I really enjoyed this story of Louise and Ty. The writing was engaging and the author wrote the female heroine strong, not as a blubbering, wishy-washy female. She was unselfish and did so much for everyone else even with bad things that were thrown her way.

Being of Norwegian heritage myself, I was disappointed when the author does not provide her characters with Norwegian surnames. In every instance, the spelling of her character's surnames is the traditional Swedish spelling rather than Norwegian. Due to the language differences, most Norwegians would use the surname Olsen and Hansen. But she used the Swedish spelling of Olson and Hanson. Since she made a big issue with her Norwegian characters, the least she could do is spell their names correctly.
(SPOILER ALERT) I also take issue with the whole idea that a multi-billionaire would arbitrarily bequeath a billion dollars to a non-relative by simply marrying by an arbitrary deadline and agreeing to live in North Dakota the remainder of their days. That concept is so far out in la-la land that I cannot believe an author would include it as a key element in a story – even if it is fiction. That Louise would even think about marrying Paul, a man she does not love and is 15 years her senior, to get the money is indicative of a lack of morals. I was very disappointed that Louise would castigate Ty for never coming back to her when she never made any attempt to let him know he was the father of her child. Even fictional stories need to be based on some form of reality. Three-Stars.

There were many things that bothered me about the story...
The over the top reactions of the brothers, even after learning that Ty hadn't known about his child were very strange.
Louise's insecurities were annoying. She was as much to blame, as Ty was, for his absence. She knew about his father's death and had to have considered that he was grieving.
His mother staying silent made no sense?!
The story could have done without the phone in the toilet....

Life continues in Sweet Water with single mother, Louise, and hockey star, Ty. Louise is a hard working woman who provides for her child and cares for her grandparents and has never given a hint about the father of Tella. Ty has more money than he knows what to do with and does the math when he returns to Sweet Water and meets Louise's eight year old daughter. If you like hockey and cowboys, you will enjoy this story of real love. I received a complimentary copy of Cowboys Don't Have a Secret Baby from the author. This is my honest opinion.

Ty and Louise were best friends and secretly they started seeing each other down by the river. Ty left to go to college and to become a major hockey star. He had a fight with his father that night. But later that night his father had a heart attack and passed away. Ty didn't come home for over 9 years. Then he came home to see his mother. He ran into Louise and while he was at home for a month he found out that he was a dad.
Louise had been pregnant the last time she had seen Ty for his father's funeral but she hadn't known that. She found out later. But she didn't tell him or anyone because she wanted him to get his college education and become the hockey star that he had.
Now can she trust him again and can they become more than friends. Check out the book I just couldn't put it down.

I am a sucker for second-chance romances. But secret babies? Those are my kryptonite. I am seven books behind in my ARC reading, see a secret baby book, and next thing I know I’m tapping the one-click button. Usually I don’t have regrets about doing so. This time, I have mixed feelings.
Ty and Louise had a clandestine “affair” the summer before he went off to college and she was a senior in high school. When a tragic event rocked Ty’s family, he went off to school without saying goodbye to Louise, then never contacted her for nine years.
When Louise found out she was pregnant a month after Ty left, she kept waiting for him, but when several months passed without a word, she went on in life, never naming the father of her child. Instead of chasing her dreams of being a doctor or researcher, she lives with her grandparents, brother and sister-in-law, and her eight year old daughter, and works as a waitress in the local diner.
Now Ty has come home to recuperate from an injury, intending to rehab his leg and be ready to go when the hockey season starts in a month. While he’s home, he volunteers at church to help with a town festival. Of course he’s paired to work with Louise…
There were several things I liked about this book. The first thing Ty does when speaking to Louise for the first time in nine years is apologize. And he keeps apologizing. He understands he broke her trust, and knows it’s going to take time and work to earn it back. He doesn’t expect his good looks and charm to work like magic in erasing his sins. I love a hero who gives good grovel, and Ty did pretty well. I also like how the reveal of his child went down and how Ty and Louise handled it. Did I agree with Louise’s reasons for not reaching out to let him know he was a father? This time I kinda did. But I liked how when the secret was revealed, Ty didn’t rant and rave and blow up at Louise. He had a justifiable amount of anger, but then was able to understand the reasoning behind Louise’s actions. And nothing makes me happier than seeing a couple take their time getting back together. Especially when one party has been so grievously hurt by the other, it was so great to see them move at a realistic pace.
However, there were also several things I didn’t like, starting with this whole “get a billion dollars for getting married by December” malarkey. What the heck was that all about??? This is book two in the series, but it’s not a continuation of the first book, meaning a reader should be able to pick up any book and not be confused. Was it explained better in book one? Because it wasn’t here. All the reader knows is Louise and her brother got a letter saying they’d get one billion dollars for getting married and living in North Dakota, and it was apparently legit because her brother got married and was given the money. First of all, that’s just ridiculous. Okay, this is fiction, and I suspend my belief in reality continually while reading (exhibit A: I’ve read the Twilight series...multiple times). But someone has TWO billion dollars to give away??? (And it may be more - I have no idea how many others in this series may have gotten this offer, but I'm assuming more because the series is named Sweet Water Ranch Billionaire Cowboys.) That’s just ridiculous. Why not make it one million, or five million? Which is also unbelievable, but at least not a ridiculous amount of money. Anyway, not only was the money situation unbelievably unrealistic, I didn’t care for what it did to the story arc in the book. Ty and Louise getting reacquainted after all this time apart is compelling enough without throwing in some silly need for Louise to get married so she can get money.
The other thing that made this story go sideways for me was the waffling between a contemporary story, and characters who behaved a little old fashioned - specifically Louise’s brothers. This book has some minor religious overtones - they go to church, talk about God’s purpose in their lives, and there’s no swearing or overt references to sex. They barely even kiss! Those aren’t bad things, and I even appreciate a clean romance as long as the storytelling is the primary purpose of the book (instead of proselytizing) - which was definitely the case here. But the whole “sitting close to someone in church means you’re getting married” seemed less small town “rules” and more “this book takes place in 1890” which seemed completely out of place, especially considering the hero is a professional hockey player. Or maybe it’s just me.

