After reuniting with Ferdinand and the others, Rozemyne returns to the temple and assiduously resumes her duties as the High Bishop. There is much for her to do—whether that be participating in the Dedication Ritual, supporting the printing industry, attending numerous meetings, or tackling a mountain of paperwork—and she soon finds her days as busy as ever.
Even as winter starts drawing to a close, Rozemyne’s world continues to change. The conclusion to her first year in the Royal Academy sees her forced into a tea party with all the other duchies, and the sixth-years among her retainers prepare to graduate. Discussions even begin to focus on Rozemyne’s future engagement, which will one day play a crucial role in the growth of the duchy.

My first review for this series that i love so much.

What can i say. Each instalment has me gripped, sometimes laughing, sometimes moved. Its always interesting to see how far the characters have come and what Myne/Rozemyne will “come up with” next. Can they handle the duchy of Ahrensbachs antagonism?

Without giving away too much, the bit i find most exciting in this volume is Myne finding a “bookworm friend”. What possibilities will that open up?

If you read the Bookworm series you probably know that it doesn’t always move very fast and that open conflict isn’t always prevalent. The same is true for this volume, but as with many of the others, there are always more than enough interesting developments in this little world to keep us entertained.

I look forward to the next instalment in December!

Es un libro lleno de despedidas amargas y futuros inciertos. Se hicieron mil promesas y otros tantos intentos de llenar huecos que quedaban, todo por ella.

As Rozemyne's first year at the academy comes to its end, she's got plenty to do in her own dutchy before returning to school to inadvertently terrorize her teachers and peers. And despite her best efforts, she's going to have to attend a few social gatherings . . .

So this volume is kind of all over the place, in a good way. We're getting a lot more of what's going on back home, including the usual High Bishop duties, Rozemyne starting to expand her printing empire to other parts of her dutchy, and some good detail on several of her retainers.

Then there's the school parts, where Rozemyne proves yet again that no matter how much her family and friends try to contain the likely damage, she'll always find a way around whatever safeguards they've got in place.

And somehow it never occurred to me that some goodbyes would be necessary. Myne has been hanging on to her lower city connections for dear life . . . but that isn't the life she leads anymore. Right now she's old enough that talks about her marriage have already started. Though Sylvester isn't completely disregarding her opinions, this is going to be a political marriage through and through. Can't say I'm fond of her husband-to-be, though.

Overall this is another fantastic volume. The series continues to flesh out its characters and world, but it stays accessible. It's funny and heart-wrenching in turns, and if Myne is constantly outside her own comfort zone, she's forcing everyone else out of theirs too. I rate this Highly Recommended.

This is what, Book 16 in the series? There has been very little swearing in these books, but then the F-bomb was dropped out of nowhere in one of the bonus stories of this volume. It did fit the situation, but it was EXTREMELY unexpected.

Other than that, I really enjoyed this volume. The cover made me really nervous with Rozemyne smiling while trying not to cry, and it certainly delivers on that promise, but I'll get there in a bit.

The Prologue is from Gil's POV, and it's nice to see a bit more of the Rozemyne Workshop and the work being done there. It makes me miss those early days all the more. Also, I can't believe how old Dirk is! I know there was the time skip, but he acts so old here (and it makes me wish to see more of Kamil). I really loved seeing Gil's POV and evolving understanding on matters.

As for the main book, be prepared for some gut punches. Maybe I knew they were coming, but it's been so long that I forgot. It especially hurts with events that happen earlier in the book, of showing just how important Lutz is to Rozemyne. Each book just has Rozemyne growing farther and farther away from the lower city, and it's hard for me to handle. I hope that's not too spoilery, but it started in the prior book, so...

But I'm getting ahead of myself again. Justus was quite hilarious in this book, and I'm eager to see more of this in the future.

