Maggie didn’t think she could trust the by-the-book doctor with her secret. Until she got a glimpse into his soul…and God’s mysterious ways became as clear as a starry night.

Pastor Carson Blair plans a quiet Christmas vacation for his twin girls—until veteran Lily Watkins gets snowed in with them. Marta Perry is a Pennsylvania-based author of over 35 novels, many of them inspirational romances. She uses her rural Pennsylvania life and her Pennsylvania Dutch heritage in writing her books, especially in her Pleasant Valley Amish series for Berkley Books and her new Amish-set suspense series for HQN Books.
Marta and her husband live in a centuries-old farmhouse in a quiet central Pennsylvania valley. They have three grown children and six beautiful grandchildren, and when she's not busy writing her next book, she's usually trying to keep up with her gardening, baking for church events, or visiting those beautiful grandkids.
This book contains “The Doctor’s Christmas” by Marta Perry and “The Twins’ Family Christmas by Lee Tobin McClain. Both of these stories have similar themes of forgiveness and redemption. In “The Doctor’s Christmas”, Maggie Davis has issues trusting people because of her past and Dr. Grant Hardesty is having a problem letting go of his past as well. Throughout this story, you find yourself rooting for both of them and wishing they would realize they should be together. In “The Twins’ Family Christmas”, Lily Watkins comes to stay at the ranch her aunt owns in order to check on her former roommate’s kids. She is having a hard time not blaming herself for that same roommate’s death. While Pastor Carson Blair who is the late husband of Lily’s former roommate is trying to come to terms with the death of his wife and also give his twins the best Christmas. If you like uplifting Christmas books, then you’ll enjoy both stories that are included in this book.
A Doctor and a Pastor find love for the first time and also for the second time.
Enjoyed being with these authors again. Grant and Maggie story was sweet. Though Maggie kept something from Grant at first. But after she told him. He helped her with the kids and also in finding their mother. In the midst of it all they fell in love. Carson and Lily was one full of heartache and love. Lily came to Colorado to get to know her Army friend husband and to also share about his wife. In the midst of it all she and he fell in love. After she told him about his wife it changed things. They did some soul searching after that they were able to come together as one and also be parents to the girls.
I've read Ms. Perry's Amish novels for years. That's why I thought I'd try this traditional novel. It was a wonderful read and truly pulled on your heart strings. It reminded the readers that we all take on guilt that truly should be given to Him and that we don't know all sides of a person's journey. I'd recommend it as a great read and hope the other characters get their own stories too.
This was very interesting and emotional. The characters were all so special and likeable. It was a pleasure especially with the antics of the twins. God made for a happy ending and I am so glad things worked out in a positive and loving way.
Two Love Inspired Christmas Stories: The Doctor's Christmas: You will love Dr. Grant Hardesty who signs up to volunteer at a mountain clinic in the mountains of western Maryland in hopes of it helping him obtain a partnership in Baltimore. Nurse Maggie Davis and the entire community of Button Gap are keeping a secret that Maggie is providing a supposedly temporary home for three children. You will enjoy this story of Dr. Grant's culture shock and learning to care for this impoverished community and accept the foodstuff in exchange for medical treatment. The Twins' Family Christmas: Lily Watkins is a military veteran who agrees to spend Christmas at Redemption Ranch, a home for veterans run by her aunt. She has not counted on her next door neighbor being her late friend's widower husband, a handsome minister with small twin daughters. Lily and Carson find they both need to work through Pam's death. The story deals with some serious subjects. I enjoyed both of these books and recommend them to others. I received a complimentary advance copy of the book from the authors. This is my honest opinion.
Maggie is a nurse at the county's free clinic. The county can not afford a full time Doctor so they have a volunteer Doctor come to the clinic for a month at a time. Button Gap is a small town where everyone knows everyone and if you need help they are quick to be there.
Grant is this month's Doctor and Maggie is afraid that he will find out her secret so she isn't very nice to him at the start. She is hoping that he packs up and goes back to Baltimore where he came from.
This book takes you through alot of emotions. At some points you laugh then you want to cry but it really is a book you certainly will want to read
These were two good stories but I loved the second one best. The first is about a "Big City Doctor" who goes to Button Gap to improve his ability to join a practice in the city. Little does he know what he will face. The second is about a pastor and his identical twins girls who are spending Christmas at a ranch. It is also about Lily who was there when the pastor's wife died while in military duty and the secrets she holds.
