A crown of smoke and ash is the second book in the Shadow walkers saga.

Remy is back and the heat is turning up. After the betrayal discovered in book one, Remy is ready to adapt to her new family. With love, lust and loyalty comes a world worth fighting for. This series has a lot of fantasy favourite elements mixed into one. We have angels, lycans, witches and demons. Remy has a great support group in this reverse harem romance saga. The piece are beginning to slide into place and we get some more memories as well as new developments. The ending sets up the next book and I look forward to reading more.

The chemistry between the characters is enough to give you a hot flush, Remy is beginning to find her warrior feet and we are settling into the world of shadow walkers.

Paranormal romance with a world to discover.

ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I couldn't finish this book. I loved the first book and automatically got sucked into the story, but the second book was a lot harder to get through. There were a lot of inconsistencies throughout the book. One scene that sticks out to me is when Remy is facing off with the female alpha, she used obsidian blades because the iridium blades were poisonous to Lycans. However, in the previous book, Kain had given her the iridium blades because it was poisonous to Dracul. The book was tough to connect with because instances like this, I wanted to read this book. The story is fantastic, but having to go back and forth between pages because the details weren't adding up, took me out of the story.

The author sends us on a journey into another dimension filled with  Draculs, Lycans, Witches, Angels, Hunters, demons, humans and hybrids. An amazing reverse harem saga that will suck you in from the first book craving more like a mini tv series. Incredible storyline. Fabulous characters.
I suggest you check out the Shadow Weaver Series which is part of the Shadow Walkers Saga.

My interest in this series dropped while reading this book. It started out good but not great and dwindled around the 50% mark. I stuck it out and kept reading but by the end I was just glad it was time to start a new book. I would probably tell people this is a decent enough fantasy romance with lots of smut but that it is a bit drawn out. I will not be continuing to read the series after this one but I can see why people like it. It just isn't for me.

Remy is back, better than before! She is cloaked by an Angel, guarded by a lycan, enraptured by a Dracul, and cherished by a hunter, each one her mate.
This second book in the Shadow Walkers Saga redefines the need for sharing and keeping the peace in a house full of alpha males. Each mate represents a faction that is trying to come to terms with the revolt and shift in power that could end life, or the lives of all. Remy is convinced that there’s more to her bond with each man/beast in her life and she will stop at nothing to find out the truth in who betrayed her.
An engaging, breathtaking story that will chill you to the bone and set your heart on fire!

Disappointing follow up, so many plot holes

This was a real disappointment after book 1. All of the twists, for the most part, became pretty predictable, the cliffhanger doesn't leave me wanting to see if things are resolved at all, because, duh, they will be, and the whole question is oh no! Can we stop the big bad. Again, duh, they are going to stop the big bad. There is zero build up to the final big bad. We don't spend books fighting smaller bad leading to the ultimate plan. This entire books isn't a battle against the counsel as it goes up against it's creator, trying to convince its people the creator has turned evil, with Remy finally producing the proof and then winning over her hunters just in time for Roman to be betrayed by someone in the pack, so all of book three is fighting that battle, and just when they have them, boom, Kain's nest is unsettled. Maybe it is some unhappy hunters from book 2, maybe it is the witches, because we still need to deal with them. And then, just when they think they have the big bad, ball drop, it's a minor big bad and you bring on the hybreds. There is mystery involved when you break things down that way. This way, where you know the big bad from the very beginning, there is nothing to make me invested or keep me reading.

Possible spoilers. I'm don't remember where book 1 left off.

So...there are only three generations? Book 1 mentions that they are reborn in cycles and always to the same family. Remy's grandfather is on the council, when he dies her dad takes over until grandpa is old enough to take over again, and then there is Remy's generation, who can also have kids. Is Remy's grandfather born as one of her brother's sons? Is there an additional generation that is just not included in the story at all?

Also, 21 was REALLY old when the hunters first came into existence. As in you would have been married for seven or so years already and be preparing to die in another decade or so old. 21 is a convientient age for the modern setting of the story but makes zero sense for the foundational background. Literally all of the hunters would have been married and popping out kids prior to having their memories reawoken until about the 1980s.

