This issue is pretty much exactly what you would have expected.
But I cannot fathom how the writers are going the way they're going with Wanda, Wiccan, and Speed. In this issue, Wiccan tells Wanda that he has been defending her his "whole life." How is that possible? He only learned he was somehow the spiritual reincarnation of her son when he was around age 16. Before that, I'm sure he knew of the Scarlet Witch because he was a fanboy who loved all the Avengers. But, seriously? Defending her his whole life? What is that based on? Then, he says that Wanda taught him so much about magic.
WHEN? WHEN THE FUCK DID WANDA TEACH HIM ANYTHING ABOUT MAGIC!?
Billy's powers arguably aren't even "real" magic. He's more like a reality warper. Sure, he has learned SOME about magic from hanging out with Loki and/or Dr. Strange. But at their most basic, Billy's powers are self-taught and ridiculously easy to use. He just speaks aloud his intent for what he wants to happen. It's not really a "spell" for him to say that he wants the bad guy to go away, and then that teleports the bad guy away. There was no intensive study of the history and/or physics of magic.
But more importantly, BILLY HAS ONLY BEEN IN THE SAME ROOM AS WANDA 3 FUCKING TIMES BEFORE THIS EVENT STARTED. And of those 3 occasions, the only time they had a meaningful conversation and were both aware of their supposed status with each other, was back during Avengers: The Children's Crusade.
That's it. These two have not been hanging out since then. We have never seen them go on a mother-son shopping trip, or lounging around Avengers Mansion gabbing. Those things just never fucking happened.
Now that there 3 Wandas vis-à-vis only 1 dead one, does this mean that Magneto is absolved? More question coming.
Will there be a trial of Magneto? Why is this mini-series called as such? Do I even want to read the next issue to see Wanda's revelation? Should I even care?
You're telling me Wanda overcame all of her traumas and lifetime of mental health issues in, like, half a comic page? Wow. I would love to be a comic book character. #s
Errr.... Wanda didn't actually die (she says this at one point) so.... Ok....
She hates herself for what she has done and reconciles her guilt as most normal folk do by fighting her made up mind monsters.
Something.... Something else...
I think my brain has died reading this, I honestly could not give the beginnings of a shit anymore about who killed/didn't kill Wanda in the eternal Marvel drama of nothing actually happens. It's like a game of football (soccer) with an indefinite time period for the match and all they do is pass in circles around the centre circle forever.
Finally the plot holes are getting fixed, now this makes me look forward to the last issue. Now that the situation is taken care of it Time for the confrontation i presume...
Williams seems to forget that Wanda had a bunch of development back in 2015, and has been in other things besides House of M. I swear ToM gets worse as it goes.
Better read. But damn still crazy. Feel this story shouldn’t have been told if it wasn’t going to stick or have lasting consequences. Think it was just to end the gala in shock value. Also Wanda is wayyyy to powerful and unstable to be in situations like this. She need a home out somewhere in the country where she isn’t bothered and to be depowered by half.
"For a single, incandescent moment, I am nothing but awake and alive. Holding my wrist up in the morning light and marvelling without understanding my ownership of it."
Oh, boy...
Where to begin?
I get what this issue is TRYING to say, but it's just so poorly paced and executed.
Having not much awareness of Tommy and Billy, I feel their addition, and focus is largely due to a mandate from the editor as WandaVision was airing, instead of a well rounded story.
Less about character, more about trying to get the reader to buy this because Scarlet Witch was trending.
I really needed a story about the forgiving of yourself. I'm not even close to that but I still needed to hear it. I wonder if I would have enjoyed it as much if I wasn't so familiar with the feeling of self-loathing. The story and the artwork are superb here. And the literal compartmentalization Wanda is experiencing is relatable. My prediction is she killed herself. With really unfortunate timing.
WOW.. I really LOVE this issue and I LOVE how Wanda was able to forgive herself and accept what happened. When she resurrected herself though....(BADASS)

Best issue of the series so far to be honest. Don't know why it's called Trial of Magneto when really it is Wandas book. The art can be a bit tough to follow at times as well.
