not spending quality time w/o each others genitals yfm. despite this I'm immensely proud of the heroine because she's one of those gyals that stayed true to her word till the very end about her not forgiving him so had to GROVEL! as he should. and the fact that she reads as well and uses goodreads... love that for her 🥺✨

Ok ya’ll…I have seen everyone recommend Hannah Gray, and I am so sorry it took me this long to read her! Football season is here, and I just love that this story made me feel like I was back home for the fall in the South (nothing better). As a Clemson fan, it did pain me to read they were in Georgia…but it is what it is, right?
Knox…add him to the book boyfriend list! He is the sweetest, and he knew that he wanted Sloan and there was no way it wasn’t going to happen. Sloan, our little GA peach was exactly that. A blond hair, green eyed southern girl who brought ol Knox to his knees…literally.
The story starts when Knox’s dad puts him on a mission to find Sloan and get info from her about her family. Knox pretty much, immediately tells his dad to F right off once he meets her, but at the end of the day he made the deal. So without going into the story too much and giving away info…he has to grovel. And grovel he does. He also mopes around like a little B…good for you Sloan, but he does redeem himself if I must say!
This story made me cry and laugh and also just feel really dang proud of Peach (her nickname)! It reminded me of home and I’m feeling a little sad about that. Grandpa’s, fishing, and football…those are all great things and they were personal to me. SO thank you, Hannah for writing this book and making me feel all the feels! I look forward to continuing on with this series and more!

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW-

Hannah has been on my list of auto buy authors since I read her first book. I have read everything she’s written multiple times, this one included. However, I was NOT ready for this audio. Liiiiiike, I knew Knox had a filthy mouth, but until Joe Arden brought it to life, my brain was severely underestimating it. Like, SERIOUSLY.

Knox Carter is Brooks University’s cocky star wide receiver. All he cares about is having fun and making it to the NFL. That is, until his dad tells him he needs him for one job at his PI firm before he gives his full support for Knox to chase his dream. Sloane Silvine’s parents are being investigated for some shady dealings and having Knox get close to her is how his father plans on getting information. When Knox finally agrees and begins to form a relationship with Sloane, he realizes he’s developing strong feelings for her. Even though he knows he should protect her by telling her the truth, he’s afraid to lose the girl he’s fallen in love with. Will this secret mean the end?

Again, Joe Arden. SIR. Who gave you the right?! *slow breaths*. And Erin Mallon, as always is the perfect heroine. Her cute little southern accent is 100% Sloane. Absolutely loved both of these narrators in this one.

Knox’s plans for the future include going to college and playing professional football however his father’s plans for his future include him taking over the family business. His father agrees to allow Knox to pursue his own path if he does one assignment for him. This brings Sloane into his life but he didn’t expect to like her let alone love her.

Sloane knows that her parents love her, but she also feels emotionally estranged from them. Attending college is a fresh start and between her roommate/best friend Ally and her deepening relationship with Knox she is enjoying her life however not is all as it seems.

Both Knox and Sloan are in a difficult situation which will have you feeling for both of them as they struggle to overcome the less-than-ideal beginning to their relationship and find the happiness they both deserve. The narrators were a great match not only for the characters but for each other as they brought out all the heat, humor and heart of the story.

A great sports romance with Sloane and Knox, they have great steam, chemistry and what good story doesn't have some drama but still very good. Loved it.

I received this ARC from the Author and my honest review is voluntary.

I read the ebook, but received the audio, which enhanced the feelings in this story. Joe Arden is a great narrator and Erin Mallon does a good job too. The story of a guy Knox, who is manipulated by his father to have his freedom to have the career he wants. A girl Sloane, who feels unnoticed by her parents. Even though their first initial meeting is forced, the relationship begins to blossom. There is angst, betrayal, slight memory loss, anger, loss and love. Great story.

5/5 ⭐️’s for Forget Me, Sloane !!

Everything about this book was fantastic !

Knox + Sloane are unmatched .

Knox just wants to do what he loves without anyone getting in his way . He will do anything to make sure he gets what he wants .

Sloane on the other hand has been burned to many times for her to slip up now . She keeps a low profile and never does anything to reckless .

I listened to this in one sitting because I loved it so much . Joe + Erin were perfect choices for the narrators . I didn’t want this couple’s story to end !

3 stars; spice rate 🌶🌶

I legit forgot what this book was about so I mistook it for another book 😭😭😭 anw Sloane was a bit inconsiderate in the end, and I cringed on how she became edgy because ✨ it's her true self ✨ but ?? IDK ?? GO GIRL ??? it was also bit boring in the beginning and idk I think it just disappointed me with how interesting their relationship was in Ally and Cole's book.