And to add further insult to injury, the epilogue dealt less with Ty and Louise’s happily-ever-after and more about setting up the next book. At this point, I’m not sure I’m all that interested in the next book - or the rest of the series. This book was such a mixed bag (and also there’s the issue of my giant ARC list) that I’m not sure if I want to take a chance on anymore Sweet Water Ranch Billionaire Cowboys books.

June 6, 2022My review today is on the Christian Romance, The Cowboy's Secret Baby. This is book two in the series Sweet Water Ranch. I'm now a huge fan of Jessie's book. When I finished the first one in this series I knew I had to read book two. It didn't let me down, it was just as good as the first. I do wish they had been on YouTube though, I love Jay's narration.
Ty Hanson is a famous hockey player. He returns to Sweet Water after an injury. He had left nine years ago and hadn't been back. He had a fight with his father right before he died and couldn't stand the guilt. Plus he had betrayed the only woman he had ever loved. Now on his return he finds he has a young daughter who he hadn't known existed.
Louise had never told anyone who was the father of her child. She had suffered through her whole senior year alone. She would never have asked Ty to give up his hockey for her but it had devastated her when he never called or came back. Now her brother had recently gotten married and she felt like a third wheel. She received a letter telling her was to inheit a billion dollars but she must marry by Christmas and spend her whole life in North Dakota. She could buy her own ranch. She asked a bachelor in town to marry her and he agreed. Then Ty came back. How she could marry another when she still loved Ty.
A great journey to find love and trust after betrayal. God ha s plan for this little family, a good plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life.

I have read the Baxter Boys series by this author and enjoyed it very much. I’m excited to this new series that takes place in Sweet Water, North Dakota. I skipped the first book in the series but I am looking forward to going back to read Palmer and Ames’ story. Her characters have depth and emotion and there is chemistry and romance. The story is clean without descriptive sex and foul language.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

