My entire life is my music-and all the trappings that come with it. Sex, booze, and rock 'n' roll is all I ever wanted. Touring the world as the lead singer of Balefire, I have it all. Until on hiatus, I meet the girl next door.
Ashleigh Baker is nothing like the groupies and celebrities who usually have all my attention. In her cute floppy hat with her knees stained with dirt, she spends her days creating a flowering show piece from her rented yard. She's the most gorgeous woman I've ever met, and she acts like she doesn't want a damn thing to do with me. But from the moment I laid eyes on her, she's all I can think about.
Ashleigh
Growing up the only child of an Air Force Colonel, all I wanted was to stay in one place for more than a minute. When I score a pretty little house with a long-term lease, I just want to grow my flowers and my freelancing gig as a music reviewer. Then a loud Harley wakes me from a sound sleep and I discover my neighbor is Blu Connolly. Yeah, that Blu Connolly, lead singer for my favorite band Balefire. With his killer good looks and panty-melting voice, he's a walking temptation to sin. Though I do my best to avoid him, it seems Blu has other ideas. He's on a mission to wear me down, let him in, but what happens when he stops wanting to sing for me?

This one takes place during the first book Play For Me: The Balefire Series, but it is a complete stand alone. You don't need to read the first one to enjoy this one.
Blu as a rock star always gets the girls easy, but with Ashleigh he really has to work for it. I loved how their relationship progressed and developed as they fell in love. Loved seeing all the other band mates again. I wish the drama with (sshhh not telling you who) had been cleaned up a little better. That could have been done better.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Sing for Me, the second book in the Balefire series gave the reader a front row view into the life of the lead singer for Balefire, Blu Connolly.
The events of Sing for Me coincide with what occurred in the first book, Play for Me. Blu’s fans and the media see him as the type who works and parties hard. However, what they didn’t know is that Blu is a kindhearted soul, who loves his mom world without end. A fact the reader learns when the band went on a break from touring. The first place he headed was home. Little did he know that this time around, it would change his life.
Ashleigh is a music reviewer with the Colorado Music Works blog. She hopes to one work for a top-notch magazine doing what she loves. In the meantime, while waiting to make it big, she works as a substitute teacher. She recently moved to Denver, Colorado, where her new neighbor is none other than Blu Connolly's mother.
Blu and Ashleigh’s first meeting did not go down so well. This, however, did not prevent Blu from being blown away by his mom’s gorgeous new neighbor. For the first time since becoming famous, he had to fight to get a woman to notice him. I had fun watching Blu trying to win over Ashleigh. Balefire may be her favourite band she, however, was not the stark struck type. Furthermore, she had no interest in becoming another notch on the handsome rock star bed post. However, despite all her efforts to avoid falling, Blu’s charm wore her down.
It took me some time to warm up to Ashleigh. I found her to in relation to. She was quick to believe the worst of him. However, she slowly mellowed out.
Prepare yourself for some sizzling intimate scenes. Blu and Ashleigh together burned up the pages.
Blu’s relationship with his mom was so sweet. Also enjoyed how he treated Ashleigh. No wonder she couldn’t resist him.
Conflict with two of the secondary characters arose. A conflict, which, came as no surprise given the setting of the story. However, the story ended with the issues unresolved. I expected there would be consequences for their actions, but this was not the case. That, for me, took away from the authenticity of the story.
Sing For Me is the second installment in this series. I have enjoyed each of them. Even though they can be read as standalones, I believe the reader will have more enjoyment if they read the books in order.
In this book, lead singer, Blu meets his mother's next door neighbor and is instantly smitten. The problem is that she doesn't respond to him the way women usually do, so he's not quite sure how to woo her. However, that ends up being a good thing in the long run. Ashleigh challenges Blu and makes it clear she doesn't just want to be another one night stand. She's not that type of girl.
I really enjoyed how their relationship evolved and watching them fall for one another. It was a sweet story - - albeit still quite steamy. This definitely adds strength to the overall series as we continue to add characters and their stories.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to review it and the opinions contained within are my own.
This book is the second book in Tam DeRudder Jackson's Balefire Series but can be read as a standalone. We get a peak into the characters from the first book and it definitely sparked my interest so we'll see if I get the chance to get to it!
This book is peak rockstar romance. Bad boy lead singer, Blu, sharing women, leaving women satisfied across the globe finally meets his match in the literal girl next door, Ashleigh. Well... next door to his mom, actually.
