Books in the Baxter Boys series:
1. Always With You 2. Forever With You 3. Still With You 4. Second Chance With You 5. For Keeps With You
I received an ARC from the author; this is my honest review. 3.5 stars -I've been following this series since the beginning and only saw/heard of Dusty briefly. Nothing to veered either way (like/dislike), so I was astonished to see a book all about her. The epilogue possibly brings you to the next couple. -Theoretically, any Code of Ethics lets you know that the professional will not mix-up business with pleasure with its clients, any client. In real-life, we've all seen it happened one time or the other. And it's dealt with case-by-case with no absolute. -Safety first: Roland & Dusty don't seem like wearing life-jackets while in the boat. If the boat capsized, Dusty would have drowned with her braces. -Bombshell: Why did Roland accept doing Abigail a favor since Roland already confessed to Craig that the charges were real? How would Craig react to that now? -I loved the story (****) up until about 85%. Then the end came (right before the epilogue) without making sense, either from Roland or Dusty (***). Roland pushing away all his years of pain in one sweep - unbelievable, and Dusty commanding him to face his fear - how inconsiderate of her. -All through the book, it doesn't say anything about PTSD for either of them and it doesn't seem like they had any, which I have a hard time to believe. It should have been present at some point even though it's a short book. I had a terrible accident (with no dead people or fire) and went in rehab for 2 years with 5 different therapists, 5 days/week, 8 hours/day, then just 3 hours/day, twice or thrice a week until I gave up after 11 years. I still have PTSD. I still have pain. I still have problems. Roland, in my opinion, endured so much more than me.
[BOOK 5 OF THE BAXTER BOYS SERIES: FORMERLY TITLED "FLY AWAY"; NOW TITLED "THE BAXTER BOY'S SENSATION"]
A mostly pleasant Baxter boys side trip
Frankly, I didn't think I'd enjoy a story with Dusty much; I wasn't particularly taken with her character in previous books. However, I quickly found myself really enjoying her pairing with Roland - loved Roland - and rooting for their happily-ever-after.
The one star deduction is mainly because the conflict at the end made Dusty look stunningly selfish & insensitive, and for the level of trauma Roland had been through, was too quickly & patly resolved. It didn't ruin the story, but it was jarring & made the ending feel unnecessarily rushed, so it did detract some.
On a side note, the set up for Eve's story with Tucker looks like it's going to be fun!
Roland and Dusty are both survivors. He survived a horrific plane crash that resulted in his girlfriend’s death. He has been scarred both physically and emotionally. He is not looking for another woman to share his life, especially one who is addicted to danger like Dusty. She is a pro motocross racer who survived an accident on her bike that left her with broken vertebrae and femur, among other injuries. She meets Roland when he takes on the job as her physical therapist. He has a reputation of being the best, and she knows it will take the best physical therapist to get her in shape to return to the racing circuit and compete for the championship title she so desperately wants. Roland knows she will be a challenge for him to help. She is strong willed and pushes herself to the point of doing more harm than good. As they work together, both have to fight against their attraction to each other. Eventually boundaries are crossed, (therapist and patient personal interaction is a no-no), and they see themselves as friends then as something more. A disgruntled employee at the therapy centre, and a seeming betrayal rock their relationship. Trust issues arise and Dusty is at a loss when she is faced with a future that doesn’t include competitive motorcross racing. Can these two work through the upsets and claim a future together? I was enrapt with this story from the very first page to the last. The characters are so vivid and intriguing that I couldn’t wait to discover how their story unfolds. It was also a joy to read more about the characters featured in the four other books in this series. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is book 5 in the Baxter Boys series. This book takes a step away from the Baxter boys and focuses on a friend, Dusty Gibson. Dusty is a Motocross competitor and she's really good until she has the crash of a lifetime. She is lucky to have survived and it will take a long-time and lots of therapy so that she might be able to walk normally again. She may never be able to return to the sport she loves so much but she is determined that she will.