Ty is pro hockey player back in his hometown for the first time in nine years. He sustained an injury off ice that his agent wants to keep quiet about, and his hometown offers him a place to recuperate out of the limelight. His hometown holds many memories for him, the worst being the death of his dad, the best being the sweet girl he left behind. Louise is a single mom of an adorable eight year old daughter, Tella. She is holding down two jobs, as well as helping out on the family ranch and taking care of her elderly grandparents. She has recently been offered a billion dollar inheritance if she marries and settles down to live in North Dakota. With so much on her plate, she is considering claiming her inheritance by marrying a man she doesn’t love. When Ty comes back to town, Louise knows sooner or later everyone is going to find out about her secret....he is her daughter’s father. Ty and Louise’s reunion is not a happy one, at least for her. He struggles to get on her good side. He knows now his biggest mistake was leaving her behind and never making an effort to contact her again. He has never forgotten her and hopes to reconnect with her, at least in friendship, though he is hoping for so much more. When they are given the task of jointly chairing an upcoming festival, they have a chance to reconnect, to learn more about each other. Both had made assumptions about the life of the other, and both had never forgotten what they had once shared. When Louise’s secret is revealed, Ty is at first angry, then ashamed and filled with guilt. The events surrounding his dad’s death drove him away, and now he realizes he must make amends to Louise and Tella. He strives to get closer to these two important females in his life, and makes an effort to slowly gain back Louise’s trust. But they both know he is leaving again to play hockey. Can she trust him, and his plans for the future? Can they really have a future together, like they planned all those years ago?
The characters in this book are true to life, vivid and absolutely fascinating. It is easy to become immersed in their story, to want to discover how their story unfolds. The glimpses into lives of the secondary characters, and Palmer and Ames from the first book in this series, are thoughtfully dispersed throughout this book and make it so much more enjoyable to read. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Louise is now a single-mother struggling to get by on the paycheck of a waitress and part time editor, care for her aging parents, and be a good mother to Tella; her nine-year-old daughter. Her lofty dreams of college and a successful career in medical research were set aside and she endured a year of hell as a pregnant, unmarried, high school senior. Louise kept the identity of her baby’s father a secret from everyone, including her family; never even telling Ty she was pregnant.
Tella is an avid hockey fan, never knowing that her favorite pro player is actually her father and now Ty is back in Sweet Water, recovering from a serious injury. Running into Louise at the diner was a pleasant surprise and he is looking forward to picking up where they left off as teenagers. When Louise finds herself serving with Ty as co-chairs of the Harvest Festival she knows the time has come to reveal all, especially since Tella cannot wait to meet him.
The pace is excellent and the author weaves the romance between Ty and Louise into their everyday lives in a believable storyline. The book is a lovely romantic escape for an afternoon or a couple of evenings.

The Cowboy's Secret Baby was the best! This is one of those tropes I'm never sure if I'll like, but I loved Jessie's take on it. Granted, I had already been hooked on Louise's mysterious past from the previous book and the big enigma of who the father of her baby was, so to get to see her POV and how everything happened, was definitely great. :) As for Ty, he was so sweet! I loved him as a hero, and how he deeply cared for Louise. Their past chemistry is there (Jessie writes the best explosively sweet romance out there, especially considering what's already happened in their past), but these two have a lot of things to talk about, trust to gain from his side, and truth to share from hers. Tella was perfect and I loved how she bonded with Ty, and how she "chose him" on her own. Of course, it's always great to see past characters, and it was nice to know Ames and Palmer are still going strong, and how everything unfolded concerning their grandparents. Jay continues to be as great as ever in his performance of every character and their voices. I seriously loved the emotions and the passion between Ty and Louise, the longing, along with the respect and admiration for the other.
I definitely can't wait to listen to the rest of the series, especially after that epilogue, and knowing B&tB is my favorite fairytale retelling. ~ 4.75 stars.

Skimmed most of this story. It was a typical story about boy and girl that meet in high school, boy (Ty) graduates a year before the girl (Louise), gets her pregnant and never comes back because he is in college and a hockey star. 9 years later, he comes back to their north dakota town. 9 years! Louise never told anyone who the father of their daughter was... even tho Ty's mom babysat Tella for 9 years. There were so many holes that were wide open yet kept hidden in this story that made it annoying. At no time did Louise feel necessary to notify someone despite their status as a hockey player that they were a father?! At no time did the hockey players mother tell her son about what she knew, that her son was a father of a child that was left to scrape by in a shithole small town ND?! The characters were god fearing church people... these people love gossip more than Jesus and they didn't say anything for 9 years?
Lets skip the strange billion dollars that Louise was set to inherit. From where, who knows because it was not explained. I read this book without reading book 1.

A heartwarming, sometimes heartbreaking story. Ty is a famous hockey superstar who is out due to an injury. Since his agent wants to keep the injury a secret, Ty heads back to his home town to be with his family. While there, he sees his first love with another man and the memories come flooding back. No woman has ever made him feel the emotions that he felt with Louise. Could they be together again, knowing that he will be leaving again?
Louise is horrified that Ty is back in town. When he left town to pursue college and hockey, neither of them was aware that she was pregnant with his daughter, Tella. Since he never contacted Louise after leaving town, she never told him about the child. No one in her family even knew who Tella's father was. She is now engaged to Paul who would make a wonderful father to Tella. How could Ty compete with that?

-You gotta love a small-town story and what it all entails. Gossip, mean people, supportive friends and family, hard work for everyone, resilience.
-You will laugh, cry, cringe, thunk your forehead and shake your head.
-Ty & Louise's story is not an easy one to talk about. There are so much details that could be taken right or wrong from everyone in town to the readers.
-I felt for Sawyer and Palmer; my brothers are the same way. I'm the youngest. I don't know if Louise is the youngest but she's the only girl. So I really liked the scene where the pieces of the puzzle come together one by one. Poor Ty! But he reacted in a believable way, towards Louise, Tella and the brothers.
-Ty & Louise each paid the price of their actions in their own way. Ty a bit later, but still had to let go of something.
-I like that the author adds an epilogue; it usually brings you to the next book.