Ashleigh is a music reviewer trying to make ends meet. She rents a cute house and spends most of her time gardening and enjoying the friendship of the older woman next door. The older woman also happens to be the mother of the lead singer of one of the hottest bands around, Balefire. And Blu will be crashing at his moms place when he's off tour. Ashleigh is a fan of the band but never imagines that she'd find herself hanging out with Blu Connolly.
It starts of bumpy, their friendship... they're more like frenemies. Mostly because Ashleigh makes many assumptions about Blu and his rockstar lifestyle and behavior. What soon blossoms, because of Blu's persistence, is a strong friendship with mutual attraction. It's a slow burn because Ashleigh is protecting her heart, not wanting to be another notch on his bedpost. But Blu is determined to make her realize that she's so much more than that to him.
It was a light, fun read - I was definitely looking for some drama and some angst, to be honest. Though I enjoyed it, I wasn't as captivated as I had expected. Some things didn't feel fully realized and I wasn't sure I believed that Blu would go from multiple women one night to suddenly being completely into Ashleigh the next... I wanted to buy it but I think I needed more internal dialogue to really see how this progressed for Blu.
I did like the band members and would love to see stories for the rest of them but also want a little more emotional turmoil - I'm a sucker for the heartache and pain.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you NetGalley and Warrior Romance Press for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
3/5 stars
Ash and Blu are the typical high profile celeb and girl next door story line. They had some good banter. And I enjoyed that Ash didn’t fall head over heals with him right away. I do wish Ash had a bit more of a back bone as whatever Blu wanted she just went with. They were dating and it was hard to tell if she was okay with it or just going with it.
I really liked Blu’s mom and her being Ash’s neighbor. That was a fun dynamic. I also enjoyed that the band members were wary of Ash.
Lastly the main antagonist really should have had some consequences. It felt like the story wasn’t finished as there wasn’t any conclusion with that plot line. I also would have liked to see some scenes with how they handled being apart. There wasn’t really any angst for the reader. They fought and then boom got back together.
Overall it was a sweet romance book. I love the girl next door trope and this one was a fun read.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book was a fun and quick read for those who like their classic romance books. It's fun to just see the guy fall in lust with a girl he can't have because she's just so darn hard to get so that he does everything in his power to change his mind. It's super cheesy, but I'm also super here for it! We all need some cheese at some point!
Overall, it was fun, there was music, lots of cat and mouse chasing on Blu's part (also I love his name, Blu Blu Blu), and very steamy for the lovers of spice!
Thank you to NetGalley and Warrior Romance Press for the earc in return for an honest review.
Sing For Me is a fun romantic romp that you can read and enjoy over a few hours. As a lover of rock star romances it was great to see the famous rocker having to struggle so hard to win the heart of the girl he falls in love with, it is not usually so difficult for most of them!
Ashleigh is the usual type of girl to fall in love a a rock star. She is a quiet and unassuming, a part time teacher and music critic. Her favourite thing to do is to potter around creating a masterpiece in her garden and having lunch with her neighbour Diane who just happens to be the mother of Blu Connolly lead singer of world famous band Balefire. Even though Balefire is her favourite band and she has seen them in concert she never expects to meet her rock idol Blu Connolly until he suddenly arrives late at night on her neighbour's driveway after noisily riding his Harley up the street and she goes out to find out who is making the racket.
Despite the obvious sparks flying between them Ashleigh gives Blu the cold shoulder not wanting to be involved with a rock playboy who will leave soon and break her heart. For Blu Ashleigh is the breath of fresh air that he suddenly needs to stay alive. Their love story has it's ups and downs as Ashleigh fights her attraction to Blu and he continues to mess up reinforcing her first impressions of him. It's a fun read that will make you frustrated, laugh out loud and give you the swoons especially as Blu sings to Ashleigh while they ride his Harley.
A very enjoyable read from a talented new author for me, unfortunately I missed the first book in the series so need to go back to it, but Sing For Me can be read as a standalone.
SING FOR ME is the second instalment in Tam DeRudder Jackson’s contemporary, adult BALEFIRE erotic, rock star, romance series focusing on the rock group BALEFIRE. This is Balefire’s lead singer Blu Connolly, and part time school teacher/music reviewer Ashleigh Baker’s story line. SING FOR ME can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary .
