She Likes Piña Coladas

Wanted: Hot Stranger For Vacation

It started with a simple message from the man known as Pina Coladas: Message me and Escape. After dumping my apartment-stealing boyfriend and rooming with my best friend’s dog, the promise of fruity drinks, dancing in the rain, and maybe even a midnight romp, leaves me singing a familiar tune, excited to travel to the Azores with the stranger who answered my wanted ad.

When Jack, aka Mr. Perfect, aka the one who got away, shows up at the airport, I’m left to wonder if this is just another one of life’s dirty pranks.

Jack isn’t only hot, he’s a fighter pilot with a sense of humor and blue eyes that make my butterflies dance. He’s saying all the right things and sending sparks in every direction he looks, asking me to take all sorts of risks—like swimming in hot springs, jumping in mysterious pools, and giving him a second chance. But he still hasn’t told me why he disappeared in the first place.

After a sip, or twenty, of sangria, I’ll happily explore the cafés and the beaches and possibly even Jack’s calves, but what I absolutely, positively will not do is fall for Jack—again.

Authors Note: She Likes Pina Coladas is a full-length, standalone, steamy and humorous contemporary read featuring a second chance at romance.

Looks like I'm in minority here but I didn't enjoy this book very much.
What first drew me to it was the blurb. It sounded exactly like something I would enjoy greatly. It started off good but then the more I read the less I liked it and about half way through I started skimming just to get to the end. Based on the blurb I was expecting more. On top of that I had a hard time connecting to Charlotte from the get-go. And the chemistry between Jack and Charlotte, I did not feel it, at all (the 'love at first sight' nonsense didn't help at all) - but, they were sweet together in the end. I really disliked how unrealistic this book was. Seemed so unbelievable that these two people connected so quickly, and with the way they first met. I just found it unnatural and forced. I enjoyed some parts of the book anyway. But other parts were a catastrophe for me and I didn’t enjoy them at all. It was disappointing because it was either really good or really bad. There was no inbetween. I also feel like the plot was not flowing. That's why the book dragged and I had to push myself to finish it. And on top of all that, the writing style didn't suit me.
Oh well, I loved the concept but I don't think the execution was the best.

***I received this book for free from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

If you're looking for something sweet with a side of funny and an extra serving of sexy swoon, look no further! She likes Pina coladas was my perfect romantic comedy read! It was laugh out loud funny mixed expertly with a charming storyline, relatable characters and just the right amount of drama. Super sweet, light, and quick read.

Jack is a sweetheart and as the reader you get more insight into what happened in his past. Charlotte is trying to find herself. And the banter between the two had me smiling from ear to ear.

There is a bunch of back and forth between the characters mostly because of misunderstandings, but that does happen more in real life more than we want to acknowledge.

It was a great read and I loved the ending! 🥰

Now I’m ready to go on a tropical vacation and drink some pina coladas 😂

This debut novel hits all the right feels. Definitely a rom com, but that doesn't mean that Jack and Charlotte's journey to love is simple. Their flaws and road bumps along the way to love make this romantic island adventure feel real. And who doesn't love a broken man finding the courage to fix himself and become the man his woman deserves?

* vacation romance

This was probably one of the corniest and frustrating books I've read in so long. I'm the type of person who HAS to finish a book if I start it and that is literally the only reason I read the entire book. The heroine was so wishy washy and boring and the hero wasn't much better. It's sweet and sappy so if you like that, then this book is probably for you but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

This book is a great second chance romance and I absolutely love the chemistry between Charlotte and Jack. These two had a chance encounter on St Patricks day, shortly before Jack was set to deploy oversees. It takes 6 years for their paths to cross again & I love the journey that unfolds for these two.

I love how these two end up on a trip to the Azores together & the growth that Jack goes through thanks to Charlotte. These two are a perfect fit together and Charlotte’s luck has me cracking up so many times.

Wonderful book & I will have to check out others by this author.

A Vacation Romance with a second chance at love.
Charlotte met her Mr perfect drunk one St Patrick's day. Never saw him again. No name nothing just remembering him perfectly sweet he was and the conversations they shared.
Forever haunted by that memory she never found "Mr. Right"
Jack "Mr Righ" left never said a word. But paths cross again with a mutual friend and a trip to the Azores.

Their relationship isn't easy Jack is haunted my the things in his last which was part of why he left.
Charlotte is still wondering what happen that night.

I loved finding out about Jack's family and about his past which led to who he is now.
Charlotte growing to find herself.
Ove a great book I can't wait to read the next one!