Roland is Dusty's handsome physical therapist. He is determined to provide the best care he can so Dusty can heal from her physical wounds. But, the more time that Roland spends with Dusty he realizes he wants more than to help heal her physical wounds and finds there are some emotional wounds, as well. When the lines between healer and patient become blurred, will he be able to do the right thing? What will the right thing be? Roland has his own emotional scars to recover from, too.
I was given an arc copy of this book and just like all this author's other books in this series, this book brings to light the emotional pain of loss and the healing power of love. I willingly offer my honest review.
Though a bit different than the previous books in the series, this is another well written story . This time , the story centers not around the Baxter Boys, but around one of the friends of their wives. Dusty Gibson is a successful motocross driver who suffered a debilitating accident and one that will require extensive therapy. Roland Bryant is a sought after and well respected physical therapist to whom she is referred. When they meet , the attraction is evident, but professionalism keeps them apart…until she needs a fake boyfriend and the lines start to blur. These two have baggage that has molded them in their lives and seemingly having different goals . But will Roland risk his job for her? And will Dusty put herself in danger of an injury that could paralyze her? If you have read the series, you’ll get a chance to visit with the Baxter crew and meet some new characters. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I didn't see this book coming so what a delightful surprise. This story involved Dusty, another very strong female character, who is friends with all of the Baxter Boys spouse's and sisters. This lady is very serious about her motocross racing and seeking the championship! But a little accident crushed that idea for this year. After multiple injuries she has sought the "best" physical therapist that was available. Enter Roland who is definitely the best. He has been pursued by many "elite sportsmen" but he still hangs pretty close to home, so Dusty is another challenge that he takes seriously. However, that doesn't mean he bends to her will, quite the opposite. Another enchanting story by Jessie Gussman that should appeal to all clean romance lovers, young, old or in between. I received an ARC copy of this book. This is my voluntary and honest review with my own personal thoughts and opinions. Vicki from Wyoming
This is one of those romances that just make you feel good. This author does that well. She takes your average story and makes it better. He was still tender from his loss of a few years back but has found a way to work through his grief and help others. Love isn't in the cards for him until she walks in his life needing his help. He finds himself at a crossroad when everything about her calls to him and suddenly his loss isn't so painful. She challenges him, awakes things in him long dead. I love this authors style and her characters. Yes it's insta love but. . . and that's what makes the difference. Somehow this author makes you want the hea for her characters as she shares their pain, their healing and their passion while keeping it clean which isn't easy but she sure does make it seem that way. Fall in love with them catch up with some old friends in the process in this standalone read. If you haven't read her other books these characters will make you want to.
Dusty Gibson was tough. She had to be to compete in the male dominated sport of motocross. She won’t let a potentially career ending injury stop her from winning the championship. Roland Bryant is the best physical therapist in the area and he’s going to do everything he can to help Dusty recover even if it means withholding the truth about her injuries from her. And if they have a forbidden secret romance along the way who will find out except for his jealous coworker Abigail. There was plenty of humor in this sweet romance. I loved following up on Baxter clan, their spouses, and children. Even though Dusty wasn’t one of them, they took her in as an honorary family member after her parents and brothers were indifferent to her. The only good one in her family is her nephew Tucker. I loved that Roland faced his fears of flying to support Dusty because it made her happy. I thought it was cool that he found a new career niche training on injury prevention.
Dusty had always seemed to me to be irresponsible as well as a dare devil, not caring about her own safety or wellbeing. This story changed my opinion. The way she followed doctor orders even when she didn't like it was great. She is still a dare devil but a responsible one. Roland with his straight forward way is perfect for her. He sees beyond the tough girl to the lonely, sometimes insecure woman underneath.
Patricia Ricketts did a terrific job portraying the Various characters and narrating.
I recieved a free Audible copy of this story, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.
