Children books are not only something which will inculcate the habit of reading from quite an early age, but they are also a great source of knowledge and responsible for imparting valuable life lessons.

The Wallflower and the Butterfly by Sallie Damron is one such book which shows us that friendship can happen between anyone, and it is not necessary that they should be coming from the same group. That no matter what your size, courage is one thing which will make you stand out.

At the starting of the book, we are introduced to our titular character, Stella, the butterfly, who right from the first glance or initiation seems like someone who is chirpy and outgoing.

True to her self, she encounters our second character from the story, Azul, a cornflower, and is immediately friends with him owing to her extrovert and unreserved nature.

As soon as she entered the house, Stella saw something which frightened her quite a bit, however she chose to ignore it at that time. But after some moments passed up, it became certainly clear for her that she had been trapped inside the house and finding a way to escape from there was going to be a difficult task.

As mentioned, it was not an easy way out for Stella, however the book shows us that if we have the right friends or right people to help us in our time of need, then even the tasks which seem to be impossible or insurmountable, become quite easy to achieve.

I would like to give a special shout out to all the beautiful and pretty illustrations through out the book, which were absolutely a treat to the eyes while reading the story. They were also the reason why the characters that were mentioned came to live and also resulted in helping us all visualize. Hence, I am going to give this book FIVE BUTTERFLY STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great read.

The Wallflower and the Butterfly, written by Sallie Damron and illustrated by Wendy Crittenden, is a beautifully illustrated chapter book that encases friendship, adventure, and fun which will delight a child's imagination to a great extent.

This story is of a butterfly named Stella who is accidentally trapped in a house. There she meets Azul, the cornflower, and Buford, the house cat. Together they form a beautiful friendship.

Stella, trying to find a way out, didn't anticipate a friendship full of love and happiness. As the story takes on a journey of three friends and their love for one another, you will find yourself smiling along the way.

Children will love this warm tale because not only does it have an engaging plot that can be a topic of further discussion, but it encourages certain good habits such as politeness, humility, courage, and invaluable morals. This imaginative story is truly captivating, and the lucid writing style will help nurture the imagination of a whole new world of possibilities and hopes, and of course, moments of pure joys. The monochrome illustrations also add a significant charm to the story making it more lively and impressive.

I'd recommend this book for a perfect cozy bedtime story. Each chapter provides something you can converse over with your kids and encourage them to voice their thoughts and opinions. It's definitely a magical book that I'm sure they'll absolutely love it. Fascinating and adorable.

Book: The wallflower and the butterfly

Author: Sallie Damron

Review: " The only way to have a friend is to be one." Greetings! dear readers. The author Sallie Damron has come up with a wonderful present for the young readers. The story features some very fascinating characters and their bond built overnight. Stella is a pretty butterfly who has long wings, Azul is a cornflower and Buford is the family cat who is Azul's best friend. As the story flows the little readers will witness how Stella got trapped inside the house which is too hard to escape and how the three shared a lovely bond with each other and worked hard to figure out the way to take her out. Also the readers will witness a tricky situation where Buford gets wrapped around something very sticky. Stella is a cheerful little butterfly who dines with her flock of butterflies every day outside the big house with the garden. She was out devouring the nectar of the flowers one day when a strong wind carried Stella through the window. And into the house with the garden. She notices the family that she has always seen while feeding. Stella explores around the house and finds something weird. Panic-stricken, she is looking for a way out of the house, but it's too difficult to find. In there Stella makes two new friends! Their tale of friendship is the sweetest.

The author does a great job bringing all these characters to life. It's creative how these characters think and interact with each other. We always read stories with people in them. But a story like this is always more fun to read. Stella makes friends with a talking flower from the wallpaper who calls himself Azul. And the family cat Buford, who she disliked at first for eating a fellow butterfly. But these three make friends soon, and together they try to figure out how to get Stella out of the house.

This story is perfect for stirring creativity and imagination in little minds. It imbibes decent moral values in children and teaches them a thing or two about how to deal with what life throws at you. Along with being educative, this book also would make for a great bedtime story. Children will love to read and hear about these vibrant characters and the happenings of their lives. Stories like these tell children the importance of friends and family and how standing together makes everything easy. Life does not always run smoothly, and the way Stella deals with those bumps in life sure gives kids a lot to learn from it.

- Do you miss the time when you would trouble your grandparents and parents to narrate stories of fairies, monsters, and other fantasies? I am sure most of you from the 90s would remember the 'Hamid Ka Chimpta'! Well, Sallie Damron has brought us an amazing bedtime story for children that has three unique characters. The story focuses on Stella the butterfly, Azul the cornflower, and Buford the family cat who end up forging a strong bond while being stuck in a house.

- Stella finds herself trapped in a house. When she is on the brink of losing hope she finds Azul, a wallpaper flower that helps her hide from the family members of the house and introduces her to Buford. They help each other and soon form a deep connection.

- It is a very sweet, heart-touching story. It was a wonderful experience to see the characters getting attached to each other. The story has moral values. It is a great read for the children. The title is apt but the cover could have been colorful especially since the book is aimed at children. Apart from this, the author has given illustrations and pictures in between the content which are very beautiful and stunning to look at.