And then there is the fact that none of the problems that exist in this book surrounding the Hunters should be an issue. Levi is the one who created them. They literally worship him as a god, because he is their god. When at the end of book 1 Levi drops in and is like Hunters no, Remy is protected by me, the Hunters should have all dropped to their feet worshipping her. The only way that doesn't happen is if there is a faction of the Hunters who no longer follow Levi, but that doesn't happen here. They still revere Levi but somehow Remy is a who re and evil and cast out? Literally no. Also, the show down with the Hunters, again, Levi shows up and says this is happening, no discussion. This. Is. Their. God. Telling. Them. The. What. What. For a group of fanatics such as the Hunters there would be no distraction.

The oh my god yes, i will agree to anything you demand so long as I get the eggplant is just pathetic and so not in line with the strong, independent character that Remy otherwise is. Plus the scenes are poorly written. Monsoons abound 🙄

Remy spends time with each of the factions in this book, and each time she is nervous, and only one or two people know her, but in past lives Remy has spent significant amounts of time living with each of these factions, so she doesn't have an entire faction to win over, and there should have been centuries of those who met Remy talking her up to the factions especially as it was known she was bound to their leader.

3.5/5 Stars

If you don't look at the finer details of the book, its an enjoyable read. I feel like quality of quantity of smutty scenes is important. There are so many smutty scenes, but they feel rushed and not high quality. Also, I dislike that there is so much petty jealousness in this book. First Serafina has a thing for Levi, and then someone challenges both Roman and her because they don't think she is fit enough to be Roman's mate. And then at the vampire castle, it happens again with one of his general's making a comment of the show that he put on. Like gag, I feel like this didn't need to be included. Also, what is with her having a past with one of his other generals? Like she already has her harem, so I felt like it was unnecessary to bring a scene with a past lover that she doesn't even remember be he does. It gives me the ick. Also I feel like there wasn't enough suspense, like everything went their way. Every meeting went perfect, everyone was always agreeing, their was no ambush, no one tried to attack her in this book (excluding the one challenge).

Whilst I enjoyed this book I do have a few gripes.

I found inconsistencies between this book and the first. When remi and Roman fly to meet the packs Remi state shes never flown before, however in the first book shed been away for the weekend with Jack and flown on his dads private jet. Also the fight with the female alpha Remi was using obsidian blades because she didn't want to kill her. It was previously told that obsidian is poisonous to lycans. I feel like the author needs to take more care with continuity.
Also I love a good steamy book but the amount of sex was a little too much, even for me! I found myself skipping pages at thecsex scenes after the first few.
Even though I have some issues with some of this book I still like the story line and where it seems to be heading so will continue with the series, I just hope it's more consistent with previous details......

This is the 2nd book in the Shadow Walker Saga and boy was this just as addicting as the first book. I am so hooked on this series it has me craving more of these character's. We get more of Remy's past lives and the secret of how it all began and boy howdy I couldn't say I was surprised, but with every secret that's revealed we get another piece of the puzzle, but not the whole picture, because something is coming and it's going to take everything Remy and her guy's and more have to give. I absolutely need that next book to find out what's going tp happen next, because that ending came to soon.

I would highly recommend this series it's just so addicting I don't want it to stop.

Remy's life reaches a low point when her family turns their back on her. Because of their narrow mindedness her life has been forfeit and they sit idly by waiting for her life to end. But the shock and surprise is on them when Leviathan the Archangel shows up to rescue her from certain death. Slowly her memories of him start to reveal themselves when he whisk her away to his home....to their home. Betrayed and heartbroken she tries to put her life back together but those filled with hate just won't leave her be.
I'm reading this series back to back. I am eager to start the next one asap!!

This series hooked me from book one so I was all in for The Birth of Chaos, second in @lilywildhart Shadow Walker series!

After the explosive cliffhanger, we pick up right where we left off … with Remy in the arms of the Archangel of War. Despite being glad to be alive, our girl has questions and so do we!!

This book is a lot of exploration for Remy with her guys and the different factions - plus some AMAZING steam 🥵. On top of that, war is coming and they’re going to need everyone on their side …

Too bad the enemy has other plans - that cliffy? Yeahhh not ok! Book three, please - STAT!!!

