Persuade A Highlander:
A Scottish Time Travel Romance
Rebecca Preston
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Anthropologist Cara Eastman has gone to Scotland on sabbatical. She arrives on the Isle of Skye so she can investigate Dunscaith's connection to a series if myths around a warrior/witch woman. The Scathach. An unknown woman in historical attire beckons her through a door and Cara follows her ending up in the right place at the right time because the very thing she was investing has made a reappearance. It seems that, the Scathach is back and is leaving a trail of bodies in her wake.

William MacLeod is a troublmaking guardsmen who accepts the dangerous job of investigating the deaths as a way to finally prove himself to his Laird. He and Cara have both landed smack dab in the middle of these horrible deaths and he finds the Laird slow to come with help as the bodies keep piling up. Doing what he can he turns to Cara and her unique insight into the Scathach in order to try and solve this mystery.

Neither of them expects to fall in love, but as the mystery deepens and it appears someone is pretending to be the Scathach killing people, they can only hope that their new bond is strong enough to save them from becoming the next victims.

Rebecca Preston is absolutely fabulous. This book had me from the get go and I had a very hard time pulling myself away long enough to deal with life. It was if I was right there back in time in historical Scotland trying to investigate the murders with them. It was a so real to me. The main characters were perfectly matched and Cara had hardly any problems adjusting to the times. William was strong, but there was a cute playful side to him that was adorable. I have read every book in this series and this may have been my favorite yet. Ms. Preston you are truly a talented writer and I enjoyed this story immensely. All in all, I think time travel fans would really enjoy reading this novel.

While visiting castle ruins, Cara followed a woman dressed in period clothing down the stairs and through a little door…. and found herself in 16th Century Scotland. Believing she was at a cosplay event, she ran from the castle and straight into the arms of William. Realizing she was a woman from the future who would most likely be confined for a few days, he offered to spirit her away. William, who was a guard responsible for keeping the peace in a remote village on MacLeod land, offered to house her while she came to terms with her new circumstances. Even as they were investigating a series of murders, Cara and William found themselves falling for each other. William is not your typical hero. He pulled pranks, chased and bedded numerous women, and drove the Laird crazy. But, he was loved and respected by his neighbors and to watch him fall for Cara was delightful. Cara adjusted remarkably well to her new circumstances, and I suspect that had a lot to do with the crush she had on William. The author did a wonderful job of knitting their lives together in a way that seemed natural, and was most entertaining. (Please be aware that there are references to unwanted sexual advances, which are pertinent to the story, but not its focus). I especially loved the ending….it was in typical William fashion!

Cara Eastman is an anthropologist who teaches Celtic and Highland myths. She is headed to Dinscaith Castle in Scotland to investigate the legends around the female warrior Scathach. Cara is on a tour at the castle when she is motioned to follow a woman. Cara finds herself going through a door and back in the sixteenth century. She thinks she’s in a role-playing scenario and runs away because she doesn’t want to participate. She ends up running into William MacLeod. He helps her get away and takes her to his cottage, several miles from the castle. Cara finds out she isn’t the first woman who travelled through time. Will is a guardsman who has been sent from the castle to work in the farthest village because of all the pranks he’s pulled at the castle. Murders are being committed on the moors and Will and Cara work together to find the murderer. They have an instant attraction. Cara is shy and doesn’t know how to talk to men but she’s extremely comfortable with Will. They work well together. I enjoyed their storyline. I loved the characters in this book and can’t wait to read the rest of the series. I highly recommend this book and enjoyed it immensely.

Rebecca Preston’s “Persuade A Highlander: A Scottish Time Travel Romance (A Highlander Across Time Book 6”

Anthropologist Cara Eastman arrives on the Isle of Skye to investigate Dunscaith’s connection to a series of myths around a woman warrior—the Scathach. While visiting castle ruins she’s beckoned to go through a doorway by a woman dressed in period clothing. Stepping into the past she runs from the castle straight into the arms of William MacLeod, a womanizing guardsman known for playing pranks. And so the adventure begins!

I loved this story! The chemistry between William and Cara was incredible. With a great storyline, fantastic characters and good dialogue she packed this fast paced story with mystery, intrigue, emotion and passion rendering a fine tale. I enjoyed the relationship between Cara and William and how well they worked together. This has been a wonderful series to read and I am truly looking forward to the next book.

Thank you Ms. Preston for this exciting romance!

