Broccoli and her closest friends have discovered a terrible plot...one that might spark a war between the Nesting Kingdom and the Kingdom of Sylphfree.
It’s up to the three of them to cross an entire continent in order to reach Sylphfree and undo the machinations of Broccoli’s mysterious nemesis. Navigating such a grand distance won’t be easy, however, not with dastardly sky pirates, dangerous dungeons, and adorable new friends to distract the bunch along the way! At this rate, Broccoli’s inability to get anywhere without sticking her neck into trouble is going to make Amaryllis shed feathers.
A bird that likes comfy and happy things, and also knives. Once ate a god’s eye and awakened the ability to see all that is good in the world. Known to steal shiny ideas and baubles. Currently forbidden from writing his own bios.
The series that involves a young woman being pulled from an earth like world to a fantasy world that has "dungeons" and "quests" and the like more in the Dungeons & Dragons type dungeons than the bondage dungeons theme continues.
I've liked each book in the series, and, like the prior books, I devoured the book in quick gulps and end up wanting more. And this was a 500+ book. So it probably should have taken longer to read, but, eh, I was having fun and stuff.
Enjoyed the book. One thing I disliked is that the thing I thought wouldn't happen, but could pretend could happen because nothing was being said/done that would destroy that plot line, has been confirmed by the actions in this book as being something that plan won't happen ().
Right, where was I? Broccoli and her friends continue wandering around the world. ON missions, taking side quests, visiting a Bun town (that was super cute and super fun).
I loved the way that this volume in the series introduced some bigger world politics and complications, as well as all the cool adventures Broccoli and her friends get up to. I have a few small issues with the world building, but this is just such a cozy and fun story that I found it incredibly engaging and a joy to read.
Still enjoyable, Wholesome ... I'd find it a real stretch to call it that with all the innuendo and various referring to adult situations most prevalent in the start of the book.
I liked the beginning. I felt it added a lot of context to the world. I enjoyed the dungeon at the end of the book. But the middle 50% felt a lot like rambling to fill pages.
Each of the prior books we places. Cinnamon made friends, learned, and grew. And she evolved as a person and in her skills. While she makes some friends in this book, the evolving and growing was very much and the beginning and end and very little adventure.
Kind of a jarring 365° turn - Broccoli suddenly understands that Awen has a crush on her? That completely goes against everything in the previous two books and it retroactively tarnishes the group dynamic; what's cute and sweet when Broccoli's oblivious becomes cruel she's been aware of what's going on (and still slept next to Awen, and was constantly physically affectionate with her).
Each one of these books has something that's a little bit off key (like a mention of sex toys in the previous book) and here it's the ship name, "The Beaver Cleaver." It's said repeatedly, it's crass, off-putting and not funny.
The characters continue to be great and the new characters are equally engaging. Some favorites from the first book return, which is nice. What's set up as the plot of the book is actually not; we don't end up going on the mission that the book lays out as the point of the story, which is weird.
I love this world, I love the leveling system, I love Broccoli her friends and all of the crew on the ship. This series is just a lot of fun.
“I’m sure all of this kerfuffle can be solved in a way that will make everyone happy.” “But not our bottom line,” Sebastien said. “A bottom line isn’t someone,” I said. (p. 256)
I just really love these stories. Broccoli is the best friend ever. And even though her and her friends aren't that strong yet they get so much done by cooperating and trying their best. It's just lovely to have that in a novel.
The further adventures of a bunny girl (not that kind; she'd never show that much leg) and her various and growing list of friends. Basically, more of the same. She gets an airship. She can gain skills by swapping hats. She finally gains S-rank Cleaning. There is much insanity, but that's the selling point for these books. The chapter names in this volume are particularly funny.
If I had to be mean, and I do this time, I got the feeling that the author decided to de-dumb his protagonist. She's always been written as a prototypical isekai protagonist: totally oblivious. Part way through this book, Broccoli has suddenly been aware of one of her friends' infatuation with her and is happy to see her looking elsewhere. If this wasn't all written in first person, it could work, but Broc has shown no indications of being aware prior to this book. It really came over to me as a retcon. That being said, whatever. The fun of these books is the adventure and the silliness.
Overall, this one's good. It even faces the main trio with challenges they cannot defeat on their own for once. The performance is excellent again. Sadly, I have to wait over a month for the fourth instalment.
I'm marking this book as "read" despite not actually having read the kindle release. I've been following the chapter on chapter releases of this one on Royal Road for a while now, so I've read all the chapters contained within. The first Cinnamon Bun book was my first real entré into the LitRPG world, and I absolutely adored it. Am now a bit of a litrpg addict, and this series was my gateway drug. Are the chapters covered in volume 3 as much fun as those from volume 1? I'm not sure about that. I'm still enjoying myself, although the series is starting to feel a little tired by this point. Still, I'm not going to stop reading. I'LL NEVER STOP!
Our favorite bun heroine continues her journeys. She gains a ship, a crew, friends, and a reputation. She sets out to stop a war and finds two more infected dungeons. Escorted through by a high level group, she discovers a way to cure them. Now to save the world…
It is still a well paced and well told tale. Very lighted hearted with thinly (very thinly) veiled adult jokes that pass over children’s and the heroine’s head. It is a great continuation but definitely not a stand alone. All in all an excellent read with just a few editing misses, nothing that breaks the suspension of disbelief. Enjoy!
3.5/5 Stars The first and second installments were good but in this third part for most of the series felt that it was dragging. The progression elements and skills were mentioned again like they were in the earlier books but now it's starting to feel like those nudges and extra skills won't go anywhere. Maybe, because I binged the first three books together that I am feeling the need to put this down. I might pick this up again, because the series is good but again might not, because the story didn't feel like it was going anywhere
The adventure get even more varied as Broccoli travels to even more places and picks up more adventuring partners. There's a great deal of combat in this volume as Broccoli starts to recognize the necessity of power to protect her friends even as it clashes with her pacifist nature. I love the direction the series is going, and can't wait to read more.
A whole lot of fun and just as wonderful characters. My only complaint is that there was little movement in the overall story, but lots of character growth. Hope the next one won’t take too long to be released.
Seems to drag compared to previous books. Not much happening before the very end and a dungeon that seems almost tagged on and surprisingly uninspired compared to earlier ones.
Another hilarious Bun story. I love the characters, the plot, and the setting, but most of all, I love how these books make me laugh! Dry humor with plenty of bun puns yet the story is serious enough to make you feel happy when the characters succeed.
Adventures galore this time, so many Harpies, Buns and even Silfs. There is so much going on from friendships, old and new. Dungeon dives with more of the roots corrupting the worlds and the starts of politics really making the social interactions far more complicate than needed. However Broccoli just seems to bounce straight through ever determined to make more friends and explore the world even in new ways where she can. There is so much going on in the world that it drags you in to some clean wholesome fun with enough parts that can be taken oh so many ways. A great addition to the series developing the world ever more with each addition. I cannot wait for another in this unique LITRPG leveling system.
Second and third reads of this book are for books 4 and 5 of the series, which are only on Royal Road and Patron, but are finished there. Fourth is an actual re-read.