Loved book one so was really looking forward to this especially after the cliffhanger in book 1. This book picks up from that cliff. There is more world building and we get to learn more about Remy and her men. Love their dynamics- their push/ pull and banter. Some questions are answered and more posed! Ends on a cliffhanger

I thoroughly enjoyed this 2nd installment in the Shadow Walker Saga by Sloane Murphy! I enjoyed getting to meet the various faction leaders and seeing Remy hold her own with each other them. I still have the only negative feedback where it was hard to figure out when it was present day and when I twas a flashback. I would suggest maybe in future work by this author, if flashbacks are used so much to add something to let us know off the bat it's a flashback.

I loved Levi, he adds another layer to this intricate plot and I liked getting to see the harem expand. I also liked the snark in this one, it was great (especially with the council/elders at the end - not saying more about it so I don't spoil it!). Oh my goodness I thought the side characters totally stole the show in this one. Levi's housekeeper and all around amazing human chef (and maternal/grandmother figure) was fabulous, along with some of the elders/generals/other characters at the Lycan meet-up, Dracule castle, etc. That is the reason I went with 5 stars with this one, because this one made me smile and laugh so much! I will say another tough thing to keep in line was how many flashbacks we had and not knowing which life she had them in. I was trying to figure out the order she got with the guys, but there is no way to figure that out at this point haha.

In this one, all the guys really stepped up. I wanted to hit Roman upside his head a couple times, but he was so fantastic with Remy and tried to give her comfort and support, especially after he challenge. Kane's other side came out when he was home (loved how he handled his dad haha), especially in the party scene (oooooh my goodness so 🔥🔥🔥🔥). I loved seeing how bashful Creek was with a certain monumental scene between him and Remy. I can't wait to see some group action in the future, it would be off the chart. and Levi....oh Levi. He is the most temperamental (couldn't believe Roman was dethroned haha) but he had some of the hottest and most vulnerable moments with Remy. I couldn't stop gushing over this harem, love love love!!

In terms of the plot, we get to see some coordination between the factions after more evils are presented to them/threaten their way of life. We have so many questions left unanswered and so much more to come in the next couple books. Loved the with involvement as well, as well as Fallon and her mom. I really hope Colt and Fallon can make it work!! Also, love Creek's parents in this series as well ❤️

In terms of narration, same comments as book 1 (love Sarah's performances and emotion she exudes in this one, so many emotions between the various characters to cover/handle). I thought it was good to hear the differences with all the new side characters, Sarah capturing their personalities perfectly.

Great job with book 2, already started book 3 to see how the crew handles this recent development (totally called the bad guy, just had to wait to book 2/3 before we got a clear villain in this story. Cannot wait to listen to the rest of book 3, I hope the rest of this series is going to come out on audio. I have some of the spinoff stories on audio already, but it showed it was recommended to read all 6 books in this series first before moving on to the spinoff series.

Initially the body language of the man on the book cover with the earthy green imagery suggests this could be Roman the Alphas of all Alphas however, the more I scrutinised the book cover I realised this must be Leviathan, the OG Hunter, because whom else would have those tattoos and weapons. He is a Hunter, a protector, and a soldier in The War of The Fallen.

Which means Levi is a man of Remys past, but where does he fit into the story? And more importantly who is Remy in the past?

A crown of Smoke and Ash is a story of neither good nor bad, right or wrong. It’s a story of what is to come - war, vengeance, and reverence.

“Devastation covers these lands. Smoke fills the air as ash rains down around us all.”

description

Remy and her four bonded are back for the second instalment within the series and the heat is on. Love and Loyalty will make a person do anything and with memories falling into place, new developments arise. They will do anything to stop history repeating itself though at what cost?

S Murphy allows you to read this book from the comfort of your own home while sending us on a journey to another world.

We are there with you Remy.

Are you ready to meet her Married, Mated, Bound and Blood Bound lovers?

🌶SPICE & STAR SCALE ⭐️

Each bonded has a different kink which makes for a fun, delicious and entertaining read - there is something for everyone. S Murphy takes the conventions of romance & infuses it with lust driven explicit energy and humour. Although smutty and it’s not erotic, so
I would rate it a 2.5 🌶 there was so much scope however for the purpose of keeping on narrative, Murphy doesn’t go overboard with smut which is why I gave the story a solid a 3.5⭐️ and I cannot wait for the next book!