Told from dual first person perspectives (Ashleigh and Blu) SING FOR ME follows the building romance and relationships between Balefire’s lead singer Blu Connolly, and part time school teacher/music reviewer Ashleigh Baker. Ashleigh Baker is a music reviewer, a big fan of the rock group Balefire, and good friend and neighbour to Balefire’s lead singer Blu Connolly’s mother Diane. With the band on hiatus, Blu returns to his home town to spend a few days with his mother and in doing so meets our heroine, the woman with whom Blu will fall in love but Ashleigh is well aware of Blu’s reputation with woman, and in this, Ashleigh struggles to trust the man with whom she is falling in love. When her career as a music reviewer implodes, Blu invites Ashleigh in Balefire’s new tour, a tour that will see Ashleigh return home with a broken heart, and Blu having no idea what happened or why. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Blu and Ashleigh, and the fall-out as jealousy and obsession threaten the relationship between our leading couple.
Blu Connolly never intended to settle down but meeting his mother’s neighbour stirs something deep within our storyline hero. Ashleigh is a music reviewer whose career is about to be ripped out from under her until Blu offers Ashleigh the chance of a lifetime, and with it, a chance to grow closer for our leading couple.
The relationship between Blu and Ashleigh is a frenemies to lovers as Ashleigh, albeit a fan, struggles with her attraction to, and Blu’s history as a ‘love em and leave em’ kind of guy. Refusing to fall for Blu’s attempts to seduce, Ashleigh continues to push away Blu Connolly but the heart wants something the head refuses to accept. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
Once again, we are introduced to the members of Balefire: Adam Tron, and Dakota Perri, and Jack Whitehorse and his fiancé Clio Barnes (Play for Me #1), as well as their manager Garrett Phillips, Blu’s mother Diane, and Rolling Stone reporter Benson Strauss.
SING FOR ME is a story of friendships and relationships, jealousy and betrayal, determination and love. The fast paced premise is captivating and entertaining; the romance is provocative and intense; the characters are energetic, and sassy but it took several chapters before I warmed up to Ashleigh Baker.
From the moment I read about Blu in the first book in the Balefire series I was immediately intrigued, and I also felt the same way about Dakota and Adam. All four of the Balefire rockstars own my heart. And the fact Blu has a harley motorcycle makes me so happy.
There is something so amazingly wonderful about these Balefire books that have my heart feeling so happy. The relationship between Blu and his mother, Diane, was so precious. And the relationship that Diane has with Ashleigh as a neighbor is so sweet and lovely. I loved the scene when Diane told Ashleigh about Blu coming home for a while. I honestly would have had the same reaction as Ashleigh did if is was about a band member I was fascinated by in a band I adored. Even if the guy was a playboy.
The romance between Ashleigh and Blu was so good! I couldn't get enough of it. It started out with there being tension between them and them both saying the wrong things to it then accelerating to something hot after countless attempts on Blu's part to woo her in some manner. They became friends after all the time they spent together after Blu continuously kept coming over to see her and help her fix up her house, car, and flower garden. The sexual tension between these two could be cut with a knife. Every time they did something to get on the others nerves it never doused the flame starting to burn inside them for each other. Even when Ashleigh attempted to push him away sometimes they continued to find there way back to each other.
They both found happiness with one another and it's wonderful. Blue went from being a playboy to finding love with an amazing woman. It took him some time to not be startled by feeling something so strong for Ashleigh, and for feeling jealous whenever someone else was making a move at her. I firmly believe there is someone out there for everyone that can completely rock a persons world. Ashleigh is that for Blue just as he is that for her.
I about died when it was revealed at the end of the arc for Sing For Me that the next book in the Balefire series is going to be Dakota's book! I'm so excited to see what happens for this walking one night stand since Blu, who was very much like Dakota in the playboy department, found love and true happiness with one special woman. And the fact the other main character for this book is someone we have already met makes me so happy.
For anyone that loves a motorcycle riding playboy rockstar who is also a mama's boy, a genuinely kind and a bit feisty girl next door, tension to friendship to love kind of romance, and a playboy who wants to throw all his normal actions away to solely focus on one woman you should definitely check out this book.
I had to sit on this one for a little bit before sitting down to write a review and choose a rating.
I enjoyed this book; it went by super quickly and was fast paced.
This book is told from the dual perspectives of the two main characters – a normal everyday girl who is a music reviewer along with Blu, who is the lead singer of the band Balefire. Ashleigh just happens to be Blu’s mom’s next-door neighbour who has a bit of a dislike of Blu’s reputation when he comes to visit between tours.
It’s a cute frenemies to lovers romance, that could have fulfilled all of my teenage falling-in-love-with-my-favourite-bands-lead-singer fantasies, but I was left slightly disappointed overall with it.