3.5 stars rounded to 3

I read Love, Ally a few months ago and decided now was a good time to jump into Forget Me, Sloane. I recall from the first book in this series that there are some mysterious things going on between Sloane and Knox that we are not privy to at that point in time. I was interested in seeing where their story went. Totally random but I kind of got Grease vibes.

This book is not very long, but did take me more time to get through than expected. I think this was partly because the beginning of this book was basically the same as Love, Ally, but now from different POVs (because Cole, Ally, Sloane, and Knox have multiple scenes together and the stories are overlapping - not linear). While I enjoy the plot lines that this author comes up with, I struggle with reading through the dialogue. It still seems very early 2000s to me. I was happy that Sloane's character had less of that type of tough bravado personality, and her dialogue was more refreshing. I thought Sloane and Knox had great chemistry, but overall I did feel a little bored. I was also bothered by Knox calling his class project partner "babe" while they were working in the library. This was after his relationship with Sloane and I found that inappropriate and disrespectful to both women. But it seems to be a common thing for the guys in these books to use these pet names on girls that aren't their love interests.

I will say that Hannah Gray continues to be queen of epilogues. Knox's proposal was one of the best I've read in a while and I have read many proposals in books.

This is not my favorite series, but I plan to continue reading when the mood strikes.

Knox Carter. Knox freaking Carter!! Here is a Brooks U boy I can get on board with!! I didn’t expect to live him this must I must admit - in previous books he’s been the happy go lucky, cocky, cocker spaniel guy whose energy seems off the wall; which I loved but didn’t expect him to be this sweet, love this hard and be so die hard for Sloane. He would literally give up everything for her. Everything. He’s not afraid to show his emotions or ask for her help when he needs her love to get him through the tough times. And oh did I fall for him ❤️

I loved Sloane. Seriously, that’s what we call character progression!! From the cardigan wearing, prim and proper, perfect princess to embracing her wild side. Letting out the true beauty she is, being authentically her and making her own life choices. Just 👌🏻😘. She was so alone while surrounded by people and Know really allowed her to see herself and see her for all that she was - even when she was hiding away. She’s so strong and fierce, and Ally’s influence really helped her too.

I didn’t see the twist of fate coming!! I didn’t expect that at all and man did that open some emotions. I felt so hard for Knox while he was going through it all and not knowing if Sloane could ever be his again.

So well written, once again Hannah! You really are a mastermind with words and emotions. This Brooks U world you’ve created is incredible, with the most complex of characters and backgrounds but the sweetest of love stories for each couple. I bow to you, my queen! 💜🫶🏻

A couple of things drew me to this book. I like sports romance, and it's narrated by Joe Arden and Erin Mallon. I always know I can count on these narrators to give a good performance, and they do not disappoint. Erin Mallon captures Sloane's feelings and transformation perfectly. Then there's Joe Arden, and I can't imagine anyone else voicing Knox. From the little quips to the sexy talk to Knox's anguish when he suffers a loss, Joe Arden lays it all out there.
This is my first time reading Hannah Gray's work, and I am impressed. This is not just another sports romance. There's a lot of substance here, and the story gets pretty emotional. Of course, there had to be angst. I mean, it's pretty much a given that Sloane will find out about the ultimatum Knox's father laid down, and it's not hard to figure out that she's going to be upset. So, yeah, angst, but Hannah Gray also knows her stuff when it comes to sarcasm and wit - two of my favorite elements in any genre.
To sum it up, Forget Me, Sloane is an entertaining, steamy romance with engaging characters. Knox and Sloane are a couple you can't help but root for, and I thoroughly enjoyed their story. Now that I've been introduced to Hannah Gray's work, I'll be adding a few more books to my TBR.

A guy like Knox Carter? He could be the worst decision I ever made. Yet I’d go into it full force anyway. -Sloane

What I feel for her is intense. I’m falling for this girl. Fast and very fucking furious. -Knox

WOW! 5 Stars to Hannah Gray! I was NOT expecting/predicting the twists and turns of this book. Seriously, the curveball she throws at the reader in this novel is fantastic. It pulled on my heartstrings in all the right ways!

Sloane's note to Knox made me cry. The way Knox proved himself worthy of Sloane made me cry. Knox made me laugh constantly. The quips between Sloane/Ally and Knox/Cole were everything. The relationship between Sloane and Knox was passionate and sweet. All great things combined together that made this book 5 stars for me.

Hannah Gray does a really good job of writing epilogues as well. She shows us plenty of the future with enough to keep us satisfied with the Happily Ever After.

Perfect romantic comedy, with second chance romance, and college sports themes. ☺️

“You don’t know how much you need somebody until you lose them. She was it for me. I love her more than I’ve ever loved anybody in this world.”

