I loved this book! It has three estranged sisters trying to save their family inn and find out who they are at this next stage in life. A little love story as well.

It’s not summer anymore, but I needed a light, warm read. This was it! However, the ending left me looking for sequel… not, yet.

While the story was good and the writing as well, I don't read novels where you are left with no end if the story which, to get the rest of the story, you have to buy and read another book. Not nice to do to your readers. While I want to find out what happens, I'm not buying another of her books. Also, Epilogue? Really? It's not an Epilogue. It's simply a couple more chapters. Disappointed.

The Vineyard Sisters begins as a story of the Townsend family in Martha's Vineyard & The Wayfarer Inn that Warren Townsend & his daughter Leslie own & manage. Another daughter, Michelle is married & lives in San Francisco with her husband & two grown daughters.

Surprises ahead.... Meanwhile Jill Ruthers is a caregiver for her mother suffering from Alzheimer's in New York. While at her mother's home, Jill receives a puzzling phone call from an attorney in Martha's Vineyard informing her that Warren Townsend has just passed away of an apparent heart attack & he informs her that this man is her father that she has never known. He proceeds to tell her of the upcoming funeral taking place with a reading of a will afterwards. Jill is completely shocked & in disbelief as she makes a call to her twin brother, Grayson at his office to inform him of the call & the identity of their father, Warren Townsend. Grayson is very indifferent & cold & is concerned mainly with himself & has absolutely no time for life back in New York, much less any concerns in Martha's Vineyard & any information regarding a father who has been non-existent until now after his death.

Oh my, the surprises that are in store for this family of four siblings all beginning when Jill travels to Martha's Vineyard for her estranged father's funeral & the reading of the will that includes all four of his children. In the will Warren has left the Wayfarer Inn to all four of them, unfortunately there is also a large debt owed on the Inn & it is in need of a major renovation & several repairs. Three sisters meeting for the first time is just the beginning of this tangled story revealing many ups & downs with several individual family issues along the way.

I thoroughly enjoyed this ARC novel written by Grace Palmer & consider it to be my favorite so far & truly hope that she continues to expand on this story with a series of books about The Wayfarer Inn. Can they repair the Inn & save it? What are their individual stories & joys & sorrows? You may well be surprised as you read their story. Hmmm, no more hints here, you must get a copy & read it for yourself. Enjoy!

When Warren Townsend passes away, his two daughters learn that they have a sister and a brother. At the reading of the will, they meet their sister Jill. They have choices to make, and as they make them, there are detours, problems, and life just seems to be saying to them, think again. Wrong answer.
Their brother, Grayson, is cold, calculating, and a numbers guy, and he has different ideas. The sisters, after life seems to say, finally the right answer, begins facing the challenges they must face in order to keep the inn and keep it going. The women start to see their life differently, whether it is their past, the present, or their future. They meet people that they not only connect to but also, shows them that letting others help you can be a good thing.
Grace captures life, and takes us on the sister's journey of how they cope with what is happening to them now. Trust me it isn't smooth sailing and everything falls into place, it is self discovery of what they truly are capable of. Or, as I thought while reading the book, seeing themselves through their eyes instead of what their brain was telling them, what others had convinced them they were good at, finding the courage to believe in themselves, and taking that leap of faith and going for it.
There is a lot of things happening in the story, but it isn't crowded or just a bunch of stuff that doesn't fit, it is like your life, things coming and going and how they navigate through.

The Vineyard Sisters ( The Wayfarer Inn Book 1)

Growing up in Martha’s Vineyard two sisters who were estranged were forced to talk to one another when drastic changes were made in their lives when their father passed away. Suddenly they had to cope and deal with one another. After the reading of the will, they found out they had a third sister and her twin brother. Suddenly the entire inheritance was threatened.
With so much physical work on their plate and financial instability, the sisters weren’t sure if they could accomplish everything in time and started to get after one another.
Things seemed to go from bad to worse.
This story keeps the reader captivated right to the end. The characters are endearing with foibles and typical character traits like so many people. This is a light hearted book which has a lovely storyline. Fun to read

An easy read, ideal for when you are on holiday, feeling low or just something straightforward. I liked the main characters who were likeable and all quite different while other key characters were introduced throughout the story, each playing an important role in the story development. Each interacted well to compliment the theme and I liked how you saw different aspects of what was going on through the main characters eyes. It was easy to read, a book that you simply wanted to read the next chapter to see what happened next! I won’t say that I was enamoured by the ending which came out of the blue but also leads on to book two, it just almost seemed out of character and abrupt, but I guess that’s what the author intended. I would read more by this author as I did enjoy it. Thank you.