When everyone says it’s fast paced, they mean that it is *fast* paced. It starts, and then it’s just something after something after something. There’s never a real break in the story, and honestly, some of it was a little confusing because of the way the author chose to write it. There were key moments that were totally skipped over (Blu and Ashleigh’s first kiss? The major event towards the end?) and mentioned only in passing or looking back.
It almost seems like the author didn’t want to write the major things that happen, and just wanted to focus on the everything is happy in the end without including the real drama that clearly happened but was never explained. Not to mention the ending seemed to happen way to quickly, I wish it had been dragged out more to get more of the drama, tension, and heartbreak that would have made it all so much better in the end.
Overall, it was a good read, it was fun and cute – not as steamy as I thought it was going to be, but it was still super enjoyable.
I received a free copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Ashleigh has a very normal life. She works as a teachers and music bands reviewer and lives in a small house in Denver. What she doesn't know is that Blu Connolly, the lead singer of Balefire, is her neighbor's son. Blue is gorgeous, charismatic and seems to be a nice guy but Ashleigh doesn't want to get involve with him. She doesn't want to be just a night in Blu's life. So she is determined to resist him. And Blu is determined to have her. I really enjoyed this book. Blu made me laugh a lot of times. And I loved that Ashleigh is a normal girl. The end was a little bit rushed but I liked it anyway.
I received a copy of this book from the author via Xpresso Book Tours as part of a blog tour.
Blu is every woman's wet dream. He's the Rock God bad boy that they all wish to tame. When he comes home after a tour and stays with his mother, the girl next door is soon in his sights. Ashleigh Baker is nothing like the other women who throw themselves at him. She is stubborn and definitely determined not to fall for his charm, which only makes his determination to win her over that much stronger.
Ashleigh is a substitute teacher who writes reviews on live gigs in her spare time. She loves music, and Balefire is her favourite band. Everyone loves Blu Connelly and she is not immune, she has had the biggest crush on him for as long as she can remember. So when she finds out that she's living next door to his much loved mother, her life flips on it's head. She's determined not to be another notch in his bedpost though, and against her heart's wishes, she is more than determined not to become just another groupie to him. The problem is, Blu is persistent, and Ashleigh doesn't know how much longer she'll be able to hold out. Are they destined to crash and burn? Or is this time different?
Contemporary romance is not generally my cup of tea, but when I read the synopsis for this book, something about it just made me sign up for the tour, and I'm really glad that I did. I think I was looking for something light, fluffy and easy to read and this was all of those things, plus enjoyable to boot.
This story is probably very cliched in the general equation that it followed, but I had no issue with that whatsoever. I could have told you straight up exactly how this story was going to play out, and it didn't take away from the enjoyment one little bit. Sometimes you need something that is predictable, and this is just what the doctor ordered for me.
For the most part I really enjoyed the characters. Ashleigh was a great female lead, though I found myself getting a bit annoyed with her constantly assuming how her relationship with Blu would turn out. On the other hand though, I completely understand why she was thinking these things as well. What well balanced person wouldn't? The man of her dreams who she's had a crush on forever takes a sudden interest in her, he has a bad reputation, so of course she's going to try and protect herself from heartbreak. I just felt like she wasn't giving Blu much of a chance with the way that she was thinking, and she wasn't thinking about how that would affect him either. Blu was determined to get into Ashleigh's good graces and I really enjoyed his character as well. I loved his persistence near the ending of the story and I really loved how even though Ashleigh was being pretty unfair to him, he was still dead set on making her see that things would be different to what she thought. I really enjoyed the character of Blu's mother, and I really wish that we got to see her one more time at the end of the book when things worked out how they did. I was really looking forward to seeing her reaction, but that unfortunately didn't happen.
I feel like the story could have been fleshed out a bit more, but this was a story that was incredibly character driven so the plot really did work in it's favour. So if you're after a light, easy to read, enjoyable book that has a bit of fluff to it, and like a heavily character driven story, pick this one up, you won't be disappointed. I would happily pick up another book by this author as their narration had a wonderful flow and very lyrical feel to is which made it a breeze to read. I just had to know what was going to happen next.
As a fan of rockstar romances I jumped on this one the moment I saw its premise of opposites attracting! From that moment on I found many things to like about this book, but also a few frustrations. On a whole though readers will find this an entertaining and sizzling romance that's a nice addition to the rockstar genre.
