The first part concentrates on the theoretical aspects of molecular physics, such as the vibration, rotation, electronic states, potential curves, and spectra of molecules. Die Gliederung ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig und - wahrscheinlich des Umfangs wegen - manchmal hat man das Gefühl, im Stich gelassen worden zu sein, genau wo man weitere Erklärung braucht, alles in allem aber hilfreich.