Definitely a rom-com

Okay so if you took Spanish Love Deception and made it groveling after one night where the main characters met six years ago and spent the next years comparing everyone to their one sexless swoon filled night, you get this. I will say it took me several attempts to start this but the attention to detail was appreciated rather than cumbersome. By about 30 pages in, I was vested. I actually really enjoyed this story and will look for more from this author in the future.

Such a great read. The chemistry between Jack and Charlotte is very engaging, the characters are well-written and so enjoyable to meet. PTSD is handled sensitively and well. And best of all, it's set in the Azores, which has just moved to the top of my must-see list.

If I have any complaint, I was occasionally frustrated by the will they/won't they back and forth, but the HEA makes it well worth the wait. A delightful vacation romance!

Sexy and sweet (like the drinks Jack likes!) start to the series

This is one of those books that I kept getting mad at life for interrupting my reading time. Once I started, I didn't want to stop, constantly wanting to see how Jack and Charlotte would overcome their personal obstacles and find a way to let each other in. This was a beautiful story with as much sass as there was emotional punch. And, of course, now I just want to book a vacation to Azores and love my best life.

3.5 ⭐ 2 🌶️ Fluffy, fast-paced, and fun. Jack and Charlotte were cute and I love the reconnection, even if it is a bit creepy.

For 28, Charlotte is a bit immature. Her self doubt is realistic, but annoying. Yes, we've all fallen into the same patterns with the same people. But she is constantly talking herself in and out of "love" (over the course of a week) with this dude she had a great night with when she was 22. A WEEK! Sis, you're afraid to share a room with him because of the bathroom situation. Everybody poops! At 28, you know this!

Jack is an Air Force veteran with obvious PTSD who has pined for Charlotte since their one amazing night together years ago. Hasn't stopped him from living life, just from establishing anything meaningful. Discovering after 6 years that they have mutual best friends (how did they NOT figure this out sooner?) he decides to reach out to her via a dating site? He tells her who he is, but not that they already know each other, which is a little annoying.

On a shared adventure vacation together, they don't exactly waste time getting with it. And then BOOM. They're ridiculously in love.

Like I said, this is super fast-paced. But it is fun, and fluffy and kind of funny with some heartfelt moments and great quotes. Minus 1 star for the breath she didn't realize she was holding. Minus 1 star for the annoying indecisiveness/immaturity of FMC. Minus .5 star for co-dependence with best friends.

I could not say that the story line was so so good but it is good but theres repetitive and longing story in the middle of reading Charlotte & Jack stories. It keeps going back and forth.

But still the last chapter of this book do make me cry. It is so beautiful. When the issue started to sort out, I love every single of it.

I love drama and chaos but here its too much and repetitive.

Still, beautiful ending...

This one had potential to be a great read BUT alas it failed miserably.. two grown folks 32 and 28 acting like immature 15 year olds just isn’t for me … TALK for gods sake…. COMMUNICATE like two grown adults. So much of this book irritated me beyond belief… I was so mad by 63% I just gave up… so idk what happened after that because I barely skimmed at best …. I had enough …. I kept hoping for them to stop with the immature back and forth of avoidance and stupid crap…. But at 63% I was done

This was a fun, light read and I always love the trope of two strangers (but in this case, not REALLY strangers) vacationing together. Forced proximity is my jam.

While I enjoyed the premise, I didn’t find myself connecting with the relationship — it was a bit too Insta-lovey for my tastes, but the banter and angst kept me invested.

Overall, if you want a well-paced second-chance, forced proximity romance, definitely check it out!

Cute cute cute

Sassy (Charlotte) and Mav (Jack) get their second chance 6 years after their "perfect night" when they were younger. They go on holiday together for a dream vacation and fight for the magic that was their love at first sight all those years ago...

This was not great. It just felt like we jumped around a bit on thinking, the constant back and forth on how the FMC was feeling was dragging on for me, and I hate when the HEA is literally the last thing you read. I just want more from an ending.

It started off exciting and then it just sort of went around and around with the same issues. I know that’s possibly realistic for people’s real trauma and communication problems but on the page felt repetitive and a bit frustrating.

Maybe my hopes were too high because I love the Boston bolts feel good sweet vibes but the yoyo-Ing that both of them do was infuriating. From the end of one chapter saying I’m going to try to the very next time they’re given the chance they immediately don’t try.

Literally on page 320 she says “I’m not sure I can trust him” and on page 321 she says “I trust him completely” the flip flop from literal page to page from both MMCs was dizzying.