Certainly an exciting ride.
.
I loved that Sloan took the time to give us the experience of lycan living and dracul life. It’s so fascinating to me that again it’s a different interpretation on both species and that they are completely different worlds but they seamlessly blend and weave it it gets book well.
.
Some pieces to the puzzle certainly clicked for us in this book. I’m looking forward to when Remy shows us a bit more as to why she’s such a legendary hunter. I feel like that’s where the book lacked. There was no real action. There were moments were I felt like all the characters did was eat and shower. I still enjoyed the story. This played well to those who love mysteries and as we got the breadcrumbs it was great getting to piece them all together.
.
Two major reveals at the end and I hope we get more explanations about one in particular but I’m looking forward to how it develops more in the next book and hopefully we get more action moments. I also hope we get an explanation about something she was told about. I feel like it was mentioned then forgotten so hopefully we circle back to it. Characters are great and I’m enjoying how Sloan has given them their moments together and also promises of more developing and their unit getting closer in the future.

OH.MY.
I am totally hooked on this series,Sloane sure knows how to get you glued to her story telling,i though the first book was good but this one was just as amazing where we get to find out a lot more about the four hot alpha males and what there part in all of this is with Remy.

Remy is one kickass heroin and doesn't like to be kept in the dark about anything, but the more she and her guys uncover the more confusing they are who is behind it all and they never seem to catch a break. There are factions out there that want the demons released to cause havoc on the world,so with Remy,Levi,Kain,Roman and Creek all getting there own factions behind them to stop it,it's a race against time.

This was packed full of action that kept me turning the pages wanting to find out what happens next, this never let me up for breath as so much was going on that it will give you whip lash but in a good way especially with all the hot steamy sex that Remy and her her four hot males are getting.PHEW!!

Absolutley loving this series can't get enough and now with that ending i need the next book. This series is must read you will not be able to put it down trust me.

This is the second book in this series and I was lucky to read the first one and this one back to back. I am completely hooked on this series already!

There is so much going on in this book and it picks up straight from book 1. Remy is trying to come to terms with her families betrayal and is now adjusting to her new reality and the 3 seriously hot men that are surrounding her and declaring her as theirs!

The chemistry between Remy and her Vampire, Werewolf, Angel and Hunter are honestly off the chart hot I'm surprised there wasn't any steam coming off my kindle.

The world as they knew it is starting to change and everything they had always believed in is being tiped on its head. The factions need to band together to survive what is coming and with Remy heading the resistance they just may stand a chance.

I can't wait to see what happens in the next book after THAT cliffhanger!!

Bittersweet Betrayals

Blood is thicker than water and family are supposed to stand by you no matter what or the saying goes. Life isn't a Hallmark Card and sometimes the people and friends we love become our family. Not all families are created equal and betrayals are hard when you don't see it coming. Being the balance is a tall order especially as her memory has not returned fully. I would have asked Levi to restore all my memories so I had the full picture rather than running blind into these dangerous situations. Remy seems to rush into danger so no wonder she had so many past lives despite her fierce skills as a warrior. The past shapes the future so that knowledge was invaluable. I think she was more scared to remember the bad things which is why she hesitated. Despite all the powerful men around her Remy seems to end up fighting for her life more often than not, only this time she may not be able to make it back at all. A good thing she is fearless when it comes to saving her friends as she may need all her strength to survive what's coming. Actioned packed, steamy sexy interludes and hot sex with powerful Alphas what more can you ask for.

Another great read!!!

Book 2 was just as gripping as 1! The story got moved along more and we discovered new information and got to know are hero’s a BIT more as well. One thing I did notice in the story so far is I feel like I’m missing pieces, like I skipped a bunch of paragraphs with details, like how did we get from point A to B? As well as I don’t know how she met each man and it sounds like I should?

The editing could have used a bit more help too. I had to stop & back track several times to mentally add a missing word or figure out what the sentence was actually supposed to read like. It did not detract from the story too much so just a minor gripe! A few more read through s to keep the reader engrossed in the story and this will be Golden!!

This story has me hooked! I’m not getting any house work done and have zero regrets! She even threw in a few elements of some of my fav authors I noticed in this book: Sarah J. Maas & Amelia Hutchins too?! Awesome little nods to both peak through. Can’t wait to see what else is uncovered and so happy this series is complete, I’d die if I had to wait!!