I chose The Vineyard Sisters because the theme for the book club I'm in for April was siblings. Boy, am I glad I read this one. There's nothing like finding out you've got a sister(s) and a brother you never knew about. And how well the secret was kept for years until the death of their father brings them together with a reading of his will. This book had me tearful halfway through it. The sisters find a way to work together to save the family inn, while the brother is anything but receptive and absent 95% of the time in the story. I will say the ending was not what I expected, and that's okay because I believe it will be continued on in the second book. If you need a feel good story, this is one for you.

I really wanted to like this book, but if there's one thing that drives me nuts is typos and words that are used in the wrong tense, and the list goes on. While the storyline is great, this author doesn't seem to care about her readers. Honestly, if you're going to self-publish, your work needs to be impeccable. She should have sent it out to an editing friend or at least run it through Grammarly to make sure it was free of typos and to fix the word tense. And the ending? Don't even get me started. What was that? I'm only giving it two stars because this author will hopefully take this review to heart and start paying attention! It should be one star, but the story concept is a good one. Don't waste your money or more importantly, your time on this one.

I was a volunteer ARC for this book to give an honest review. This book is about two estranged sisters who are back together for their father’s funeral. There is still a lot of anger between the sisters. They are especially thrown a loop with the reading of their father’s will. As the book goes on, you find out what has torn the sisters apart and they begin to become closer. Romance blossoms for Leslie and Michelle has choices to make. This book is one that leaves you hanging for the next book to follow along with their lives and the town. Strong, believable characters. New found family and friends. Real life situations.

I really liked this booked. It started out rather interesting and then to read about Michelle, Leslie and Jill and how they managed to work through the shocking news and became a family fighting all odds, including Grayson. These women came together, resolved some major relationship issues, and worked towards a common goal. I CANNOT wait for the next one, especially after the cliff-hanger with Michelle. I really liked how Grace moved the story along chronologically but from each sister's viewpoint. It was so easy to follow and I enjoyed the format.

I picked up this book because the setting was Martha’s Vineyard. I vacationed there many times over the years and enjoyed the few references it made to locations I was familiar with. The story took place in an Inn on MV that had fallen into disrepair. When the owner Warren dies, he designates in the will that it is to be left to his 4 children. Two of the children did not know they were his children until the reading of the will. I found the story very trite, predictable and the worst- you get to the end- which is no end- to be continued!

This was a fun book, told from the points of view of three different sisters. Each sister's story was interesting and it was loads of fun seeing them come together to keep the family bed & breakfast running. Would probably have gone with 4 stars, except I don't like books that leave a cliffhanger ending, requiring you to read the next book in the series to see how things turn out. Series are okay---but in my opinion, each book in a series should stand alone. I'm not interested enough in this series to keep at it.

An easy and enjoyable read. Great for a vacation or when you're not feeling so hot and confined to bed (my case). Characters are likeable and you get to see growth in the characters and healing of relationships. We all go through stuff in life and there are always surprises. It's what you "do" that makes the difference. This book tells a fun story that illustrates that concept. Will likely look into other books in this series.

Another must read!

This is such a Great book and a cliff hanger at the end. I can not wait to buy the next book in the series. So much happened that saying anything would give to much away. This is a story of surprise, forgiveness and love with a little bit of mystery thrown in. You will be so glad you read this book. Grace Palmer's books stay with you long after you have read them!

It's somewhat formulaic, and it quickly became evident that not all the story lines could be completed in the one book, so the cliffhanger ending did not come as a great surprise to me. I wonder if the remaining books are standalone -- many romance trilogies describe a group of friends, and each volume is a different friend's story -- or if this is a necessary read first.

While it is formulaic, it also touches nicely on several themes that most do not, including dementia, estrangement, loss, and women's independence, in a tasteful and relevant manner.

It is a very enjoyable read.

This story is full of surprises and with every page there are some answers and more questions. That the three sisters are able to get along, become friends and family is stunning. While they are working together to get the Inn up and running they make so many friends and get so much support, I found that refreshing and very enjoyable.

What a cluster frock.so much has happened, funeral, the will, and a new family. The situation is sad,but there is light ahead, with a lot of shadows.Poor Michelle,Leslie finding some light, Jill is a good woman, and no offense, her brother is a nasty sob. I hope they have the fight in them, but it’s going to be hard.
Great story! When is the next book coming out!

I enjoyed this book and am anxious to read the next one. As a retired teacher I am, however, very disappointed in the proofreading (or lack of) that was done in this book and the last several books I have read. If there were only a couple of errors, perhaps I wouldn't be so disappointed, but I can't believe someone was actually paid to edit this book.

This book was fine and kept my attention throughout. I love to read books about people remodeling and fixing up houses and inns, etc. The romances were great, too. But when it ends as a cliff hanger—sorry, that is no way to write a book! Each book needs a resolution! Maybe include a sneak peak of the next book and put your cliff hanger in there!
