Intercepted
The McLean’s are a farming family in Central North Carolina who believe in family, football and a deep faith in God that transcends every aspect of their lives; all of them, that is, except for their youngest son, Veeder. Intercepted captures the coming-of-age story of a young man making his way in the world. The highs, the lows, the crossroads, and the moments when he has to face the reality of a broken world and decide whether or not he is willing to accept the love of God. Jesus is with Veeder in every moment of his life, while walking on mountaintops as he basks in his rising fame as a star quarterback as well as when he must walk through the valley of darkness in the most challenging times of his life. It is never Jesus who fails to be present, it is Veeder who is unwilling to accept God’s love until one fateful day when a promise to Veeder’s grandmother is fulfilled. It is in that quintessential moment that Veeder will have to face the truth about the deception of free will and be faced with a decision that will impact the rest of his life.

Doug Veeder
2 books8 followersBorn in New York City, Doug grew up in Connecticut while still exploring the city he called home. He spent a lot of his youth exploring his imagination. He dabbled in plays, screen plays, poetry, lyricism, essays, writing stories, and singing in various bands.
After graduating from Roger Williams College, Doug went on to work for educational non-profits and school systems. He never lost his enthusiasm for writing, creating, and performing, though. Over the years, Doug has been a writer, an actor, a lead
singer, a comedian, a DJ, a fantasy football commissioner, a poet, a lyricist, and a really bad guitarist. He finally honed all of those skills so he could teach middle school students and bring education to life for the next generation.

How many of us have a know it all in our lives? Sometimes you have to let go and hold them in your heart and prayers and beg God to let them learn from their mistakes and grow into a happy, healthy person.
This is not a football book, this is a book that gives you hope. Is it a Christian book? Yes. It is a book for someone that doesn't believe? Absolutely. This book is filled with hope and love. From a tight knit family giving their hope and love to friends and mostly God that give us the hope of eternal life.
I recommend that this is a present you will want to give for all to read.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED!!!
I am so fired up after reading this story and I want to share it with everyone! COVID has impacted all our lives in such crazy ways over this past year, and this book reminds me that even when our life plan isn’t going the way we wish, HIS plan is always in motion. The characters and writing in this story is impeccable. THIS IS MORE THAN JUST A FOOTBALL BOOK. It’s got football, and romance, and action, and adventure and combines all of these elements together perfectly into something truly special. I’ve never read anything quite like it!

This book was recommended to me for a twelve book challenge. I was reluctant because I knew nothing about the book or about the author.
I will never be able to thank the person who recommended it to me enough! I’ve been sobbing since the middle of the story and I’m still an emotional wreck!
Intercepted is the story of the McLean family. They have a strong faith in God and a strong love for each other. With one exception. The youngest loves his family passionately.
God? Not so much.
It’s a coming of age story that packs an emotional punch. Veeder (I know—weird name for a kid) is the focus of the story, but his family have starring roles as well. It’s an ensemble cast that you will fall head over heels for.
I had to keep reminding myself that they’re not real! It’s a journey I’m so glad I experienced. Traveling with the McLeans has changed me and deepened my faith. I cannot believe I almost missed out.

Unforgettable
Wow, the Author wrote a great story! Chose a topic most of us enjoy watching, football. It's about a young boy who believes everything he accomplishes is due to his good work and training. He has a loving and supportive family who raised him in the church yet he has chosen not to believe in God. I invite you to read all the twists and turns through this story and see how his life turns out.

Different
I liked the characters, the way the family interacted with each other. I think it could've shown a little more of Veeders personality changing, because at one point he's this lonely kid, next thing they're saying how arrogant he is, but not really showing you. Overall I enjoyed it.

A mother makes a promise that her youngest son will never play football, believing he's too small and not strong enough. He become an arrogant football star who wants nothing to do with God, even though his girlfriend is a Christian. Severe trials eventually lead to his redemption story.

I am not a football fan but I still enjoyed this book. I love how Jesus is presented in the story. A good book to share with a non-Christian friend!

I found "Intercepted" though my Kindle Unlimited subscription. Overall, I thought it was an exceptional book, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The book was well-written and the characters were easy to like. I enjoyed that the story traveled through several pivotal years in the main character Veeder's life. I also enjoyed that the Christian themes in the book were written in a natural manner that didn't come across as preachy or unrealistic. I love when authors have the skill to weave the gospel message through the book in an organic and pleasing way, and this author accomplished it nicely.
I did take off one star for the profanity in the book. The profanity wasn't excessive, maybe four or five words in entirety, from some of the non-Christian characters. I understand that some books, even Christian fiction, are grittier in nature than others, but I read Christian fiction not only for the Christian themes and the Gospel message, but also to protect myself from profanity and other unsavory elements that is included in most secular fiction these days. So, for readers who are sensitive to such words, please be aware that this book does contain minor profanity words.
All-in-all, I highly recommend this book!