A crown of smoke and ash is the second book in The Shadow Walkers Saga.
Remy is back with Creek, Kain, Roman and Levi as well as Colt and Fallon and the story continues from where book 1 came to an end.
Remy has lost her family due to the events in book 1 and she is living with Levi and starting a new family with her four guys. While at the same time trying to reunite the factions and stop the evil that is coming.
From the beginning this book is full of action with constant twists and turns that you just cant put the book down. Then there is Remy and her guys. Remy is a strong and independent woman who has to fight to make them understand that she doesn't need their protection even though she understands their reasons for wanting to protect her. Her relationship with the four of them is intense and her connection to each of them is unique. The book is full of intense, steamy scenes but it never gets too much or takes over the book/story line.
I am loving this series and I cannot wait to read book 3 in the series. This is definitely a series that i recommend.

In this strong follow-up to A Crown of Blood and Bone, we (alongside Remy) learn more about her past lives and the factions of the men around her. The Hunters aren't the good guys they make themselves out to be and the elders' secrets come out as Remy regains memories. She sees the glimpses of her lives with Roman and Kain, and we're introduce to Leviathan - the Archangel of War.

I loved seeing Roman and Kain as leaders and royals within their factions and the lives their people lead. I still can't pinpoint my favorite of Remy's harem, but that's part of the fun. They are all different males with distinct personalities and cultures, which makes the relationships and the RH dynamic much more interesting. Remy is fierce, strong, and leads with her heart. I'm really enjoying this series!

Hot damn! Sloane sure knows how to write a captivating story. This is book 2 of the Shadow Walker sage and by golly it does not disappoint. Remy has a lot to juggle in this book after surviving a brutal betrayal in book 1. Sure enough she finds her feet once more surrounded by her guys and developing relations between the factions. Not only doing this for a better life but also due to a new and bigger threat that will mean all the factions working together as they once did. With more memories coming back, Remy fights for what is right and refuses to give up.
This books offers a lot of love lust and loyalty as Remy's relationships sizzle why battling rogue's and demons. Looking forward to book 3 which has been set up perfectly with the ending to this book!

A Crown of Smoke and Ash by Sloane Murphy is part two in her Shadow Walkers Saga. The book is not a stand-alone. I recommend to red the books in order. The previous book is ACrown of Blood and Bone, the incredible start to a very promising series.
The story picks up where the previous book was left off. Remy the heroine was incarcerated by her guild. Her men are trying to free her, and at th last second a new player shows up. Another of her lovers from a former life. A powerful one who risks a lot to help Remy.
After reading book one I just had to know what happens next to the story. Now there are not only Lycans, Draculs, Hunters and humans involved, think of demons and angels and you get the picture.
I really, really liked the storyline and the characters. A great read, it would hve been five stars with one more round of proofreading. All in all a great read, 4 beautiful stars.

Oh my goodness!!

Wow I don't even know where to start. Sloane has twisted my heart and damped my panties and I don't know what to think anymore. Levi, Roman, Creek and Kain have all come together to help Remy finally fulfill her one mission in her entire existence. Sounds easy right? Not in Sloane's world.

There are so many twists and turns and the more answers you find the more questions you have. This mystery continues to unravel and you have no idea who to trust. Remy runs head first into danger every.single.time. and there I am along with these guys screaming at her!! This story is unbelievable and these characters are just everything. This story get more intense and more complicated with ever turn. Never underestimate the power of grey sweatpants ladies! The heat in this book. Whew. Thank the fates on this one ladies.

Carrying on from where Book 1 left off we find Remy and her mates now banding together to see all factions to get them on side to show the elders that the hunters way isn’t necessarily the right way, Remy finds she has to prove her worth to each faction along side her mate of said faction and we also see the big fallout of when she goes to see the hunters, elders and her own family. As she does this we start to see secrets that have been hidden deep unearthed. As we progress through her story and her memories come back and the more time she spends with each mate you get to see why they are good together and why she is the one to kick start this whole new revolution. Leaving you on another cliffhanger this author leaves you pinning for more. I personally cant wait for the next book.