First, this book is available on audiobook and the narrator was decent. After you read the 1st book in the series where Palmer gets $500 million after taxes, this story doesn’t make as much sense. When this book starts, Louise who is Palmers sister shouldn’t be working herself to death if her brother with whom she lives has $500 million! Grandma is not doing the back breaking work of jarring tomatoes and canning corn!! Sawyer, their brother, should have a house and workers on his land, if Palmer has $500 million. PLUS One guy dies and is giving 3 people in the same family a billion dollars each ($500 million after taxes) No! And everyone in the town hated Tyler but Louise gets away with not having ever told Tyler she was knocked up, nor did his Mom tell him!! And Louise and Tyler are damn near 30, why are her brothers all up in her business, throwing Tyler out because he dared to kiss her!!! The author should have picked an inheritance of $500,000 to make it make sense!

As much as I enjoyed book one in the series, this one just ran away with a 5+ stars rating.
The story of Louise Olson and Ty Hanson is a sweet ,clean , touching , at times heartbreaking but also heartwarming story.
Two individuals that fell in love but on the one and only time they became one, the world around them changed their lives forever.
Ty left to become a famous hockey player with little contact with the town, and Louise was left to pick up the pieces and bring up a darling daughter. A girl whose father’s name was never mentioned and one he knows nothing about.
Little did they know that when Ty returns 9 years later, everyone’s life will change once again. But will Ty stay this time, or will he once again leave behind everyone he loves?

I love series where we start to care about side characters and then get to have their story!
Louise’s story is as common as original sin and as special as a unconditional love. Her character is written with the perfect balance of strength, self-sacrifice, loyalty and vulnerability.
Ty and Louise’s love story is a joy to read! (The phone saga at the end is classic! I was definitely chuckling a few times!)
As I read these books, there’s an authenticity that makes me think they are based on a real community.
I've also listened to this book on Audible and it is very well acted! I highly recommend listening! The voice actor just SOUNDS like a cowboy!
I can’t wait for Ford’s story because he acts like a heel and needs some humility followed by some love and acceptance.

I am really enjoying this series and this book was so much fun to read. It is full of hope, romance, and second chances. Ty is a sexy, hockey player who does not know he has a daughter and Louise is the girl he fell in love with back in high school but he did not know that then. Nine years later Ty is ready to return home to North Dakota only to discover Louise is his one true love. I liked how close knit the families were and I especially liked what both Ty and Louise were willing to give up for each other. I cannot wait to read more books in this series because I really like the characters and the stories. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Great story
Giving up dreams and making sacrifices so someone else could follow their dreams can be one of the hardest things to ever do. Then keeping a secret for eight years, never breathing a word to anyone can make the secret even harder to handle because you have no one to share it with.
Now, imagine if your secret came out to your family and friends in the span a a few minutes.
Louise had a daughter on the night she was to graduate from high school. No one ever knew who the father is. Until Ty came home to recover from a leg injury. It took one look at the little girl to know she was his daughter. How do he and Louise work through this? She should have told him. She didn't do he could be the professional hockey player.

He left her to deal with it all and never looked back. She had believed in him and in them and part of her died a little when he didn’t contact her. Raising their child and living in the small town where everyone knew everything wasn’t easy but she never revealed her daughters father. Now he’s back and there’s more than a spark there. Oh how I loved the back and forth and angst with this book. I have to admit there were times when I wanted to tell her to suck it up but then she would show her gumption and strength. It’s a second chance clean romance and I absolutely loved how the author brought it all together.

He sees her waitressing and wonders why someone so smart was still in Sweet Water as a waitress. He figured she would be long gone in some big city.

This story starts with a hockey giant in his home town for the off season recuperating from a leg injury. His former girl didn't want anything to do with him because he had not kept in touch after he left 10 years earlier. Ty tried to rekindle their relationship, but Louise would have nothing to do with that since he had up and left without keeping in touch with her. He did not know he had a daughter with her. This romantic story has lots of angst in it. After such a long time, there were secrets that needed telling, misconceptions to right and time to make up for, This story is written with a lot of feeling, and keeps the reader's interest very well. Excellent story.

Wow if the rest of these books in this series are as amazing as the first two this set has got to be a number one best seller. I am so hooked on this series. I can’t make up my mind which one I like better book one or book two. Ty and Louise have so much love for each other and are willingly to give up everything for each other and Tella is the sweetest girl ever. If you haven’t read any books in this series I strongly suggest that you read them, you will not be disappointed. Jessie Gussman you just keep getting better and better the more books I read. Now I am on to book three and I can’t wait to find out what happens in this book.