Blu Connolly is lead singer to a world famous band, a man who seems to have it all, a man who's surrounded by groupies and all the other trappings of fame. The public sees him as a player, as does the music reviewer living next door to his mom, but as this story progresses we see a different side to him. It's a charming and determined side that goes after the girl next door in a romance that sees frenemies becoming something more. Blu's an appealing hero, one who endeared himself to me early on because of his love for his mom and their utterly cute interactions. He's obsessed with Ashleigh the minute he sees her, drawn to her complete disregard of who he is, and sets out to win her over in a journey that becomes a tug of war, a push/pull of emotions and crackling banter. Add in sizzling encounters and I was glued to the pages through all the angst, jealousy, and a truly frustrating and melodramatic "breakup" late in the story.
Ashleigh Baker's the stereotypical girl next door, the one who enjoys peace and quiet and gardening. Her recent move to a rental house has her making friends with the woman next door, a woman who happens to have a famous rockstar as her son who changes Ashleigh's life completely. Ashleigh pushes Blu away from the very start, turned off by his playboy reputation and unwilling to see him any differently. He's not one to give up easily though and what follows is a slow burn push/pull that saw jealousy and self-doubts weighing on their relationship, but Blu never giving up. For the most part I found Ashleigh a worthy heroine, someone who's determined and with a backbone. She's far too harsh though in her prejudices of Blu at times, too easily believing the worst of him and putting up unnecessary roadblocks which brought out the protective sides of Blu's bandmates....for better or worse.
By the turn of the final page I was left satisfied and mostly content as Blu and Ashleigh finally made their way back to each other. In a journey full of playful banter and teeming with sexual tension, I found myself entertained by the back and forth of their connection as it brought out a delightful side to Blu and had his mom as an equally wonderful wingman of sorts. The interactions between his mom and Ashleigh were also charming and boded well for the couple's future. Sizzling encounters were nicely balanced with sweet and tender moments full of heart and soul which pulled me into their journey even more fully. Alongside this likable main couple were the other members of Balefire, other periphery characters who inhabit this world, and I enjoyed the glimpses we got of them as they addressed their feelings regarding Ashleigh. For one character, their feelings about Ashleigh made for unnecessary melodrama, an act that they never had to pay a price for in a hastily wrapped up conclusion. This still frustrates me in all honesty and I hope the next installment deals more fully with the fallout. The storyline of this book is nothing new, but the author did a nice job with the conflict and the romance. The hero was swoon-worthy while the heroine was a tough cookie, together they had me rooting for them. The other members of Balefire seem stereotypical as well but I have hope that future installments will see them breaking the mold in a series that's starting out very well!

SING FOR ME is a story of friendships and relationships, jealousy and betrayal, determination and love. The fast paced premise is captivating and entertaining; the romance is provocative and intense; the characters are energetic, and sassy but it took several chapters before I warmed up to Ashleigh Baker.
Playboy rockstar Blu Connolly is heading home to visit his mother while his band is on hiatus from touring. He just needs a little time with his mom, some of her great cooking, and some time to be anonymous in his hometown. Blu’s plans are quickly thwarted by his mom’s new neighbor.
Ashleigh Baker has finally found a place that she can call home and put down some roots. After growing up with a military father, constantly on the move, she has found a spot where the landlord encourages her hobby of planting flowers. When Ashleigh figured out who she was living next to she never thought she would actually get to meet the lead singer for one of her all-time favorite bands. Ashleigh spends her time as a substitute teacher and freelance music reviewer.
The moment Blu arrives in the neighborhood, he loudly announces his presence by revving his motorcycle loudly late one night. Ashleigh, not caring that he is famous, comes out and tears him a new one for being rude. Blu is entranced by this angry beauty. He starts finding reasons to be around her. No matter how charming he tries to be, Ashleigh isn’t falling for it because of his reputation and she knows that eventually he will be leaving. No reason to get attached. But things don’t always go as planned.
Through women blatantly throwing themselves at Blu, he stays true to Ashleigh. She slowly starts to trust and believe that Blu can be the man she needs. When the band’s manager purposely plots to break up Blu and Ashleigh, things get explosive only the way they can in the world of rock ‘n’ roll!
There is so much good in this one. It keeps you reading. You have hope for Blu, that he really is a changed man. When you learn the reason that his mother doesn’t want to move, it gets you all misty. Excellent story. Great read!!
Blu is the lead singer for legendary rock band Balefire. He's all about sex, booze, and rock 'n' roll. With the band on a break from tour, Blu heads home to spend time with his mom. He manages to piss off the neighbor next door, who is most definitely not Old Man Smith.
Ashleigh is a music reviewer who loves gardening and the band Balefire. But when she meet's Blu, of course she's drawn to him - the man's voice causes hundreds of women to shed their panties - but she wants nothing to do with him. She can't be a one-night stand, groupie kind of girl.