While I enjoyed the first bit of this book, it instantly got better once Rozemyne was back at the Academy. I just love every moment of her interacting with people from other duchies and the ways she manages to mess things up. One moment in particular really stands out, which I'll talk about more in the bonus story (but in a vague manner).

One of my favorite moments involved Philine, and it had me on the edge of my seat. I'm eager to see how things develop there.

Then you have the big climatic moment at the end, and just... my heart can't handle it. The prior book already made me sad, and then this happens so soon after. Writing this review several days later, I'm still not over it.

The Epilogue is in Justus' POV, and it immediately follows the prior chapter. I do like this approach, as it gives a good ending spot in Rozemyne's POV while still allowing more information to be extracted out of the scene.

Now the bonus stories. First is in Lutz's POV. Again, it follows shortly after prior events. It was sad to read, but I'm really glad to see Lutz work through his emotions and problems. It ends things on a slightly happier note. It's also really interesting to see Tuuli's thoughts on everything, as her reaction surprised me yet made sense once it was explained. Oh, and this short story is where the F-word appears.

The second bonus story is from Eglantine's POV and is about an earlier event in the book. I LOVE that this moment was included in the bonus content, and I love the conclusion she and the prince come to. I don't know if it will be brought up anytime soon, but I really hope to see that future conversation.

Now the bonus comics. Rozemyne trying to explain some advanced technology to Ferdinand is funny, and the other comics were good too.

If you haven't been able to tell from this review, my thoughts are all over with this book. I really enjoyed it. It has two of my favorite moments in the entire series, but it also includes plenty of sadness. I really enjoy seeing Rozemyne adapting to her noble life and seeing more and more of how everything works, but it also makes me wish those commoner days all the more. It's funny how I can feel nostalgic for the beginning of the series when I'm not even done reading it (granted, I did watch the anime first, but...).

Overall, another excellent book. I love much of what is being set up, and I love seeing the constant trouble Rozemyne is accidently causing. Be prepared to cry, though, with that gut punch of an ending. My only real negative is the random F-word the book decided to drop. Who does that sixteen books into a relatively clean series? But the artwork was great as always. I'd say I'm eager to read more, but I've already started the next book.

It's good to be home. But what in the world is home to a bookworm stuck in an isekai narrative replete with scheming nobles, petty collaborators, persnickety royalty, and friends drifting further apart? ASCENDANCE OF A BOOKWORM v15 briefly returns to Ehrenfest, and upon apparating locally, Lady Rozemyne is beset with a multitude of responsibilities pursuant to resolving the many emotional burdens she had initially left behind.

Ehrenfest is abuzz, but perhaps not in the way Rozemyne would prefer. The printing industry is taking off in fits and starts, while the young woman's socializing skills have left the aub a nervous wreck (Sylvester: "Rozemyne, when it comes to socializing matters, you make everyone want to leap off a cliff," page 82). As such, the biggest challenge rests in anticipating what's next: dissolving old contracts and signing new ones, adhering to protocol with end-of-year ceremonies at the Royal Academy, and negotiating terms of (the printing) business with regional giebes.

ASCENDANCE OF A BOOKWORM v15 is a comfy volume. It's also a significant turning point in the protagonist's emotional journey. Is she leaving people behind? Is she being left behind by others? Will her caretakers prioritize her anxieties? Satisfy her intellectual curiosity? Will her prospective fiancé acknowledge her sensitivity to these needs?

The author addresses these and other challenges through the novel series' trademarked humor and empathy. Rozemyne's socializing is only terrible because she's a compassionate person (e.g., honesty is discouraged among nobles). And the weight of building out the printing business is only so fraught because it can go wrong in so many ways.

Intraduchy, Rozemyne must control and coordinate what might otherwise grow frenetic. Interduchy, Rozemyne's burgeoning relationship with Lady Eglantine (Klassenberg) is a delightful surprise, and serves as the support the young woman (sort of) receives in building up Ehrenfest's reputation.

