What have they been up to in the meantime? You will have to wait and see... With a hint of pure devilish enjoyment and faces sharper than thorns, the world was going to get more than they bargained for...After all, he created immortal beings, and they were dead set on pulling the biggest murder rampage in history.Killers Amongst Us Naakaree Griffits Novella Review ★★★★Harrowing, fast-paced, unique. •Nicholas is part of Hitler’s team of scientists, performing harrowing trials on unwilling subjects during the Second World War. His aim is to create the perfect race of strong children, who are genetically disposed to murder. Two of his subjects escape and it flashes forward and back between Damian, Jesse and Nicholas in the 1940’s and 1970’s. It is a race to stop him when they find out about why they were adopted and what they were meant to become. •Once Griffits started explaining how they were all linked together, it moved very fast and the narration was excellent. Gory and thrilling, it’s not the usual genre I would read but I appreciate the storyline. I’m glad Griffits didn’t try to introduce too many characters as I feel it gave more focus to the main three.

Damn, what a read.

“Killer Amongst Us” is set between 1940s and 1970s time. I can’t exactly say what’s the plot on which it is based on since it would reveal the whole thing BUT what I can say that it was a psychological thriller which really doesn’t prepare you on what to come. I really enjoyed reading this. And just a few pages in and I read this-

“I have memories of being young, the only one in my family with auburn hair. I would get up to mischief often and my parents would punish me, telling me I was wicked. I remember this one instance, I hurt my brother; not unusual for me, yet this time he stopped breathing. I felt wickedness running through my body, enjoying the sensation.”

And this really gave me a shiver. I stopped reading for a bit and just gawked at it. The sentence was written so flippantly yet surged with such strong words, oh man. I really liked how the dark humor was added which just adjoin to the thriller.

I’ll just add a small part of blurb to let in what this book was about-

“When Santa set out to create a superior breed of beings, the end result was a society of supremely honed weapons of war. What he created, was something the world didn't see coming. He did not, however, expect them to escape, unleashing their powers onto the world before they were perfected. Santa had a wicked plan for his children, and let me tell you, you have never seen an orphanage like this one.”

From the very first pages, it would grip you.

“Are we evil?” I asked. To which he replied, “We were made evil, baby.”

It’s interesting and keeps you on edge. After reading a few chapters, we would be able to connect all the characters which were- once again -very creatively made. The experiments, super humans are not something which isn’t a possibility I think instead it’s something that there’s a high chance of happening somewhere. I liked the fact that the author didn't just add witch powers or vampires ( I have no problems with supernatural unrealistic creatures as well, mind you ) or something instead gave a realistic approach to the story which was- gotta admit - horrifying but not unfeasible. It really got me thinking as there's always a possibility of what was written to be true.

“Our dynasty. Our home. Our blood.”

Overall this was a fast read which you would most definitely finish within less than an hour and would keep thinking about it in a loop- well I did. I have no idea how the author got this concept on her mind! It was amazing and fresh honestly. I loved the cover and it perfectly depicts what the readers would get once they start the book. AND I’m really excited to read more about them, the last chapter got me thinking, is this really over after all?

Concept & Reality.

The bonds that these two words share is as unique as the words themselves. A frozen moment in time, in reality can be conceptualized and a concept about time can be brought into reality. Even if the watering of a seedling named concept looks simple enough to yield the tree of reality, its isn't as easy.

The success of a concept becoming reality lies in its execution. Execution might be a normal word but it holds the power to determine the fate of so many of a project's stakeholders.

Killer's Amongst Us is an example of a book that had a brilliant concept but lacked execution. The book tells us the tale of super humans created during WWII by a mad scientist who goes by the name Santa. The story had great potential but there were several things that played against what the book could have been.

The narrative lacked fluidity with convenient events streamed across the book. It felt manufactured at times and riddled with plot holes. The book was about 70 pages. There was less meat and lesser fluff and was more of a skeletal framework than a complete story. I also felt that if the book had been fluffed out, it would have reflected really well to the audience that it was meant to target.

When the book ended, I wasn't completely satisfied. I felt everything came together too mechanically. Nevertheless I did feel it having potential and if reworked on with the right direction, it could be a book that everyone would like instantly.

For now, I wouldn't recommend this one.