What will it take for Ashleigh to give Blu a chance? Can he convince her he wants her for more than one night?
I really liked Blu & Ashleigh, they had such cute/funny banter! I just felt that the progression from "frenemies" to dating happened so quick. Blu goes from sharing groupies with his band mates to a committed relationship in the blink of an eye. I wish we got to see more of his internal deliberation and growth into only wanting to be with Ash.
I wish we got to see more of how the band comes to accept Ash with Blu. I definitely wanted to know more about the other band members, what little the reader got of them in this book didn't really sell me on the rest of the series. I wasn't chomping at the bit to read the other books to get their storylines.
The big "plot twist" that separates our main characters was almost too easily resolved and nothing was really done in response to it. I felt like with rockstars there would have been more drama!
All in all, this was a quick and easy read that made me wish for my own rockstar next door neighbor!
I received an early copy through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
Blu Connolly has the world at his finger tips, the lead singer of one of the most successful rock bands in America and the world. Girls have never been a problem and the variety is the spice of life but as the Asian tour comes to a end Blu decides to spend sometime with him mom.
Ashleigh is an army brat moving from base to base she is pleased that she has a home base and a lovely garden she can tend to and create a beautiful, tranquil space. Being friends with her next-door neighbour is a highlight on a Saturday when they indulge in lunch, she is enjoying her life. Then he comes riding into her life and will things be the same again.
Blu comes riding into his mom's street on his Harley and revving his engine to upset his mom's neighbour but when a blonde bombshell coming charging out and has a go at him, he then has a attraction to her that he can't seem to shake. As they get to know each other can Ashleigh get past the cocky image of the lead singer to the Blu who helps in her garden and is normal and sweet, you will need to read to find out.
This is the second book in this series and it is just as good as the first, with the characters that are so well developed and suited for each other. The story flows brilliantly and I am so glad to ready about Blu and Ash. Although this book can be read as a standalone story the first book in this series is just as good.
Blu and Ash have a chemistry that just jumps off the page and you get to see a different side to him from the first book, you tend to have the same attitude as Ashleigh when first meeting Blu as the arrogant lead singer but his softer side it beautiful to read.
This is the 2nd book in the Balefire Series. Even though it can be read as a standalone I do recommend reading them in order so you get a deeper understanding of all the characters and their personalities. This is a rock star romance which I love. The main characters in this book are so well written and just how you would imagine a romance with a rock star to be. Ashleigh lives a quiet life. She loves her work and lives for her garden. She knows who Blu is and is a fan of Balefire but she also knows about Blus reputation and she isn't silly enough to fall into his trap and get her heart broken. Blu is the lead singer of Balefire. His voice mesmerises and has women falling on their knees in front of him all the time. Because of this Blu has a reputation of a playboy. He has different women all the time and never pays attention to who they are. It's part of his life style and if women are prepared to drop their knickers for him when ever he asks then of courses he's going to enjoy the perk. Women are putty in his hands. Until he meets Ashleigh. She doesn't fall or go doe eyed in his presence. In fact she comes across like she hates the ground he walks on. To Blu this is a breath of fresh air and makes her more appealing to him. As their attraction grows he realises he needs her in his life to be more than just a conquest but will Ashleigh see past the reputation and the playboy image and open her heart to him?
This is a rollercoaster ride of a read. Blu messes up countless times as he learns to navigate the situation he finds himself in. This is a slow burn romance and what I love about it is that Ashleigh is strong enough to put Blu in his place. Their relationship isn't plain sailing but the journey is beautiful to watch.
Having read and enjoyed the previous book in this series I was looking forward to being back with the members of the band, Balefire, and I was not disappointed. This is lead singer Blu’s story, his entire life is his music and he loves everything that comes with it, “sex, booze and rock 'n' roll”. Whilst touring with the band Blu has his pick of female groupies and celebrities keen to be seen with him, and he’s usually fine with one night flings, until he meets Ashleigh. Ashleigh Baker is the girl next door who spends her days creating flower show pieces, in her cute floppy hat and with dirt on her knees. Unfortunately for Blu, whilst she’s all he can think about, she just wants to avoid him, and she does. Ashleigh is a freelance music reviewer, who’s happy with her little house with a much longed for long term lease. She can’t believe it when the guy on the Harley, her neighbour, is actually Blu Connolly from her favourite band. However Ashleigh is well aware of his reputation and has no plans to get involved with him, even though he’s temptation on two legs. Her plan to avoid him would be easier if Blu wasn’t on a mission to spend as much time as possible with her. This was a heartwarming opposites attract romance which kept me gripped throughout. Once again the descriptive narrative brought the characters and setting vividly to life, and made me feel apart of the Balefire bands world!