I felt like it could have been shorter and I really was having fun in the middle but by the time we hit the last round of a nonstop bad communication loop I was ready to be done.

And where was the spice that was in the epilogue in the rest of the book?!

I know Pat and Sarah are supposed to be couple goals but Pat kinda sucks. Actually Pat really sucks.

I did really like the descriptions of the island and setting. It gave me what I wanted from a summer read in terms of imagery.

Fun palet cleaner. I was in a reading slump and this took me right out.

The story was unnecessary long tho. And the miscommunication thing was getting old real quick. Also not loving the best friend for putting in het advise without it being nessecery.

Ehh... I honestly skipped around a bit, got very VERY frustrated at points with both of the characters- sometimes especially when the things they did made absolutely NO logical sense - the constant back and forth just gets exhausting.

LIke, yeah, it's cute and sweet at times, a bit awkward when trying to be "sexy" because it's a bit, um, weird, but ehh. For what it promised, I supposed you get what you see. But, in my case, I'm sticking to the song and try to forget this novel. I think the only good thing about it was that it made me want to travel to Portgual.

Also wanted to add, the only thing that will stick with me from this novel is this: NEVER METTLE INTO SOMEBODY ELSE'S RELATIONSHIP. Thank God I learned that this way rather than in actual life with real and, most likely, terrible consequences.

Six years ago, Charlotte spent an evening with a stranger so perfect, she knew they were destined to be together. But the next morning he’d vanished, leaving no contact details and taking her dreams with him. Since that fateful night, everyone she’s ever dated has been compared to the mystery man, and they’ve always fallen short. Now she’s living in her best friend’s apartment after her latest boyfriend stole hers, and she’s desperate to get away from everything.

Seeing an ad for the Azores, she decides she’s going to go there on holiday. All she needs is a companion who speaks Portuguese. But when she turns up at the airport, her travel buddy is none other than Mr one-who-got-away. Sparks fly again, but does he remember her? And why did he run away all those years ago?

She Likes Pina Coladas is a fabulously sweet and swoony summer read. I was caught up in Charlotte’s character and story and taken on a wonderful journey, falling in love with the Azores as well as Jack, the hot AF fighter pilot. If you’re after the perfect getaway, with heart, humour and heat then you’re going to love this book!

4⭐️

Jack and Charlotte meet one evening on St Patricks day during her college years. He notices she has had too much to drink and steps in to help her get home. They end up having a very platonic yet life changing evening that ends back in her dorm falling asleep in his arms.
He however, leaves and walks out of her life for 6 years.

For six years they both live in the shadows of that night. Comparing everyone they meet to each other and always coming up short. Until Charlotte decides to take the trip of a lifetime and recruits a companion. Jack. However she doesn’t know its him.
Jack is an Air Force pilot living with the nightmare of an event that occurred while serving and one that changed his life forever.
This was heartbreaking because of the realness of what happens to our military men and women.
Jack and Charlotte embark on this trip but each fighting their own demons. Charlotte with the insecurity of being able to trust him because of he keeps repeatedly hurting her and Jack with not being able to be everything she needs because of his past and the damaged it caused.
Watching them go through that was exasperating at times and I found myself screaming at them but at the same time I rooted for them and completely feel in love with them.
Jack has such a pure heart for her and Charlotte was so relatable in how she handled her feelings.
This takes place in Azores which Brittanee did such an amazing job at detailing and making me feel like I was there!
I must visit the Azores now!

QUOTES:

“ The absolute truth is I fell hard for you that night. I don’t think there is another way to explain it other than my butterflies were attracted to yours.”

Such a fun and sweet read!! This book has it all - a sweet and sexy romance, beautiful setting, and hilarious characters. I loved Charlotte and Jack’s story, usually I’m not a big lover/believer of “love at first sight” but the author somehow made me believe in it for Charlotte and Jack. I sometimes thought that Charlotte and Jack’s emotions/actions were all over the place and hard to follow and while that is definitely understandable given their whirlwind romance, as the reader, I wish I was clued in a bit more. Nonetheless, a lovely lighthearted read that I would definitely recommend. The setting of the Azores was perfect! Personally had never heard of it before reading but now it’s on my Travel List - I loved that the setting wasn’t a more mainstream location that we see overused in novels. Another strong point of this book was its supporting characters!! I loved everyone from Steph/Pat to Jack’s Great Aunt and adored Belle. I found myself wanting to read more about her and her chance at love so was thrilled at the end to see she has her own book coming out soon! I’ll be reading any books that follow this one for sure!

Special thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and author for the digital ARC. Congrats on a great debut novel!