Though this book is a slight departure from the style of the rest of the series, the voice is still intriguing and encompasses your attention! In this story, you get to observe the Baxter family from the point of view of their close friends, how friends are adopted into their unique family. Dusty, a female racer and Roland, her physical therapist have both experienced nearly life-ending accidents and the other tragic losses that often accompanies those types of experiences. This story deals so well with trauma and life-changing loss, yet it still has a light, hopeful feel; no unnecessary drama.
This story isn't as much about the Baxter boys, but they are definitely a part of the book. This book is about Dusty, she is a very good friend of the Baxter boys and their wives. Dusty is a motocross rider. The only thing she has ever wanted was to win the championship and to show people that girls could ride bikes also. Roland is a physiotherapist that has had something devastating take place in his life. We really get to know these two in this story and it is a really great book. I totally recommend it! I received a free download of this audio book from Audiobooks Unleashed. This review is totally my own honest opinion.
As with each of the prior books in the Baxter Boys series, this one was a sweet romance that continued to give the reader a HEA story. Jessie is one of my favorite authors. I always enjoy the dialogue she often gives the characters which includes humorous banter back and forth. Dusty and Roland had to overcome some serious obstacles in this well written book but they found the way to resolution. The characters from the previous books provide some supporting roles but it's not necessary to have read their own stories. However, it is nice to hear that they are still around. I'll look forward to reading Eve's story next.
Dusty is an adrenaline junkie who loves to race motorcycles, fly planes etc. Roland went through a traumatic plane accident with his fiancé Janice who died in the accident. Dusty had a bad motorcycle accident and Roland is her physical therapist, as he is helping her to heal from her injuries he is battling the emotional and physical trauma from his and Janice’s plane accident. Jessie Gussman makes her stories seem so real like you are actually living through them. She did an amazing job with this whole series and I can’t wait for the next book in this series to come out. Great job by this author and I would highly recommend this whole set.
The entire Baxter Boys series has had really strong challenges that most of us can relate to in our everyday lives. With Dusty, the story highlights the physical challenges of an accident that could have ended her life, but not only brought the healing power of the best therapist around, but also the emotional healing that a strong personal commitment can bring to a relationship. Roland has his own challenges to overcome, but the strength of the relationship they build is enough to overcome both of their "challenges", and create a future that we all would love to have. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with Dusty's nephew!
I am really enjoying the Baxter Boys series and this story is no exception. In this book we meet Dusty, a fearless and beautiful motocross champion who is getting physical therapy following a horrific accident. Her physical therapist, Roland, becomes more than her therapist despite his efforts to keep his distance because he is no open to romance after a tragic accident that killed his fiancée. This friends-to-lovers sweet romance held my attention and kept me turning pages. I highly recommend it!
Seriously, How could you leave me hanging about Eve and Eden, even more so, Tucker and Eve, I can already tell Tucker's about to make a grave mistake... Hence... Seriously?!
Wonderful series from Torgue all the way to Dusty! Absolutely fun, by the way, Tough was too funny!
All five books were a joy to read, completely unexpected, yet complete joys! I loved each individual theme, all very good ones, including the underlying theme!
My review today is on the Christian Romance, For Keeps with You. This is book five in the Baxter Boys Series. This book is well written, humorous, and full of faith. Dusty is a motorcross racer. She has a terrible accident. She is determined to race again. Physical therapist is in charge of her therapy. Dusty doesn’t seem to be aware that she will never race again but he does everything in his power to heal body. A journey to love. God ha a plan for these two. A plan for hope and a a future.
I loved Roland snd Dusty’s story. It is sad that Dusty was in an accident and had to have physical therapy. That is how she meets Dusty. They have chemistry and fun banter from the start when they meet. I like how they can tease and joke with each other even about the big stuff. Roland was in a terrible plan crash before she met Dusty and I liked how he used those experiences to help others. This is a sweet, enjoyable, clean romance where characters from the rest of the series make short appearances.