Thank you Netgalley for the egalley in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed Sing for Me. It was a bit of a slow burn romance but had a great pace. It kept me intrigued the whole time. Blu Is the lead singer of one of the biggest rock bands in the country. Because of that he has access to any girl he wants and he takes advantage of it. Until he meets the girl next door to his mom's when he visits after his tour. Ashleigh Ashley is perfectly content working her two jobs and working in the garden of her rental house. When she is woken up by someone revving their motorcycle obnoxiously loud she storms out in her robe to discover it's the lead singer of her favorite band. She tries to ignore the attraction she has to him but she soon discovers it's not that easy. Blu was such a great character. I really enjoyed his humor and his aloof attitude. The level of spice was nice too. Ashleigh was also really likeable. You could tell she really was content in her life but also had ambition. I really liked how their relationship developed and played out. This was my first book by this author and I will be watching for more. This was the second book in the Balefire series but it can definitely be read alone. However, I already plan to go back and read Jack's story and can't wait for Dakota's story.
Blu is the lead singer for the rock band Balefire and he lives up to his rockstar status with a different groupie (or two) every night, When the band goes on hiatus after a tour, Blu goes home to spend time with his mother. When he is introduced to the cute teacher next door, he is attracted to her instantly and will do everything in his power to get her into his bed. Ashleigh's favorite band is Balefire and she's shocked to find out that the lead singer's mother is her neighbour. When she meets Blu, she is drawn to him but doesn't want anything to do with him because she is not a one-night stand kinda girl. Will Blu be able to win Ashleigh over by convincing her that he wants her for more than one night?
Although I liked Blu & Ashleigh ... I just didn't love them. The storyline was good but I found it very predictable ... no surprises or twists and I love to be caught off guard. I did like that the rest of the band took a long time to warm up to Ashleigh, showing that everything was not peaches and cream. I liked the interaction between the characters, but at times I found the banter awkward.
I received an early copy courtesy of Warrior Romance Press through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.
I really enjoyed this story. The writing is smooth and the story moves along drawing the reader with it. I felt like I was dropped into their lives and felt like I k ew them. It did seem to slow down about half to three quarters of the way through making this seem a little overlong. There was too much time, in my opinion, spent on tour detailing their life. Some of that could have been omitted to keep the storyline moving and the reader mot getting bored.
The author does an excellent job building these characters. Blu with his determination to get the girl. His swoon worthy singing and thoughtfulness made him a memorable personality. His realization going from playboy to boyfriend. Ashleigh did a great job keeping her head about her. My only issue is how quickly she went back to trusting and believing him. Seemed a little unrealistic.
I want to give a “Hey” to a special character. I liked his Mom as a good secondary character. I missed how we never got her story on why she stays in the house and at her job. Anyway I love how she doesn't see him as a rockstar…just her son. That is cool! She is a positive upbeat lady.
Overall this is a wonderful read. I struggled to put it down multiple times because it is so good. I look forward to reading more in this series.
Romance lovers will quickly fall for Blu, a rock star with a gentle heart who finds himself falling for the sweet literal girl-next-door Ash. Together, they overcome their insecurities to try and find a happily ever after.
The story takes place largely in Colorado even though the characters feel like they belong in a southern romance. (Use of the endearment darlin', sweetheart..." The fact that he drives a motorcycle which seems like an impractical choice in a snowy cold state...) Blu is your typical playboy until he meets the charming Ash, who can't believe someone like Blu would ever be interested in her.
So here's what you need to know:
There's juicy sex scenes. On a scale of "We're going to hold hands" to "Shield your eyes and get the children out if the room!!," it's 100% on the far end of X rated. This is a "macho man takes possession of his woman" troupe. Readers who don't like the hero using terms like "my woman" or commanding the heroine (it's all consensual) might not connect with plot. It's a quick easy read that whisks you away for a few hours and lets you escape reality.
The second installment follows another member of Balefire Rock Band.
Blu is the lead singer of the successful Band. He has quite the reputation with the ladies. He likes variety. He is the life of the party, on and off stage.
Ashleigh is his mother's neighbour and does not do one night stands. Balefire might well be her favourite band, but she isn't prepared to be another notch on somebody's bedpost.
Blu is on hiatus and is spending the time with his mum. He decides to persue Ashleigh. He is attracted to her from the first time they meet and is not prepared for the cold reception that she gives him. He always gets what he wants which makes him more determined. Can she be swayed?