- Highly recommended for children as it is an enjoyable read.

The wallflower and the butterfly is a unique story that I came across recently.
The way the world is narrated from the eyes of butterfly was something I found too unique.
The story is all about how a butterfly, wallflower and family cat forms a friendship bond to execute an escape plan.
The most beautiful part about this book is innocence.

Right from the beginning, It reminded me our childhood where we used to run catching a butterfly just when we used to see it without even realising it could hurt them..
The lives are different so does the way we look at them.
The Author has managed to bring lives to each and everything that conveys how every being has a feeling..
It proves to be a beautiful story that gives the readers an explosure to different mindset.

I personally loved how the little beings kept trying.
Their conversations were too cute yet sensitive for a human.
It is a perfect gift for children as they could find their new friend in these characters.
Probably this book will teach the kids to act sensibly with the fragile creatures.
I totally admired the plot.
A must read for all!

How long has it been since you've come across you granny in order to listen to a fairy tale or a bedtime story which you could remember for decades until you recite the same to your kids?
I liked this book to a truly great extent where I could easily relate with the motive the author held while narrating the tale which is both fun reading and emotional in terms of acknowledging what the book holds as the moral. Apart from being a book which could easily shift into one's bookshelf, this book holds a way to engage with the strings of the reader's heart to slip into memory box and make one thing of things right from the childhood days. Although I had a different assumption through the title, the tale yet managed to meet up with my expectations which is truly a wonderful thing. Overall, a perfect read to rely upon, during the upcoming weekend.

I'm reading a children's book after months and the experience was quite refreshing and rejuvenating. This fantasy children's book is short and can be completed in a single sitting. The story itself was amazing and the crisp narration made it all the more engaging. The book is filled with wonderful illustrations that perfectly complement the narrative thus achieving its goal of entertaining the young readers.

When Stella the Butterfly is trapped inside a house without a way to escape, she meets azul a Cornflower and a cat, with their help she tries to find a way out but it's not that easy. Stella, a butterfly, got trapped inside a house. During her attempt to find a way out she meets Azul, a wallflower, and her best friend, Buford, a cat. Soon the trio develops a cute bond of friendship between them.

It's been many years since I read a children's book. And I'm so glad that I could still enjoy this book with the same curiosity, as I used to do in my childhood. It is funny and engaging and there is no way that a child would not love it.

The author has narrated the story very well which can easily grab the attention of kids. A speaking butterfly, cat, and flower would definitely keep them hooked throughout the reading. It was funny to read from their POV. However, the book turns a bit emotional towards the end, especially since the climax was so touching.

Overall, I loved the book and strongly believe that it would be a great pick for young children.

It's been a long time since I read a lovely book for my little brother. Seeing the blurb, I felt it would be a perfect choice. Trapped inside a house, Stella, a butterfly meets Azul, a wallflower, and Buford, the family cat, and they form a cute friendship bond.

Though it is a children's book, I thoroughly enjoyed reading from the perspectives of those little creatures. It was funny as well as emotional. The illustrations were so catchy and deserve a special appreciation. And language seemed pretty good for a children's book.

Though my brother couldn't grasp all points, I'm sure he loved it. It would be a great pick for children between 5-10 years of age. The narration and dialogues are perfectly suitable for young readers. I strongly recommend it to the parents and teachers for their young children.

This superb children's book is about 3 characters who start of by trying to help each other and by the end of the book, a strong bond is created and become friends.

Stella the butterfly wants to get free from the house when she takes the help of a cornflower named Azul who lives in the kitchen wallpaper and Azuls Best friend Buford, the family cat.

Do these three manage to help each other? What's happens in the end?

It's a super sweet and wonderful story. I loved the bonding between the three of the main characters and of course the story line is really good as well written as my child was booked onto it till the very end

As an adult we forget to see a child in us. A child who runs to catch a butterfly, a child who wants to read books only for pictures and this book gave me nostalgic feels. It's been so many months reading a good story with picturization and it was a visual treat.
There comes our protagonist Miss. Have you people seen flower and butterfly speaking?. Here Butterfly has conversation with the flower is really beautiful and i felt like an escape from reality. Azul, Stella, Buford are the other characters which plays the complete story. In the middle Buford asks bumblebee where is Stella? Does Buford finds her? What happens in the end? To get answer for all these questions give a read to this amazing story.

There are 10 chapter each one has twist in it. I almost got excited seeing wallpaper flower speaks. A very good children literature book.

The world of fantasy can be experienced, lived and thought of for a very long time after reading this book. Aiden with magical powers made the destiny of this book which makes the plot a very intriguing read.

Not only adventure, but the trails of love, relationships and bounties of her undetermined future is an intricate creation to watch out. From tip to toe, the characters are well plotted and narration is aesthetically edited in an honour to give the readers a worthwhile view.

Realistically, fantasy is true in its own imagination but this book is sure to make the reader delve into the impenetrable depths of flourishing after-thoughts which the story has to offer.

I’m a grandmother who loves to read and has read many, many children’s books through the years. I loved this imaginative, well written and beautifully illustrated story of friendship and adversity. So many contemporary children’s books tend to be predictable and formulaic. This story is engaging and full of surprises. A 10 on the grandma evaluation scale.