First things first, my sweet baby Knoxy. I adore you, I adore your character, I just adore everything about you.

After meeting both Sloane & Knox in ‘Love, Ally’ and getting a little bit of their story, we finally get to read the whole thing from their POV’s.

Although he didn’t start talking to Sloane with the best intentions, Knox soon realised his mistakes and put a stop to it. I can understand how Sloane didn’t forgive him straight away, but I’m clearly a lot weaker than her as I would’ve forgave him, and probably even been the one to apologise to him! Like, I could never let a man like him go!

I loved Sloane’s character, especially after Knox bought out the side of her that she tried to hide.
Knox’s dad can do one and manipulative parents in books are the worst.

Side note – Ally seemed like a completely different person in this book than her own, and I almost preferred her in this.

This book includes:
-Football Romance
-College Setting
-Keeping Secrets

I just finished Forget Me, Sloane by Hannah Gray and I am just so in love with the Brooks University Series!

Hannah Gray has a way of creating a story that has romance, heat, mystery, shock value, surprises, emotion, heavy topics, fun, depth and entertainment. I absolute love her characters that are relatable issues that we all face at some point in our lives.

The camaraderie between the friends are genuine. The love stories are heartbreaking and heartwarming. The steamy scenes are super hot. There's light and fun chapters that have you smiling with lightheartedness. The grieve they endure is devastating.

It's a well rounded story that has you turning the pages with eagerness. The family dynamics and the pressures of life are empathetic. It's a great read and I recommended it with 2 thumbs up.

My soul dog and book buddy, Pippa, gives Forget Me, Sloane by Hannah Gray a 5 licks rating with a steam rating of 3.5 Triple X Hot.

Knox & Sloane

I really liked Knox's character, but that was not enough to save this story.

Their romance is based on a lot of sex a not enough of everything else. They claim they support each other, they lift each other up, they make each other better, but all of that is through sex. It's ok at first, but there comes a point where that gets tiring.

Also the story is full of random episodes. A lot happens off page that is later bought up or referenced in the story, and it just doesn't connect or add up to it. If the off page event is so relevant, it should've happened on page.

The book is on the shorter side, and it took me 6 days to read it. With a good book, it can be twice as long and I'll devour it in half the time. A good book doesn't let be put down, and this one was a struggle to pick up.

There's one more book in the series and I'll read it, but I'm not expecting much.

This book had so many twists and turns and I was here for every single one of them! I am loving this series, and listening to it on audio has only made it that much better.

I loved Sloane and Knox from the first book, and I'm so happy we got their story in this one. The way that Knox fell SO hard when he wasn't expecting to was everything, and I loved how he eventually couldn't care less about anything but her. His groveling was perfection, and his mouth was SO dirty. I absolutely ate him up!!

Sloane was such a fun character - she was all sweet and innocent but a little dirty at the same time. I love how much she grew through the book and was finally living her life the way she wanted to at the end.

These two were so hot and cold in the beginning but once they gave in, I absolutely fell for them! They were really so perfect for each other.

Thank you to Wordsmith Publicity for the Audio copy!

Ok so we get Knox in the first book and I loved him..

In this book he is more funny/silly and very sweet for his girl..

We learn that he likes chick flicks and can sing👀

His dad puts him in a horrible situation to get information but after that first “fake” date he knew he couldn’t do it.

Sloane is different and doesn’t feel seen but Knox makes her feel seen.. She fights her feelings for him but eventually she falls… I mean how could you not..

He is obviously scared to tell her the truth but when her mom actually lets her hear a conversation everything comes crumbling down…

She is heartbroken and mad and walks away…

Things happen, Sloane ends up hurt and in the hospital and Knox wants to fight to get his girl back.

lord did I love this book. I always love a good sports romance book and this is the second book following after love, ally. Knox was introduced in the first book and I was so excited for his story because of his charisma. Knox was a charismatic, joking, filthy talking, football player. Nothing could prepare for me for the things that came out of that man’s mouth. Lawdddd. Sloane was such a relatable heroin who we got to see find herself and become so much stronger than she started in the beginning. It was an amazing transformation ending in the sweetest relationship. However, nothing prepared for those tear jerker plot twists that made us work to get the HEA we so desperately wanted Knox and sloane to get.

Wow!

Another great book in a series. I have loved every book I have read from this author.
Knox and his Peach start out on a lie. Knox just wants his own life and he'll do whatever he needs to so he can get it. He backtracks this quickly when meeting her for the first time. He knows he's going to fall hard and he knows he's going to have to work really hard for forgiveness once everything comes out.