The storyline is good. Blu is on the receiving end of chasing instead of being chased. Ashley gradually warms up to him and the push and pull between them is entertaining and frustrating at the same time. There is more about the band's rapport than there was in the first book. The romance is sweet, although it doesn't reflect the full effects of their fallout. In the end all is well. A quick and easy read.
I received an eARC from Netgalley and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
Sing For Me, second book in the Balefire series, but able to be read as a stand alone book, Blu is the lead singer of his band and had everything that comes along with it - sex, booze, and rock-n-roll. While on a hiatus, Blu moves into cbildhood home and meets the girl next door, Ashleigh. She moved a lot as a kid, being the daughter of an Air Force Colonel. She just wants someplace to call home and finds a long-term lease on her place.
When Blu moves in next door, Ashleigh knows who he is right away, but does everything to ignore him. Blu sees her as a challenge and feels chemistry the second he lays eyes on her. This book follows them as Blu continues to tell Ashleigh they are dating and she tries to ignore her feelings. The chemistry is there from the moment they meet and Blu is nothing, if not honest and true to Ashleigh. The chemistry between the band mates shows true friendship as well, and shows that your friends can be your family. This book I rated as 4.5 🌟
I'd like to say a huge thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley. Thank you Netgalley.
Book two in the Balefire series.
You meet Blu Connolly and Ashleigh Baker this time round. He’s a harden rockstar with an equally wild past. She’s a substitute teacher, who’s also a music reviewer who has a passion for gardening. She lived in the house she rented next door to his mother’s house.
They meet when he rolls up to his mother’s house revving up his Harley, late one night announcing his arrival. Mind you, that was not a good impression for a first meeting, but then again, he had no idea she was even there. Eventually they got around to getting to know one another.
It had fun, spice, some suspense and some dicey characters, who’ll get it eventually, may or may not, get a lesson or end up in a coffin. It was an enjoyable read and you’ll enjoy it so when you get a chance pick up a copy and enjoy.
Sing for me by Tam Derudder Jackson is about Blu Connally and Ashleigh Baker, a love story involving a famous rockstar and an army brat that just wanted to lay down roots after traveling her whole life.
This book is about how 2 completely different people come to fall in love. Ashleigh moved into a quiet neighborhood next to Blus’ mom who spent every Saturday having lunch and tea. Then after Blus’ tour ended he comes home and is introduced to Ashleigh in a not so good way for first impressions. Blu is a bad boy with quite the reputation where Ashleigh is a respectable young lady who substitutes and does music reviews for a blog in Denver, they couldn’t be more opposite.
This book really grabs your attention from beginning to end, from heart filling moments to heart breaking. There’s jealousy and betrayal where trust is broken. Aside from the characters background, the plot and relationship is relatable to most couples today. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes this genre.
"Sing For Me" by Tan Derudder Jackson is an exquisite addition to the Balefire series, earning a solid 5 stars. This rockstar romance is a magnetic blend of relatable characters and a well-crafted plot. Lead singer Blu Connolly's journey to unexpected love with his charming neighbor Ashleigh is a refreshing departure from the usual fame-driven romance tropes. Their genuine connection and the steady build of their relationship are a testament to Jackson's mastery of character dynamics and development.
Jackson's writing style is a breath of fresh air, infusing the narrative with energy and authenticity. Whether you're diving into the series for the first time or eagerly following its progression, "Sing For Me" stands independently while seamlessly adding to the larger saga. The exploration of Blu's bond with his mother adds an extra layer of emotional resonance. In short, "Sing For Me" is an electrifying and heartwarming read that keeps the pages turning, firmly securing its place as a must-read in contemporary rockstar romance.
“I always wondered what it would feel like to make love while flying through space. Now I know it’s fucking awesome.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Happy Monday lovelies!
I received an ARC, “Sing For Me” by Tam Derudder Jackson, and friends it was so darn cute. It’s the second book in the Balefire Series and it did not disappoint. Although I’m not exactly familiar with the first book in this series, there is no doubt I will definitely be rectifying that little misstep soon.
I fell in love with Blu and Ashley. Their chemistry was off the charts, the chase was beyond entertaining, and their love? It was so REAL! I loved that Ashley played a little hard to get, and I loved that Blu was bound and determined to win over her heart at all cost.
So if you want a quick, fun, entertaining read with a hint of spice and sexiness, then I suggest picking up this read!! I can’t wait for Dakota’s story, Wild For Me, coming in November 2021!