Killers amongst us by Naakaree Griffitis
🌸50 pages
🌸Kindle
🌸 Thriller Novella
BLURB-
Nicholas or Saint Nick is a mad Scientist who worked for Adolf Hitler and experimented on children in hopes to create super soldiers who were basically killing machines.
What happens when two of his experiments run away?
Jesse ran away just after delivering a child and seeming to be getting stronger. She thinks it's post partun syndrome.
Damian is a serial killer who killed nearly the whole town and then moved onto another.
They both are adopted yet remember nothing much before their so called adoption.
.
OPINION-
The cover features an Auburn haired woman with some blotches of blood around which aptly suits the story which is all about these snow white looking characters with Auburn hairs, skin as pale as snow and killer instincts.
The title too is intriguing, works well with the thriller.
The story is narrated from the point.of view of three people- Jesse, Damian and Santa. Yes, Santa as in from North pole.
The plot is new and exciting. I love thrillers but haven't seemed to read alot of them recently. This was a fresh take after tons of romance. It was fast paced and had a lot of potential which makes me want to read other works of the author. It could do with some more descriptions of the setting to go with the story but other than that I have zero complaints.
Set in 1940s and 1970s, it's a reflection of the characters present linking them to their pasts.
The characters are well sketched, with amazing descriptions of their looks as well as what they feel throughout the story. There aren't many characters, which works great as it is a novella, too many characters would only do to make it all confusing.
The language was fairly simple, and the narration smooth and engaging. It hardly took me half an hour to finish up the story as it was difficult to stop once I started reading it. It took me few chapters to grasp how everyone was connected.
I would have loved to read more on the story, about how the children escaped, and what became of them all. A full fledged novel - would be amazing, since I absolutely loved the plot and the concept of the story.
Overall, a great thriller. If you are looking for a short read which keeps you on your toes, this is it.

My feelings:

I am utterly captivated by the author's masterful writing style. This is my second foray into her works, and I simply cannot get enough of their unique writing. "Killer Amongst Us" transports us back in time to the tumultuous decades between the 1940s and 1970s, but revealing any more of the plot would spoil the intricate twists and turns that lie ahead.

“What are you doing I demanded I told you I'm going to kill you he breathes as he press the knife further cutting off my Air Supply.”

From the very first page, this book takes a hold of you and refuses to let go. As the story unfolds, we are introduced to a diverse array of characters, each with their own secrets and connections that will leave you reeling with surprise.

“The two creaky old Biddys turned onto a side street.”

The notion of experiments and superhumans may seem far-fetched, yet this novel presents it in a way that feels eerily plausible. With its lightning-fast pace, you'll devour this gripping tale within an couple of hours, but its impact will linger long after. The thought-provoking ending left me pondering: could this all really be over? I must commend the author on their inventiveness in bringing this concept to life.

“Well Mary”, I said wickedly, “it was me all along. I have been going around killing people, everybody in this dire little town. One by one I watched them drop like flies by my hand, and now it is your turn.”

Yep, that’s right, in this story the killer reveals himself right from the start...

When Damion finds out that his killing instincts are the result of genetic manipulations,he is determined to kill his crazy creator, a Nazi doctor called Nicholas aka Santa; Damion is not the only one wanting Santa dead, his siblings are also on the mission to end the mad scientist’s life. Will Damion and his siblings manage to get their revenge and can love change a murderer’s heart? .

There’s only one way to find out- you have to read this book!

Addictive, fast paced, intriguing and with the right amount of gore, Naakaree Griffits will take you inside a serial killer’s mind and you will wish you had never entered it!

Short and quick read. This book is told in the point of view of the killers (3) total! I was hooked then the story changes. It took me about half way through to understand how each killer connected to the other. If you are looking for a read to entertain you during an afternoon at the pool this is the one! *it is a bit gory so be prepared!

Thank you @naakaree for gifting me an e-copy of your story, it was an exciting read! •

Nazi Santa makes killer elves, and then shit gets weird... REALLY WEIRD. Included in Kindle Unlimited, so probably the best shitty book to read this season if you're feeling adventurous and can ignore grammar mistakes lol.

Necessary nerd note: Snow does NOT have DNA. Snow is water. You don't have to be a scientist to know better. *cringe*

🍂I got a lot of attention, this book I love trillers and the story is not very common, it caught me from the beginning, there are also very few chapters, which you cannot take anything to finish, it is also told from the perspective of the killer, which is very interesting, I liked the ending although I expected more action, And I was surprised by that peaceful ending. it looks like a continuation.
🌿Thanks to the author for sending me the book 🤗 ( instagram : girasol_lector)
