All I’ve ever wanted was to be a Prescott on my own accord.

I’m done being “Caleb and Jonny’s little brother.”
I’m over being “Noah Prescott’s youngest son.”
I’m ready to be Porter Prescott—period.

So tell me why—on the day I’m set to leave the state that made me—my future walked into the coffee shop I was hanging out at?

Everything draws me to her.
The way she holds herself.
The way she so clearly doesn’t give a shit.
But also, the ghosts that haunt her eyes.

I thought the fight to be Porter Prescott was hard.
Nothing prepared me for the fight that was loving Asher Scott.

Note from the Author: This is the second edition of Porter's story. The Playmaker was originally published in 2017, as Altercation and Holding / The Playmaker Duet. Please know, if you have the original duet, you do not need this edition. Any and all changes that have been made were incredibly minor. If you're new to me and my Love In All Places world, welcome to the family!

Porter and Asher have an emotional story, one that you experience right along with them. The author pulls you in, and you are privy to the highs and lows of their lives. I applauded Asher’s strength and was frustrated at times with both, but the overall story is a must-read.

Emotional Roller Coaster

Loved is not enough to give this book, walking through the twists and turns of this relationship was so interesting and raw in a way not many books are… you didn’t a get a quick fall in love and then the end. Every bit of this was earned and worth it. I’m so glad I stumbled upon the authors tik tok which led me to the Prescott brothers Porter is definitely my fave so far!

Dang this was an emotional and wild ride! Porter shocked me! He was such a brat but grew to truly be one of the best book boyfriends! I love his patience and thoughtfulness when it came to his love for Asher! With each book I read I fall more in love with Mykel’s writing!

This is the second book in this amazing series and is Porter and Asher’s story. Porter is fed up being referred to as someone’s brother or son, he wants to make in under his own steamy for himself, and on the day that he is due to leave the state he goes to a coffee shop and is instantly drawn to Asher. Asher is haunted by her demons, and with Porter at her side she becomes stronger. Fate has destined these two to become soulmates, and they complement and complete each other perfectly, as well as bringing out the best in each other. This is a well written friends / lovers’ story which pulls at the heartstrings throughout, and is filled with family, humor, emotions, and love, which leads to an entertaining and riveting page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Normally, I am a firm believer that a romance novel should not be over 500 pages…however this is one of my exceptions. This book is an emotional rollercoaster that I think everyone should ride. The patience and love Porter has for Asher is exquisite. The strength and resilience that Asher shows throughout the book is beautiful and so admirable. I feel like Mignon did an amazing job with the heavy topics that she wrote about in this book compared to other authors. I fell in love with Porter and Asher from the very first page and I can’t wait to get glimpses of them in more books. Despite being 700 pages, it still wasn’t long enough and I want more of them!

✨I 1000% recommend this book! ✨

*Before you read this book, please look at the trigger warnings because this books discusses some serious/heavy topics*

When I started reading this story I did not exercise to be pulled into such an emotional rollercoaster ride. The highs and lows. The in betweens. Asher has been through so much in her young life. She definitely needed someone like Porter in her life. When Porter loves he loves hard. No matter the situation the problems the secrets he just couldn’t let go. I enjoyed this story so much. I’ll definitely be looking into reading more from this author.

This book probably should have taken me several days to finish (given the amount of pages), but it was such a rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish to the point that I couldn’t put it down. So much growth & heartache, trust & tears, the occasional sass, and of course hockey and spice. Would definitely recommend reading, but check for any potential tw’s beforehand.