The novel's biggest hurdle concerns how Rozemyne pledges to move on from her connections to the Lower City. Bigger printing business means bigger magic contracts, which means nullifying and moving on from the older, smaller relationships. Ferdinand steps in and offers a bit of compassion in lieu of his usual tough love, but that doesn't make the young woman's emotional burdens any lighter at the outset. Rozemyne fears she's becoming a different person, or fears everyone else is simply moving on or maturing at a faster rate in their lives. Who will comfort her?

ASCENDANCE OF A BOOKWORM v15 is fun and free of drama, but the book's closing chapters again position Rozemyne head-to-head with established noble culture. When apprentice layscholar Philine gets into a predicament of sorts, a debate ensues as to the responsibility of higher nobles to lend aid to those in need. The danger of leaving things be, and the precedent of adhering to those dangers, are not vicissitudes of privilege Rozemyne is willing to suffer under any circumstance. It would appear that for Rozemyne to overcome difficulties in class and status, she'll need a lot more practice and experience navigating the tribulations endemic to her own duchy.

This volume starts with an explanation of how the archduke's family tree is connected to several other duchies, a little boring to read but it is important world building information. Acquiring a schtappe might have made Rozemyne's mana even more powerful than it was before.

She is quite uninterested in romance, and judges potential suitors by who owns more books, but still accepts an engagement having already decided that arranged marriages are the norm in her position.

There were a few funny parts, like the appearance of Gudrun, but overall it kinda felt like separate short stories without a clear connection. I'm not particularly attached to Lutz, maybe that's why it didn't affect me as much as intended, but their relationship is given an important place in this story and several characters get emotional about it.

Wow, that was quite an emotional ride.

The last chapters of this book had me sobbing. I'm just a naturally teary person, like that lol but really. Whenever it comes to Myne's relationships being severed, I always just bawl my eyes out. To think that she would have to brave through everything now without comfort to fall back to, each time, I still feel sad not only for Myne but also for the many people that treasure her. The last chapter, epilogue, and the short story in Lutz' POV was simply triple whammy. The tears just went on for three whole chapters that I woke up the next day with slightly swollen eyes lol it's always painful to read about

Nonetheless, it's not all sad. Hilarious moments still peppered the book and it's always nice seeing Rozemyne wreck havoc (to her guardians' expense, of course).

So many things are still about to happen. Big waves are coming and Rozemyne is at the center of it all. There's worry and there's anticipation.

This was yet another good read, that's for sure. I haven't been reading for some time (years) now and honestly when I started reading this again, I began tearing up. It was like a Myne thing lol I couldn't help but feel happy and emotional to be diving into something I thoroughly love again.

I can't wait to read the next!

CW: there is one line of F bomb that's all.

As usual Rozemyne is busy with stuffs and also meeting nobles from other duchies and Wilfred is handling it when she is not very well and also back to her place. Once she is back she is busy but thank God Justus is there to help her and also she still need to work on with her social skills with the nobles she is still bad at that and at times said something that she shouldn't have. And also lots of nobles are eyeing on her to get married into their duchy which is why Slyvester is planning on telling the people about her engagement with Wilfred.

And also she came out with new things like the a gadget like a video camera to record the graduation. And course she accidentally got in trouble with her manas haha.. which Ferdinand stopped and lecture her again. Haha... it was so funny. Can't really spoil much but the printing is going on and also the beauty products like rinsham is given to her friends to try before selling out to them.

New friendship is made and Rozemyne couldn't contain herself when she met a bookworm just like her. Hahaha...

There is also a sad scene which made me cry but you will have to find out when you read. Can't spoil it.

This book focused more on how relationships are changing. It also goes into past history about the recent wars, which makes some things more understandable. That said, how nobles interact would make me as crazy as Rozemyne because I would hate having to always read between the lines.

It's odd because children seem to grow up much faster in this world. Getting engaged as soon as one graduates is apparently normal and some are engaged sooner. It's obvious that children are used as political pawns to cement alliances or to prevent other alliances.

