This book explains some of the core beliefs of Seventh Day Adventists. Similar to Mormons or Johova’s Witnesses, SDA is an alternative branch of Christianity which started in the late 1800s.
I read the first few pages, and then skimmed the rest. This book is a collection of quotes/citations from early SDA texts.
My take is that they believe that:
*The end is nigh
*Cities are bad
*Unions are bad
*Eating meat, dairy and eggs is bad
*Only 144’000 people can get to heaven (if I read that section correctly)
*Being as healthy as possible is very important (no alcohol, smoking, caffeine, etc)
As someone who doesn’t believe in any god, a lot of this book fell on deaf ears. However, many of SDAs’ beliefs coincide with my own: Veganism, countryside, growing your own produce, getting healthy, being a part of a community, etc is great.
But Unions are a good thing IMO, scaring people with hell and the apocalypse is nonsense, being ‘pure’ is bs, and with regards to caffeine etc, I think let people make their own choices.
