For most souls, it is relatively easy to receive the closure they need and move on to their final destination. Others, like Mihai Calin, find themselves stuck in the Ground, the realm between the dead and the living. Left with no memories of his life or how he died, he is unable to resolve his impediment and cross over. He and his companion, Jay, are stuck as grim reapers, helping others passing through to find peace. Neither have any hope of overcoming their fate until a certain soul comes along who can change everything-- even the things above the surface.
While the residents of the Ground scramble to solve the mystery of how their paths are intertwined, the people they left behind are struggling to pick up the pieces.

My favourite book of all time... perfectly written with all the right amounts of humour and pain. I don't think I'll ever be able to put into words just how much this book means to me. If you're after some heart-wrenching wlw and mlm romance and beautiful found family tropes then this book does it all amazingly well!

impediment has made me laugh, smile and cry. so well-written and one of the best, most original storylines i’ve come across. just all-around beautiful & one of my favourite books <3

It has plot twists and angst and fluffy moments, and also parts where you can relate to the character
This book ruined my life in the best way possible. It had everything I love in books. It felt like my imagination was on crack. Truly scratched the right part of my brain. It made me feel so many emotions. I turned into a new person after reading. I've never read such beautiful writing. No words can describe it.