Dusty is terribly injured in a motocross accident. She is determined to fully recover and get back onto the circuit. Her physical therapist is dedicated to helping her to heal. They are attracted to each other, but also are trying not to be. He lost his fiance is a horrible accident and is leery of becoming involved with a risk taker.
Another well written book by Jessie Gussman. I think this book is the best of the Baxter Boys series so far, although I've enjoyed all of them.
Another of the Baxter Group Finds Love This is a sweet and clean romance. It is part of the Baxter Boys series and features the same group of people in the same Pennsylvania town. The story is a romance of two people who need to get through, past and beyond some major hurts and hurdles from their pasts. This is a high-quality story that is about more than romance. I received this ARC from the author for free and this is my honest review.
Fly Away is another wonderful story from one of my favorite authors. This time the story is about a friend of the Baxter Boys' wives. Both Dusty and her physical therapist Roland who have both survived horrific accidents. Ms. Gussman's stories always have such heart, humanity, and characters struggling to be more. This book has well written characters and a wonderful story. I just sat and read it straight through. Now I am eagerly anticipating the next book in the series.
Could love be the ultimate cure? Beautifully written and very emotional story filled with pain, self-doubt, healing, and love! Characters are vividly portrayed. The interactions between Roland and Dusty are adorable. I love how spunky Dusty is ;) I genuinely enjoyed reading this book. * I received a complimentary copy from the author and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review. All opinions in this review are my own. *
If you are looking for a book that you can't put down, then this is the book for you! It involves two accidents, many fears, competition, and life changes with a little scandal mixed in. In addition, there are all the great characters from the previous books in the series. I highly recommend this book! But the whole Baxter Boys series is so good you won't want to miss anything, so start at the beginning.
This fifth book in the "Baxter Boys" series focused on Dusty Gibson, a friend of the Baxters' wives. Dusty was in a horrendous bike accident. To aid in her recovery, Roland was assigned as her physical therapist. Their story was sweet and moving, but was it completely ethical? Patricia Ricketts' narration was satisfactory. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.
How many Baxter boys are there? And how does Dusty tie in with them?
Physical therapy for her motocross accident where she flew over the handlebars & injured her back, knee, & shoulder? Tied into her physical therapist who has burn scars from years ago. How does it tie into the Baxter? Their wives of course. They are her ride to her therapy sessions despite feeling like she is a great inconvenience to them! And there’s more. Read this story for more surprises!
This highly emotional romance finds Dusty, the only highly ranked Motocross woman competitor crashing with serious injuries. Roland is her highly recommended physical therapist. After working together for a few weeks, they can no longer deny the sparks and chemistry boiling between them. However, dating a client is absolutely forbidden and could cost Roland. Wonderful story with great characters!
Oh. My. Goodness. I love, LOVE, the Baxter Boys. I love that they're about hope, healing and second chances. I love that they prominently feature children who also need hope, healing and second chances. I love that they focus on family and community. Dusty and Roland are amazing together! The fact that it was their tragedies which brought them together is just icing on the cake!
I would absolutely recommend this book for anyone.
Once again I wasn't sure I'd connect with this story. Dusty shows up briefly in a other book, so having a story about her seemed a bit odd. Odd or not, it was such a great story! Jessie Gussman never disappoints and Jay Dyess does the best job performing her audiobooks! I am flying through everything she has written and dread the day I am caught up. I am not one to re-read or re-listen to books, but I feel certain I will re-read and re-listen to Jessie's books often!
Another sweet romance, this time with one of the Baxter Boys' loved ones, Dusty. Dusty is a motocross racer who wants to win the championship but is in a serious accident. Roland is the physical therapist assigned to her. They have both had injuries due to accidents, but can't fight their attraction for one another. Will their pasts endanger their future together?
I had an advance reader’s copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion of the book. I really enjoyed reading Dusty’s story. I have enjoyed all the Baxter Boys books, and this one was no exception. I liked the story development and the way both Dusty and Roland work through their fears. It is definitely a must read. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