Cara Eastman is an anthropologist who has extensively studied the myths around a woman warrior—the Scathach. She goes to Scotland to the ruins of Dunscaith Castle on the Isle of Skye to see for herself where this myth comes from.
While at the castle ruins she sees a woman who motions for her to follow her. She goes through a door in the basement to find herself in the 16th century.

Guardsman William MacLeod is a bit of a prankster which gets him into trouble with the laird. Because of this he has been assigned duty at a village rather than at the castle.

When a series of murders occurs Cara and William try to investigate the deaths a find the culprit.

Although this is the sixth book in this series it can easily be read and enjoyed if you haven’t read the others.
This is a fun easy to read book which I quite enjoyed.

Cara is visiting a castle in Scotland to do research on a warrior like, witch woman, the Scathach. There, she sees a women dressed in period clothing and follows her down a stairway and through a little door…. and finds herself in 16th Century Scotland. At first thinking this is some sort of recreation, she soon learns, this is real. She runs right into the arms of William MacLeod. William has the reputation of a troublemaker and to redeem himself to the MacLeod Laird he accepts the dangerous job of investigating a series of strange deaths. Together they make a formidable team to solve this mystery. The book has well paced, steamy, action packed, and full of drama. Rebecca Preston has done it again. Great read. Different and intriguing the arrival of the anthropologist Cara Eastman to the past. The adventure began for her immediately. Apparently Scathach was leading her steps with a particular interest in what the anthropologist could demonstrate. Despite the little information Cara had found in her studies about the warrior, she was more than prepared to help uncover the truth behind the sudden, mysterious, and violent deaths. I liked how Cara used her knowledge to offer support, assist victims in the healing process, and reaffirm and support William MacLeod. Quite a therapist! The man wasn't as terrible as he looked, and I liked how Cara was helping him and how he was responding. A woman with wide open eyes who knew how to evaluate what she was facing. I found this story very interesting with suspense, strong emotions, mystery, sad and tragic situations, violence, romance, and passion.

An anthropologist researches her way to ancient Scotland.

Cara is an anthropologist researching an ancient myth/legend of a Scottish warrior woman. When she finds herself in ancient Scotland, she is closer to the reality that generated the myth. However the truth appears that rather than saving Scotland, she is leaving a trail of bodies. She runs into William who is the local womanizer and prankster who is looking into the deaths. Together they have the skills to discover what’s happening and the chemistry between them is amazing. Fast paced adventure, a woman out of time but with knowledge that gives her an advantage, a hot Scot, who needs to prove himself and a mystery to solve. Fun read.

This was a very interesting time travel romance. The storyline was captivating and I read it pretty much in one sitting. Cara and William had a good connection and I enjoyed the slow build up of their relationship. I probably would have given this 5 stars if it hadn’t been for the fact that I felt that the way the sixteenth century was portrayed felt too modern and that was a bit distracting. This was my first time reading a book by this author and overall I really liked it so I would definitely read another.

Rebecca Preston writes excellent Scottish Time Travel Romances and "Persuade A Highlander" is the best one yet. This story had me right from the start. The action, adventure, mystery, and character chemistry flow easily from the pages, once I started it I could not put it down. It was very easy to get absorbed in the story and to feel transported back in time right along with Cara. I look forward to what is next from Rebecca Preston.

The sixth book in the A Highlander Across Time series, a well written story that kept me turning pages. Anthropologist Cara Eastman get thrown back to the same time theother five ladies have ended up in. Cara thinking it is a roll play and wants no part of it so she runs, right into the arms of the carousing, troublemaking guardsman William MacLeod. Their story has suspense, drama, danger, murder, a villain, and love. The story was well worth reading. I want to read the next book. What is better than a modern anthropologist intrigued by a Celt warrior woman who suddenly finds herself in 1st century BC?

It's the Celt warrior she meets there.

This is such a great addition to an already outstanding time travel series "A Highlander Across Time". This volume joins them but is a wonderful stand alone. It is well written, quite original and just fun to see her join other 20th century American women in good old Celt land!!

Another fun and enjoyable read in this series. The attention to detail always astounds me and transforms these books into something almost magical to read. I love experiencing history through the eyes of a modern character. Cara and William are thrown into action from the very beginning and observing them growing as individuals and a couple is both interesting and intriguing. Plenty of action and romance, this is a good read.

This is yet another fun time travel story where some special knowledge from the future has an impact in the 16th century. Introverted Cara has an interesting time fitting into the past with the help of William despite his “colourful” history. The suspense arising in the village drew Cara and William further into the plot, and kept me reading on. Enjoyable right to the very end!