The whole purpose of the Royal Academy seems to be spying on other duchies and gathering intelligence. Hurry up and finish your classes, so you can go to tea parties and come back with gossip about the others.

I dislike her vehement opinions on cross-dressing.

I hope Rosemyne gets to return to doing the things she enjoys - reading, creating books, being in the library.

This was my breaking point with the series.
The awful pacing, focus on stuff that doesn't matter but also doesn't reveal anything about the characters and general lack of stakes really got to me in this volume for some reason.

I've seen bookworm repeatedly praised for being more planned out than other takes on the kingdom building isekai setup but that planning never led to a tighter story. There's so much flab that the reader is certain to hit a breaking point before the end.
It doesn't help that the 'slice of life' stuff feels repetitive too, the temple interactions, brief moments with Myne's old family, mentions of Evlira's ferdinand obsession and marriage plots are all beats that have already been done in previous books. But they get repeated here.

Even with the 2 year coma this is still a series that would benefit from a less strictly chronological progression.

i cried! so much! i cannot help myself not to pour out my feeling here. poor rozemyne... the life of a noble sure is hard.

this book is a rollercoaster as usual. i love this series even more. kazuki-san wrote not only the happy part of becoming an archduke adopted daughter, but also the downsides of this status.

i have no negative words for this book. even though some scenes and characters are truly dislikeable, those are part of the story, so i'm glad i dislike them. meaning, this book really is a big success.

the cover is beautiful as always. the bonus comic is entertaining. the story is enticing and dynamic. i love this book. i love this series.

I'm so invested!

I had cried buckets when Myne's family was forced to sign her away, but now I cried that she was losing her only emotional support. I love the analogy part where she was asked to describe how she viewed the people in her life, especially the one with Ferdinand. I want to know more about his secrets, and the dread I felt at Eglantine's final thoughts slapped so hard. The world in this story is creeping ever so slowly into something so much more than the initial introduction to Ehrenfest. I can't wait to know more. Next please!

Every time Rozemyne lose yet even more ties with the lower city it reminded me of the brutal fact that she was technically kidnapped from her family and any warmth that a 'normal' family could have provided for her. Instead she got a noble title, tons of work and responsibility, and forced to act aloof and distant because that was what a noble expected to be. If Myne was given a chance to choose again, I wonder if she would still embark on book making journey if she knew it would cost her her family and friends.

RoseMyne Finishes up at the Academy, and has lots to do at the Castle, getting the printing industry going, and helping higher ranked students, with their love lifes. While causing lots more issues with her lack of experience with nobility.
A lot of important decisions get made in this volume, and it will be interesting to see how they play out. The Usual cast is back, and contiues to be entertaining.

"We're only gettin' older, baby
And I've been thinkin' about it lately
Does it ever drive you crazy
Just how fast the night changes?
Everything that you've ever dreamed of
Disappearing when you wake up
But there's nothing to be afraid of
Even when the night changes
It will never change me and you"
while i was reading this book the song was playing on repeat in my head and it fits perfectly for myne and lutz 😢

Love it!

Another great entry in the series. This one maybe had less action but I liked it more. It had so many laugh out loud parts which were needed as a break from the parts which made me cry. I cried several times. The author is so good at bittersweet moments. The ending though left me so nervous for the next book. I needs it now!

Too good

I like how Rozemyne continues to cause chaos throughout the Academy. I enjoyed reading the interactions between the higher ranks states. I as sad to read that part were Rozemyne wouldn't be allowed to interact freely with her downtown people. All of these marriages proposals are exciting and I think problematic.

Yet another great read

Absolutely loved. The twists and turns in this volume has made me cry and cheer for joy. It has been a grand ride through a literary rapids that drenched me in emotional torment and joy all while perfectly executing plot points that I could only call flabbergasting. I'm both elated and exhausted by the end.
